Mod help for a newbie - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note5

I was wondering if someone could help me mod my Sprint Note5 to show the current carrier in the top left corner? It would be helpful for when I'm roaming, either domestically or internationally. I know it shows it when you slide down the notification bar, so I'm sure there's a way it can be done. Could anyone help me with this? I'm new to the site so I apologize if this is in the wrong section, but I think it's right. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Like that ?

Yeah, like that!

R u rooted?

I'm not yet. I want to, but Idk if I want to break my samsung pay option

I'd like to be able to have my carrier name in the top like you have, but I'd want it to change with whichever network I'm connected to. I don't want it to be static and added manually with like xposed or something.

Other than xposed I know of no other way .I can also change it to whatever id like .it don't necessarily have to say the carrier name. But its up to u if ud like to root. I personally don't care for Samsung pay

[Q] For the US T-Mobile One S, Has Anyone Figured Out How to Disable T-Mobile Name ID

I'm unrooted and I don't plan to root. The ability to disable system apps has really been great, but this one won't let me disable it. The disable box is inactive in the apps section. Recently, after a call I've been getting popups that my trial has ended and do I want to purchase. This is very annoying. I know someone was able to disable it by disabling literally every app until he got to it, but I'd like to know if there is one specific app/system part that needs to be disabled first, making Name ID disable-able. Someone must've figured it out...
Just call t-Mobile and kindly ask them to take you out of the list for notifications.
There was an option for me to not use it when it popped up, if I remember right.
It's a feature they add to your plan. it starts as a free trial. I don't know when they start charging for it. I called in and had it removed
I looked over the app. You have to specifically accept the charges by hitting "Confirm."

Did doing that remove the app from your device? Or allow you to disable it at least?
Sent from my HTC One S using XDA Premium
ive come across this also.. there is no way to Disable it in the system apps..
it does ask you after the like one week trial if you want to add it but still takes up space in the app drawer.. id like to find a way to remove it if possible too without root.. but if it would only be able to be removed with root then ill have to break down and do it..

[APP][2.2+] Where R U? - Location via SMS

Hi guys,
So I decided to create an app based on a simple idea my fiance gave me, and thought I'd come to you guys for some feedback.
In a nutshell, it's an app that will respond to an SMS trigger with the users current location.
1. Someone SMSs you "Where R U?"
2. Your phone works out its location to the closest 100m (if possible)
3. The app generates a google maps link
4. The app SMSs it back
That's the core of the app, but I've also created a "premium" version that has some other features such as a customisable sms trigger, geotagging, blacklist/whitelist options among others
What I'm hoping to get is a bit of feedback on my app and perhaps the way I'm going about a paid version of it. I'm very open to suggestions and I'm happy to provide the apk to the full version for those who want to try it.
Here's the link
Cheers!

Very cool. Thank you for developing

thankyou for sharing. i was looking for this application for a long time.

Dame Good,
Thanks guys! Appreciate it
by the way I have an issue
Hi, I was wondering if you can please provide information about how to use the black list/white list thing in free version, because I only want to send replies only one person so if I enable white list and add that specific contact to the back list /whitelist list, then will it work or not. I need an answer for this from you and asked from you to add details about this list configuration information on the Google play

Hi chorauoc,
Simply set the blacklist type to "whitelist", then add the contact you want to the list. The app will then ignore requests from anyone else Sorry for the ambiguous use of "blacklist", but I didn't really know what else to call it I'll update the app description to make it a little easier to understand.
Thanks for the feedback!

I love this! Its a simple way for me to know where my 8 year old daughter is and make sure she is where she should be if out at a friends playing! I can see this app will become invaluae to me as my daughter gets older and more adventurous in life. Thanks for this.
One suggestion for paid version feature is hide app draw icon if at all possible? As this would stop it being messed with by said daughter who by the way knows I keep tabs on her but accepts and understands why I do so, as my mother used to say 'Only privacy any child should have is in the bathroom!' But just because she knows does not mean she won't mess

Hi mate,
Thanks for the feedback! I'll have a look at your request and see if I can get it in over the next few days
Let me know if you think of anything else.
I bought the paid app tried it out with my girlfriend but I couldn't get it to work. I used the default phrase and she sent me two messages asking "where are you?" But nothing happened. I have a note 2 on sprint, and when I clicked on last location it crashed. Nice idea though.

Hi there,
I'd be pretty keen to send you a bit of a debug version of the app to get some more info on why this is happening. I'm sure there are hundreds of possible combinations of settings and the like I missed while testing Would you be happy to install and test an apk if I sent it to you??
Can you make an improvement
Hi,
I really like this app and i would like to make a suggestion and i will be really happy if you can implement it on your app,
Ie
Can you implement an emergencies response to send the contact in the white-list, means if you could be able to identify the emergencies like not answering , sim change, not switch on for long time, etc.
If i further explain this,
Suppose I am not answering phone calls for log time period or my phone is suddenly switch off and not switch on for longer time (may be day or 3 days) , then we can assume that i may in a trouble so i would be happy to send my location via sms to my white-list contact, but at that time i may not be able to do it manually so if you can implement a way to auto response to contact that would be really nice. Also let say someone stolen my phone and tried to replace the sim card of it, so at that time you can implement a auto response massage by saying your current location as well as the new sim number (In order to do this you may have to record current sim details in a database and check periodically when a new sim change occurs ).Also if you can add a method to add pre-define locations, means if i or my contact went to home then i might be able to save my current location as home or if i or my other contact went to someplace (let say office) that we commonly goes we should be able to add it into a list, so when in the next time when my contact or i went to that places we should received sms by saying that we are in that place now (Simply means by doing this we can be sure that the person i was wondering to locate arrives safely home or any other pre-define places even i forget to send location massage via sms).
So if you can implement such a auto response method then this app will be a great one. Hope you will do this
I wil add ideas for make this app better in future :fingers-crossed:

I really like your idea with the emergency contacts, but I think it's a little out of scope for this app. Could be a good idea for my next app though
I like your 2nd idea too, but that would require constant location monitoring which can be very taxing on the phones battery. I like the idea of being able to save locations though, so the app could respond "I am currently at home" or some such You have plenty of good ideas!!
found small bug
Hi,
First of all thank you for your attention of my comments, anyway I found a small bug in this app, that is if we close this app using a task killer or clean master apps or anything have the capability of stop the service then this app not restart properly and we have to manually start the app again to get work, so can you fixed this bug, because as far as I believe the app should be in active status of anytime, hope you will consider about it, finally are you going to implement the location savings things in your app

[Q] Multiple questions about the Moto G

hi everybody!
sorry for the non-descriptive title, but i have some questions i'd like to ask here. i just got my moto g 2 days ago, i switched from a samsung galaxy s+ (with cm10.2) so this is quite the change for me, hardware and software wise.
[ANSWERED] 1. first i missed the possibility to swipe my keyboard to type, i found many different apps for that, but my question would be what is the keyboard included in cyanogenmod? because since this can 'see' everything i type i want an app for that i can trust...
[ANSWERED] 2. i really liked the cLock app for time and weather in cm, but google-ing 'clock app' wasnt the most helpful thing i've ever done ^^ so here my queston would be aswel whats the cyanogenmod cLock app and where can i find it?!
[ANSWERED] 3. next thing would be how can i get something like pdroid on this device (i had it on the sgs+)? i would need root i assume, i saw lots of different methods for that aswel. one with like contacting motorola to get the rom unlocked or something like that. so whats the easiest way to get a privacy control on the moto g? i remember something like the new android has some inbuilt setting for that?!?
[ANSWERED] 4. something that is irritating me quite a lot are the software keys, because samsung has the back key on the right side and the moto has it on the left side. also i dont understand why there would be a key for recent apps instead of a menu key. same here: i saw lots of different methods to change that, some even with adding or getting rid of lines of the code. ok i managed to install cm on my sgs, but thats a little out of my capabilities ^^ so again what would be the easiest way to change the buttons around?
[ANSWERED] 5. another thing would be, how do i turn off the vibration when using the keyboard? i tried the setting under 'sound' -> 'vibrate on touch' (or something along those lines) but that didnt turn off all of the vibration, for example its still vibrating when i use the keyboard but not anymore when i open apps or menus.
maybe there is even the possibility to install a stable version of cyanogenmod on the moto g which would solve most of my issues? but since this is running so smoothly i dont want any nightly builds, alphas or betas on this thing right now...
btw i am using the nova launcher in case that makes any difference for any of the questions above!?
also i include this screenshot with all the version numbers in it because it might be useful: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5JftqugO1xsbnh1dTBrQzZVWXc/edit?usp=sharing
thanks a bunch in advance and for reading and i hope someone is willing and able to help me out here!:fingers-crossed:
EDIT:
all the questions above have been answered! only one more question is open atm, [ here ] thanks to everyone who contributed so far!

You can install the stock google keyboard from the play store for using swype, And there is cyangenmod version available for the G, you should go to the Moto G Original Android Development section of the forum for that. The vibration option should be in your sound / keyboard settings so you just need to look better i gues.

I suggest to install Xposed framework (Root needed), and then you can have this features with Gravity Box and Xprivacy (these are modules for Xposed).
In order to root, you have to unlock the bootloader (follow the instruction on Motorola website), then install a Custom recovery (I suggest Philz one) and supersu from Play store

hi and thank you for your contribution! i have unlocked and rooted my device successfully and installed the xposed framework. i havent quite got the hang of how xprivacy works as of now since its a little different from pdroid (and somewhat confusing imo). but thats just a matter of time i guess. i'll start reading here: https://github.com/M66B/XPrivacy#xprivacy or is there a better quick start guide?
i assume i can uninstall the 'xprivacy installer' (the one from google play) after i installed 'xprivacy'? and that gravity box is for the softkeys and its this one here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2554049 ? i'll look into that tomorrow, since its getting late here and i dont wanna mess up now ^^

Mornin', you're very welcome!
Xprivacy it's kind of complicated, but that reading will help you. I admit I don't use it, but I know it gives you full control on privacy and this is what you were looking for As you said, it's just a matter of time!
Btw you can install modules directly from Xposed Installer application, so you can bypass the Play Store.
Yes that's gravity box: it's very good and popular, you can surely reverse/set all the software keys, but also do a lot of modding!
It's more intuitive than Xprivacy, just go ahead options and try them, it's safe!
Good luck and forgive my english!

i am no native english tongue myself, so i dont notice anything wrong with your english. no need to excuse, i make mistakes myself.
i was under the impression that you could do 'stupid' stuff with xprivacy, like i was able to deny my camera app access to the camera with pdroid. that was a good way to test if it was properly working. so i tried and deny firefox access to 'internet' but that didnt seem to work, but then again it especially said its no going to break apps. i dig into all of this further later on.
just a question, what would be a good way to verify it is working like its supposed to? talking about xprivacy here...
edit: and to answer my question no.5: there is another setting for vibration in the keyboard itself, so you have to go through -> language and input -> select settings on your keyboard -> vibrate on key push (or sth along those lines), so basically you have to turn it off twice.

Yeah, of course! I thought you managed this already! Keyboard is like an app itself, and has its own settings (i.e. vibration)
so i tried and deny firefox access to 'internet' but that didnt seem to work

I just tried it and i had no problem to deny the access for Firefox. When you open xprivacy in the app list tap on the Firefox Logo, not on the name or the checkbox. If you do so the details will open. If you now tick the category "Internet" then you will see that it is checked as a square, not as a hook. If it is a square it is only partially blocked. If you go now into the details of the category "Internet", you will see, that not all options are checked. Some are even marked red because they might be essential for the functionalty of the specific app. If you check also these and maybe also all others, then you can prevent Firefox of getting access to the Internet. If you check all items in Internet manually you'll see that category internet has now a hook than a square.
but then again it especially said its no going to break apps.

You can check for example all outgoing connections to the internet from your device. I have not tested this tool, or similar like that, but i will now because i just had the idea Else you can also prevent Facebook app to connect. I use Auto Hide Softkey App. I can for example prevent that it uses the overlay function, so it can not modify the UI and hide the Navbar.
Xprivacy is a very powerful tool. If you want it more simple, you can activate the in Android but Disabled inbuilt AppOPS App (search for AppOPS). But it is also less powerful.
I bought xprivacy. If you buy it, you can download the restrictions automatically and upload yours for others. You are also able to export end import the settings if licensed. Also nice that you can buy it via Paypal because i do not have a Credit Card (and i don't want).
but google-ing 'clock app' wasnt the most helpful thing i've ever done ^^

If you do so the details will open. If you now tick the category "Internet" then you will see that it is checked as a square, not as a hook. If it is a square it is only partially blocked. If you go now into the details of the category "Internet", you will see, that not all options are checked. Some are even marked red because they might be essential for the functionalty of the specific app. If you check also these and maybe also all others, then you can prevent Firefox of getting access to the Internet. If you check all items in Internet manually you'll see that category internet has now a hook than a square.

thanks for the explanation! i clicked on the firefox logo but i didnt know you can go even deeper into each section for permissions, that explains it!

well you explained it yourself pretty much, the app was designed to not break apps in the way they work but restrict them from your privat data. so when i clicked firefox'es internet permission and it had the square, i disabled some but not all of it. thats all i was saying

Also nice that you can buy it via Paypal because i do not have a Credit Card (and i don't want).

i wasnt on my computer for quiet some time so i couldnt answer on this thread, my apologies.
i bought the pro version of xprivacy with paypal too and i synced my permissions for all apps with the cloud or crowd. it could find and sync most of my apps which is a nice and easy way to get around the ridiculous amount of permissions to set for each app.
can you confirm that most of the synced crowd settings make sense in the way of privacy protection? because i havent looked too much into all those settings but even when i did i couldnt quiet understand them in depth...
also @Landrea thanks for recommending gravity box, that thing is amazing! i was able to restore most of the cyanogenmod settings i was missing, great! also i could reconfigure my softkeys, but i am thinking about this app here to maximize my usable screensize:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmd.hidesoftkeys
or
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.tsorn.FullScreen
or is there a setting for that in gravity box i missed?

You're welcome!
Check navigation bar settings in gravity box, you can change the size of the soft keys and gain space.
Go for that apps if you think you need more usable screensize (hard to believe)

bounty $100 if you can help

I need to hide this annoying warning in ongoing menu. But keep everything look as stock rom.
i just want to remove this
http://postimg.org/image/y2pkrn31l/
here is the Full rom, SystemUI.apk with other files
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/xciwaety7...g3Q-YlEqa?dl=0
I tried to mess with SystemUI.apk (no luck).
I tried to mess with Setting storage>settings.db>secure "through SQL editor" (no luck).
I really like this looking stock rom, except this ongoing panel with roaming.....
any ideas how to remove the roaming warning panel? or if i can remove the whole ongoing panel too!!!
I will pay $100 for it
Thanks
How about using Xposed and NotifyClean to remove whatever you want from the notification drawer? You can also revert things easily this way...

the problem is, the roaming alert is ongoing panel not on notification drawer
I used it to remove the Wifi notification that's on my VZW phone, and IIRC that was in the "ongoing" panel as well... I disabled ALL System notifications (which show up there) but you can choose just the one notification if you wish.

So, you got it removed... where's my bounty?
I expect if you remove notifyclean it will return... I'm not sure. I just leave it all there, as they don't take much space nor do they affect the phone battery life etc, so I never bothered to remove Xposed/NotifyClean. You can try and see what happens - easy enough to re-install it. For that matter, you can simply freeze it with TiBu and reboot, and see what happens... that way you can restore easily?

LOL, no worries your bounty still here. But the NotifyClean is just a temporary solution, I'm looking for something permanent so I can added to the Rom when I cook it.
Some guys told me it's somewhere in systemUI.apk layout xml files, but I'm not expert with xml files.
So if you help me with that, your $100 is coming to you today
I don't see why you can't cook the rom to include Xposed and NotifyClean...
Bottom line, I apologize if this is being brutally honest, but you're changing the rules of what you requested... that's not quite fair. You requested a way to remove this item, and I provided a solution that works. Frankly it was easy enough that the bounty really isn't a big deal to me. And while I might be able to find out how to do this in your new-specified way, I'm not sure I want to waste my time, given that you're changing rules. I don't have faith that your bounty is real.

Smart Call Integration

I have a buddy who bought his S8+ in Singapore and his come integrated with a Samsungs Smart Caller Feature.
Based on quick research it seems it is Hiya app integrated in the Dialer. Phones that ha e this feature havd a tab on the Dialer called "Places".
My phone lacks this feature and had no option to turn it on.
Anyone else have any experience with this and maybe found a way to enable this?
To the senior members and developers:
Anyways to add this via an apk or will I have to flash a new ROM? I do not want to lose my Samsung Pay.
I have added Hiya and it works but the lack of integration really irritates me.

In my case i have also no 3rd tab in my dailer
but Hiya works fine.!
I also know that Hiya must support your
country data base etc , to work.
I don't have extra, Hiya app installed as
3rd party app.
See screenshots.
Ahh so I guess the places tab isn't part of it.
I installed Hiya from the Galaxy app store.
It works and there is a database within my country.
I am unsure why it isn't activated on my phone.
All that aside the main point is how can I activate it on my device. There must be a Stock ROM with Hiya Integration that will also keep Samsung pay alive.

if you look at one of my screenshot above
Screenshot is on Phone tab, /3 dot menu,
then you get above settings...
Halfway down ... Caller ID and spam protection?
If not it seems like your.... Rom /carrier
(might) have blocked it, for some reason?
I'm on Verizon, and they sell a caller-id app for a monthly fee, so I don't even need to check to see if the free, built-in Samsung feature has been disabled.
I live in the US and imported a S8+ 955FD, and I have the places tab:

yes ,i agree you do not have relevant option .!!
Only reason i can deduct from that ,is maybe one of these reasons .... ...??
Hiya ,does not officially support your country database ,
which you claim Hiya does ?
I would check with Hiya website /email them ?
Maybe ask them why ?
If you got a carrier branded Rom ,then your carrier choose not to included it in their branded supported Rom .
I would then query them ,why services is not available or included in Rom
If you choose this option ,
make sure you query someone (in carrier service that should know reason )
and not some ignorant person ,just guessing why not .!
Remember /bear in mind,
that flashing another Rom, does not always guarantee , to fix issue . !!!
Good luck
I used this to turn the feature on, but the caller id feature doesn't work. https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-s7-edge/help/built-caller-id-hidden-t3357996

I've got a TMO S8+ and hadn't enabled it yet. Looks like it has to be set up and may be carrier specific.
Oh and Funk, you should try Arepa Mia, my fiancee and I go there all the time. It's amazing.
I'm bumping this to know if anyone found a way to activate this "Places" tab for phones where it didn't come activated by default please ?
smart call integration
I have a question about smart call integration.
Not sure how to activate this but I can tell you for sure it is blocked by the carrier for conflict of interests. Since they do have a paid service for this. This feature has been available since Marshmallow. It started back when I had my s6.

Places activation seems to be determined by CSC (similar to Samsung Pay) . I imported a 955FD and it didn't come with Places activated because it was running the TPA CSC firmware. After I odin flashed a XSA CSC firmware, Places shows up and functions (but everything is in meters).

This tread doesn't seem to be active much, but I am planning to flash my phone to T-Mobile and wanted to ask T-Mobile USA users if they have "Identify Spam Numbers" or similar option. This option should be in phone app, then ..., then settings and there should be a toggle for it.
I remember the AT&T version having it. But I switched to the Exynos version so now I'm missing that feature.
