Earlier today I did a factory reset through the OS on my shield tablet and when it rebooted it showed the NVIDIA logo but just a black screen after that. I tried to get into CWM and try to flash an new rom but there is not recovery image.
I then tried to flash a new recovery image through ADB fast boot but ADB wont find my deceive. So is my device bricked or how can I make adb find my device?

You can't flash factory images via ADB. It has to be using Fastboot, from the bootloader in a custom recovery. If you can get to the bootloader, try that.
You might find Shield RAM v1.1 helpful. Just swap out the OTA included in the app's folder, with the one you wanna use.

Totally n00bed my Nexus S.
Was running the latest Miui and installed ROM Manager. Decided to download stock Android and install.
Now the phone is boot-looped (stuck on the Nexus boot image) and Recovery seems to be gone.
I tried pushing the recovery image file but adb won't detect the device.
Any advice?
I had that once when I installed stock. I fixed it by going into recovery and clearing cache and dalvik
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
I can't boot into recovery though - It's missing.

you need to install the proper nexus s drivers.easiest way is to go to the pdanet website http://junefabrics.com/android/ , download their free product, and let it install the drivers for you. did you flash the recovery through rom manager originally? anyways, then wipe(data. factory reset) and reflash the stock rom. you always have to wipe before flashing a DIFFERENT rom, or youll get stuck in a bootloop.
I installed the 64-bit drivers from PDA already but I'm running XP 64-bit (could that be the issue?)

maybe?????
Will adb still work even though I can't boot my phone and turn usb debugging on?
Unfortunately I have 64-bit windows at work, but I'll try on my Win7 or Mac at home.
Still can't get adb to or fastboot to recognize the device...maybe I'm missing something...
I have no recovery and can't boot - what can I do?
Bump. In the exact same mess.
I was on MIUI ICS and tried to go to a stock GB rom, ended up stuck at the boot animation in the fresh rom (which kept looping). Recovery was a no-go too. I tried using adb to push another stock rom which again, installed but got stuck at the boot animation. After that even adb stopped detecting the phone.
What do I do now? theadb how did you fix it?
ADB is working as I plugged in my HD2, which was detected immediately.
Er bump?
Use fastboot to flash a new recovery, then boot into recovery and do what is needed. Recovery will probably be replaced by stock each time you attempt to boot into android while the stock ROM is installed.
I'm in the exact same situation and I don't really think there's anything we can do. We can't enter fastboot. We can't go into download mode. We can't boot into recovery there is literally zilch that we can do to fix the phone.
Quick note: I'm very new to all this so I don't really know entirely what's going on.
Alright, basically I'm trying to install the Paranoid Android ROM and I've run into a bit of an issue. I've unlocked the bootloader and flashed the ClockworkMod Recovery. The problem I've ran into is that when I go into the CWM recovery and attempt to do anything with ADB it comes up with "error: device not found"
What am I doing wrong?
Sidenote: ADB can find my phone if it's booted up normally, it's only when I boot to the CWM custom recovery that it can't find it...
I think you are doing it wrong way buddy..
Boot in to Bootloader mode not in CWM Recovery, then try with fastboot and check again..
I did boot into bootloader, then went to CWM and tried to push the ROM using ADB but it wasn't recognising my phone.
Doesn't matter now anyway. I got around it by literally just drag and dropping the zip files onto my phone's internal memory when it was booted up normally and connected to my PC. Then I rebooted into the bootloader, flashed CWM and installed from ZIP. That method was far easier than messing around with ADB etc.
Backstory: I tried to load Cyanogenmod on my phone; but first I had to load TWRP recovery in order to get to load it. This is where the issue came; I decided to go the easy route and attempted to install it through Flashify (an app on the Google Play store); upon restarting my phone; it was bricked. I went into EVERYTHING, when I tried to go into recovery it would just send me through the bootloop and then send me to AP Fastboot.
Confused, I called Motorola; and was notified and Flashify had removed my prevoius recovery and failed to but TWRP resulting in this.
Issue: So what I did is I got the CWM recovery specific for my phone (XT926) and went into ADB fastboot and typed "fastboot flash cwm.img", from my ADB folder of course. Then when I booted into recovery, nothing happened; it would just send me through the bootloop again. Please help.

Try another recovery / another version. Did the trick for me and you have nothing to lose
I have 2 XT925s. I bricked one to the point that I could boot to fastboot but could not even get into stock recovery. I was running stock 4.4.2.
I did the following.
I got the DROID_RAZR_HD_Utility_1.41. I used the TWRP 2.7.1.0 in that utility specifically for XT925.
I used fastboot to manually flash TWRP into the recovery partition.
DO NOT reboot past boot menu. Right after flashing, boot into recovery. That should give you TWRP.
I used TWRP to Install CM11 snapshot. I had to manually flash into the modem partition, the modem file also obtained from the above utility. You will need to flash in gapps for 4.4.2.
That recovered the bricked phone.
Of note, I was able to flash TWRP in the other phone. Backed it up. Transfered the backed up OEM ROM into the phone running CM. And get it to run stock ROM.
I now have one running CM11, and one running stock 4.4.2. I'm just comparing battery life. I've noticed CM11 has a smaller memory footprint than stock 4.4.2.
Cheers
did not work for me anywhere to be found stock 4.4.2 recovery img for 926?
Hi, I got shield tablet, first version, previous owner brick the device, it stuck on AICP logo and not booting. I can enter in fastboot mode, device is unlocked, but it display bootloader version UNDEF_BUIDL, when I try go to recovery mode I got nvidia logo and black screen. I also try install the stock recovery, do all steps in official instructions, no errors and no changes, It's still bricked on custom rom logo. Any chances to fix it? I'don't know what to do now

You flashed manually via fastboot every file? Even the bootloader?
if you mean "fastboot flash boot boot.img", then yes
Now i can enter in recovery mode, and run TWRP, but i takes veeeery long time to boot :/ In TWRP wipe data failed, there are errors in data and cache partition, I can't format it or repait, It shows that partitions are presents, but they have 0MB size
Perhaps try flashing new firmware? It should be somewhere on Steel01's thread (5.0 bootloader, or nougat bootloader or something like that) for lineageos 14.1, it is a requirement to run los on this device and it fixes some bootloader stuff. Though, you may want to get a second opinion on this one because I am no developer whatsoever.

I can't flash rom in TWRP, when I try I get status failed :/ I don't know what to d next :/
Problem is in mounting cache and data partition in internal memory. I think l tried all ways to do that, last one was in adb shell, mount /system ok, mount /data and mount /cache not ok
my conclusions:
I can't flash anything on this tablet, even recovery, I figure it out because I try to flash TWRP version 3.2.1 it works only when i run boot TWRP in fastboot on computer, when I do it in device(run in fastboot mode, select recovery) i got after several minutes TWRP version 2... So, it means that internal memory is broken?
Mine does that too flamner, not sure what to do. I will try a bootloader flash perhaps
Ok.... So i unlocked my bootloader on a verizon pixel and installed magisk with a patch boot image. no problem
I just tried to install TWRP (3.2.2). I booted the image first, the flashed the TWRP zip in the booted image. Then TWRP would boot, but only TWRP would boot. it would never progress to booting up the rom.
So i found a thread that suggested flashing the magisk patched boot image.... that just made it worse. It would only boot to recovery... and NO FASTBOOT. I was able to get to the menu and use adb to side load the latest OTA. Now i can boot into the ROM and use the phone as usual
However, I still don't have fastboot in recovery mode. I don't think its drivers. I must have mucked up recovery. It gotta be related to the TWRP snafu. I can boot into the stock boot loader and my PC beeps and recognizes the phone, when i use the arrows to go to recovery, my pc loses the device. My PC just can't see the pixel in recovery mode.
Not sure how to proceed
Can I side load the factory image after removing the wipe tag (-w)? Do i need to factory reset?
Am an idiot.... fastboot works in bootloader.... please delete
