[Completed] Compile rom from non-rooted device that has access to root filesystem - XDA Assist

So, I have an RCA RCT6773W22 7" tablet that, due to a repair center mix-up, is running a newer rom meant for the RCT6773W22B. Weird right? My friend has an RCT6773W22 like me, but with the correct rom. It is stuck at the boot logo. He has tried all recovery options. My question is, can I compile an update.zip for my friend from preexisting files in my devices root? Due to a rare rom setup on RCA firmware, I can copy any system file out of my tablet's root via ES File Manager. Is it possible to get a rom this way? I really want to help him, and I wouldn't mind having a rom on hand myself.

If you can make a partition dump then you certainly can make a flashable rom out of it. There's no dedicated forum for your device here in XDA but try asking in General discussion Questions and Answers Experts there may be able to help you.
Good luck

Thanks! It's good to know that it's possible.

[Q] Got a question about recovery images

Good day to everyone here on XDA. I'm a Noob and I need your help.
My question is about recovery images.
Can you build your own recovery?
I came up with this question because of my problem on my phone. I messed up with my phone's recovery and i dont know how to fix it.
My phone is a Cherry Mobile Click W120. Hardware MT6575. My problem started when I tried to flash a Universal CWMR to it and unfortunately, I failed. Now, it doesnt have a recovery mode anymore. Searched about a million times for a solution, flashed hundreds of recoveries via mobileuncle(cwmr, twrp, amon ra, even stock ones) but still no luck.
So, is there any way to build your own recovery? Or do we have a recovery image out there which is compatible to this device?
I hope someone will respond to a noob like me. But still, im hoping someone can help me.
I will appreciate any kind of reply. Either negative or positive. Another question, is it possible to ask someone for the recovery image who also uses the same unit that i'm using? then flash it on my phone?
I'm no expert but I'll try to explain it to you.
1st question: yes, you can, since all custom recovery images are made from source, you can find out more here: http://xda-university.com/as-a-developer/porting-clockworkmod-recovery-to-a-new-device
2nd question: you can find a custom recovery image for popular devices, but you won't find it for every android device out there.
3rd question: he must have the image, if it's already flashed into the phone, I don't think that it can be extracted. you can also flash the stock recovery image if you find it. I can't help you there tho.
Now, I did some searches on the forum and google but I didn't find any CWM recovery image for your mobile phone..
Hit thanks button if this helps you in any way. Cheers !

[Completed] [Q] Hard Bricked phone | PLEASE HELP

Hi guys.
So today I was like experimenting with my phone (3 months old) and I was trying to install new ROM on it. I couldn't install custom ROM (CM 11.0) from my recovery mode because I was always getting some sort of errors so I took it to the next level and tried to do it with my PC. I downloaded ROM on PC and tried to install it with fastboot mode and the program that I downloaded on my PC asked me to flash .img file not .zip and I(dumbass) found boot.img inside of .zip file and selected only that boot.img file and flashed it. And now its stuck in boot loop.
My phone is not really famous and its not brand phone. It's "H18 NOA C24" some copy of S3 Mini I couldn't find the stock firmware or ROM for it on the internet. Please help, tell me what can I do to bring my phone back to live.
Thanks
Hi,
So what happened is you just flashed a kernel which probably isn't compatible with current ROM
Unfortunately I can't find anything about your device here so I would ask your question in the q&a section here and hope someone will have a fix for you

[Completed] [Q] How to remove twrp and fully unroot LG G3 d-855?

I have rooted my LG G3 and tried flashing twrp (no idea if it worked, when booting to recovery the notification led just flashes red and blue...). I decided that I want my phone to be completely stock again (If thats possible..) and couldn't find info on this for G3 devices. I'm quite sure that my twrp flash attempt failed but I would like to remove any files that the installer might have placed on my phone when attempting to install it. I also need help in unrooting my device, I have heard that you can do so from SuperSU, but does that FULLY unroot my device? I am running Lollipop 5.0
Hello and thank you for using XDA Assist.
This thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089 should provide the information required to completely flash your device back to stock.
This is the only way to actually reset the device and completely remove any files you may have uploaded to the device while rooting and attempting to flash custom recovery.
This method will also wipe all internal storage. So please back up anything like picture, videos and files you would like to save.
Also make sure you select the appropriate firmware for your device.
If things are unclear I suggest you ask the individuals in that thread as those are the users who are experts in your device.
Good Luck!

[Completed] Arnova 10cG3 softbricked, dont know how to recover

I have been searching for answer over 10 days, but still can't figure out how to resolve this. I don't how exactly it bricked, it just couldn't start anymore. I can get into recovery menu, but there isn't any option to recover android. It was rooted before, and worked normally. I cant find any other way to flash any rom on it. I appreciate any help on this matter, tnx in advance!

Hello, and welcome to XDA Assist!
Please register for an account so you can post to the rest oif the site. The [Ask Any Question][Newbie Friendly] thread of the > Android Development and Hacking > Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting will provide a good start to resolve your issue.
What seems confusing is that there may be some Arnova's made by Archos. Archos has a forum, but sadly, Arnova does not (not finding much about your device either).
At any rate, try the thread/forum above, and be patient with regard to a response. This seems to be a rare device, so it would be harder to get the attention you need.
Hope this helps, and good luck!
The other way
I understood that the complete system is wiped out. I can use adb while its in recovery menu. I used it to transfer official system image onto it, but in its options i cant find it. I transferred it to multiple locations, all of them can be seen in recovery menu but all are empty. I wonder if there is a way to flash some other android version on it? Or some ROM like CWM, but apparently there are no official releases. And since i am not very good at this i wonder how to make sure that kernel is OK? Can such thing be done? It has Android system recovery <3e>

CWM is a recovery, not a ROM, but can be used to flash ROMs.
With 3e, you should be able to flash the stock ROM for the device via adb (called side loading). So that may work for you.
Hope this helps.

[Completed] Hardware specs for developing a custom recovery!

I Pre-Apologize If this Has been asked before My Interest at the current time is about developing a recovery image for my soft-bricked Nextbook Ares A11 Tablet android 5.1 64 bit Atom processor 1gb ddr3 ram if i remember correctly I was experimenting with trying to find a recovery image that i could flash to it and well Bricked I can however boot to some sort of bios hardware settings in it with the ability to boot from file and change manufacturer hardware settings ...I dont believe that is part of the android booting process but somewhere hardcoded! As for the android booting i no longer have the stock recovery<!--go figure--> but i still am able to access fastboot in download mode and i have the update firmware from the manufacturers for my specific device! Sorry if this seems like 2 questions If you could tell me wether i could flash the update to fix it has the boot.img in it also other files looks similar to how to root with file-systems anyways if you have no advice on how to unbrick my advice Here is the real question!! What matters when developing a recovery.img for a specific device what do i have to take into consideration as to hardware specs and software specs any good links to that would be awesome and for the final question how to distinguish my recovery partition type idk if it is MTD or BML I cant find the MTD folder so assuming it is BML I can also get additional info such as last_log or any of that I am able to USB boot the tablet into Kali Linux Sorry for Such a long and drawn out explanation I will revise my question if needed and possibly start two separate posts on this! Thanks in advanced i really appreciate the Help!!! XDA Rules
