Don't use fastboot for upgrading ROMs!!!
Just use the recovery method to upgrade your phone to a newer version. Fastboot methods are only for dirty flashing the ROM you are currently on.

I have written such guides for my Huawei Honor 4C. However, because the board is same (Kirin SoC), those guides will work flawlessly for you. See Upgrading from Kitkat to Lollipop section in this XDA Thread. Before you follow, make sure to download the correct EMUI 3.1 firmware for your device.

Probleme to flash rom ON FRD-L09

Hello, i have abig problem ... i tried to install LineageOS14, after the look i wanted to go back to stock, but download the firmware from hihonor for my device, and tried to do manual install with update.app:
flashboot recovery recovery.img
and tried to install stock firmware with :
flashboot cust cust.img

But, there is a but everytime ... Now my network is super slow, wifi is OK, but 3G/4G and SMS don't even work, i have signal, IMEI is fine, but can't send, receive and use 3G.

Seriously?
Is that official? - No
So what about giving the complete information or don't give it at all?
That 5.01 stock ROM is available through Firmware Finder, not yet approved for public release. Those two underlined words makes all the difference.
So EMUI 5.0 is the latest stock.

Most likely you can somehow still get your device working.
Have you tried to download UPDATE.APP of the firmware you have/had. You could use huawei update extractor to get system, boot, cust, and recovery images from it and then flash them in fastboot.

I think it's best to test first with same firmware, because I think it has better chance to work and if it works you can install TWRP --> take back up and then safely try to update.

Nougat on FRD-C900?

Background: I got my Honor 8 today, model # FRD-L04 (important later), updated to EMUI 5.1 and Nougat via Updater on phone, and decided I wasn't satisfied with EMUI. So I rooted and that went smoothly, but when I tried to flash a custom ROM, I bricked pretty hard. Long story short, tried flashing multiple ROMs until I found one that worked. The ROM I'm on right now has EMUI 5.1 and build number FRD-C900B131, which is completely different from my original build (FRD-L04). Looked it up and turns out it's a variant of the H8. Unfortunately, I tried to update via Updater and there were no updates available, so I'm stuck with EMUI 4.1 and MM for now (not complaining, since at least it works again). I also tried flashing the rollback ROM for the L04, but I got an incompatibility error when I tried dload method. So now, question is how do I get back to my original stock FRD-L04 ROM, or how do I update to Nougat on this model version (C900B131)?
Thanks for the quick reply. Could you guide me through how I would approach this? I'm not sure which TWRP to use for my (incorrect) build. Do you think using the TWRP for my correct build (L04) should be okay? I'm on EMUI 4.1 also, I think the EMUI version matters too when choosing which TWRP to flash.

Awesome, thank you. I've installed it and it seems to be working fine with no issues. So I found the rollback package for my model (L04), so I should just install this through TWRP? And then install the Honor 8 upgrade firmware? Does that sound right?

ok, there is a more recent EMUI stock firmware (B520):
Honor6X-BLN-L22HNC675CUSTC675D2B520 (8.0.0.520) - Shared with pCloud
Keep all your files safe, access them on any device you own and share with just the right people. Create a free pCloud account!
e.pcloud.link
you can use https://www.dropbox.com/s/via9iigwa5q37rf/HWOTA_BLN_Eng.zip
to install it. Some infos about that here.
You should be able to use dload official update, and somehow "Huawei updater" software or "Huawei Firmware Finder" soft or app, also to instal it.
BUT ANYWAY, you should have stock recovery already with the build you install to get EMUI 8 !!! Did you check? That would be the case, after installing the above B520.
If not, look inside those B520 zip files (using "Huawei update extractor" software for update.app if I remember well, google "Huawei update extractor" for all infos), you will get recovery .img files. Flashable with Fastboot or twrp recovery.
But I thnik you are already on stock recovery, or will be after B520 update

Hello, I am having trouble using the DC-Unlocker software. I am trying to follow this tutorial from their official website to unlock the bootloader of my Huawei Mate 9 Lite (BLL-L23) but HiSuite does not seem to work. It shows a pop-up saying "HiSuite will be installed in your device" and then another saying "Instalation error. System version is too old". And then nothing happens, and HiSuite doesn't even recognize my phone.
I have Android 6.0 Marshmallow and I'm trying to upgrade to Android 7.0 Nougat. Also, I have EMUI 4.1.3, and if I'm not mistaken, I should be able to upgrade it to EMUI 5.0.
EDIT: HiSuite seems to have installed the drivers 'Android Adapter PCUI' and 'DBAdapter Reserved Interface' despite the error, but not the 'Android Adapter Modem #2' one, and I don't know how to install it. I'd like to know I have everything needed to proceed successfully before paying the 4.00 €.

Try also to install diectly the huwei drivers without hisuite:

Thank you for replying.
My PC runs on Windows 10, so I don't think that is a problem. I could try a Virtual Machine with another one though, which one do you recommend?
As for the instalation, do I have to uninstall my current drivers in order to install the ones you are providing me? Or does it not matter? I will try them ASAP.
P.S.: I found this thread in the DC-Unlocker forums of someone saying not all phones have the 'Android Adapter Modem #2' drivers and it should be possible to read the bootloader code of a Honor 6X without it (I am assuming that Mate 9 Lite == Honor 6X at this point). Should I trust this?
I apologize for the amount of questions, you just seem like an experienced person, and I thank you again for taking the time and having the patience of answering.
