[ROM][S7562] CM 10.1 and 10.2 - Samsung Galaxy S Duos

CyanogenMod (CM 10.1)
Android 4.2.x & CyanogenMod (CM10.2) Android 4.3.x Note: This is build from source for the device s7560 jellybean Rom, this is the same rom that also works on s7562 device, which is, same as our device in everything except it's a single sim phone.
I tested them on my device and it works the smoothest and fastest, I have ever gone on S duos. OC kernel works good, apart from that this is not recommended for daily users.
CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 4.x (Jelly bean), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

About CM
CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

Miscellaneous Information:
The development of jellybean stopped years ago and it is unsupported until today. it has some major bugs regarding network, bluetooth, offline charging, FM radio. but those of us who use this phone as nothing more than a toy or use wifi for browsing internet, can try these for themselves and see how good this device can perform. Asking devs to help us here is too much and really these bugs aren't easy to solve, I know Because I tried and failed myself. well codename13 has his work saved on github for cm10.2 and anyone who wants to try to be a successful dev can check it here on github

Hey
I tried this ROM and it is real smooth.
Had a question is this project ended or we are going to have update in future?

Sadly, Yes.
right now, nobody is interested in updating this, this is really smooth and fast, and I feel this could be best for our device minus the ril bug. I tried kitkat, but there I know, it's never going to be this smooth, plus most of the apps could run on jellybean, so it's better than staying on ics, which has lesser app support now. the devs of s7560 have avoided this cause of the bug and moved on to cm11. It's better there but for me cm11 is slower than 10.1 too. I do hope someone could try to fix this. I tried, but I don't have that much resources to build a rom and knowledge to sort out these bugs. If i could, I would have done it myself.

@kengnatural and @KlinkOnE if you all can also look on this page
if anyone of you can build a good kernel for this rom it would be good to go and is also much better than cm11 relative to the performance and smoothness part

Nice to see that there is more than one option to play width. I'd like to say that although a kernel is the essential part of the operating system, in particular Android ecosystem, this itself is not enough to build a full working ROM. In our case i think the kernel we used with CM11 is already working, nice and smooth. There are also stock kernel for ICS and kylesopen kernel. All they could be used here. But for porting the ROM you also should carefully port a lot of native libraries. Bluetooth, radio, etc. That's why the kernel will not solve the bugs. The same situation is for CM11. Kernel is working fine, but some of the native libraries are ported as binary from ICS rom, there are some inconsistencies between higher level subsystem and native libraries, HAL etc.
@billysam, please, investigate the CM11 build, you can take some libraries from there. The RIL part in CM11 is already working (thanks to @m4jonez) you can investigate and reuse that part. The same thing is bluetooth and camera.

there is no native dualsim support in cm10.x
you`ll have to find the right commits from cm11 and adapt it to cm10

i didnt get you?
what do u mean when u say find the right commits?
edit: okay i got you
and if you could just compile or edit the kernel and see if it works as you are a good kernel developer

@balindam bajpai thank you for the corrections and bringing this up with other devs, I tried this rom with Ba2x kernels (link in first post), I flashed all the Ba2x kernels for s7562, they all booted with the above builds but ril, bluetooth camera didn't worked in any case.
@kengnatural and @KlinkOnE
before posting this thread I did a lot of reading and downloaded all the files I could of both these devices CM10.1, CM10.2 and CM11 too. I even tried to download the whole source for JB, but have storage issue on my Linux PC, which is quiet old too, so I can't help in building Rom or kernel for it. I spent my limited bandwidth too but no success.
So, I tried replacing libs from CM11 roms where bluetooth ril and camera where working. the only success I got, the rom stopped flashing the insert sim card error on setup wizard.
couldn't make bluetooth work just by replacing libs, modules, jar .so files, I gave a nice amount of time experimenting with all the files I could think of replacing in this build on my S duos.
Switched basebands too of s7560 on s duos.
I know it's hard to get dual sim support here but single sim will be enough too for starters.?

I think you could tell by the screenshots of the about device above taken on my s duos. even after all this experimenting and not from a developer background, I still have managed to keep my device alive for more experiments. there is also a CM9 thread of s7560 I don't know if you all have noticed this or not http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...rom-cm9-samsung-galaxy-trend-ace-iix-t2876858

@KlinkOnE
if you could make a kernel compatible with this rom and may be this rom turns out to be the best one
even better than cm11 as already it is much more smooth.
and if you along with @kengnatural can develop this rom
and i and @billysam can help you with the testing part, giving feedbacks and bug reports. @kengnatural thank u for the knowledge given and if could yourself replace the required files and see if ril gets going.

I did tried to change ril related so files along with bluetooth and camera from CM11, and it did stop the error sim msg popping up in CM10 builds, but still didn't worked out network on even single sim(that's what I use).
although I would really like devs to lend a hand on this project, but there should be absolutely no pressure on any devs to work and avoid making request for the same consistently asking for ETA or updates that would hamper their ongoing projects.
You can always count me in for testing, any suggestions here are accepted and I will try my best to take out time for this here with proper error reporting.

@billysam
i guess u are right
and i have already have had a take with one of the developer and i think that they will develop this also but after having fixed all the bugs of cm11,kinda good strategy i think.
so i think this project is till then postponed.
btw thanks to all.

replacing libs doesn't help anything here.
The rom has to be build from source with the required modifications for dualsim!
As you may have noticed I am even doing nothing cm11 related atm cause I have no time at all.
From my point id say improving cm11 for our device makes more sense.

Can I try the gapps in this page in the 4.4.4 cm11 rc3 rom?
Because the DevHost links are not at all working for me.
The actual file never gets Downloaded.
So can I try this version of gapps?

If you flashed JB GApps to a KK system, chances are:
- They will be installed but with some errors.
- They won't be installed.

Click on the thanks button to their posts!
Dao Thanh Duy ( @daothanhduy1996 ), first and foremost for his contributions to the NILTMT kernel, providing his device and kernel source trees and for having done such a good job that I had almost no problems compiling cm-11.0 with them. His help has also been essential to figuring out issues on IRC. This ROM would not have been possible without him
The Cyanogenmod team and everyone who has contributed to the project. I merely ported their ROM, they receive all your thanks.
Brian ( @sunsurfer42 ) for this extremely generous donation of TWO dev phones in addition to 2 extra batteries. He even refused when I offered to pay for shipping. This ROM would not be available to you guys without him.
Rick ( @GFX.myst. ) for providing the awesome graphics for our team and this thread! He even made us a new CM11 Unofficial logo
David LaMontagne ( @DJLamontagneIII ) for his awesome kernel source
@JustArchi for his optimizations and his Linaro repositories which were used in the making of this ROM
@Beastmode for the source code he left with us. At one point he was the only active developer for this phone. I still miss seeing his contributions (Proton Kernel anyone?)
@bhundven , @jeffsf , @m4xm4n , @AntonX , and @RaverX3X for all the time and effort they put into this phone. We're still using their source code to this day
Features:
Missing non-essential apps such as wallpapers to free up space in the /system partition
Android KitKat 4.4.4 built from source with the latest updates
Compiled with Linaro 4.7 using -O2 optimizations on both the THUMB and ARM targets. This means that most of the ROM, not just the kernel, receive these optimizations
Debloated, removed a bunch of wallpapers, the NFC, Torch and Video Editor apps
Issues:
All of the Aries bugs still plaguing this phone, including:
Charging animation broken
No smooth HD video recording
TV out not tested
Won't make your phone have a quad core processor
If you're still on Gingerbread or older, follow lumin's guide here. You need CWM 5 with the blue text:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21953878&postcount=2
Once you have blue CWM5, just flash the ROM. It will automatically continue flashing using TWRP once your phone restarts. After the flash is done the phone will continue to boot into CM11, no need for a 2nd flash.
If you're already on any ROM newer than ICS, just follow the instructions below.
Download the ROM and optionally gapps and put them on your SD Card
Make a backup of your current ROM and apps using both Titanium backup and with TWRP/CWM.
Do a factory reset (full wipes for safety)
Flash the ROM and gapps
Wait another 5 minutes after you see your phone boot fully. This will let all the dust settle.
If you are upgrading from an older build of this ROM, you can probably get away with dirty flashing (not doing a factory reset between flashes) but if you run into any issues, do a full phone wipe (wipe system, data and cache) then flash the new version of the ROM.
Team Acid strives to remain compliant to the GPL. We provide the full sources to our ROMs here:
https://github.com/teamacid/
To build CM11 follow the official Cyanogenmod guide for the vibrantmtd here:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Build_for_vibrantmtd
MAKE SURE YOU REPLACE vibrantmtd FOR galaxys4gmtd WHEN FOLLOWING THE STEPS FOR THE GUIDE
You will also need the local manifests which you can find here:
https://github.com/teamacid/teamacid.github.com/tree/master/manifests/sgh-t959v/CM11-TWRP
To learn how to use a local manifest, check Cyanogenmod's guide here:

If you need help building this ROM please reply on this thread here.
There is no separate Q&A thread. You can ask your questions by replying in this thread.
This includes any questions or bug reports you may have.

One minor bug to report: When I went into "Settings" then "Display & Lights" then "Advanced Settings" I received a blank screen for a few sec then "Unfortunately, Advanced Settings has stopped." Had to force close "Settings" after that.
For the screen capture go to Settings>Buttons>Power Menu
Thank you for great ROM :good::good:
Yea, this ROM is bada**. It has brought new life to a worn down tired old phone. By far the best ROM that has ever been made for our little SGS4G. Mine had become stagnant as an every day daily, but now with this new life injected into it, I'm going to just keep rolling with it till it actually dies. Thanks Team Acid!!!!

2 things, are you on the latest 0623 version? (I had issues with previous versions) Also, did you flash the new version 5 Play Services? I found that it is a battery killer. I flashed the updated services and then downgraded back to 4.4, and have insane battery life. Not sure what it up with services, but the new version just drains terribly.
If all else fails, do a factory wipe and reflash both the ROM and Gapps and see if it fixes it. Take a look at your Battery Profile and see what is using your juice. (Also install Greenify if you have not already)

CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. Good work there I assumed this is for the single sim LTE model, but should this work for the single sim WCDMA ?
Sent from my D2305
@galaxyfreak
I have updated camera, gps and arch config. Probably we should add some more sony defs but please test how it is now. Logcat should look differently now or eventaually saying it's missing other parameters.
volunteering my assistance for this project, I can't install CM11 on my phone as it is my daily driver, but if you need someone to help read through logs etc, I would be happy to help
I would love to install CM11 to help developers solve some problems, but my model is D2306, I have root but no one made CWM for this model on KK. How can I proceed? D2306 is Single SIM, LTE, South America variant.

did you test your updates? As I am building it now with some mods of my own.
Galaxyfreak / lozohcum added my to the M2Dev github (thanx ). If you guys like, I have setup M2Dev on my review site. I think it is better working for all of us to commit to there for commits that require testing. Only thing to do is to add my gerrit user to M2Dev so we can actually push to github from the review
Also, is the issue list in the OP complete? NFC? BT/Wifi tethering? To name some?
Looking forward to do some nice things here

now some devtalk (I see a lot of Q&A talk in a dev section)
@galaxyfreak / @lozohcum see my reimplement of primadriver here
I have re-imported it from caf. Now working, and without unbalanced irq's.
For ril (or actually, the problem might reside in qmuxd I think), first step to be taken is replace all firmware blobs that are taken from T2 ultra by blobs pulled from M2. I have already done so here
Now the device is able to power up the modem.
Ril is not working yet. For now, I am using the prebuilt ril blobs. Will now recompile without them and test that, also to check the qmuxd theory I have.

On firmware, yeah, I left T2U firmware because on stock firmwares are stored on /persist partition and so I was feeling lucky

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I want to build a ROM for Galaxy Ace Plus. Where do I start?
A: I'm looking into providing a tutorial soon so that other users can also build ROMs for our phone.
Q: Lollipop. When?
A: When KitKat for our phone is stable, Lollipop would be considered. But now, nope.
Q: I found a fix for a bug. Where do I send it?
A: You can PM it to me, or post it in the thread. ALL FIXES ARE WELCOME.
Q: Your sources?
A: All my sources are on my GitHub profile. I make sure that all my GitHub uploads can be built successfully before I publish them in order to avoid a lot of build errors.
Q: I want a transparent status bar. How do I do that?
A: /system/build.prop should be ro.config.low_ram=false (unchanged), then open Settings > Performance (you will only see this after enabling Developer Options, which you could do by going to Settings > About Phone and tapping the Build Number 7 times) > then check Force High-End Graphics then reboot.
ThankGod..!!!
There is still a ray of hope for our phone.!!

I'm aiming for the camera fix. Right now the camera is being detected in the kernel, but could not load it because it seems to not read the Camera HAL module. The next build will be using a different version of the android frameworks that would allow the loading of the camera HAL. Right now the only problems we have in my logcats are the proprietary parts that Samsung did not make fully open-source.
For instance, our camera is a proprietary version of msm7x27a and even though there are other similar cameras on the similar boards, ours contain some lines of code from Samsung that we cannot reverse engineer, making it hard to re-create the camera module.
thanks

Thanks. All that's left to resolve is the WebKit lag. Starting to upload Build #2 right now. Build #3 should be in the works very soon. I want Build #3 to be a final stable release, so I'm hoping for more bug reports during Build #2 so that I can work on the remaining bugs for Build #3.
As for camcorder, same issue with other 4.x ROMs for Ace Plus. Native camcorder doesn't work properly, but using third-party apps work.
Well done Liam, you are a great developer!!! Thank you so much....I will try build #2...I hope to see a stable release on our ace plus...

Hm. That might have something to do with the fix I applied recently for the camera.
Have you tried using the Xposed Module for it? If it works, then I'll put that method into OP for a temporary fix as I work on reverting to the old code. As for your link, it's broken.
Thanks for reporting!

CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github Repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit our Gerrit Code Review. Your changelog is whatever was merged into gerrit.

4. Perform a NANDroid backup of your current ROM (Optional)
5. Wipe data & cache partitions of your device
6. Flash CyanogenMod.
7. Optional: Install the Google Apps addon package.

Disclaimer
These notes are old and do not apply to recent builds.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Side Notes:
I initially made these builds to test some work I am doing with the proprietary apps on the Portable. But since no one else has released cm builds for the tablet, I figured I might as well. Unjustified Dev did the vast majority of the work on the kernel and device tree. I only did a bit of work to enable the modem. Attached are the two patches I made to the framework to allow controller pairing to work. Also attached is a flashable zip of the proprietary apps. Do note that these do not work as intended and should not be used with great expectations. The controller will pair and seems to work indefinitely (unlike on the Portable), but audio is always forwarded to the headphone jack on the controller regardless of something being plugged in. The Shield Hub can be installed, but the Grid section is not even available as a selection (again, unlike the Portable, which gets into the grid stuff but segfaults mediaserver). If anyone has reverse engineering or research skills, help would be much appreciated in smoothing out the problems here.
The North American LTE build is reported to work as expected on the Rest of World LTE model. I have not finished research on what all the stock build differences are. But it should be safe to use the build on either model.
Installing now, I'll let you know. I appreciate the build, I really think this tablet would benefit Cyanogenmod. But they all have locked up the touchscreen for me. Only comes back after reboot.
Really appreciate you putting this together. Can't wait to get CM on my Shield!

Let it boot up and just basic set up, very smooth and fluid, just like CM should be. I let it go to sleep a half dozen times and it woke right up, touchscreen and all. So far so good.
I'm still getting touch fail, but it's getting better. It took almost a day before it started. But after turning the screen off and on a few times it comes back. Haven't had to reboot yet.

But...but the ROM's only been up for 2 hours. It "took almost a day" isn't even possible. Unless I'm missing something, which must be the case haha.
ROM works just fine on the WiFi model, except for obvious (and obnoxious) data indicator in status bar, and mobile network options in settings, any way to just chop those out, maybe in a WiFi build? As like I said it works fine otherwise.
I posted a link of a prior build to some of the other tablet devs yesterday, that's where he got it from.
Yes, this is a build for the North American LTE tablet since that is what I have. I can run off a build for wifi-only, but it will be tomorrow before I get to that. I eventually want to get a unified build of this that will enable the data stuff for the LTE model and hide it all on the wifi model. Shouldn't be terribly difficult, but that's further down the road.

Awesome to hear
The gps works, took a while for the first lock, but locks in seconds after that. Compass is 180° off, pointing north, indicates south
Alright, here is the wifi only build. I have not tested flashing it since I don't have time right now. But the only difference between this and the lte build is marking it as wifi only and not including the modem libs. Also disregard the day difference in the filename between this and the lte build, it's the same code base. I'll link this in the first post if I get a couple positive comments on it working.

Just got it up and working an tested (doesn't work on MultiROM but I figured as much because Pac doesn't either) and everything seems to work 100% fine.
I've tried to get touch to break after deep sleep with no avail. So for now, for me, it's great! Touch responsiveness is great, and its performance seems to be on par if not better than stock, not that I could get stock to even studder at anything.
Does this ROM support HDMI out, Shield controller and the stylus?

The stylus and HDMI out I can confirm working. The controller I never bought because I owned a Moga PRO before buying the tablet, so you'll have to try that out yourself.
It should work with multirom as long as you have the latest twrp and multirom. Bogdacutu posted those toward the end of his multirom thread. The official releases won't work.
The stylus works and seems accurate, but none of the specific apps are included and I don't know if the pressure sensitive part works. I haven't tried HDMI, but the report above says it works. Once other show stopping problems like the grid and controller stuff is worked out, I'll look into reimplementing console mode. Should be pretty easy. As mentioned in my second post, the controller pairs, but isn't completely working. Like it won't remember the pairing and you'll have to repair on every reconnect.

Yes, I was using the latest MultiROM with the latest TWRP.
Also WiFi often disconnects, and stays on "saved" until I reconnect it.
Great news!
Firs of all, thank you for sharing and the team work.
I'm newbie with Android roms but in the past I've compiled and tunned linux kernels (since Linux was 0.9...) I've been playing with cm12 and nvidia sources without success... I've too much to learn...
I ask if this rom is suitable for wx_un_do model (RoW LTE). Anyway, I'm dowloading sources for playing (perhaps to adapt to wx_un_do if necessary and I'm able to...). I would like to help....
One more question... Is it necessary to add vendor directory from nvidia sources... ? How are proprietary (licensed) files managed in the source ?
Thnx a lot again for this work.
PS: Very interesting if we can count with nvidia apps in cm12... it would be the "perfect" scenario :good:

I think answer to myself about proprietary files...
github.com/ShieldTabDev/proprietary_vendor_nvidia
Is this ok?
Thnx.
Flashed the LTE rom on my Wifi unit. I have been using it since last night and so far so good, no touchscreen issues yet!
Only issue is auto connecting WiFi. I am very happy to finally be rid of the stock ROM lag ☺
nice... ..using SuperPichu's Custom Lollipop Kernel, Kernel for the Nvidia Shield Tablet with this rom no issues so far.!

Except for the camera bugs, seems to be stable. I've read somewhere about Sony releasing new sources for camera. Are these new sources used in this ROM?

You are correct in that Sony will be releasing new binaries for camera and this is indeed what we are using for PA on Sony. However this work will take time, but we will in the end have Nexus like support for Sony devices.

That's what we are waiting for, Nexus like support :highfive:
However due to that nasty reversed fish-eye people just gave up, since Sony didn't release proper binaries and blobs. Lets see if that gets fixed with those releases.
Yeah. Making the camera work properly seems to be the biggest difficulty in developing for the Z3C. I will test every build and give feedback. Thanks!
@tomgus1 thanks for the rom !!
@juliopw source about new camera blobs ? Thanks !
@snaky90 Can't remember where I saw it. Only found this old post. Sorry. I will look into it again.
I have a lot of problems with this rom! Sometimes I have lag and my phone has randoms reboots. The camera worked at the first time with a very bad quality. Now I can not acces to the camera because I got a error code.
Please fix this problems
@TomGus 1 hi I can't find your sources on the official PA repository. Are you using the sony open devices repos for device tree etc?

Hi, for the reboots etc this is a kernel issue. Currently we are using the 1.2.2 branch from sonyxperiadev which has an issue with vidc/iommu. This is fixed in the 1.3.3 branch but currently Camera is not yet supported. Once support is added we will move over. I can confirm that it is fixed as I am currently running from that branch at the sacrifice of no camera.
For your current camera issue please try a reboot or going into recovery and wiping dalvik/cache and trying again. Had this happen once and a reboot fixed it.
We are using Sony Open Devices repositories for all Sony Devices as seen in our dependency files.

More than I'd like but Sony has some cross-overs with Nexus which causes incompatibility.
As reported on G+ here a short sum-up after a week of usage PA on z3c.
Installation broken
Installation expects the getprop("ro.product.device") to be "aries", but mine was z3c, therefore failing. Had to edit the META-INF/com/google/android/updater-script to get it working (exchange "aries" with "z3c").
Tim: Fixed for next release.
Voice Calling volume not changable (very loud)
https://plus.google.com/u/0/+GeorgGrabler/posts/FY9xZZuHMde
Tim: No fix yet.
Voice calling crashes most of the time (beeping or no sound at all), rebooting / locking up the phone (huge issue, makes the ROM unusable for me now)
https://plus.google.com/u/0/+GeorgGrabler/posts/GF2Eac9xtcn
Tim: Fixed next release.
NFC broken
https://plus.google.com/u/0/+GeorgGrabler/posts/iejmnYxSDkh
Tim: Can't reproduce.
=> Got a log of me because he can't reproduce it. Maybe that will help (does not happen if you have a USB attached).
Log at: http://pastebin.com/brZiHsky
Fast Charge not working
https://plus.google.com/+GeorgGrabler/posts/7kKjXJDKQB7
Tim: Will never work, not part of Sony AOSP.
=> Sad, but ok .
Camera issues
Well known, we'll have to see how the open drivers get along over time. They got better in the past, but still there are issues.
I sometimes even get "could not connect to camera" after making a picture.
Can't use the rom for production until the calling issue is solved.

bad news: My recovery was deleted by aospa
recovery isn't touched by aospa. You can't use the standard adb commands to get to recovery though, you have to use the "hardware method".
If your recovery is really gone, just re-flash it, that's not a big issue.

Just wanted to add: AOSPA team and Tim - great work there. It looks like we could get a really usable rom some time soon (though, the volume highness will still be an annoyance if it can't be fixed ).
---------- Post added at 01:19 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:42 AM ----------
Last but not least, thanks PA team for all the work and effort. I may not be able to use the ROM yet, even though, I'd love to. You have been and are doing great work, and I hope you'll manage to bring us a good AOSP(A) image some day (rather sooner than later if you ask me ).
Don't take my reports and disappointment as a grain of salt but constructive feedback.

@tomgus1 : Calling volume sound had already been a problem in CM12.1 sometime in 2015. Was solved then. Maybe you can find some useful infos over CM JIRA:

the new version 6.0.3 is already working with the camera?
I found a little time on the site and the AOSP rom has a new version 6.0.3, someone already tested the camera is working?
http://get.aospa.co/official/aries
Camera is working, but still the same bad quality. We have to wait for the opensource drivers to get better. Sony is working on this, but it's still a long road ahead as it seems.
Lock-Ups have been fixed, the voice issue (speakers / loud uncontrollable voice level during calls) isn't (yet).
