Hi,
My sister give me a samsung galaxy S4 who has fell into the water, the phone always boot (normal, recovery and download mode), so, now i need to push key to boot in différent mode :
- No key pressed (just power) => boot the recovery
- Vol down + home + power => normal boot
- download mode can be boot only with adb
It's look like partition are corrupted !
I've used odin and s4 pit file to repartion the phone + push stock rom: no success
Now i would like to try to reinstall bootloader so i'm not sure on how to do this, in my zip file i've a "boot.img", is it the bootloader?
If yes, in odin, i've just to put the pit file, the .tar.md5 file as PDA, and checking "re-partition" and "update bootloader" option?
If no, where can i find bootloader image for samsung phone?
Thank you in advance for your reply

First, please have a look at the S4 homepage:

Hi,

Hi all,
I am trying to put cyanogenmod 9 on my Samsung Galaxy Gio. Following these instructions found here
Download: px-CWM-v2.zip
Place it on root of your sdcard
reboot to recovery mode
install this cwm from recovery
results in me not being able to boot into recovery (after following the above instructions). The phone said that the installation was successful.
When I try to boot into recovery all I get is a black screen with the Samsung logo on it. If I try to turn it off it just goes into a boot loop. So I am unable to continue with the next part of the installation process.
If I remove the battery and put it back in then power on normally, the phone boots and runs normally.
Current OS: Froyo 2.2.1 XXKB9 (Baseband XKB8).
Model: GT-S5660
Rooted: Yes (used SuperOneClick).
Can anyone tell me what has happened and how I can fix it?
Thanks for your time.
Best Regards
Bidski
Just an update.
I can still get into download mode (hold vol -, home, and power button simultaneously until yellow "downloading..." appears on screen) and I can also get into emergengy downloand mode (hold vol -, vol +, home, and power button simultaneously until sansumg logo and "Emergency Dload" appear on the screen).
But I still cannot access recovery mode (hold home and power simultaneously).
Using Odin (version 4.42 I believe) and the download mode I can re-flash the original stock ROM and this allows recovery mode to work again as normal. However, attempting the steps that I mentioned in my first post lead to the same result.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Best Regards
Bidski

OK, I have gingerbread flashed on to my galaxy gio. All seems good and I managed to get recovery flashed and have done a backup. Recovery seems to work fine too. I used a different version of recovery that I found on this site that says it worked for rfs and ext4 partitions (trying to find this post again ).
My question now is do I need to flash an ext4 converter before I flash cm9?
Best Regards

Got recovery from this post.
I also downloaded the ext4 formatter from that post, but have not used it yet as I am not sure I need to or not.

Download original stock rom from http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=1&o=1&m=GT-S5660&r=4#regiona
Boot into download mode (hold vol -, home, and power button simultaneously until yellow "downloading..." appears on screen).
Connect Odin, load the original stock ROM into Odin and flash.
Odin should reboot your phone once it has finished its business.
Good luck.

I used samsung kies to recovery it back turned out my phone can't be on now. Odin can't detect my phone too.
I suggest to flash an Original Firmware, ROOT it, Have CWM (Clockwork Mod) installed and proceed with your custom ROM installation

I have a Samsung Galaxy s Dous GT-S7562 Then i wanted to root it Using RootKit...After Successed Root Process I Get an idea...That i Have To Flash CWM Recovery on My Phone...So..I decided To use Flashify app
After I Used They Have an Options:
-Boot img.
-Recovery Download.
-Flash any Thing.
In the Matter Of Fact i choosed The First One and I selected the Recovery Image That i already download before.
after a while my phone ask me to restart...i pressed OK....Then My Phone Restarted...Since that time my phone Just Show The Welcome Screen"Samsung Galaxy GT-S7562" No thing Else...Can't Open Cant Get in Download Mode OR recovery mode... :crying:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. You've chosen the wrong option from the menu. A boot.img is a kernel, so selecting that option writes to the boot partition, which means you've selected a recovery to be written to your boot partition (this is not good). The correct option to choose would have been recovery download. I'd suggest you check out this thread:

I have a Samsung galaxy ace GT-S5830
I tried to install a custom ROM and messed up, and now I cannot access recovery mode but can access download mode. So I tried to flash the stock ROM using Odin but when I connected the phone to the computer, an error comes up saying "USB device not recognized". I have tried numerous drivers without getting results, I tried on different computers, I tried using different USB cables, but no results.
Please does anyone know of a way to fix this ? thanks in advance
