So I ended up selling my black Sony xperia z5 and I bought a brand spanking new one, in white, and I've noticed some subtle differences.
The first one is the gap in the power button is far smaller than the first one I had, it looks better constructed. I also noticed my phones signal is far better than it was on the previous one. Which would often go from 5 bars to none, and then back up. It seems far more stable now.
So I wanted to ask whether anyone else has found the same thing? And whether hardware revisions with the z5 is a well known thing?
That's interesting what revision is yours?

is it possible to check which revision do you have?
Yeah, the revision number is printed on the side of the box the phone came in. Mine's Rev 3 from October 2015 - we're all wondering if there's a newer revision out there now.
I have rev 4 all the phone is good.

Okay so I purchased two nexus 5's about two months ago for my girlfriend and I and it wasn't until yesterday that I had the phones side by side and I noticed that one of phones screens is significantly brighter and has richer colors than the other on the exact same brightness(100%) .. The whites are much whiter on mine as opposed to the other one just not looking as bright Same as colors to.. My friend just bought one last week and his has a dull screen and my other friends is a bright one like mine .. U probably wouldn't notice this unless u had two to compare... Had anyone else noticed this? I looked online and couldn't find anything about this.. Is this a manufacture defect? . I'm asking because I need to buy another and don't want to take the chance of getting one with a dull screen... Thanks!

I have a friend with one that I can check against on Thursday night to let you know what I find.
I understand that there were (at least) two different batches of Nexus 5s.
The one that was released later had larger holes for the mic and speaker and firmer buttons. I am not sure if that is why one is also brighter too.
Were the phones bought at the same time or a couple of months apart?
Which one was brighter? The more recent one or the older one?
There is only one hardware revision for the nexus 5. The larger holes and firmer buttons are just rumors. It just happened to be pure coincidence. I have 2 n5 in the house( one of which is manufactured in February and it has small speaker holes) and they have both different screens as you mentioned. It is not a manufacturing defect. As a matter of fact, all the screens are not the same. Mine has a yellower tint to it but is also brighter. I just use Franco's app to change it to the color I want. Simple.

My first Nexus I was in the first batch could be dimmed till you could almost see nothing using elemental kernel but this Nexus 5 the newer one I just this week with bigger holes and nicer feeling buttons can't not even as close using same kernel

I didn't get to see him last night, maybe this weekend. But I will let you know when I compare them though.
I was able to compare the phones on Monday and they appear to have the same brightness level. He is using stock Kit Kat and I am using Beanstalk ROM on mine and no difference was seen.
Maybe a couple of back lights for the screen are faulty on the dimmer phone??
Did anyone at Google support give any explanations?
Hi guys,
I just get my fourth nexus 5 (I already had 1 black & 2 whites) and suprise... the back isn't as soft as my first black nexus 5. That's not "glossy" like the white but seems that they changed something.
Something I noticed is that my new nexus 5 was manufactured in February and my three old ones are from January.
Does anybody else seen that ?
I got my first black Nexus 5 on launch day and another one just on Monday. Both feel exactly the same.

Actually I have. My friend's Nexus 5 is newer, it's a slightly different color and the back is not as soft.
No two devices are the same... Some may have a slight soft back, some may not.

I also noticied that the screen is a bit more "yellow" than my others phones. But I suppose that it's like the back, I cannot say anything : the phone is working so "there's no problem" for LG/Google
Mind if I ask why you have 4 Nexuses?

If you're talking about the n5, The speakers weren't updated nor was the style...
Before this thread gets lost in the debate from a couple months ago about revisions and the months it was manufactured, there was still only one revision, rev11. Like someone else mentioned, the phones won't be identical. Some might feel a bit different. I for just got a replacement last week for a nexus 5 I had since nov and it feels the same. Also, the yellow screen is something people have experienced from the very beginning.
I'm making a cluster with them to create an Iron man suit.
Seriously, one for me and the others for members of my family. I'm the only one they know who has a google account with a credit card on it. So i'm the only one able to buy the phones

my Nexus 5 look likely to be an old one with a small speaker hole
Does it possible that new batch has an old body revision ???

Man, the whole new revision/batch thing is bulls**t.. I have 402 device and it has rather small speaker holes and little rattling on power button. There is just one revision. Manufacturing tolerances made some people think there is new revision, but there isn't. You can see it in bootloader, it says rev 1.1.
Hi to everyone, after a sad story with a LG Nexus 4 that i bought from a guy i am back to my old (and dear) Galaxy Nexus but now, he is totally messed up... i can't use it anymore..
So i am planning to buy the oneplus but i read on the internet about the annoying touch screen bug (that is a hardware bug, so i think it is very hard to fix with a update or whatever).
At this point, the question is: the new stock (I mean the new production line of smartphone) of OnePlus one, still have this bug ?
I love oneplus one, i really love this phone.. great designe, great components, great price but i am very scared about the touchscreen bug!
Also, i won't wait the new oneplus becouse it will be for sure pricier that the One and it will be released theorically the last 3 month of 2015...
Thank you for any suggestions
A presto

I bought 1+1 last week and i dont have this touchscreen issues, afaik only minority of users are concerned by this problem, for me its working smooth on stock and custom roms [emoji106]
I did not have the touch screen issue for almost half a year. As far as I can explain it started happening when the temperature outside got warmer, even if it is much colder again, the issue persists.
I need to flash the new Ak kernel with the new touchscreen firmware, which has been released yesterday and check if the problem still exists....
But what I wanted to tell you is that I did not have the touchscreen problem first.
Many thanks.. i am very near to buy it it...
Today there is a spicel price sale but actually i can't place order

Have bought my 1+1 about 3 weeks ago. No problem with touchscreen. There's no yellow band on the screen. Everything works pretty well! Lollipop is awesome! One thing you should know. If you're buying a white version, it's a little bit slippy and also quickly scratches and gets dirty.
Why would you buy this bug riddled phone at this point?

What bugs are you talking about?
Actually there is only one "bug" at touchscreen but is not a default bug and they can fix it in warranty.
For many people the touchscreen issues might be caused by a hardware problem. If it really was software after more than a year it should have been solved.
I wanted to let you know that it seems the touchscreen problem is gone after latest CM 12.1 nightly with integrated touchscreen firmware update.

Don't take notice, it isn't riddled with bugs. I've had two for almost a year and have zero issues. Most "bugs" are caused by people who don't know what they're doing.

I have 2 OnePlus, One is bought for almost a year till now, I think it's the first batch one, China version, it does have yellow band issues, but no touch screen issues at all, and the second OPO I bought early this year is Nov 2014 batch, no touchscreen issues or yellow band problem, so I guess the problem has been solved in new batch production line.
I bought the one+1 the last november and I had this two bugs: low volume in/out (solved), yellow band. I also suspect that the display quality degrades over time, compare with the other phones I had. Anyway it's a 300 $ phone, well suppported by android development. My opinion, the value for money is still excellent.
I got my OPO second hand in November '14 and its been great. Don't have the yellow screen issue and dont have any touch issues. At the end of the day which phone hasn't suffered from a software/hardware problem at some stage or another. And I'm talking about the big flagships, you check their forums and you'll see people complaining about this and that. Not all users have problems, sometimes its just luck of the draw. I can understand peoples frustrations with trying to return the device and/or dealing with Oneplus customer services. Hopefully the latest firmware update that seems to have been merged in the latest nightly will fix issues for people with problems once and for all.
Honestly i think a properly firmware update could fix an little hardware problem.
Anyway i got my new 1+1 and i can't see any problem atm, no yellow band, lound volume, touch works great, i really hope for the best becouse for 299€ is soo worth!
I bought my OnePlus One in March 2015 and I unfortunately got the touchscreen bug. I have since been issued an RMA and I am waiting for them to receive my phone, and then I should be sent a replacement after that. I really hope I don't get the touchscreen issue again.

I'm pretty sure my touchscreen problems were triggered from a hot day too (quite rare in the UK). When I receive my new phone, ill make sure to keep it out of direct sunlight!
There is no touchscreen bug.
the infamous Pink line, appeared on my Z Fold 2 outer Screen, less than 2 years old, and it happened 2 to 3 weeks, after updating to One UI 5...
any other Z Fold 2 users have same unfortunate encounters ?
now, thinking if roll back the firmware will remove that pink line...
now it's a hardware issue , rolling back won't fix it , sorry !
From today onwards my Fold 2 also shows a pink vertical line on the outer screen. Will replacing the digitizer solve the issue? What will be the cost for this?I am in India.

I think that yes but tell to service and ask him for costs.
Admittedly it's not update problem but it's known from one year or more

Thanks for reply. I still stay with A11 and Ui 3.1.1 and consider update to A13 to maybe little fresher my phone but after you answer, few themes about green/pink ( even from 2022 year) lines after any update probably I stay with old android and enjoy good working phone.
Admittedly few months ago I remember that my girlfriend S20 after any update and few days her S20 screen got dead green screen. Unfortunetly warranty end half year after this case.
Maybe it's only case but after experience samsung's phone from S2 series (S20 girfriend) and users opinion about aware aging products with software help I have strong opinion about similar situation like even your.

Thanks for answer. I update my Fold 2 by OTA from A11 thru A12 to A13 and I can confirm for better smoot, especially in message app where a had lag 1-2 sek (A11) and now lag is a lot of smaller) A13. OS looking very similar to newer FOlds like F3 and F4.
After few days I am pleased, don't have any problems. Everything running good, no restarts or other issues
I got green vertical line after march 23 update. The only solution seems to be screen replacement. Service center quoted ₹11,150.
External vendor quoted ₹10250
