[GUIDE] How to flash CWM or TWRP recovery and root your device!
Disclaimer: Your warranty is now void. You do this in your own risk. I do not take any responsibility to your device.
Credits: This root method was found from a facebook group that uses this phone, i am just posting it here. Give thanks to Eduardo Perez!
I ported TWRP recovery for this device and Eduardo did the CWM recovery. Also thank rua1 from XDA for his MTK droid tools. Koush for his driver installer.
BACKUP YOUR DEVICE BEFORE DOING ANYTHING IN THE EVENT SOMETHING GOES WRONG.
Requirements:
1. A windows PC
2. MTK Droid tools
3. SP flash tools
4. CWM or TWRP recovery
5. Universal ADB driver
6. MTK preloader driver
[GUIDE] FLASH CWM/TWRP
1. Download the attached files below and extract them anywhere on your computer.
2. Extract Mtk VCOM drivers and install it. This is for the preloader drivers which will be used later.
3. Install ADB driver. Go to settings, then development if you don't see development go in about and click on the build number 7 times to enable development mode. Enable USB debugging.
4. Extract any other files in the folder and then go to SP flash tools
5. Disable any antivirus program and maybe turn off UAC.
6. Run flashtool.exe as administrator.
7. If anything pops up just ignore it and click ok.
8. Go to scatter loading and click it, locate the scatter file from the extracted folder and open it.
9. When it opens click on the recovery option and click the check box.
10. Decide which recovery you want and rename it to recovery.img.
11. Click on the location in the same recovery option and choose your recovery.img
12. Turn off your phone and take out the battery.
13. Click on Download and then connect the phone to the PC.
14. If you did everything i said above, it will flash your chosen recovery.img and you will have a custom recovery.
[GUIDE] ROOT/Superuser
1. Reinsert the battery and turn on the phone.
2.Place the root_grouper-tilapia_4.4_update.zip and superuser.zip on your sdcard or internal storage.
3. Turn off the phone and boot it into recovery mode.
4. Navigate using the volume keys for CWM recovery or just use touch for TWRP. Use the power button to select.
5.Select install zip from sdcard and choose zip from sdcard. Locate the zip files that you sent.
6. Flash the root_grouper-tilapia_4.4_update.zip first then flash the superuser.zip
7. Reboot your phone and there you go. Root Access

I alrdy rooted it. Im tryn to install CMW. Cant find recovery image anywhr for this device and this way of puttn it on here with this program is not workn at all
Okay, I just bought this phone and have been trying all the no PC methods for rooting this thing(TowelRoot and iRoot), no dice.
If anyone has done this for the following, let me know:
Model Number 4037T
Firmware Version 4.4.2
Build Number ALPS.KK1.MP1.V2.10
Custom Build Version C2VUMV0
Baseband version MOLY.WR8.W1315.MD.WG.MP.V34
Edit: Got it rooted via Kingo Root.
I have been trying for a while to root this thing. Framaroot, iRoot, and the others (Android-based) didn't work. Finally, I tried Kingo Root. But here's the rub - T-Mobile Device said it was rooted, and Kingo said it was rooted, and I got the KingoUser app in my drawer; but no apps that require root will work. So, all it seemed to really do is trick the thing into thinking it was rooted even though it is not.

I hace tried every single method and it seems its impossible to root 5042T running 4.4.4 KitKat... Any help will be apriciated.:crying:
Been trying to root mine for some time too, tried all the app ones(kingroot ect), even desktop versions and no luck. Would appreciate some help too.
I need help with this as well.
I found out that the latest firmware blocks root. I successfully rooted mine with Kingroot for the A3CUMC1 firmware. You need to downgrade the firmware then apply root.
it's easy to root 5042t
it's easy to root 5042t
1) KingRoot-5.0.5.apk
2) after rooting reboot and install other version of KingRoot-4.8.1-136.apk, reboot
3) then install SuperSUme-6.7.0-Pro.apk and it will remove KingRoot exchanging it on SuperSU
4) then apdate SuperSU till SuperSU-2.78-2-Pro.apk
5) Plus it's not bad after all to install BusyBox-51-Pro.apk and ADB-Insecure-2.00.apk and Apps2SD-12.6Pro.apk

I have a alcatel U5 TCL 5440a and bootloader is unlocked. I tried Kingoroot and Kingroot. None of them aren't working. Is there any other way to root my smartphone?
If the bootloader is unlocked you can try to boot a custom recovery and flash the su binary that way. Plenty of good guides on how to do this.
