[Q] For the US T-Mobile One S, Has Anyone Figured Out How to Disable T-Mobile Name ID - HTC One S

I'm unrooted and I don't plan to root. The ability to disable system apps has really been great, but this one won't let me disable it. The disable box is inactive in the apps section. Recently, after a call I've been getting popups that my trial has ended and do I want to purchase. This is very annoying. I know someone was able to disable it by disabling literally every app until he got to it, but I'd like to know if there is one specific app/system part that needs to be disabled first, making Name ID disable-able. Someone must've figured it out...

Just call t-Mobile and kindly ask them to take you out of the list for notifications.

There was an option for me to not use it when it popped up, if I remember right.

It's a feature they add to your plan. it starts as a free trial. I don't know when they start charging for it. I called in and had it removed

I looked over the app. You have to specifically accept the charges by hitting "Confirm."

Did doing that remove the app from your device? Or allow you to disable it at least?

ive come across this also.. there is no way to Disable it in the system apps..
it does ask you after the like one week trial if you want to add it but still takes up space in the app drawer.. id like to find a way to remove it if possible too without root.. but if it would only be able to be removed with root then ill have to break down and do it..

how to hide application in android uninstall list?

Hi to all,XDA developers !
i'm curious to make app that will not be seen by user in his/her mobile.. that would start on Boot. and will not be visible in android uninstall list as well !!
need help of you guys...
Regards,
Piyush
If you install it in /system/app/
it shouldn't be visible in 3rd party uninstallers.
If you use Settings->Applications->Manage it's still visible.
how to hide it in "If you use Settings->Applications->Manage " ?
any trick ?
Are you trying to write some kind of malware?

Not that intention ! want to us it for 1app.
This seems pretty shady. I don't see why you would need to hide the application from the user's Application List.
...and you want it to run on boot? Hmm...
malware .. spyware .. **** lol ..
nope... ne idea ?
i got solution.....
How did you manage it?
I have an App which I'm wanting to do the same with (LocatorPro - to find phone if stolen)

Regardless of what you intended on producing...I don't understand why NOBODY has actually given you a proper answer.
I think you asked a critically smart question...as I am a new member...I joined this forum ONLY because I was looking for the answer to this question.
I am not a developer (even though I would love to learn)... but I need to know how to discreetly add apps.
The Story:
I have installed a spy app on another phone of mine. (SmsBox)
I need to hide that software completley from the list of apps AND from the "Manage Applications" list in the settings.
I want it to run in the background constantly and do what it already does.
IF someone has a solution for me...(or gets an idea on producing a new app with this feature)...please let me know.
(Since I don't know how often I will be visiting this site...Please email me at : [email protected]
Thanks!
I found this thread also looking for some way to hide (maybe disguise and lock) locator apps.
I think it would be really useful to hide anti thieves apps. They're almost useless if anybody can just take a look at the apps list and throw em away.
I've been looking for an app with that feature (among others) with no luck (Watchdroid the closest, but can be removed along its disguise and password protection).
So... any advice?
Thanks
You could write a text-mode application and just compile as a bare executable (not an apk). Just add that to your startup script (does android use init.d?), and it will be invisible to most people. You'll need root, most likely. (might be able to push over adb, then run via shell. Not sure what the permissions are on some things).

[Q] Is there any way to remove deleted paid apps from the market download list?

Hello,
I recently did some house (phone) cleaning and dumped a few no longer used apps I had purchased form the market.
I see that while they are no longer installed on the phone, they continue to stay listed in the market download section listed as purchased. Is this normal or is something wrong with the way my phone is working?
If this is normal, is there any way to remove them or at least shift them all to the bottom of the list?
Thanks,
Scott
Using a rooted Droid2 deodexed running the latest 2.3.2
BTW - I've checked the other threads I found on this but never saw a clear answer. Besides, they were old (2009) unless I missed a more resent one.
bump bump bump
I believe its not possible.
this is perfectly normal and actually allows you to reinstall them at any time since well, you paid for them.
There is no way to remove them also from that list, you could ask google support about this they'll be your best bet.
I don't really see a use for this however, if you don't want them installed, then don't.
I am pretty sure I have seen such option in some tool. Unfortunately cannot remember. I will post of I find it

ehh some apps you may not want others to know you have...
when they show up in paid apps it kind of defeats the purpose because they show up there...
You can ask the developer to refund your purchase...

HTC_security_log_provider manual update from verizon

Verizon pushed an update to fix a problem I was having with a false security alert indicating I had a virus or malware. This process HTC_security_log_provider has helped me greatly. The HTC rep mentioned they will probably be including this in new builds so that they are able to get access to resolve issues like I was having quickly without manual update every affected user . Apparently it is a huge problem but mine is working now thanks to HTC_SECURITY_LOG_PROVIDER!
sounds like htc wanting more access to our phones. Security log? I haven't had any "security" alerts (false or otherwise) and have not read about any either.
Interesting 1st post.
The OP wouldn't have a problem if they weren't downloading things they shouldn't. Just saying that 99.9% of the chances you actually had something on your phone, it did not come from a credible source (like the market). I'd rather htc and verizon be fiddling directly with my phone.
It wasnt an actual virus or malware. I was getting an alert and this is the solution they used to stop the nag message. I have not downloaded anything unless from the market. Obviously I know there could be issues with non market downloads. I also am glad that HTC/verizon is messing with it instead of me having a headache of a nag message all the time.
THanks for comments guys

Nag message like something in your status bar? Google recently added the ability to do that in the sdk for apps.
It was almost like a FC that they said was due to something with how the kernel security log communicates with the UI. IM not an expert and it may have something to do with the new SDK your mentioning. IM not sure. I was just trying to let you guys know about the update.
I wouldn't believe Verizon for a second. Heck, they can't even figure out at tech support why their IVR says you can reactivate a 4G SIM within 90 days...

Just because it is from market does not make it safe Verizon has told me unless it is under Verizon apps they are considered 3rd party apps that anyone can upload so be very careful what you download from market.

That is true that Market apps can cause issues like viruses and all but it seems pretty obvious when an app has the ability to infect a phone. If you see an app that is normally paid and this version is free and in chinese then it's probably no good lol.

Be aware 'Scam' App : U need 2 read this ! It may cost u money if u don't!!!!

Hiya,
I'm bagofbits and new to these forum's and was not sure how to contact anyone at XDA so after some after advice from LUFC (forum moderator) here is my situation.
I have a wildfire s and been viewing those forums, during the last couple of days since the change over from android market to google playground or whatever it's called these days, I've been getting a popup app in my status bar saying please download 'battery supercharger' . I've been just clearing my status bar but it just kept coming back.
Today by mistake i downloaded it and got loads of texts within minutes and ended up with a charge of £4.99, I text 'STOP' to the number given. My network provider(3) can't help and I've mailed google help about it and they have logged it and are getting back to me.
Also a number of post's on the web about it...
Anyway enough rambling, I've searched the wildfire s forum and can't see any mention of it, just thought that it would be useful to post something about it so nobody else falls victim to this.
Give me a thanks if u could please.
Cheers
Oh might be an idea to check recent downloads you have made that contain ad's that may harbor this scam.

The ad you saw in your status bar used ad over the air function.
There are some apps which will detect apps using the add. Method. And will give you the ability to uninstall it.

Unfortunately this is true, you have not stopped the messages - just confirmed to the spammers that the number is live and real. 3 may be able to help you by blacklisting the numbers you are getting messages from - also have a look here if the messages persist.
This is a problem that is by no means limited to the Wildfire S - recently I recognised an app on my friend's Samsung Galaxy Ace as being malware - it was also generating notifications about some kind of battery optimizer. I managed to remove it before she accidentally signed up to anything.
Regarding the app, try some apps like Lookout Mobile Security and BitDefender . If you run a scan with these, they may find the offending app and help you to remove it. Good luck!
solution to battery supercharger text costs
saw the two text messages yesterday, spoke to Vodafone told them to block any charges today, up to which time charges hadn't gone through. So hopefully this will cost me nothing.
even if they had placed the charge, I would have asked Vodafone not to pay it, and kicked up a fuss until the agreed not to do so, or carry the cost themselves. Anybody with a mobile phone contract is in a very strong position at the moment I have noticed, getting lots of freebies off them.
thanx for ur advice
but i think it is not harmful

[APP][2.2+] Where R U? - Location via SMS

Hi guys,
So I decided to create an app based on a simple idea my fiance gave me, and thought I'd come to you guys for some feedback.
In a nutshell, it's an app that will respond to an SMS trigger with the users current location.
1. Someone SMSs you "Where R U?"
2. Your phone works out its location to the closest 100m (if possible)
3. The app generates a google maps link
4. The app SMSs it back
That's the core of the app, but I've also created a "premium" version that has some other features such as a customisable sms trigger, geotagging, blacklist/whitelist options among others
What I'm hoping to get is a bit of feedback on my app and perhaps the way I'm going about a paid version of it. I'm very open to suggestions and I'm happy to provide the apk to the full version for those who want to try it.
Here's the link
Cheers!

Hi, I was wondering if you can please provide information about how to use the black list/white list thing in free version, because I only want to send replies only one person so if I enable white list and add that specific contact to the back list /whitelist list, then will it work or not. I need an answer for this from you and asked from you to add details about this list configuration information on the Google play

Hi chorauoc,
Simply set the blacklist type to "whitelist", then add the contact you want to the list. The app will then ignore requests from anyone else Sorry for the ambiguous use of "blacklist", but I didn't really know what else to call it I'll update the app description to make it a little easier to understand.
Thanks for the feedback!

I love this! Its a simple way for me to know where my 8 year old daughter is and make sure she is where she should be if out at a friends playing! I can see this app will become invaluae to me as my daughter gets older and more adventurous in life. Thanks for this.
One suggestion for paid version feature is hide app draw icon if at all possible? As this would stop it being messed with by said daughter who by the way knows I keep tabs on her but accepts and understands why I do so, as my mother used to say 'Only privacy any child should have is in the bathroom!' But just because she knows does not mean she won't mess

Hi there,
I'd be pretty keen to send you a bit of a debug version of the app to get some more info on why this is happening. I'm sure there are hundreds of possible combinations of settings and the like I missed while testing Would you be happy to install and test an apk if I sent it to you??
Can you make an improvement
Hi,
I really like this app and i would like to make a suggestion and i will be really happy if you can implement it on your app,
Ie
Can you implement an emergencies response to send the contact in the white-list, means if you could be able to identify the emergencies like not answering , sim change, not switch on for long time, etc.
If i further explain this,
Suppose I am not answering phone calls for log time period or my phone is suddenly switch off and not switch on for longer time (may be day or 3 days) , then we can assume that i may in a trouble so i would be happy to send my location via sms to my white-list contact, but at that time i may not be able to do it manually so if you can implement a way to auto response to contact that would be really nice. Also let say someone stolen my phone and tried to replace the sim card of it, so at that time you can implement a auto response massage by saying your current location as well as the new sim number (In order to do this you may have to record current sim details in a database and check periodically when a new sim change occurs ).Also if you can add a method to add pre-define locations, means if i or my contact went to home then i might be able to save my current location as home or if i or my other contact went to someplace (let say office) that we commonly goes we should be able to add it into a list, so when in the next time when my contact or i went to that places we should received sms by saying that we are in that place now (Simply means by doing this we can be sure that the person i was wondering to locate arrives safely home or any other pre-define places even i forget to send location massage via sms).
So if you can implement such a auto response method then this app will be a great one. Hope you will do this
I wil add ideas for make this app better in future :fingers-crossed:

I really like your idea with the emergency contacts, but I think it's a little out of scope for this app. Could be a good idea for my next app though
I like your 2nd idea too, but that would require constant location monitoring which can be very taxing on the phones battery. I like the idea of being able to save locations though, so the app could respond "I am currently at home" or some such You have plenty of good ideas!!
found small bug
Hi,
First of all thank you for your attention of my comments, anyway I found a small bug in this app, that is if we close this app using a task killer or clean master apps or anything have the capability of stop the service then this app not restart properly and we have to manually start the app again to get work, so can you fixed this bug, because as far as I believe the app should be in active status of anytime, hope you will consider about it, finally are you going to implement the location savings things in your app
