Feature Request - Clearmotion ( Video Interpoler) Effect - MX Player

Hey Every One ,
Did anybody heard about Clearmotion , trumotion aka Soap Opera Effect, Its used on watching videos on HDtv and some of Mediatek Chipset mobiles. Basically Its a adding of duplicate frames before and the frame after Of Video . By creating these frames, motion blur is reduced With 30fps and 60fps content. This is awesome experince for Music sports Movie lovers , Most of people doesn't know about it. Some of tv like sony , Toshiba ,lg has this technology , For mobiles only Mediatek Chipset only having this technology . For more info just google it .

For non mediatek chipset phones if anybody bring this, it would be good

Yup, tried this with my previous phone with a MediaTek MT6592 processor. The performance is OK with 720p H.264 files using HW decoder but audio and video are out of sync with 1080p files. Maybe the processor is not powerful enough or maybe MediaTek's frame interpolation algorithm is not yet that refined.
Anyway, would love to see this implemented in MX Player. I know this is a complex process but still there's no harm in hoping that it will be implemented in the future.
MediaTek's initiative of incorporating motion (or frame) interpolation into their processors is a step in the right direction. But I doubt other processor makers would do the same.

I made a video as well and the limit to the capture is as big as your memory allows, the file format is in the mp4 format so no conversion needed.
Here is my video of my newly used Tab.
It would be great if developers could see where the problem lies when flashing new roms .
None of my devices can run it. Not even my x86 Android builds. *shrugs.

[Q] ICS 3Dvideo mods

Using a pc program "mediainfo" I noticed the 3D video encoding has changed from the codec used in gingerbread. The codec is now listed as iso which is common enough, but the codec also uses "frame tripling". The frame rate is 30fps so are we getting a 30fps with 3 frames making 1, effectively 90fps or 10fps with 3 frames duplicated to "make" 30fps.
The new 3D files cause windows explorer to continually try to analyse the mp4 files and will not automatically unmount the sd card as it is continually trying to recognize the file. The same problem also when the 3D videos are transferred to PC and the folder is viewed in explorer, cannot even re-name them with a different extension to stop the lock-ups.
Sorry to say, but 90 fps is not even true. The S3D hardware is limited to only TWO images, so it's basically split-image, either 30fps or 60fps, both left and right images. If you try 90fps, you will have image ghosting which the transparent ceramic plate is timed wrongly against video frames or worse - you will see flashing or wavy patterns which will cause you the headache. And, LCD is normally locked at 60 hertzs, as is the case with non-3D LCDs.
EDIT: The file is basically a MP4 file - with some capable media players, probably like VLC player, it will display two "squeezed" images as seen by two cameras on the 3D phone.

I didn't have a problem moving or viewing the 3D files created in gingerbread. It seems the new codec used by ICS is causing windows problems as the codec is not recognized, windows just keeps trying to update the thumnails on the sd card when connected via usb or when removed and in a sd card reader.
Just wondered if anyone has found a way round this problem.
The "frame tripling" that is reported in the pc program {mediainfo} is a part of the codec description and cannot seem to find any mention of it in this forum.
Interesting... I have a modified ICS version of 3D camera, modified for CM10 - will try this. BTW, I don't like using thumbnail feature on Windows - nothing but a PITA.

Hmmm. I have Nvidia 3d vision and drivers on my pc and I can watch video directly over hdmi and copy them, etc. Maybe you need the Nvidia drivers???
Or updated Catalyst for AMD Radeon HD 4k or later. I have Radeon 4670, BTW. It's still a great general-purpose video card.
However, I don't have a 3D monitor. Definitely outside of my budget.

The "lockup" of file monitoring in widows7 for this new codec is not my main concern,annoying as it may be. I am worried about the mediainfo report of the frame mode is "frame tripling". my own research has been that 3D capture on a 3D camera by panasonic or philips or someone ACTUALLY records at 10fps and each frame is then repeated 3 times to give a 30fps video file This would give a poor motion quality video. I need to confirm that ALL o3D ICS updates have the same frame tripling video recording, as I have some "issues" with my upgrade in other software since upgrading to ICS .If the video recorded by the ICS upgrade is in fact 10fps and multiplied x3 then it is a novelty and not really persuing 3D by upgrading PC or TV to view real 3D.

Still interesting, however. 10 fps seems slow but here, the first ever stereoscopic 3D camcorders have slower in-order processors, BTW - not as advanced as what's in our phones. So, in reality 90 fps is actually viewable as 30 fps when the 3D LCD timing is factored here.

Indeed "TriDef Media Player" installed with my LG3D monitor can't play 3D movies from ICS but 2D is able to play.
"Stereo Movie Player" http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/index.html can't play 3D from ICS too.
Only "Stereoscopic Player" http://www.3dtv.at/Index_en.aspx can play that video.
Nvidia 3D Vision drivers work for me, but if you have an AMD GPU it may be different.

Can not Crop video - ONLY Stretch - Amlogic S812 Android TVbox and SONY AndroidTV

Dear All,
I just bought an Amlogic S812 the Android TV box to replace the old one (Allwiner A31s Android TVbox)
Currently when watching movies with the software MXplayer , it can not Crop the Screen Size to remove black place on top and bottom of screen, it only can use Stretch option to stretch vertically, does not stretch horizontally, so making everything in movies stretch out :crying:
I do not experience this problem on older devices using Allwiner A31s chip.
Pls help me fix this issue
P/S: I face this issue on SONY Bravia 55X9000C Android TV too.

Same issue with the newest s905x3 chipset, Android 9.0... I don't have all the options in my settings, I can't even place apps on homescreen using Nova Launcher, I can't see the bottom drawer to open all running apps. Do manufacturers modify the Android version they put on these boxes? Is there a way to fix these issues, especially the video player cropping? In my box no player can crop, only stretches vertically, leaving me with an incorrect aspect ratio.

I get to realise that this thread has a long history and there is no proper answer.
I too had the same problem while using MX player in Android tv. But some video are able to crop view. After many thoughts I get to realise that there are two kind of popular encoding in mkv format.
Videos encoded in H.264 have no problem. But if it is H.265 commonly known as HEVC it will no crop or zoom in.
I currently use H.264 video for maximum use of my tv screen.
Please Google these encoding method for better understanding. There are some interesting comparison between two.

Question on UHD Video Recording Limitations

Hi All from Toronto, Canada!
I hope this is the right place to ask this. My question is as follows:
I have an Honor Note 8 with the Kirin 955 and the Mali T880. The camera on this phone is the Sony IMX278 RGBW sensor, which isn't the best as I hear, but is able to record 4k/UHD video.
From what I can gather, the Kirin 955 doesn't support hardware level UHD video encoding (only DECODING), and any phone with this SoC isn't able to record 4k/UHD video.
Would it be possible (albeit a lot of work) to record 4k/UHD video and either encode it at a software level (i gather this would be really slow), or even by using the GPU instead of the CPU to encode it? From what I can gather, the GPU is much more efficient as processing graphics and 2D video shouldn't be a problem at all for it. It seems like a solution to this would allow any user with this hardware configuration to be able to enjoy their phone cameras a lot more.
I know 4k/UHD video isn't really widespread yet, but I do have the necessary components at home including a 4k TV to be able to enjoy this resolution, so I am looking for a solution to this. Is it as simple as modifying the media_profiles.xml file and installing a different camera app?
I don't know a lot about android development, but I am making it a point to learn as much as I can, and I have put quite a lot of research into this idea before posting here, including searching on XDA. I work in Software Application Support for a small CRM, and I have years of experience doing mods and customization on android devices, so I am familiar with the landscape here and I should at least be able to understand any answer no matter how technical.

I don't know much about Kirin SOC but with say QCOM to be able to encode via software using say FFMPEG the ISP would have to return preview frame with UHD Dimensions.
Its probably Capable of Encoding 4K maybe can check if it can be modded by understanding how everything works .
1st Check in /system/vendor/lib /system/lib/ lib64 for any file containing the word camera zip them attach them to your post
2nd download freedcam from play store in the menu scroll down and save camera parameters attach the file outputted to /DCIM/FreeDCam

Achieve best camera/video quality/fps discussion

Hello all, I have been trying multiple different avenues to achieve the best quality video or raw video streams and would like to share what I have found and open up a discussion for anything that could lead to kernel/magisk/isp pipeline mods that could benefit us all. Here are some apps and resources that I have found to be the best. The max encoding bitrate that I can achieve with avc/hevc is around 160mbps regardless.

Very good video app, can change api in app settings, paid app, but you can find mod version easily.

Superb advanced settings, alot of features and tweaks, everyone should have this cam. Bayer and dng capabilities

Newest GCAM can give 100mbps video bitrate but I prefer other apps due to lack of settings but good for the average user

Some questions I have are that would increasing frame buffer allow for higher video Bitstream bandwidth?
Also why or how is Qualcomm Spectra 380 shutter lag limited to 30hz and could this possibly be modified?
Could the Video Front End pixel clock or other settings be modified to achieve better quality?
Would gstreamer be good for something like this? Hence these links..
