(UPDATED) CF Autoroot on Stock OI6 & OK3 - System-less Root - TESTED AND WORKS - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note5

@Chainfire's autoroot for the Galaxy Note5 for Sprint (SM-N920P), which can be found here: https://download.chainfire.eu/844/C...Auto-Root-nobleltespr-nobleltespr-smn920p.zip, I have only discovered while rooting my dad's Galaxy S6 (and the cf-autoroot method in the Sprint Galaxy S6 threads)... but the Note5 thread still uses the custom kernel method. Has anyone tried the autoroot method? How well did it work? Any problems? Did it work?
UPDATE:
I tried it and it worked like a charm ^.^ I was able to install XPosed and remove bloatware with no issues.
-Private Mode works - UNTIL YOU FLASH XPOSED. SEE WORK AROUND HERE: http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-note5/general/tutorial-how-to-fix-broken-private-mode-t3311610/
-S Health Works
-Samsung Pay DOES NOT WORK of course as flashing this WILL trip KNOX
-No Performance Issues since using stock kernel.

My one and only Windows PC just died and I'm in the middle of fixing it. The rest all use Linux. Otherwise I so would lol. I shall try it hopefully this week if not next.
If someone beats me to it, do post your results

It is a successful root, however I am noticing that my phone is now running pretty slow. But that might be due to the fact I just reset it to out of box default and it's just now loading stuff.
It is a systemless root however. I am certainly not a dev, and do mods simply for fun / to make my devices work the way i want them to... so can someone maybe elaborate on whether or not i should find a way to make the su binary exist under /system or if i should leave it be?
currently, busy box installed just fine. Will be trying xPosed next. But so far it seems to function and no glitches.

Xposed flashed just fine, did not cause any issues (so far) with private mode or S health. All works very well ^.^
EDIT: Flashing Xposed broke private mode. See fix here:

Cf auto root is the best method in my opinion. It is quick, efficient and works. Afterwards, flash/reflash custom recovery like TWRP if applicable

I rooted my Note 3 on KitKat without tripping Knox, also got voice recording working

I just wanted to share that I was able to do it, and without tripping knox.
It was either a miracle, I have a special phone, I have no idea.
What I did:
- Entered ODIN mode
- Flashed CWM recovery for Note 3 (for my exact phone model, Samsung N900W8, it's a Canadian One) -- GENUINELY thought I'd trip Knox, but CF auto root was not working, so this was my option.
This somehow did not trip Knox at all, then all I had to troubleshoot a bit. I tried a few older versions of the SuperSU for CWM package, none of them worked... then finally I found out that these were old versions, I downloaded the 1.89 superSU package for CWM/TWRP, and now I am officially rooted.
Once I booted in, I had to load SuperSu which then said "Do you want to disable KNOX to get root working?" or something to that extent.. At my own risk I did that, still didn't trip the KNOX counter.
Booted up, works, able to use root on a lot of different apps.
I have no idea if it's a miracle it did not trip Knox, if I have a magic phone, etc.. but I thought I'd share.
This is root, not a custom kernel or anything.
Second bit: I was able to get call recording with Call Recorder working as long as I used to CAF (root required) option. No other option worked, not kernel, not with installed Alsa, etc..
If anyone wants any more specific information about my phone, I will gladly share. All I know is knox 0x0 with root is pretty sweet.
Was this the first time you rooted your N3? or did it have root on a lower android version?

SM-P905 new update

Did anyone take the September-october update?
(Italy / Nordic countries /switzerland/ slovakia/ poland/ portugal)
Pda- P905XXUANH3
I'm trying to understand if it messes up the towelroot or not.
Thanks.
I took the plunge, but Towelroot refused to work on the new rom. Apart from that the tablet started rebooting spontaneously every 15 mins or so after I installed the update.
Def NOT recommended to install it.
I had to downgrade to the previous rom using Odin and now I'm back to normal.
Hope that helps.

Another possibility could be to install H3, then flash xxuanc3 firmware, towelroot it without tripping knox and then reflash h3 firmware. A similar procedure works on s4, but unfortunately I'm not enough expert on firmware and odin stuffs, so I am not sure if there are possibilities to brick the device and how to prepare the extracted firmwares for odin flashing. I found some procedures that should work for doing that but nothing about a way to check in advance if such procedures are sure.
A developer should be able to do this, but, in wich part of the forum this can be asked?
.?

My device is rooted and I installed new update (KOT49H.P905XXUANH3) by flashing full ROM by odin, without wiping.
Now I'm experiencing random reboots (pretty often). The question is - is it because it was dirty-flesh or just new updated rom is not working properly?
Are you also experiencing such problems?

rooted NH3 with towelroot
Ok,
I successfully rooted NH3 with towelroot, acting as pointed out in my first post. The only problem I had is that once you load the XXUANC3 firmware you loose the wifi connectivity, obliging to rely on your provider's internet connectivity to complete the rooting proicess.
To remove the knox and update stuff I used a debloating script that in another thread for the sm-p905, but no other stuff, as this script was written for the previus version of the firmware.
No knox trip nor reboots, so far.

- Check that developer mode is enabled
- Download and install Towelroot and supersu
- Shut down the tablet
- Reboot (Home Key + Volume Down + Poweron, then volume UP) in download mode and flash with Odin 3.07 or 3.09 the latest firmware (XXUANH3).
- Shut Down the tablet
- Reboot the tablet and flash only the Kernel of the previous firmware (XXUANC3)
- You loose the WIFI connectivity, so connect to the internet through your phone provider internet connection, then - Launch Towelroot and root your tablet, Then launch Supersu and disable Knox. The tablet may freeze at this point (didn't happen to me), but in any case you have to shut down.
- Reboot in download mode and flash the latest firmware (XXUANC3).
- At this point you're done, but, to avoid random reboots you have to completely remove Knox, something that you can do with several tools. I used a debloating tool for SM-P905 that I found in this forum.
About the Kernel files needed for this procedure, I tried to attach them to my posts, but it looks like I'm not yet enabled to do that (too few posts, may be).
To prepare them from the original firmware files I used a Windows script called TAR_MD5_PAKAGER, that you can find searching in this forum.
Hope that the above results clearer than my previous posts

Yeah, I actually risked it and ended up rooting using the most up to date version of pingpong (beta6) myself yesterday and private mode is working just fine for me as well.
Private mode fails to load
I have a sprint s6 edge rooted with unikernel, the only issue i have is that the private mode gives me an error "failure to load private modr. Try again."
Any ideas how to fix?? I try loading the privatemode.apk file but it didnt fix my issue
Thanks

[Q] Is it worth rooting 907A AT&T version?

So I just got the Note Pro like a week or two ago, I generally always root my devices, but I've seen lots of reports of random reboots. Does removing all of the Knox apps fix that?
So, do you guys think it's worth rooting? I've never had a Samsung device, so I know I'm going to have to read up on Odin and Kies a bit, but are there any easy step-by-step tutorials posted around anywhere?

It was definitely worth it for me just to have X posed installed and be able to use the GravityBox module along with some Note specific mods. Especially useful is the mod to allow any apps to be multi-window pop up apps.
l had to downgrade to an earlier build because Samsung patched the Towelroot exploit earlier this year. That required using Odin which isn't difficult at all to use. Once I downgraded the Towel root app worked perfectly and I was able to install Supersd from Chainfire. There is a debloat script you can run in Terminal Emulator and it will disable all the Knox stuff but also gives you individual options to de bloat other apps in the stock AT&T TW Rom. I've been running for a couple of weeks with no problems whatsoever.

Thanks for the info and links... I may break down and just do it, although I've been debating waiting for the Lollipop update.
I can always flash back to stock later, right?
The links he posted are stock, just an earlier build that towelroot works with. You should be able to go into settings and run "check for updates" when lollipop is released from AT&T.
You guys are awesome, thanks for the info. Just rooted, debloating now. Any suggestions on the best Xposed modules to use? Anything else I should install?
Awesome! I'll be giving this a go once I get home. I just picked up my note pro last weekend. Only complaint is not being able to multiwindow every app so this is perfect!

GravityBox gives you the most customization options. You can get Multi Window Manager from the Play store and it works with Xposed to give you multi window for any app. Those are the two I'm using so far bit have had mine for only a few weeks.
The end of the first post has a few good xposed modules to try, http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...t/rom-original-stock-debloated-stock-t2860069 And I've attached an image of the ones I like.
Hangouts?

Hello, my first time posting of the forums.. I followed all these steps except the last step before I found this thread, and allowed the forced Ota update to screw up my root... now I can't access custom recovery mode to reinstall the old firmware. Tablet works fine, but no root and no chromecast... Not sure if you can use odin in stock recovery mode.. Is there a way to install firmware you gave the link by SD card so I can reroot? No Odin is the only way. You can access recovery by turning the tablet on while holding down vol down and the home button.

Quick question about this procedure: if I use oden to downgrade my tablet from NK2 to ND7, will my device status change from original to custom?
The purpose for this is to network unlock my tablet. I sent in my tablet for warranty repair due to the blue screen of death. They replaced the main board and reflashed the os with NK2. I've had my tablet back for 2 weeks but it came back network locked. It had been previously unlocked by a seller prior to purchase/arrival in January. I was using my T-Mobile tablet sim with the tablet which worked great.
I've tried sim network unlock codes from various sources, the code is always the same regardless of the source, with no success. I'm working with 2 theories as to what occurred at the repair center: they didn't reinstall the LTE modem properly or the flash messed up ability to successfully network unlock. If I can get the tablet to network unlock then I'll continue with the root because having the capability to use multiwindow for all apps with xposed is great.

Android Pay, Systemless Root

Late last year, with my HTC M8, I remember there was a systemless root SuperSU version that allowed me to have a stock rooted ROM and still use Android Pay. I read yesterday there is an experimental version of Xposed that is systemless and lets you use Android Pay with one reboot to turn Xposed off and no need to rebuild the app cache when turning it back on. Doubt there is a Samsung version of that yet but may come eventually. My question is if anyone has tried a stock ROM (or ordin to stock), systemless root, and been able to use Android Pay?
Yes. I am using stock LP with systemless root and Android Pay working perfectly.

I went ahead an odin'd back to stock MM and then took the OTA update to latest. Then used odin to flash TWRP, twrp-3.0.2-0-M-nobleltespr.tar. Booted in recovery and flashed SuperSU, BETA-SuperSU-v2.74-2-20160519174328. Once that all was done I checked if my phone would still pass the SafetyNet check that Android Pay uses and it passed! So systemless root and stock android MM. Then I went ahead and tried the new systemless version of Xposed. http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/unofficial-systemless-xposed-t3388268 It flashed and works fine. I can disable xposed, reboot, and then I still pass the SafetyNet check (so pay should work but haven't tried yet). Enabling Xposed and rebooting is super quick and doesn't require a rebuild of the apps like it used to. I'm not sure what type of system modifications may cause the SafetyNet app to fail so all I've done so far is remove Voicemail (I use Google Voice) and have AdAway installed to block ads. I have the xTouchWiz, CrappaLinks, YouTube Ad Away, and Amplify Xposed modules installed and working.

Definitely not! I haven't heard of a single person being able to root and not trip knox. I'm talking about Android Pay which doesn't care about Knox. Samsung Pay will not work.
I did make a purchase the other day with Android Pay too. Just needed to disable systemless xposed in the app, reboot, and then pay worked fine
Nice...Cool. is there a write-up anywhere on how you guys did this?
As for Samsung pay, I use Capital One and USAA. Neither of these guys participate...so I'm SOL and considering tripping knox. I can't use either of the secure payment methods.

I pretty much described how I did it above. Just used odin to put the stock .tar on, then took OTA updates, then installed TWRP via ODIN, then SuperSU, and eventually systemless Xposed. All the info is around the sprint forum for more details on each step. Since you're already stock you can probably just skip right to TWRP. That step will trip knox!
For whatever it's worth, I found that I had to delete /su/xbin_bind before Android Pay would work. Here are the steps that worked for me:
celsian said:
For those who are confused, here are my steps for using Android Pay while rooted.
1. I reset my phone to factory defaults by installing all original software.
2. Unlocked the boot loader.
3. Installed TWRP, but kept it read only.
4. Installed Beta Super User 2.67
5. Through Android terminal after entering su and allowing terminal emulator root access:
6. rm -r /su/xbin_bind
7. chmod 751 /su/bin
Android Pay works, root is still active. Thanks all.

Doing it this way, Android Pay "just works" with root, no need to "unroot" or reboot or anything. Note, however, that I do not have Xposed installed, and henderjr is right that Android Pay will quit working with normal Xposed, and if you use systemless Xposed, you have to disable it before Android Pay will work.

I'd think the worst case scenario is you need to Odin back to stock. Not an expert though so that be on you if it bricked. For sure I'd get a stock tar available before you try.

yea im pretty sure us cellular note 5 users can use twrp that is sprints.
i did find a twrp us cellular recovery for PD6 (im on PE1 now) i might download PD6 stock firmware then flash that us cellular twrp recovery but worried about what kind of root to do
i dont think i want to perm disable samsung pay and i think if i use SuperSU (systemless root) that i might be able to save it.
can anyone confirm this?
to my understanding systemless root means i dont need to flash a custom kernel?
If you flash twrp samsung pay will never work again for you
