Hello!
So I finally grabbed my A9 and I must say it's 5x faster in terms of UI speed!
Touch screen is also a breeze as the G4 touch reactions were slow, so I am very happy to be back to HTC.
Now some questions related to the A9 as it's slightly different than M9:
-Why is it asking to decrypt the SD card at every boot?
-Double tap to sleep and wake is not working though enabled
-How can I change the navigation panel buttons like adding one or changing the long press to menu option? (it was on M9)

1. That's MM for you. It is encrypted at startup and needs to be decrypted on every boot.
2. Double tap to wake works on detecting motion gestures, double tap to sleep works only on the lock screen, just like M8/M9 prior to this device.
3. You can only hide one extra hide button to remove the navigation panel. We don't get an array of options here. You'll find it under Settings - Personalise - Navigation Bar

Finally got it with an update.
Ok now how to edit the shortcuts of the quick settings? I don't need hotspot and rotate ones but NFC and Volume.
BTW why is there no NFC setting apart for NFC payment? I have a pair of BT NFC earphones and I want to easily NFC pair them.
This MM is the worst android ever

You can not edit the quick settings. It's based on stock this time around.
This isn't Sense, it's closer to stock, hence has _g in the Sense version, and has certain limitations, the above being one of them.
And the NFC on this phone has been limited to only payments as far as I know, because probably HTC think people use it only for that.

We really need custom Roms then to ''Re-Sense'' this HTC phone, I added an extra quick settings panel to put mine and I will see if I can enable NFC for devices, the thing is that the M10 is said to be also _g , I just hope they will keep updating the Music and Car apps, I took them from the M9 and flashed them in the A9

I have flashed the Music app too, I don't use the car app. I love the HTC music app. Hope they push it to play store soon, making it easier for us.
Yes, this phone could use custom roms, but I use stock so it doesn't matter to me. I don't see many developers here though, the device isn't getting proper attention, even though it's better than Nexus 5x in almost all regards according to me.

Yes I am positively surprised by this A9, much more than the M9, shoot me but I liked it more than the G4 I had, it's so damn smooth and touch responsiveness is unbelievable!!

Hi,
I just wanted to ask if there's a possibility to implement "softkey swipe 2 wake/unlock" (similar to the HTC desire trackpad to wake/unlock)
thx
This would be so nice. Currently my routine is: press power button to wake, swipe screen, then enter pattern to unlock. Seems ridiculous.

Same here, it's so annoying. I quite like the face unlock, especially in the car,uch easier, but what's the point if I have to move that ring before I unlock?
Someone must know how to remove it, and just use the pattern unlock or the face unlock?
I know on CM9 you can disable the lockscreen completely (power goes straight to homescreen or open app) but cm9 on this phone isnt quite usable as an end user yet, but maybe devs might be able to put this into one of the sense roms, although im guessing this would be the least of their worries.
I think the softkey swipe to unlock would look sexy as hell though

Would be a great idea but probably uses too much battery life to keep monitoring the screen for input.
Yea I loved the Swipe2Wake function on the Sensation. It did hit the battery life pretty hard though.
Functionality wise it was amazing though especially when driving.
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using XDA
Once we get source release this will hopefully be possible.
Just arrived on One X and used it myself for a bit. Battery wasn't hit too hard but the battery was awful anyway
Thats a great feature, hope comes for One S
It would be very useful to remove the lockscreen, the only flaw is the battery
Well, what if we would make it work only when the screen is turned on, so after you've pressed the power button. then it wouldn't drain that much of the battery and it would still look cool
I have a related question for which I have needed the answer for about 2 years...
How do you lock your desktop? As in causing the ring lock screen to come up by choice... I have always just found this lock screen up after x minutes...but I don't know how to turn it on when I want.
I am sure there is a way, but I have not found it. Anyone?
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda premium
I don't have the names handy, but have used screen lock apps from the market. You should be able to find a solution there. For those that find it a pain to hit the power button.. (me)

If you turn off HTC Gestures, you will get 10 point touch.

Forget the noob questions:
1) What would be gained from 10 point touch (i.e. benefits)?
2) What does HTC gestures actually do for us?
1. Some apps require more points. i.e. a guitar app forming a chord.
2. htc gestures is only for the 3 finger swipe up for "Media Link HD" which is for wireless screen mirroring.

Nice one (I was wondering wth htc gestures were). When I first saw it I was hoping it meant for things like lockscreen gestures, etc.
We really need a sticky for tips, etc for things like this. I know we have limitations without root but I bet there are still quite a few little tips/tweaks that would be helpful.
Nice tip. I was wondering why some gaming was failing. Downloaded xmen from amazon app store yesterday and the joystick kept screwing up while i pressed the other keys.
I was having a problem where my phone would go to Media Link while I was on calls (guess my face was rubbing it and kicking off the gesture). Turned the gesture thing off and no longer have that problem.
**** yeah!
Quick question: I'm trying to play shadow gun but every time I let go of a second touch it stops holding the first touch. Is there any way to fix this? It makes the higher end FPS games unplayable.

Download a custom kernel that support it and install trickster on Google play to control it.
And there's a app call battery widget reborn that will show your a battery percent on the top left. This phone hasn't even been release a week yet.
Lol but no touch wiz did not spoiled you the nexus 5 support will suck you in if you like customizing your android.

the intensity is adjustable...at least for the haptic feedback when typing
I have a mushy annoying vibration when typing...especially when typing fast.
I did RMA my Phone and the new phone is allready on the way to me (still have the old one)
After i did RMA i found out that the haptic feedback is adjustable....i put it on 1ms for typing....now it is less annoying and feels kinda normal....but not as crisp as it should imho.
I will receive the new one tomorrow and will compare them......who knows how the new phone will be (dust, dead pixels).....if there is anything like that i´ll keep the old one....if i am allowed to...i heard google forces you to keep the new device....anybody knows that for sure?

Yes it is thanks to custom kernels like Franco or Faux.
vibration config on the playstore will sort you out!
It´s adjustable without custom kernel or any app...
just go to settings -->Language & Input
there you will find Google Keyboard and at the right of it there is a symbol (haven´t seen it for the first few days)
Push it and you will find an extra poined called "advanced settings"
There you can change the vibration feedback for typing

I don't think so, I did it before and I couldn't find anything, just root it. it's really easy.
by the way that APP works great.
Hi guys, is there any way I can increase vibration strength permanently by editing a file instead of using a root app? I tried doing what Vibration Config does by going into /sys/devices/virtual/timed_output/vibrator/amp and changing the value from 60 to 95, which works, but on a reboot it keeps changing back. Any idea how to keep it permanent? Thanks

It changes back because the kernel sets everything back to default, which is why kernel apps have a "set on boot" option. It also requires root access to be able to modify such values.
You can:
- compile a kernel yourself and change the default
- use a kernel app to set on boot
- use tasker to change the value on boot
- change it manually every time
An init.d file can do the job also.

Fortunately there are many 3rd party options from the Play Store such as:
DynamicNotifications
AcDisplay
Active Display
Keep in mind only OLED panels can disable individual pixels. Other LCDs require the full screen to be on or off at all times so these could cause considerable battery drain.

Looks like PA (moreso, ROMs based off it, or ones that cherry-picked built-in Peek) need to update the code that disables built-in Peek when the app is installed, to reflect the new package name (rather than the unlocker). lol

None. ActiveDisplay is a proprietary Motorola software. Google very rarely have added alternatives to complex proprietary functions. It's not completely unheard of (quick tiles for example) but for something that has a hardware limitation and dependency, no way

Even if they did (which they won't because that's owned by Motorola) it would be restricted to OLED screens only. Only OLED screen phones have ever had such functionality built in, such as the Moto X and certain Nokia Windows Phones with Glance support.
What's wrong with using one of the many 3rd party options?
I used DynamicNotifications on my Nexus 5 over 6 months ago. It was buggy and quirky.
My phone would get hot in my pocket and I pulled it out to see whats going on. DynamicNotifications was turning my screen on and off repeatedly for some reason. I don't know how Motorola handles the phone lock but DynamicNotifications' way of locking the phone isn't secure. If I disable the system's security lock and enable DN's, it could be bypassed by turning off the phone and turning back it. It isn't as bullet proof as the system's.

Debating between this phone and the mi mix 2s. By all counts the OP will have better development, and the headphone jack is a plus. The mix really has style and wireless charging. But unconfirmed reports that Android pay didn't work. Does Android pay work on a stock OP? Is it seen as certified on the Google store (can I play Netflix?). I don't plan on rooting or installing an after market ROM until later in life (if OP stops supporting it). Also how does OP handle the warranty in the US? Basically there isn't one on the mi mix 2s which is a big minus.
I'm coming from a LG V20 so I debate whether or not to upgrade at all considering it has almost everything lol

Q: Does Android pay work on a stock OP?
A: Yes! Google pay works with the Oneplus 6
Q: Is it seen as certified on the Google store?
A: Sort answer, yes. I didn't have any problems with the Google play store on my device.
Q: Can I play Netflix?
A: yes, Netflix works fine on my device.
Q: How does OP handle the warranty in the US?
A: I'm not sure, I haven't looked into this yet. I'll keep you up to date if I know more information about your question. But I'm pretty sure the warranty is alright.
Some extra information:
- Don't let the 1080p screen hold you back. The screen is gorgeous and you won't see the pixels.
- Screen on time is about 4 and a half hours with average usage.
- Dash charge does what it's promised to do.

Hi! I'm planning on making the OP6 my first OnePlus Device.
I also plan on getting the 6T later as well. I know that seems pointless. But I like have 2 major devices from a company for a years run..
Anyway, I know the phone is brand new and we have to see how things go, but, do you think there will be ROM support for this device? Given that it had the dual partition system (A&B style) would it be worthwhile to get the OP6 for ROMs right now?
My only want is to Root & ROM the phone. I have a LG G6 & V30, both from T-Mobile and have no dev supoort or ROMs. I like them both but I miss LineageOS and that's actually why I'm buying the OP6.
In your opinion, should I expect to see ROMs like LineageOS for OP6 or should I just wait and get the 6t.
I'm just trying to justify it to myself, especially now that the Nylon bumper case is sold out and that's the one I wanted. Ha, minor detail holding me back. Obviously I'll snag a Karbon Bumper hopefully..

Wow is that the reason they say they removed fp gestures? This didn't make sense because it's the same size as the fp sensor on the s8 and so she fp features work on those devices. So I wonder if this new sensor just doesn't support gestures or if it can be added back in from a custom rom?

1. Works.
2. Always on display has been removed because it consumed to much power. It has been replaced with ambient display.

First of all I must excuse me. Because I live in the Netherlands, my phone's language is set to Dutch.
First go to you security settings, then press the little settings circle. Now you should see some sort of a timer. Change this timer value to something more then 0 sec (instant lock). Ow and toggle the instant lock slider for when you press the power button
