So I bought my husband a cheap smart watch without knowing the first thing about them (first mistake), and I asked the seller if it could be used WITHOUT a sim card - just using Bluetooth to connect to the phone. They said yes it could so I bought it (apparently 2nd mistake lol).
Do any of you know - can it be used without a sim card and still access messaging and Facebook? He can make and receive calls fine but can't access Facebook or messaging at all. If he needs a sim card we'll probably just have to get rid of it because his phone service does not use sim cards (straight talk - non BYOD plan) so he would have to get a separate plan and phone number just to use the stupid thing. I mean he can always just use it for phone calls only but it seems kind of pointless if you don't have messaging.
Any advice would be appreciated

I have an odd problem. It started when having lost my phone I asked my sim card provided to suspend my mobil number in case of theft. Thankfully I found it and asked my provider to remove the suspension. Now I apparently have no signal and I'm unable to make or recieve calls or messages, but I can surf the net? My phone was directly from htc via handtech and can use any sim from any supplier. I've tried my sim in an old phone and it works fine and I also have a pay as you go sim which I use to benefit from free calls between mobils an land lines on the same network. I've looked at all the setting and can't see anything obviously wrong.? Can anybody help please
Now that I have my MT4G I have an MT3G lying around with an inactive sim card in it. I keep it on the wifi at my house so I can play with it while my other phone is charging.
It would be awesome if I could find a way to make free VOIP calls with this phone.
I've played with google voice and skype, but gv requires an active line and skype costs money.
Has anyone found a better solution?
What would be even cooler is if there is a way to use the wifi calling on my old phone and have it connect with the sim card that's inside the new phone.

I thought of buying her a wifi tablet. Much cheaper and will do the trick for her. as she only uses the internet for some facebook and communication
The problem is: She needs to deal with contacts for using Whatsapp and Viber, even if she doesn't actually need a sim card or traditional dialing
It seems that I have to pay for a 3G tablet just for this matter, because i don't thing there's a way to make a wifi tablet deal - exactly - with numbers and contacts and sync with google contacts the same way a 3G tablet does.
So I wanted to ask this: is it really impossible to have phone and dialer the usual way on these devices (just like when you use a regular tablet with no SIM card)? Is it totally software oriented or it really can't do without a SIM card slot?

I have a problem that someone here might be able to help me with. I have recently moved between countries (say from country A to country B). I keep WhatsApp under my phone line in country A, because the vast majority of my contacts use that number to contact me. I still pay a small monthly fee to keep the line. Initially I had no problems with WhatsApp, I simply inserted the new SIM card from country B into the phone I brought from Country A.
However, now I have bought a new phone (Moto X 2013 (=no SD slot) and I am trying to link WhatsApp to my usual number, in country A. Even though I still own that line, I can't receive any SMS/calls from it in country B. Unfortunately, WhatsApp doesn't let me use alternate methods of verification. I am stuck with using my old phone (Galaxy s3 mini) for WhatsApp.
Is there a way to move WhatsApp from my old to my new phone, in a way that no verification is required?
I have the same problem with Telegram, but (unfortunately) my contacts use WhatsApp the most.
Both phones are rooted. The new one has the bootloader unlocked. I am willing to tweak these features if necessary ( I will need proper guidance though, I have never played wit them before).

I'm always being shy to post, but this is an amazing place for information, this time i couldn't find anything that I was looking for so here it is the question:
- I have bought LG v30 from South Korea unlocked 128gb phone
- its recognize Verizon sim card
- 4LTE internet is working
- text messages or voice phone calling is not working, if something else is calling me it goes to voice mail.
I have called to Verizon tech support they told me that they cant enter manually the IMEI address since such phone doesn't exist yet in they data base.
