Cannot update from OTANXT-L29 - Mate 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
I hace bought a international version of mate 8 form a friend who went europe. I have the NXT-L29C185B103 firmware. In Türkiye we have to register our imei to passport, but sometimes people copy imei's of other devices. My device has first imei of a benq a70 and a second imei of Nokia 5210 Can this be the reason for OTA update not working? Has anyone got the update from OTA?

Hi, I haven't received the OTA update either so I installed the update found on these forums and it's working well. I've seen databases list imei numbers before that appear to being to older phones. I don't think that would stop you getting the update.

Try also with Chinese ROMs.
There is a possibility that having those non-original IMEIs you will never be able to update or flash: but why the IMEIs have been changed?

The original IMEI's were not registered. In Türkiye, if you bring a phone from outside, you have to register it to your passport. Some people bring phones in their pockets to sell without the registration. If you can find someone to register you can. Or you can copy old phones IMEI numbers to trick the registry. I bought this Mate 8 this way.

So you don't even know which were your 2 original IMEIs? Do you have the original Mate 8 box?
Do you know how these "old" IMEIs were inputted into your Mate 8? Maybe this operation corrupted some critical configurations...
Anyway, please remember that changing the original IMEI is not a legal activity and this subject and related involvements might not be appreciated by the moderators.

[Q] htc m8 imei question

Hi guys
Ive bought a new htc m8 in turkey and it has a fake imei as you have to register your imei when you bring a phone from outside the country. So the phone shops put a fake one. Is there a way to get the original imei back on my device? Ive only 4 language options anf my screen brightness at max is dissapointing.
Im sorry if ive post it in the wrong topic.
Anyone?

Favor from anyone who received the MHA-L29C432B138 OTA from Huawei.

I am trying to reverse engineer deeper into how OTA update authentication works. I'm hoping that someone who got this update from Huawei via OTA (without using FunkyHuawei) can send me a PM with their primary and secondary IMEIs. Thanks in advance.
Thanks Duraaraa for your support.
I live in Italy. When i receive the update (ota), I'll send you my primary and secondary IMEI.

It's done with Huawei's private key. It's not possible to re-generate it, unless you find Huawei's private key. Perhaps you can become a ninja and infiltrate Huawei to find it?

OTA and full package just allowed for my IMEI that you have in PM. I checked like one hour ago nothing and now suddenly it is allowed.
Downloading right now.

I just confirmed. C432B138 is now being signed by Huawei for all IMEIs.
The same thing happened with B126, where there was an early rollout, and a late rollout.
I can make sure that everyone can get the update with the early rollout for the next update by using FunkyHuawei, but unfortunately, I did not capture the non-encoded IMEI of a phone approved for early rollouts, so I was not able to look into it deeper. Hopefully someone who received the early rollout will share next time
Sorry if this has been mentioned but I wanted to confirm my fully converted China AL00 to L29 has just received B138 OTA, I'm so happy Thank you duraaraa for all your help.

Great. That's the first confirmation of a successful OTA update after rebranding, so it's good to know it works as expected.
I think those who rebrand to Europe will not get the early rollout (unless they use FunkyHuawei to get it), but will get the OTA when the full rollout happens. Then, there are a few with a magic IMEI which are approved to install the updates earlier. I am trying to figure out the logic behind that, but I need more information. I have found a skeleton key for the C636 region, though.
hopefully C432B15x is already in works and you'll get some info from someone with magic IMEIs soon .
thanks again.

Indeed, let's hope so. I also hope for a LON-L29C432 build to be signed, but I've seen nothing from that yet. Nor have I seen any way to get MHA-L09C432 signed.
I'm interested in the US model and Alexa, as well.

Hello Duraara and thanks for figuring it out. Can you advise why many users did not received B138 for C432 version? Is there any dependency that blocks it?

Interesting. Should I try using another SIM from same country or just wait till Huawei will release it for my IMEI?
What's also interesting some folks reporting having B138 notification but not anymore.

I don't know whether another SIM will help, and I also don't know if Huawei will ever release it for your phone. It's all up to Huawei. I have an exploit that lets me offer it to all phones, but in developing the exploit I was not able to determine exactly what causes Huawei to push the update to a phone or to not push it, unfortunately.
So the B138 update is slowly running out?
If so, the will those who used Funky Huawei to flash, recover phone receive it?
Thx

It can't be known for sure. It depends on Huawei, and which phones they decide to push it to, and under which circumstances.

Update doubt!

Hi mates, I have a p20 and currently I am on EML-L09 8.1.0.135(C40), and I have seen in firmware finder that there is a version of Android Pie that my telephone supports EML-L09C40E6R1P11B239 (9.0.0.239) I want to install it but through the methods of firmware finder I haven´t been able to get it( dns, proxy ). Is there any other way of installing the firmware? I have it on my computer. My bootloader is locked. Thanks in advance.

Hi!
Afaik FirmwareFinder only supports Androidd 8.0 not 8.1. But I had the same problem and the final solution was pretty surprising. At first I called the Hotline to "accelerate" the update. That's a method that can be applied by Huawei 8 weeks after the rollout of a new version. They promised that I would receive the update within 2-4 week. Nothing happend. So I continued searching the web and stumbled about one tipp. "Change your Sim-Card."
Yeah, sure, that can't be the reason, I thought. But after 2 more weeks I ordered a Prepaid-Sim, replaced my normal one, rebooted and here they were! 3 Updates in a row straight to Pie. I shared my solution on a small german forum and it worked for 3 other guys as well.
It's possible that I'm totally, totally wrong but it's worth a try. Good luck!
thank you very much for answer I would try it asap!!

CPH2025CW - Flash Global?

I have a CPH2025 running CW though I purchased it from Amazon UK and can confirm it's Unlocked Network wise, is there no way of flashing just a Global CPH2025 to it so I'm able to get updates quicker?
Nope
There's a flashing tool used by Oppo, Realme and OnePlus phones called MSN Download Tool.
It's what they use internally and there are always leaked / cracked versions available for OnePlus, but not so much Oppo. IF you managed to find the right version you could in theory change your software version. You'd need the tool and .ofp file (which is the full firmware).
I have a couple of cracked versions of the tool and OFP files that I stumbled across when trying to convert my Chinese version to global, but not willing to try on my CPH2025 in case I brick it (plus I have the global version so nothing to gain by doing so). Sure Oppo would reflash under warranty if you could be bothered with the inconvenience of not having a phone for a week.

Unlikely, there are only a few leaked versions of the full firmware, I have found A14 and A29, as ColorOS 11 isn't even out yet is say there is zero chance of getting a leaked version that someone has cracked.... Just have to wait.
It is actually possible to change to global! I put a small tutorial up on Twitter to show you how to do it.

Does it factory reset the phone? How is 4g/5g performance when you switch regions? I imagine Singapore would use different bands... And how does it look with Google Pay, certifications, Widevine etc?
Update: Never mind, tried it, the *# code is actually for a realme device, can't find one specific to Find X2 or X2 Pro, and have no idea if there is a way to extract a list of those secret codes from the device itself...

The *# works on the Find X2 Pro. It's not Realme-specific. Google Pay still works for me and didn't notice any mobile data difference. No factory reset either
I've tried and it works. Changed the region a few times, tried Singapore, UK, then the multi-language E - all worked fine. It even disabled and enabled region specificNone of them have me a ColorOS 11 update though which is why I was doing it.
However, I changed to Thailand True and now this procedure doesn't work. Now stuck on Thailand ?. My fault for playing too much!

Thanks for the post Adam, you've made a lot of people very happy. This change in regional settings had enabled people to get ColorOS 11 early, replace carrier specific software for a more generic version, get features like the Theme Store and call recording working and even opened up the possibility of having dual SIM on a single SIM variant!
Cheers buddy! ?
