Unlock unavailable bands on your smartphone, is it possibile? - XDA Assist

Hello I'm reading around to check if it's possible to unlock unsupported officially bands on my smart-phone
(ex. I have a Cubot X9 that supports just the 3G W-CDMA 850Mhz and W-CDMA 2100Mhz and I need the 900Mhz W-CDMA band in my country)
The question is.
Is it really possible to unlock other band on the cellphone or it's an hardware limit? Is there somebody that technically could explain more about my question ?
Thanks for reading

If at&t moves 3G to 850MHz in NY, NJ...

as stated here, then does that mean that a SIM-unlocked CDMA Touch Pro2 could use at&t 3G being that it supports GSM 850/900/1800/1900?
Also, what are the differnt GSM frequencies, and how are they differentiated (GSM, UMTS, HSDPA, etc.)? (ex: at&t 3G - 850MHz)
I thought the Sprint TP2 only handled GSM on the Euro bands, unlocked? Basically the GSM portion is unlocked already but only on the Euro bands.
Why not just wait for the AT&T version?

Okay, so the Verizon announcement document for the Touch Pro2 states "GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 MHz WCDMA/HSPA 2100 MHz". And, I'd imagine the Sprint version to use the same.

As a CDMA user, I'm not familiar with the various frequencies on GSM networks. Can someone provide some clarity of the following bands?...
US T-Mobile 2G/3G...
US at&t 2G/3G...
Europe/Asia 2G/3G...
i remember reading somewhere on this forum that the radio is software AND hardware locked so you can't use GSM in the US, only for international.
at&t 2g: 850/1900 Mhz depending on region (i think...)
at&t 3g: 850/1900 Mhz
tmobile 2g: 1900 Mhz
tmobile 3g: 1700/2100 Mhz (only 1700 is currently implemented, HSDPA+ will use both)

I'm grateful for, thanks.
...Which could mean that at&t's 850MHz band oughta provide 3G, given the Touch Pro2 is SIM-unlocked/able to access US GSM networks, right?

if what i heard is correct, then you cant because SIM lock is software. On top of that, there is hardware lock. So even if you unlock the SIM, there's the hardware lock to bypass, which isn't easy/impossible.
here's another thread about it

GSM bands and the "g"s

I'm looking to upgrade from my HTC Fuze (AT&T) to the Desire Z, but my main question is, even though it is a quad band phone, will it be able to utilize 3G technology?
With all these changes to frequency bands and technology, I'm at the point where I am not sure what the numbers and letters mean. The specs for the A7272 say it supports GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 and HSDPA 900/2100.
other variants of the Desire Z (A7275) says, GSM: 850/900/1800/1700 and UMTS: Band IV 1700/2100
I'm confused as to whether I will be able to use the phone as a 3G phone for both the US (specifically AT&T) and Thailand.
You can get the Bell (Canada) Desire Z, that includes support for at&t 3G
Sounds interesting. My main worry is using it in Thailand as well, but since I go back to Thailand once a year, I can live with edge i guess.

[Q] Changing 3g frequency band

Hi all, I bought Motorola xt 720, and i realized that the 3g band was not as in my country.
In argentina we have 850 - 1900. my phone seems not support that.
I read its a hardware limitation, but i did not loose my faith and came with the experts
Do anyone know if changing 3g band is possible?
Thanks!

[Q] Bottom line on 3G Chinese Smartphones with T-Mobile??

I'm still trying to get the bottom line on using a Chinese made smartphone with T-Mobile in the USA. I'm already aware there is no 4G support in those phones. I really don't need 4G.
All of the Chinese smartphones I've seen seem to carry the same spec:
Network frequency: GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz WCDMA 850/2100MHz
A T-Mobile live chat person provided me this link: support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-4987
They said that the phone MUST support both 1700 and 2100MHz bands to get 3G service. That statement implies the chinese phones won't get 3G speeds.
Someone on this forum made the statement that T-Mobile was in the process of migrating their 2G and 3G service to the 850 and 1900MHz bands which would indicate that a phone with the above specs would get 3G speed. So who is correct? Is anyone using any of the Chinese brand phones with T-Mobile in the USA? What's your experience been?
anyone else trying to figure this out?

Honor 6 H60-L12 Question on 4G/LTE band unlocking?

Hey guys,
Simple/quick question. With the H60-L12 model (4G LTE/NFC)...given root is available, has anyone been able to UNLOCK any other FDD LTE bands for 4G? Id really like to know if it's possible or been attempted, as it may just swing me from another competitors flagship if so.
Take for example B28 (FDD: 700Mhz) which is quickly becoming the newer/faster band used here in Australia. Could such a frequency be unlocked on this phone?
Also, can someone advise how well the LED colour rendering is with ROOT and using LIGHTFLOW app? Not sure if it renders more than 1, 3, 5 colours, etc. Please let me know. A short video would help!
Thanks!

Otherwise, who are some of the devs here I can ask directly?
So that's a no?
Topsicle.
There is no answer because nobody knows what you are talking about.
There is nothing to unlock. If your model implements the frequencies they can all be used.
The frenquencies of H60-L12 are:
2G: GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz
3G: WCDMA 900/2100MHz
4G: LTE 1800 / 2100 (Bands 1, 3)
So you have: GPRS/EDGE/HSDPA/HSUPA/LTE Cat6

I dont think you know what you are talking about, actually.
Phones with Qualcomm chipset that currently have root access can have "FURTHER" unlock other bands. For exaple, LTE 700 MHz on 4G. It can be done, so has it worked on this phone?!
Google it, or check XDA for plenty of posts about it. I want to know if anyone has done it with this phone?!

Well, beside the fact that the Honor 6 has a Kirin920 chipset...
