Have this terrible battery drain and i have narrowed it down to this here is screenshot note 5 for sprint is unlocked and used in EU root moar rom running
If you don't have cell service or signal wherever you are you need to turn on airplane mode so the radio stops constantly looking for a signal. If the problem continues on airplane mode then you need to follow the instructions and update through odin to the latest stock sprint ROM. Run it for a day without installing any of your apps from the play store(OR ANYWHERE ELSE EITHER). If everything looks normal then go ahead and flash twrp in odin and then flash MOAR without installing any of your personal apps for a day. If everything is normal again i think you had some apps draining your battery. My bet is its not the kernel or the rom, it's your signal issue and some user apps draining the battery.

So, everything works great, except when I activate airplane mode via settings or notification menu, a problem occurs AFTER airplane mode is de-activated. Only the cell network is active, neither edge nor 4g connection is available UNTIL after a reboot. WiFi CAN activate but no cell network DATA available.
I attempted to:
1. search forums and google (similar issues noticed, no solution available)
2. flash stock Rogers radio then re flash CM7, didn't solve
3. Redo APN seetings with different inputs, didn't solve
4. shutdown remove sim, startup no sim, shutdown reinsert sim, startup, didn't solve
5. now on stable (seemingly faster) UCLA3 modem didn't solve
wipe emmc etc., flash SkyIceCream ROM, and then the problem solved!, wipe to factory and wipe cache, flash back to CM7, and the problem returns!
So I'm thinking it's the kernel and/or ROM. My device doesn't FC or SOD atm it seems very stable.
I use airplane mode a lot since I do travel on airplanes quite a bit. I can reboot after airplane mode every time but it's a pain plus sometimes I don't have the time to wait for a reboot literally. Please help, I love the ROM.
Hey brotha - I had a similar problem with mine. When we went on a trip to Phoenix, it took a good 10 minutes or so for the bloody network to come up. I had a bunch of data charges too when it did finally come up... but no description except medianet data charges (sent data not received). My wife's iphone also had some large charged data for sent. I don't know what it was, but the Phoenix market has LTE (obviously nothing to do with the iPhone) - but I figured that because our home network was not the same (4g here) that was a lot of ATT internal configuration fighting going on and it took a while for their systems to parse it out. All speculation and what not, but reboots on my phone wouldn't help until if finally popped open, but I'm betting it's not a device problem, it was a network issue (based on the 60ish meg upload charges we both had our our different phones... and no, we weren't posting airplane bathroom porn to youtube...
I couldn't take it anymore so i flashed nexusmod4 and now i don't have airplane mode problems anymore. So for anyone having this problem on CM7 don't worry you can fix it by flashing another ROM.
I've flashed different radios and the oxygen firmware, still my signal fluctuates all without me moving the phone on my desk. Ideas?
Signal also drops out for no reason.
I'm having the same issue with mine as well, bumping your thread to get it noticed. I haven't flashed a different radio, but I'm running the stock COS12.1 ROM, never rooted, and always updated via OTA updates. I think this occured with COS12 as well, but I'm noticing it more with 12.1. I've also noticed that it takes the phone quite a while to switch over from WiFI to LTE when I leave the house...not sure if it's related.
I'm looking to avoid doing any modding to my phone at the moment because I really need to have it active at all times to receive calls, but the fact that it randomly loses signal is frustrating.
I logged the network activity last night over the course of several hours at 10 second intervals. [Edit: Phone was stationary on my nightstand the whole time with the occasional picking it up to look at the time.] There are quite a few points where signal is lost. Usually it's only for a few seconds, but it seems like it's enough to miss calls (what prompted me to log the signal is when I received a voicemail but did not have any missed calls).
Does anyone know if there's a fix for this? The app I used for logging is "Network Monitor" from the Play Store.
Still not convinced after flashing 44s didn't help then flashing the updated Oxygen firmware still nothing. My signal will go from to bars to emergency calls only. Deleted all the Unneeded apns.
Rom: Resurrection Remix.
Service Provider: Net10 using AT&T towers.
When did this start happening: As soon as I updated my firmware to the latest Cm 12.1 per RR thread.
I've tried everything i can think of, even using the hidden phone menu to select LTE/GSM. Still no luck. Every once in a while when i am at a place where i get good signal this isn't an issue. Seems to happen when i get 3 bars or less.

Just confirming this as an issue on Ting, I was on the 12.1 Nightly's, I also tried Exodus. I can be at close to full service and for some reason signal will drop out constantly, yesterday I had a 22% time without signal according to battery stats.
Clicking on network operators and selecting the correct one only temperately fixes the problem.
Solved the same exact issue on my phone
Had the same issue on mine after updating to 12.1 OTA. Selecting my APN didn't work, my connection kept going in and out to my carrier. It was as though the radio would shut off and then turn back on every 15 seconds or so. I reset default APN's, and all is back to normal T-Mobile, for what it's worth.

I've tried that no luck.
I fixed this on my phone, I reset to default apns, selected the correct one and then deleted all APNs that weren't mine. According to GSam i'm at 57% in 15h 34m
No luck, tried that.
Should I try to fastboot flash the 44s modem?
I've been using Phil's cwm and I don't think it's flashing right. Because I went back to a May 2015 nightly of cm 12.1 then flashed 44s and nuclearslim 1.3 ,bam everything works perfectly.

You can't use a KitKat modem with a Lollipop ROM or you'll have prox sensor issues.
I have the proximity fix file, should I fastboot flash though.
I think Ill just fastboot flash the 44s, and why isn't Phil's saving my backups. It wiped them when I wiped the user info. Left my other files.

Not sure, I never had that issue. switched to the
XNPH05Q modem after my phone for what ever reason was stuck in a bootloop. I had this problem solved before it bootlooped. Here I am back with the same problem, I even followed the steps that i used to fix it last time. Nope not working this time, Some how Using XenonHd, my signal stength is all over whille sitting in the same place. Starting to think that my sim card may be going downhill. Any ideas?
Randomly my D850 stopped being able to turn on Wifi or Bluetooth. They icons would cycle and the battery would drain very quickly. Neither AT&T nor LG were much help since I am out of warranty. I rooted the device and tries re-installing the stock ROM and several other ROMs only to solve the Wifi issue and have a new issue with the phone shutting down every few minutes.
Now I'm back on the stock ROM. Sometimes the phone will be able to turn on Wifi and will connect to by Wifi. Then, after a short while, it will shut down and will not restart until the batter is pulled. When it does restart the Wifi will cycle to turn on again. Also, when the Wifi will not connect there is no available MAC address.
Any help would be appreciated.

I hv the same problem with my Lg g3 D855. Sometimes when i restart my phone, the wifi is working.. but the phone will shut down itself suddenly..... guys please help
Also I have tried to root and it didnt work, I dun want to factory reset my phoneeee>>>>>>
Same has been happening to me, at first I had a bad battery so I thought that had something to do with it, but now that it has been replaced, it still keeps happening. I was going to take my phone apart, but I see others are having this so it's a software issue? Factory reset didn't work
Most of the time it is the battery somtime a restore tot method fizes it old files build up change kernals and keep same app in my case like triskster when u change kernals these implement the same settings u had on old kern which may not be compatible but sometime a good fresh tot restore helps a lot and give that new phone smell. You can try booting to safe mode to see if its rouge apps or setups but u have to run ssafe mode for a couple hours not just 2 min and say it didnt work. A lot of people do. Now in ure cases it wouldnt take long but in battery drain cases needs to be run for a while

As for first case if ure still not rooted software can still break even on stock unrooted.
Had the same issue. I flashed a ROM out of desperation and it's been fine ever since

Hi,
my phone lately shows an high battery drain, random reboots and signal losses.
Aside from supersu and adaway everything is stock. last-kmsg shows "modem_err"
A few days ago I updated my phone from MMB29V to MOB30H, right after this I went on holiday. (left country)
While being there everything worked fine.
But right after I comeback home the phone started to act strange (see title).
Anyone an idea what could cause the behaviour?
Maybe the update? And I didn't noticed it in holiday because of my disabled data connection?
I tried:
a full wipe, reflash of stock image
flash of old radio
looked out for wake locks (there are non)
using phone without apps (only stock)
Might flashing old bootloader/kernel help?
Maybe interesting:
My provider (Klarmobil (T-Mobile DE third-party)) tends to switch my network mode between 3G and HSPA,
from what I heard and see this depends on my data usage. (HSPA while surfing, 3G while idling). I have the "feeling"
it disconnects when it tries to switch.
Thanks for your help!
Edit:
Added another set of logfiles, showing a "signal-loss", it got so far to ask for my pin again.
Sadly errors still keep happening. I tried the march build and also a custom kernel, no change :crying:
I have no idea, what is happening with my sons phone, maybe anyone has an idea:
My son changed his pin and forgot it, so after numerous tries, we had to reset the whole phone. I never update the firmware, so the firmware version was MIUI 10.3.5.0 from Summer 2019, when we bought the phone. After resetting, I decided to update the phones firmware to the current MIUI 12. No problems so far, but in the next morning, we saw the battery drained over night 40% with no interesting apps in the battery drainage overview.
First step: I reset the phone again and just made the initial Configuration (Wlan Key, Google Account). The drainage was again 40% over night with no additional apps installed.
I decided to Install non Xiaomi Firmware, so I unlocked the phone, Installed Orangefox as Recovery and then tried the following firmwares:
- Lineage 17.1
- PixelExpierience 11
- MIUI 10.3.5.0 (the "original" firmware, we were happy with for two years)
All firmwares showed the same drainage with about 5%/hour (Of cause always deleted all caches).
Then I thought, maybe the Battery had already some problems, and we just saw them now, but that was not so: We use self hosted GPS track software in all of our phones, and the protocol showed, that the night before the first reset, the phone drained 7% over night.
Then we bought a new phone, changed the SIM card to the new phone, and since then, the battery drainage has stopped.
So the situation is, no matter which firmware installed, the phone beeing directly after first configuration and with Wifi (so no need for mobile data usage), no calls, drains 5% an hour BUT If I pull out the SIM, it looses only 1% over night.
How can that be?
A faulty / dodgy SIM-card could cause increased battery usage if it's causing the phone to not stay connected to the network as the background processes involved in reading the SIM-card and registering to the network would be running far in excess to what they normally would.
I have tested another sim card, which provider uses other frequencies and also in the other sim slot.
This works without rebooting: I just plug in the sim, and an hor later the phone lost 8%. Then I took the SIM out and a whole day later the phone lost only 3% more. The battery drainage comes definetly from the sim usage.
I am thinking of radio updates: In the "olden days" I remember, that iphones got seperate updates for the radio module and for the user os.
Could it be, that I got a "faulty" update for my radio module with the update to miui 12, and the I changed through all the roms for the "user os" but the faulty radio update is still in there?
