OTG - General Questions and Answers

Hi xda,, im using lenovo a6000 plus smartphone.. i'd rooted my phone..there is any option to support otg service to my phone?

If your device supports OTG then there will be a option of USB OTG
under the Storage.
Settings-->Storage-->USB OTG
If it's not there that means your device doesnot supports OTG.
There's no way to make your device support OTG even by rooting.
It's a feature given when the device is manufactured.

nexus 4 does not support usb otg. the only way is to have a custom rom with usb otg AND have a Y micro usb cable to give power to the disc.
in other words nexus only supports external powered usb otg.

this a list of compatible kernels. somewhere in the forums there is a thread for this if i remember that so search and you will find it.

[Q] Samsung tab 3 SMT211 enable OTG ! ( any hardware hack ?! )

Samsing tab 3 SMT211 does not supports otg. Even after rooting it will not enable it. Because otg is both software and hardware related.
1) I believe that tab's motherboard must supply power output to otg cable in order to use Pendrive
2) Also, there should be some Driver / software to access Pendrive
So i am theorizing that if i can power my pendrive externally in someways and also install required driver in tab then i can ACCESS Pendrive in my Tab.
[Below is a picture of connecting my micro USB Pendrive to tab and powebank at the same time to power my usb ]
And i am missing the knowledge of what driver to be installed in order to use pendrive.
Please Shower me some knowledge. Am i correct. Can i Access pendrive in my Smt211 tab ??
