Anyone figure out how to enable. I went through all of the mobile network settings and enabled 4G and VoLTE calling, still nothing. [emoji20]

It's not gonna work with T-Mobile unless the phone actually comes to T-Mobile in the future.

I was afraid of that. Might have to send this bad boy back. I need to use wifi calling everyday.

You cannot use wifi calling with a Tmobile phone without rooting it. Tmobile is the devil incarnate. One of their updates bricked my samsung6 in only 4 hours.

How to force LTE to turn on?

I've already selected LTE as the network mode under mobile network settings, but as I type this I'm on 3G. I know I get 4G in this area, but it's not exactly the best. My goal is to stay connected to LTE even when the signal is worse than 3G. I did this on my Galaxy S3 by toggling the LTE setting that CyanogenMod 10.2 allows you to do from the quick settings panel, but the stock Nexus 5 ROM doesn't have that option.
How can I force my Nexus 5 to stay connected to LTE even when the signal is worse than 3G?

It should prefer LTE all the time. Make sure your APN is correct for LTE on your carrier.

In you dialer, enter *#*#4636#*#*, after that you should see a menu popup, select phone information...scroll down and you should see a drop down menu, change from the default GSM/LTE to LTE only

I could be wrong, but I think doing that will not allow you to get calls or texts, because those run off gsm.

DROID MAXX working perfectly on T-Mobile

My XT1080m is not the Developer Edition, and unrooted, but went to T-Mobile, swapped out my sim for a T-Mobile sim and everything is working perfectly.
Just switch preferred network to LTE/GSM/UMTS and data, phone calls, and texts work just fine
4GLTE the internet is great but i couldn't send texts
EDIT: T-Mobile network much more stable with this app...

You won't be able to make phone calls or send sms while attached to the lte network on 4.4. It's a known bug.

That doesn't sound like "working perfectly" on TMo.

Finally decided to use that app and I got better speeds, not bad for Mexican carriers

AH ok, according to GSMarena, the Maxx lacks 850/1900mhz bands that the moto x has.
Thinking about getting the Maxx.. I am on T mobile...Do I need the DEV version ? If not does the VZ version need to be unlocked and rooted to work? Figure since this is last of the real Moto I would really like one to hang on to...TIA

No need to unlock or root anything. Keep in mind that you need to be on a particular version of 4.2.2 (mentioned earlier in this thread I believe) in order to get LTE speeds. If you update to 4.4 you will have issues with calling and texting unless you disable LTE and stick with HSPA+

No data during calls?

Searched around on here but saw no results. Just noticed that during calls, data doesn't work. Is there a fix?

Data only is available during calls if you're on LTE and not doing VoLTE. Can you confirm what your connection is like?
I have LTE most everywhere but it does drop to 3G occasionally at my house so that could very well be the reason.

Yeah,,,the M8 is SVLTE, not SVDO (like the old Thunderbolt that could do voice/data on 3G) nor is it VOLTE.
You need to be in an area that your phone is receiving both a 4GLTE and 3G signals as it will use the 3G signal for voice and uses the LTE for data. Our phone never utilizes LTE for voice (I presume it uses 1X when there is no 3G signal available for voice...but that's rare as Verizon's existing 3G footprint is huge).

At your house, though, it should have data access over wifi. Unless, of course, you have wifi turned off.
I believe Wi-Fi was indeed off in this particular case. Thanks for all the help though!

Simple. U see 4g network in nav bar u can talk and surf internet. U don't, u can't UNLESS connected to WiFi. Easy.

Wifi calling

I do believe that Verizon is using Advance Calling as a way to use WiFi for calls as long as your phone supports Advance calling. Of course it still has to be enabled and it still uses minutes if you don't have unlimited talk time.

It is when you're not on WiFi. If I remember correctly Verizon has the calls going over WiFi when connected even if you're in LTE coverage.

If that's correct, I should be able to make calls over WiFi if I have super spotty 3G coverage? I'm out in BFE Kansas and despite being on WiFi and having advanced calling enabled, I can barely get a call through. I was pretty sure Verizon doesn't use WiFi at all for calling.
Yeah I don't think volte uses wifi. I wish they'd add it so we could make calls when we're outside the us

Getting lte on att and tmobile...

Isn't it simply a custom rom mod/radio mod issue? The hardware itself is essentially the same phone except the sprint version has some extra aws bands so we have to just wait until the rommers enable lte for the band's or its simply to flash a radio mod once a developer look into it? Or is it simply not do'able on this phone? Please let me know so I can go ahead and sell the phone now. It's useless to me if that is so.
Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk
Same here.
I hope someone can find a way to fully flash it with another stock rom.

Does anyone have volte enabled? It keeps switching to hspa the only solution is to use Google voice and hangouts.
The other problem is the lte reception is very weak. Usually where it's full bars on another phone in the same place, this set up has 1 or 2 bars only.

Just wondering how you got this to work. My note 5 is unlocked by sprint , but when I put in a at&t sim it says its invalid. When I got it unlocked, they gave me a msl code and said that it was a domestic and international unlock. I can't even find the APN settings. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
