cphoneunlocker . com popped up on a search as I was looking to unlock my S5
It's pretty new and I can't really find any info anywhere about it.
It *claims* "The only free Android Phone Unlocker on the web. We support phone freedom which is why our unlocking service will always be free. Enjoy it!"
I figured other people might be looking around for some info as well, so if you tried it or if you think that it's safe/legit, post here about it.
My guess is that it's probably B.S. (things that are too good to be true and all...)

wanted to know the very same thing but it seems like not alot is known about it
It's a scam. You have to complete "offers to prove you're not a robot" At which point they ask for all of your personal information and demand you complete other offers. Even after completing every possible "free" offer in the never ending trail of offers, the bottom of the cphoneunlocker.com web page will sit on a notification that reads "Go back and try a different offer." and below that "Waiting for offer completion.."
This site is completly scam.
They only want to earn money. You can see this at the following points:

Sorry for the late response.
I paid to unlock it with mobileincanada.com
I think it was $25 which is cheaper than my phone company who wanted $75
I've used that website for 4-5 different phones and they are good and relatively fast. I even had a problem once and they immediately refunded me so I can vouch for them.
I haven't found a free way to unlock the s5, but I stopped looking after paying.

So, about 3 months ago, I got scammed out of my T-mobile Galaxy Note 2 by someone on TomsHardware.com. I thought it was a lost cause, and he was supposed to send me a Galaxy S4 (no comments on the trade please). What he sent me instead was a LG G2X with a cracked screen and was password protected. So, now, after a hard reset, I got access to the phone. Guess what? The pictures are still intact, and there is plenty of pictures of a person, and a name. I looked on facebook, and lo and behold, found the guy.
My question is this: Should I give this information to the police? I filed the report months ago, but if this is the guy, maybe there is a minuscule chance I could get my phone back. Or should I just leave it alone, its too long ago?

If you already made a report, its best you follow through with the evidence as that is how you can achieve what you want. Police work on evidence, lack of it, they sleep. :fingers-crossed:

If you are using XDA App or Tapatalk, long press on the post and select :good: Thanks
Its easier to give "Feedback" in this manner than make an additional post.
Block your imei so he can't use the phone, eye for an eye
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk now Free
Owch
That sucks...
I have been doing some thinking about this today actually. after reading a similar post like yours I got remote terminal to send a text to execute something like dd random data to drive in r/w. and maybe even corrupt the boot loader before that hehehe
But after nuking it I would block the IMIE too to render it useless. I bet he will just sell it some poor guy even if cant make calls though. Absolutely tell the popo maybe the pictures are of another guy who lost his phone
good luck
HI all,
I am planning on buying a new phone soon - either OnePlus 8 Pro/8TPro or Samsung S20/Note 20 (when the latter are released)
Could any OP8 holders please confirm if this was indeed accurate?
If it's accurate, is there a way to avoid this?
Or we stuck on the stock firmware with the 'potential' data being sent off to home?

Hi,
This is a sensitive topic since it can become a little to political, but to keep it simple, OnePlus has never been caught doing something sketchy like that, not like Xiaomi or Huawei and other Chinese brands. But there's always this little doubt because Chinese GOV (not people, please make the difference) isn't transparent at all with its policy and relationship with phone manufacturers. So if this is really an issue because you work in a sensitive place in your country (research, administration, ...) then go for Samsung, because "we never know what could happen". But if you don't have anything sensitive to hide, trust me, Chinese secret services won't give a damn about your data lol.
We're not stuck at all on stock firmware, there are a lot of ROMs that are really good, and can be used instead of stock. I don't know if flashing a ROM deletes the issue tho, because what's a problem with spying is that you don't know where the leak come from, and if OnePlus where indeed spying us, they would've a solution that works even with ROMs since OnePlus let us easily and freely flash anything on our phones.
I'll end by saying that it's really a shame, because OnePlus phones are really good, and those trust issues can sometimes completely ruin the experience...
Also, your question is 100% legit, 20 years ago I'd say your paranoid, but now, with all the political background, you do better asking.
We're living difficult time for privacy since internet is so anchored in our lives...
If anyone want to post in this thread, please stick to the rules by not going full political. Just answer the question asked and put the least amount of political views in the answer. I tried to be as neutral as possible, do so please
Edit #1:
Didn't read the full pic, sorry :silly:

Anybody heard of this new phone to be released in August? Just asking because I would like more details on it. Such as hardware details, OS details etc. And the possibility that the bootloader is unlocked and maybe someone is already working on root method?

AFAIK the phones offered by Freedom Phones are Pixel 4 and Pixel 4XL running GrapheneOS.

Thank you for the information but I think we may be talking about 2 different organizations. The link you provided is .net and the one I posted is .com. Not only that but the freedom phone from your post has graphene OS while the one from my link uses freedom OS.

I saw that on the NTD channel on YouTube (it's a conservative news channel that YT would never recommend)
https://www.youtube.com/c/ntdtv/videos
They were saying that the Freedom Phone is a plan by a guy who become a millionaire by his age of 18, because he invested in Bitcoin. So, a prejudice warning right there.
Next, they said that his main concern was that it is hard to source the hardware (really?), because the big names in cell phone business do dominate the industry, while none of them interested in privacy. (True).
So, he had figured out how to get the hardware and his new freedom phone is flying off the shelves, because it is a revolutionary new concept where the phone has his own store and doesn't allow the network location scanning and so on, so basically it is a de-googled phone.

Conservatives are touting this phone to be patriotic, etc... but there are articles claiming its a cheap chinese knockoff with huge security issues, likely built in to the phone at the request of the NSA for snooping purposes.
Purchased a sm-s908u 1tb model from Facebook marketplace earlier and on getting it home noticed it was very sluggish
Factory reset and hardware reset and noticed that non of the Samsung one ui settings were available in settings.
Then realised that there was no one ui elements at all! Seems to be badly running a vanilla android!
What are my options?
My first thought was to download firmware from samknows and hope that it fixes this very odd issue!
The phones still under warranty so I could always go down that route.

Scammer know how to do that. It’s all stolen, or faked. You have been scammed. Unless you can return it, your money is gone. if you try to use the warrant, you will be told the same thing.
another way I know it’s fake is a lot of these screens are clearly fake, not something Samsung would create, very ugly too. Look at the updator. Obviously fake. The toast in the second update picture has a grammer mistake too. And so does everyhtig in the updator. Read it again. And Google the real Samsung update screen. And real Samsung start up screen.
Can you get into recovery? What does it look like? If it really is legitimate, you might be able to load an official firmware, but who knows. What provider are you using? Are you using an e-sim? Says you are using slot 2.
The screen on a real S22U will be edge to edge, so I am afraid the others may be right.
100% fake.
Sorry mate
Don't order things like that from Facebook marketplace bro, that looks so fake
The welcome screen looks like Note 4 or 5. I'm sorry this happened. I don't know why people buy cell phones off Market
"The current version is the latest, not found the new version!" is the kind of broken English you would find in a fake phone.
And the SM-S908U only has one physical SIM, the other is eSIM.
Facebook is not your friend. Bad people reside there.
hello friend odin recognizes your cell phone if it is not false
Dial these two codes and see what happens
