[Hardware Help] resoldering or change of the main cable ribbon socket - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I tried to repair a display-crashed NEXUS 5 changing the lcd+digitizer. The operation went fine, after a short time, the display began to fade to black and failed completely.
After some troubleshooting, i add a thick piece of paper over the flat cable ribbon of the main connector of the MoBo and the phone resurrected, wow!
It was the faulty socket indicated in the image.

I tried also to resolder the pins with a small point solder but without success.
Can anybody tell me what is the best way to resolder those pins and/or where i can find the spare part?
Thank you so much

Found on LG-D820_SVC_ENG_131113.pdf service manual the CN8001 Connector ENBY0057001 51338-6473 64P 0.40MM STRAIGHT FEMALE SMD R/TP 1.5M HANKOOK MOLEX. Now I have to wait the shipment and try to solder it.

Hello, did you manage to solder it ? I am having the same issue. As anyone done something similar. Would you recommend a heatgun or a tiny soldertip in a solder iron ? Thank you.

May I ask where you guys are purchasing the replacement piece from? Everywhere I look online it's either out of stock or costs more than the replacement main board itself!

Makes my phone reboot a few times every freaking day.
I can peel the connector out with a needle. Just mailed HTC asking if it's a warranty-issue.

I'm stressed as hell, so sorry for the bad writing.

I'm sorry this happened. I do hope they stand behind this with warentee. Please
Keep us posted on the issue.in the mean time you can wedge a small piece of paper under the battery and this will stabilize it some and hopefully cut down on the amount of reboots your getting. It's worth a try. I know it's a proven fix for a "loose" battery. It just might stabilize the contact for you. I really hope it helps! At least until you can get a repair . Give it a shot. Best wishes .

I tried that, just pushes the pin further in, and the reboots keeps on coming.. I'll keep you posted!
Thanks
tweezers, and pull it out slowly....or go to repair shop they will change it with new one.
HTC replied that it's NOT a warranty issue. I have to pay for the service my self.
I'm going to email them again and tell them that it's not acceptable. If you buy a new car and the engine breaks after less then one year, are you going to pay for that? No. I'm not done with this.

Did you get anything solved with HTC? I have the same problem but I have all 4 pins completely down so I can't even put a piece of a paper on the top right corner of the battery. It just doesn't work at all. If you fixed it could you please tell me how? Or did you have it fixed? Thank you

i there are differnt cables ... for example the c-cable from my 2nd memopad is much larger
I don't know if you can repair it, but i'm sure you can buy another one. A brand new one it's about 3-4 euros, and i think they are all the same, i mean u don't need one that is specifically for xperia j, you can get one that is for a samsung or whatever. Good luck!
Wait... a cable that thick... how'd it even fit in the phone? I mean, my E is only a bit thicker as that cable is, battery included.

Can anyone confirm this actually works? Your saying to heat up the motherboard with a hair dryer and it fixes the phone? Is this a joke [emoji23]?

Technically it could work. Search "BGA Reballing" in Google. People has been baking desktop GPUs, laptop motherboards and mobile phone motherboards to re-ball the lead soldering balls that make contact between the mobo and chip. But I'm quite skeptical about hair-dryer. The heat might not be enough. Industrial heat-guns surely work.
It tries to do the same thing as the oven technique (which I tested and it works temporarily, for a couple of weeks, long enough to backup what you need) but it isn't as effective since the conventional home hair drier can't heat up the MB that high.

Wireless Charging mod?

So apparently this can bee done on an iPhone. So does anyone know how to do it to K30 pro?

Anyone?
Not a chance. The iPhone is so much popular. No one will bother to do this

My apologies, will have to move that.
I had connected it and tested, worked.

Will have to order a new one and redo...

I have no idea what the last photo says since I only understand english.
There are a few reasons why it might not light up. One could be that the setting on the phone for the back screen is turned off and needs to be turned on in the armour crate app. Another reason could be that there is a bent pin on the main phone portion of the phone or that the phone isn't providing all the power or signals to the back screen due to some power supply issue on the main phone.

So you are using a normal ROG 5 phone but decided to install the 5 pro back plate to it? I am not 100% sure but wouldn't that mean that the ROG 5 main phone and ROG 5 Pro back plate connection wouldn't work at all? The ROG 5 back plate only affects RGB signals while the ROG 5 pro controls a screen?

If you do manage to weld it, can you tell us if it works or doesn't work? This goes above my level of understanding. Only a manufacturer or a phone parts hobbyist will be able to help you with this question.

[Translation: I tried to weld him up, but I couldn't light it. There may be some firmware differences.]
Thank you for the update. I wonder what differences there are but I guess that it explains the larger bump in price from the 5s and the 5s Pro. That is unfortunate that it didn't work.
