Guide: Use RRO Layers on LG Marshmallow ROMs (work in progress) - G3 Themes and Apps

I will be updating this with pictures and more detail information within the next day or two. For now this will be a quick brief guide. This has been tested on the VS985 G3 variant on the Marshmallow 46A release. Those of you running other versions of LG's Marshmallow if you can confirm if this works on yours I'll get some kind of compatibility list going for your variant. Also to note this will not theme any of the LG apps or system settings as RRO Layers doesn't theme those things. In other words don't try to theme stuff such as phone and system settings unless if you are looking for force close issues. This will however theme many other things such as any Google apps and what not.
Steps:
1 - Backup your current ROM in TWRP. Just in case this doesn't work.
2 - Download Layers Manager which handles installing/uninstalling your themes - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lovejoy777.rroandlayersmanager&hl=en
3 - Download Layers Showcase this will make things a bit easier with finding themes - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lovejoy777.showcase&hl=en
4 - Look through themes on Layers Showcase.
5 - Once you find any themes you like use Layers Manager to install that theme. Make sure once you install said theme to reboot your phone so your theme will fully work. You more than likely will get a few app force closes during the theme install which is normal sometimes with installing these themes.
I'll expand these instructions over the next few days but I wanted to get some kind of basic post written right away which I'll expand on.

Works on mmstock port for d850. Thanks

Just thought I'd add on to OP's great guide; Don't install overlays for system apps such as Phone, (Unless you use Google dialer) Messenger, (Unless you use Google messenger or other Messenging apps) Settings, etc. This only works for third-party apps. You will get Force Closes on system apps you themed, or serious bugs.

Work the layermanager to stock Adrnoid MM for G3? I think work only to ASOP Roms like xenon-hd! Or iam wrong?

Not working on 30b

Not work on my LG G3 D855 with same ROM (fulmics 3.1)

Not function on lg g3 v30b ?
Inviato dal mio LG-D855 utilizzando Tapatalk

I'm using the LG G Stylo AKA G4 Stylo and the themes work except for theming the hideous quick settings menu on LG, the hideous contacts, and incallUI and the hideous settings on LG. If anybody knows a way to get rid of the LG quick settings and change it out with an AOSP type quick settings. I would love to know if someone finds a way without flashing a new ROM because there aren't many decent ROMs for this phone. There's an unofficial cm 12.1 but I'd rather have a layers based rom. There's one more ROM for the phone but it's based off the stock LG lollipop so the quick settings and everything remain the same.

No it does not. Use Layers for things like Google apps and other supported (by theme) user apps.
Layers will not work on Settings, LG apps, and I'm sure the SystemUI.
I have Theme Ready Google Apps installed so those apps look great with current layers theme.
Tekcafe 5.3 (V30a) ROM.

This sucks because this same phone (running MM 6.0 now) running Lollipop 5.1.1 was getting the quick settings themed and partially the settings and contacts. No incallui though which im working on that myself. I HATE LG so bad and any other company that imposes thier hideous looks on othera. Last LG I'll invest in or even samsung for that matter unless they have supporting aosp roms.

List of Xposed Modules for Moto X (Update 4 September 2013)

I've been trying various Xposed mods with my Moto X (413.9.0Q2.X-116-LCX-26); but a lot of them break the ROM. Would cause the device to get stuck on boot.
I'm assuming a mod would need to be specifically made for the Moto X. If someone is willing/clever enough to work on it, I'd be more than happy to contribute with testing/building the UI.
Some of the (specific) things I think people would be happy to see on a Moto X Xpose Mod:
• Phone Face Down action (mute/vibrate call)
• Remove Carrier Label from the statusbar (top left corner)
• Quick Unlock on PIN entry (instead of having to press 'Enter')
• Various status bar modifications (battery icons, colours on icons, centre clock)
• Solid black Navbar
• Quick Settings pull down options (left/right side on statusbar pull down)
• Quick Settings toggles options
As of Xposed Framework ver 2.2, the framework works on our Moto X.
Xposed Framework is required for the following modules to work. Grab the latest Xposed Framework installer from this thread:
[FRAMEWORK ONLY!] Xposed - ROM modding without modifying APKs
Available modules made specifically for Moto X
[XPOSED] MotoXposed - Hide carrier label, center clock by @rob43 (added on September 4, 2013)
List of available modules that are untested, and/or made for "every" Android device (warning: some might be incompatible with our Moto X stock ROM)
[INDEX][XPOSED] Collection of XPOSED Modules
Available modules that have been tested by @flashallthetime and known to work with Moto X (original thread: Xposed framework beta 2 mod your stock rom)
Mods that are safe to use:
App settings ( dual panel )
Enable Camera on lock screen ( I don't think this works)
Gravity box 2.2.1 ( multiple mods )
Maximize widgets
MoDaCo ( multiple mods to system and system ui)
Samsung stock jelly bean 1.0 ( battery mods)
Xbatteries(battery mods)
XBlast tools 1.5.1 ( multiple mods)
Xlocky ( lock screen mods)
XthemeEngine ( themes)
Digitalbluebattery ( battery mods)
[Xthemes] Mega Collection
Most of the mods are developed for Sammy phones but I was using dual panel mod on my lenovo tablet without issue, I believe there' s also a mod for installing themes for Roms without theme manager apk
Just tried it also and I was in a bootloop, thank God I download cwm xposed uninstaller, guess it could be that our ROM is odex but just guessing

Well I got xposed framework installed, download the beta 2 version

My two all time favorite mods would be:
Escalate ring tone while phone is in pocket.
Change location and sizes of soft keys. IE, back key on right and multitasking on left. I sort of got used to it from my s3
Can someone please compile a list of which mods did not soft brick your device? I don't want to go around blind flashing mods on a device that I don't have the stock ROM for, in case things go sour. Not a huge fan of restoring CWM backups, only for emergencies.
Yah I can do that as I started a thread in themes and app section

OP is updated; to streamline the thread make it a master list for all Xposed Modules for Moto X.

So does that mean we can use cm themes such as mianogen theme with xthemes in xposed? Or does it have to be an xtheme theme. Also which update for substrate are we looking for? It looks like the latest update is focusing on 4.3 already

[VRTHEME] [WIP] AOSP 4.3 for Stock ROMs v0.9 (Status Bar/Notifications)

Disclaimer: This theme replaces only requisite altered files within themed .apks - currently only LGSystemUI.apk. However, I am not responsible for any replaced/overwritten themes or mods, non-operational devices, or dead puppies. Flash at your own risk.
Note: This is a WIP and is just the beginning (hopefully). I am, by no means, a developer or great themer. I am mostly learning a lot of this stuff as I go and it takes me time - which I do not have a lot of. I do what I can, whenever I get the chance. Updates most likely will be slow. I am fully open to input or help from any who have some to offer; as long as it isn't a suggestion to add such-and-such feature/element. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Anyways, now that the garbage is done...
AOSP 4.3 for Stock ROMs
This project is to bring as much of AOSP elements as possible to G2 Stock ROMs.
Screenshots
Features
Currently modified packages: LGSystemUI.apk
- Changed Status bar and some notification area icons to AOSP icons
- Combined signal/data and arrows icons for wifi and mobile to match AOSP
- Changed clock and date colors to holo blue
- Blacked out notifications area, replaced and resized pulldown handle
- Moved LG-implemented battery percentage inside the battery (CM style)
- One-Finger notification expansion!! (seriously, LG? Two-finger expansion???)
Bugs
- Ticker (ongoing) notifications icons are slightly shrunk. I have been looking into this to discover why and fix it.
To Install:
- Download zip in attachments in this post
- Reboot recovery and flash zip
- Reboot and enjoy!
Currently, this has only been tested on VZW G2 with Malladus ROM. Technically this would work on all Stock-based G2 ROMs, although I know different carrier versions use different images in these apks - which I have not modified yet - so this would not quite look right on other variants. Once I change the rest of the icons, I will update the post reflecting the changes.
A HUGE thanks to:
Okibi for his amazing ROM
Google
CM
Ticklefish for his posts on editing key portions of Android
Enjoy!

I've not actually seen the new dialer yet, but i know they made a lot of functional changes to it. Dialer's cant just be added in as they tie in to deep portions of the OS I am not familiar with. I am hoping to make the G2 dialer layout similar to AOSP.

Android theme Engine Xposed Module

Dear users,
This is in reference to xposed Module "Android Theme Engine" .
I have opened this thread specially to request all users running KitKat 4.4.2 stock rom to test the module.
We understand that lot of kitkat users lately have been updating us for non working of the few components in the module hence keeping the same in mind we have started rectification process.
To start with we have managed to theme battery icon of kitkat 4.4.2 rom with LG G2. But due to non availability of the testing handset we cannot guarantee that i will 100% theme all battery icons running kitkat roms from other brands.
Therefore to deal with such issue we have decided to release a test version and request the users to test and leave the feedback with the phone brand and android version they are using to enable us to take care of the other brands.
Please Note: Kindly uninstall the old version as this version requires fresh install and complete reboot after making all the desired settings: Also, please do not worry if the battery icons do not align correctly as it may happen with few icon packs which will be delt in the final release. Objective is to ensure it works first.

we know the battery themes, some of theme do not align correct which will be corrected within first week of January 15. To enjoy battery theme, you can for the time being try hitech, Alien, Sony, Sprint,HonamiArrows, black Android... they will fit/align correct.
As far as clock is concerned... Please ensure you have all the correct settings in place...
I hope you have no issues with Navigation bar themes? You are able to see same theme all over the apps with option to set background from the list.
Await your feedback on the advise.

First post updated with modules and links for root and xposed. I also recommend using g4 tweaksbox over gravity box for stability and a member in the g4 forum has made some themes that work with our phones.

Also keep in mind that those are for the G4 and some drawables won't match all of ours. There are some differences in the G4 and V10. He owns a G4 so that is where his support will go.. I wouldn't recommend bombarding him with questions about the V10..

I was more so advocating g4 tweaksbox, I just wanted to give him some recognition because his themes are nice and more or less theme everything intended. We need our own themer for the v10 though

I know.. What I was saying was more to the general public and not directed at you. It just added it to my original post to you of thumbs up! No worries, definitely no worries.. There's just not enough development for this phone on other carriers yet and everyone that does dev for Lg is still on the G4 because it just came out too. Maybe soon they'll make the jump and it might not be till the next V whatever.. What I would recommend is having the other carrier owners get a phone for them to work on. That is about the only chance.. Right now the Tmo version is carrying this forum by default and that won't get this phone very far at all with development..
does second screen still force close whenever a call is made or received?
thanks in advanced.

About themes maybe is due to be not designed for new V30 theme engine.... Could yo try with one theme made and available for V30?
About packageinstaller is the included in V30 GAPPS. I haven't changed anything and if you use this from 7.0, if you enable floating bar and one app request you for some permission you can't grant it unless you disable floating bar (overlay). Can you tell me which apk fails to install?

This BETA release has full V30 framework, adapted of course to boot in our phone. SDK in build.prop has been upgraded to 25. Some features of 7.1.2 are now working, like app shorcuts; or some from V30 like nice battery saving modes, extended game options, partial support to V30 AoD, etc. Other features never will work since they need 7.1.2 libraries and we have 7.0 in G5.
My other release has also UX6+, but its framework uses G5 as base, with some patches from G6 and V30, but for all is 7.0

So this version should give more V30 like experience than the other one, right? Does the G5 camera zip from the other thread work?

Ok, thanks, just another question, I noticed that the H-ROM from the other thread drains a lot more battery than stock rom, Is something changed with this version?
