hello
i'm a newbie to android, and got an i9003
i tried to solve the gps lock issue, following various hints described in the forum, with no luck
finally, i followed the guideline for flashing the rom from the following topic:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1190163
and now, there are no problems
i rooted the phone, using superoneclick, restored my programs from froyo with titanium
i installed cvm from this topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16169086&postcount=590
and i tried to deodex, more than one time so to say, but whenever i use root explorer to view system/apps afterwards, i still see the .odex files.
in the cvm, i use the following method:
"install zip from sdcard" --> "choose zip from sdcard" --> Search " Deodx_XKPE.zip" --> " - Yes - Install Deodx_XKPE.zip" --> Reboot system now
What am i doing wrong?
Thanks for the help in advance.

Did you restore the systems files as well while restoring from TB?
I tried deodexing right after rooting with SOC, and before I started restoring with TB.
With TB, I only restored a dozen or so programs, like Astro, AndFTP etc.
guys, how can i enter cwm mode?
the one with black background and green text?

Error is like:
Error in update.zip

Can anyone help me on this?
I'm not 100% sure, but I have a feeling that may be related to an incorrect update-binary in the ZIP. Try downloading another Explorer ROM and copying the update-binary from it into your ZIP, replacing the one that's there already. It's located like this within the ZIP: META-INF/com/google/android/update-binary
EDIT: You don't have to download a full ROM btw, any recovery flashable ZIP should do, e.g. one of the custom kernels such as Cranium (smaller download than a full ROM)
Thanks

There is a problem, i use my htc explorer for calling and other works, so whenever i want to check my rom, i have make nandroid backup which takes 15-20 minutes bcoz of lots of apps installed. and after checking the rom i need to restore my previous system which is very time consuming. Is there any other way to check the rom working or not without using it in my explorer, maybe using an emulator in windows 7? if there is an easy way then pls help me on this.
Let me explain you clearly what i am doing.
1. I extraced rom.zip file from HTC Explorer RUU.
2. I placed it in original_update folder in android kitchen.
3. I set up a working folder from android kitchen menu and i got these files and folders in WORKING folder
boot.img
system
META-INF
4. I selected the option 99 in kitchen menu that is Building a ROM.
5. After successful completion i got a zip file in OUTPUT folder.
6.Then, i copied that update.zip file from OUTPUT folder to my sd card.
7. Now, i boot into recovery, and try to install zip from sd card but it shows an error like this
Error in sd-card/update.zip
(Status 0)
Installation Aborted.
Now i dont understand why it is giving me an error even i have not touched any file from the working folder.
am i doing it wrong? pls help me.

I have no idea what you're doing wrong. But I don't think you have tried my suggestion from earlier in the thread.
Take the final update.zip file you have (the one you put on the SD card and try to install), and open it using an archive manager such as 7zip. Navigate into META-INF/com/google/android and delete the file "update-binary" that is located there. Then replace it with this one: http://d.pr/f/VHF1
Close 7zip, copy the ZIP to your SD card and try to install it in recovery.

Well, 7 > 0, therefore it's better
In all seriousness, I think this means it's probably getting further than before, but there's some other problem with the ROM. I don't know the various status error codes, I just recognized 0 as one I'd come across before. I'm afraid I can't be of any further assistance I don't think.
EDIT: From here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30415128#post30415128
Solution:- One or some of the prerequisite requirement for the needed upgrade is missing or corrupted . So you may need to identify and replace that requirement for the installation to continue. Most likely could be due to wrong bootloader, wrong CWM, Wrong IMEI, Wrong Radio etc

I think this is the error....
When you setup a working folder then change your updater-script to update script... ( search for the option to change it) if you want to make some changes in update-script Do so and then build your rom... the update-script will automatically be changed to updater-script .. now place the rom and flash.. If any problem feel free to ask

"I have my tab rooted and bootloader unlocked. I used OTA Rootkeeper to temporarily unroot. The OTA update downloaded and attempted to install but failed. I downloaded the update again and saved it to my extra SD card. I then used CWM recovery to attempt installation again. Failed again. I am thinking that maybe the unlocked bootloader or CWM is causing the failure. Anybody have any ideas or input? Thanks!"
delete the first line in updater-script and it should work
if not than it´s possible that your not on the right version or you have to remove all check line´s and install then
please upload and post the update here for other users which are not able to download it. thx
How do you save the update to the external SD? I only get the option to download, and the file seems quite hidden from me.
Where is the OTA update stored at- read this to find out

You can save the download by choosing the "Later" option when prompted to install. Then you can go to the root directory of the device to the \cache\fota_dn directory and the update will be there. From there you can copy it and save it elsewhere on your eternal-SD card of wherever. if you choose to "Install now" option, and the update fails, the OTA update is not left in the \cache directory.
I always choose to "Install later" so I can keep a copy of the OTA update. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the reply, but I think this is a little beyond my skillset level and I don't want to mess something up! I'm not sure how I cna upload the OTA update to this forum, but if you tell me, I will be glad to do it!
http://www14.zippyshare.com/v/40506917/file.html
That's the original OTA file. I'm not comfortable editing anything.
Thanks, bidniss for letting me know how to catch those OTA files.
EDIT:
Okay, I edited my updater-script (not the file above) and tried to install from CWM. Failed at "apply_patch_check("/system/app/LinkToFacebook.odex".)" with a big string of numerals and letters. I assume mine failed because I have deleted the Facebook link. Will try to restore it on my system and attempt update again.
Recovered my app backups and tried to install update again. This time it failed at "apply_patch_check("/system/lib/modules/bcmdhd.ko" ...). No clue what that is, but after a quick search I found it has to do with wifi? and is in the kernel..Which I'm running the modified version of....So...Dang.
Screw it..Figured while I was already tinkering I might as well just install CM10. It's pretty sweet, by the way.
i will download it and remove all the checks, than you can try again, so i did it some time ago

edit: hier is the updater-script
change to the one in your zip an it should run through!!! but MAKE A NANDROID BEFORE.
if your on the wrong version it MAY be you screw up your sys because it looks like the file checks didn´t match.
did you do any patch before the OTA Update?

No patches. I am on the OTA JB version Acer_AV051_A700_RV09RC08_PA_CUS1 Build number: Acer_AV051_A700_1.034.00_PA_CUS1
My tablet has an unlocked bootloader and is rooted. The update fails. I am turning off the root with OTA Rootkeeper. I get a message that says, "failed to verify whole-file signature"
"signature verification failed"
"assert failed: getprop("ro.product.name")=="a700_pa_cus1"
"Error in /cache/acer_ug/update.zip"
I am using CWM v6.0.1.5 to install the update.
Does this shed any light that may help?- Thanks!
"assert failed: getprop("ro.product.name")=="a700_pa_cus1"
this is first line in updater, if you remove, this error shoul not aplly again
if other check errors apear then you have to remove all of the checks, like i did in the updater-script, which i added in my post.
else try to disable verification check in CWM
and also look here and try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1810687

Thanks for the info! My update.zip is on my Windows 8 PC and I may have to move it to my Win 7 PC because winzip is not allowing me to extract the files so I can "copy & paste" the updater-script file you posted. If there is a simpler way to do it, please let me know and thanks again!
use 7zip or winrar, open the zip und C&P the file into it
or long way, extract all , do modify and then repack all files an folders INSIDE the extractet/modified folder, NOT the folder AND it´s content
your also able the open inside the winrar window the script and change it with Notepad++
EDIT::
aaaaah wait:
if your not able to open it, you have to decrypt it with acer decrypter first, then it´s an "real" zip

First this app will only work on a stock/stock base ROM. Second, you need a root file app, like root explorer or root browser. In root explorer you have to select to give r/w permission.
Go to the location of the app, long press it and select copy. Then navigate back to
/system/app and paste it. Then long press it again, select permissions and make it rw-r--r--. Then reboot
Hopefully this will install for you. If it doesn't than the apk itself would need to be modified.
One last thing, if you have another sec.player.apk in system/app, you might need to change it from .apk to .bak then reboot before you begin the other process. You can just rename it back to
.apk and make sure permissions are right then reboot to re-enable it.

Download your stock firmware from here https://firmwarefile.com/colors-p85-plus
Extract from the zip the boot.img and put it in your sdcard
Download the latest Magisk Manager in apk format from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445 go to the section "Installation instructions/via Magisk Manager"
Install the app and open it, in the main screen tap on install and you will be prompted for install the zip, tap on install and you will see three options, select "patch boot image file" then Magisk will patch it and you will find the new boot image in your internal memory/Magisk Manager folder
Let me know when you got it and then we go for the next steps
