need assistance with unlock app for note 5 - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note5

Family sent me a Note 5 bought out in full from T mobile to me in Canada... but they forgot to unlock it before sending it. After I received it, my brother requested unlock and email was received that it should be good to unlock via the unlock app. Problem is, it's still not working.
Before the unlock request, I would get "unlock failed: ...". Now I get error message "failure in processing the request, please reboot device and try again", but still doesn't work after trying several reboots.
Can the tmobile unlock app be used and work when not on t-mobile service or does it have to be unlocked while using a tmobile sim card on service?
Also are there other methods to unlock the phone, I know you have to use the app now and there are methods with a root, but is there a method that doesn't require a root?
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks. Does that method work? I've read many of the online sites say they can but doesn't work... and if it does, is there any free solution that is similar to unlock it?

[Q] Droid ultra root.

Hello all please help me. I have looked thru all the treads and I have found nothing that will help me. I have tried all methods of rooting that are listed and have not yet found one that will help. with the exception of using adb shell. I have never had to use this to root. as stated in title I have a droid ultra. version 24.3.7 obake_verizon, 4.4.4, Kernel 3.4.42-g845377b-00002-ge8e2fe0, build number SU6-7. my phone can not be found by rsd. I have searched for hours thru many forums and I have found nothing that can get this thing to root. I do have my unlock code but not another sim to test it. If this has been asked before I do apologize after searching for so long I got lost on where I have and have not looked. if you know of where it is posted just reply with the link and ill try it. if I have to use adb then I will have to learn but with the help of other members I have always been able to have a rooted phone. So MANY thanks to all that have helped me in the past. Thank you in advance.
1. Unlock your phone
2. Install TWRP custom recovery
3. Reboot into recovery and tell it to install SU when it asks
That's it. It will require you using adb at least to unlock. After that you should be able to do the rest from the phone.

just curious, where did you get your unlock code?

ok, you have a sim unlock code. that should allow you to take the phone from one carrier to another (vzw -> att) that will not reflect on your ability to root your device. carrier (sim) unlock and root/ bootloader unlock are separate.
and with 4.4.4 on your droid, your stuck with me and the others with no root.
Teerout I wanted to add that I got the Sim unlock from there. I have not unlocked the boot loader. As of yet. Hope to accomplish in the am

If you paid for a sim unlock code, I'm afraid you wasted your money. The phone is already sim unlocked (all Verizon phones are).

[Q] T-Mobile's Z3 debranding for sim unlock.

Hi everyone. I bought a T-Mobile's Z3 used by another guy. He shipped it from the U.S but i'm not there. The thing is: He bought a SIM unlock code but T-Mobile won't let me introduce it because they only let you unlock the phone through their app. The question: If I debrand the phone by flashing the global/international firmware would it let me introduce the code? . I hope you can help me.
I don't think you can just cross flash, at least that is my experience with other devices as well. Also no way to bypass the SIM lock as there is no boot-loader unlock or r oot for the TMO Z3.
As far as I know its an over the air unlock and there is no option to even enter a code... when the app did not work for me I called TMO and they unlocked it within an hour, as I am a current customer.

Root and bootloader unlock have no effect on sim unlock. They are completely different things
It depends by phone/carrier implementation I guess, for my Sprint LG G2 you could bypass the simblock using a method that requires root. In the HTC M8, boot loader unlock with Super CID could achieve SIM unlock as well.
You probably are correct with Z3 though.
Im in the same boat, bought a used z3 and tried to unlock using device unlock app on phone, Failed. I bought an unlock code but there is no menu to input unlock code. If we flash global generic firmware, will unlock code pop up?

Has anyone tried this and been successful? I attempted it this morning but got errors and flash aborted.
Edit
Guys keep trying the unlock app. I almost gave up and tried it one more time after a factory reset. Went through the setup menus. No Sim card, WiFi through my old Xperia z, turned on my location. Opened the unlock app and applied for permanent unlock and BOOM.... Unlocked.
Don't know if any of what I did made a difference but try it if you want.
Best of luck to you all.

How bypass TMobile Unlock App & get Prompt to enter Network Unlock Code / IMEI unlock

How bypass TMobile Unlock App & get Prompt to enter Network Unlock Code / IMEI unlock
Can't seem get the phone to prompt for to Enter Network Unlock Code or IMEI unlock input anywhere after I put a different carrier sim or invalid sim. Is there anyway we can bypass the 3rd Party Tmo Unlock App or get the phone to bypass to enter the network unlock code? The phone is already Rooted running on various ROM such as Darthstalker, Resurrection and Dr, Ketan L2 and also Rooted Stock ROM, but noting seem to get the sim to prompt to enter network unlock. Try Build.Prop nothing there...so far. Try Deleting sys file, apk and other Efs nothing work.... Do I need to change or install a new Baseband/Radio/Modem?
Its built into the T-Mobile based roms if I'm not mistaken. If you flashed an international rom I would think it would go away and you could get the standard unlock prompt. Thats how others have done it in the past. They flashed MetroPCS roms and then unlocked and then flashed back. Make sure its safe to flash an international rom first (even if only temporary).
Has anyone been able to try this successfully?

Use "shortcut master lite" or paid version its up to you..from app store and launch the 7465625 codes press the ones that show perso <android_unlock_code it should bring up what u need..hope this helps someone. .?I have the core prime from metro..and it works to let me put in the code..only I don't have the code..☺I found out about this app when I had the S5..

It can't be avoided. You must unlock through the app. If you install a custom ROM, and are able to get an unlock prompt from the phone, the code you buy over the internet will not work. You are best to go through the unlocking tools which cost between 25-30 and will let you unlock it with the T-mobile app.
Dude here can unlock it for free. Search the forum. Title "Sim unlock - domestic and international"

You DON"T need an Unlock code for these new Samsung Tmobile phones.
If the phone has been paid off for over 30 days then you can use the free "Tmobile Device Unlock" app to unlock
it and if the phone is STOCK and no one deleted the unlock app it should be in the app drawer of the phone.
If the "Device Unlock" app is not in the app drawer then you can simply download it from the playstore.
To unlock it with the unlock app it only takes one click.
The Device Unlock app will NOT ask for any codes at all it only asks if you want temporary or permanent unlock.
Here is the direct playstore link for the Tmobile Device Unlock app in case you need it.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d....simlock&hl=en
Here is Tmobile's "Device Unlock" step by step instruction link in case you need it:
https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-14011
I unlocked my Tmobile S6 Edge+ and when I go into Settings>Mobile networks and click on
"Network operators" then click "Search Now" it displays Tmobile, AT&T and Verizon as options.
P.s. If the Unlock Device app does NOT unlock your phone it means that it's either not paid off or it has been stolen. (Blacklisted)
Good luck,
Have a great day!
Or, you can use a third party unlocking service like UnlockRadar.com. Here is a link: https://www.unlockradar.com/service/t-mobile-usa-device-unlock-app-official-unlock

i try many times to contact you but never answer..
dont promisse something you wont do it...
Here's my question on this topic. I have flash numerous rims on my TMO note5 and the device unlock app just says it is incompatible and stops there. I know when I put completely stock note5 that I have used the unlock app and it successfully unlocked the phone. After I flashed the rims, the app does not work but I also loose unlock. Anyone else have this issue or know what to do to get unlock back with a custom rom?

Hey. I am sorry i cannot drop everything I am doing to perform a FREE service for you. gtfoh with that entitlement garbage. I do this for people when i'm at my computer when they write me. I go to school full time and hold a full time job. PAY SOMEONE to unlock your phone if you need immediate service. ffs you're the type of person that ruins free services for everyone.

Sadly this is true! The people who think they are entitled to everything and anything are ruining a lot of stuff for everyone else! A lot of devs just gave up and left because of people like this and crybabies who don't read first before doing something to their phone and then suddenly their incompetence is somehow the devs fault!? People need to grow up already.. Seriously!

[Q] Purchased Online (Unlock Failed):

I purchased a Galaxy S7 online, came with a T-Mobile receipt showing the device is paid in full, upon my request the original owner used the unlock app to request a permanent unlock before shipping and it was successfully unlocked. I received the device about 3 days ago everything works as it should, I opened the unlock app just to double check and requested a permanent unlock again and got this message (Unlock Failed: This mobile wireless device is not eligible for unlock etc...) I know the device is unlocked I tried an inactive AT&T sim and did not request a code. Anyone can tell me why the unlock app does not recognize that the device is unlocked, thanks in advance.
You might have to call t-mobile or log in to your t-mobile account and see the unlock status or your device..how do u know the original owner was able to successfully unlock the phone? It's it works with another carrier sim then the phone sld be unlocked and it sldnt be an issue..maybe it's giving up the error msg since it's already unlocked
Sent from my SM-G930F using XDA-Developers mobile app
99% certain that if the device is unlocked, the device is simply unlocked and that's that. If the SIM works you're good to go and any further attempts fail.
Finally T-Mobile website updated the status of the device as unlocked and can be used with any GSM network, but the unlock app still fails to show that, every time I try I get the same message (Unlock Failed) anyone out there has a fix for this error?
Not sure I understand your question.... the phone is already unlocked so the unlock app will give u an error message....cause it's already unlocked...Good luck man...
Sent from my SM-G930F using XDA-Developers mobile app
I have my Samsung Galaxy S7 Unlocked by app. If I try the unlock app process again I'll get the (unlock failed) that means nothing. Put a active simple of another GM Carrier, if it works you are all set. It won't ask to give any code, it will just recognize the other Carrier. Hope this helps.

J700T unlock question

Have any of you successfully unlocked your phone using the T-Mobile Device Unlock app and permanently unlocking the phone? I was unsuccessful. I called T-Mobile and their representative put in a request to unlock my phone, but I got a response saying that my phone can only be unlocked using the Device Unlock app which won't unlock my phone. My phone is fully paid so I don't know why it's not letting me. Anyone have any advice?

Thank you for replying. No, I haven't. I fully paid for my phone, I expected T-Mobile to just unlock it without any issues.
