What modem are you guys using on 6.0+? - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Greetings, just curious to see what modem everyone is using with ROMs based on 6.0 or higher.
Trying to see if I can improve my reception.

Reception is going to depend on your location/carrier. Best way to figure it out what is best(for you) would be to flash them all yourself.

Same question here. Since I am in 6.0 network reception has decreased so I would like to know if anyone can recomend me a modem

You can use any modem, on any ROM. I've used the 6.0 modems on CM11S. And I've used the CM11S modems on 6.0. Modems do not rely on software, use whatever. You have to flash them all, find out what one has the best signal, and stick to that.

I´m using atm the default modem.
But in previous builds i used this modem:
forums.oneplus.net/threads/how-to-flash-older-modems-00241-44s-etc-on-cm13-based-roms.423249/, because the default modem doesnt worked on my OPO.

Im using the frankestein one here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/firmware-modem-oneplus-one-lollipop-t3300907
Works fine.

Can a dirty flash an older nightly over a new one?

I'm on the latest CM11 nightly and I'm wondering if I can flash back to an older, more stable, version. Is this generally an ok thing to do?

Sounds like a bad idea but definitely possible. If you make a backup first you have nothing to lose in trying right?
Yes its fine to do.

Port international lollipop?

Just out of curiosity would it be possible to port over the international version of lollipop?
not without a kernel for our variant

The AOSP based CM12 will probably work better than the actual lollipop update. I'm running it on my G3 and it works great. It's like using a mini Nexus 6. I don't use my G3 and much as my Nexus but having the ui be the same is always nice.

I do miss the camera app that LG has but even with google camera it works great.
Its okay. Not the best. The camera seems better on the proper firmware.. The why I was hoping we could port it.. But doesn't look possible since it relys on LGs code.

What's the latest greatest ROM everyone is using for the Idol 3?

I rooted my 6045O last night and I'm excited to try a ROM on this phone. I seen the big thread on the CyanogenMod 12.1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/ido...om-cyanogenmod-12-1-alcatel-onetouch-t3225533
But I wanna make sure it's the best ROM for this phone.
you cant read idol 3 section?
Wow thanks for being friendly to the new guy. As I stated, I seen the big thread on the CyanogenMod 12.1. Just wanted to make sure there wasn't a better ROM that you guys might know of before I put time into learning about that one.

I'm not for sure either.great work on all though.I'm leaning toward the dcz rom cause from my understanding its fast, smooth and I like stock style roms.
I didn't see a DCZ thread?

If you gonna flash a ROM know that besides dcz, only fully working ROM is cm12.1 also I'm using 60450
Ok so those are my options. Thanks. Do you know any pros/cons of one vs the other?

Well do you want stock ROM with overclock kernel(DCZ) vs the beauty and customization of cyanogenmod?
All dcz rom is a almost fully debloated stock ROM and custom kernel made by team adrv.

If the stock rom did not have such lag I'd suggest the majority stick with it unless you had a specific reason not to. Since it DOES have lag, I'd suggest the i806/DCZ rom since it is a version of stock that should eliminate the lag and work fully with the hardware. All the other rom's have issues of one type or another.
Resurrection Remix still has several things wrong..the camera off the top of my head. CM12.1 still has issues. Currently the cm12.1 dev does not have the device in hand...neither does the resurrection remix dev....working on rom's without the device is similar to driving blindfolded. You are guaranteed to get SOMEWHERE but it may not be where you want to be.
There are only 3 real roms available other than original stock and I HIGHLY recommend you backup your stock with twrp so you can go back to it for system updates. Why are the system updates so important if you are on another rom? They are the only way you can get modem driver mods/improvements among other things.
I'm not sure which I'd prefer at the moment. Guess I'll just read lol

Cm 12.1 (10/29) is most stable on my idol 3 (6045i). Resurrection Remix is not stable. Random reboots, lag and speakers and cam don't work.

Thanks for the tips. I do like performance and stability over anything. So I'll check out DCZ. I've already backed up stock.

You lose some of the stock features like quick memo and slide aside, but I think it's worth it for the improved UI (cleaner/less cluttered) and performance. Double tap to wake and sleep still works. Cm also has better themes that can change boot animation, on screen buttons, etc.

Yeah, you need to use gapps that match the Android version of the ROM. I suggest 5.1 open gapps. I can't post links yet. You can find the open gapps by searching for CyanogenMod gapps.

Any special requirement needs to be taken care off before flashing this CM ROM?
I've seen many people reported issue when coming from other versions of ROM or other ROMs.
custom recovery version? bootload version? bootcode or whatever it might be?

There shouldn't be any issue, I've found in my extended troubleshooting that 8.0 tends to stick around no matter what you flash (I flashed different kernels and the ROM didn't change, much to my annoyance at the time)
