No

Not yet, but a Verizon rep told me soon.

Yeah, but we all know that they don't know what they are talking about 98% of the time.
Maybe it will come with marshmallow. Who knows.
Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk

Of course not they Lock everything down

It's in the MM upgrade released today.

I just got the Marshmallow OTA and it does have WiFi calling!

Tested and confirmed working. You can also recieve calls without signal.

Does it work with any WiFi or just the WiFi associated with the same Verizon account?

Any WiFi!

I've activated it post mm update and I'm making calls while on wifi and it still uses my minutes. Is that cause I'm still on the 450m unlimited data? I tried calling with air plane mode on, wifi on and it wouldn't let me call out

Does anyone else have a problem on wifi calling where you can hear fine but it's all chopped up on the receiving end? Service in my house can be touchy and this was going to save me that headache. So far it sucks. I hate to do a data wipe.

I haven't really tried this new feature since the update. I'm in Chicago and its pretty good coverage almost everywhere I go. I'll try it when I drop to 3G with Wifi nearby

Will wifi calling work at the resort in Jamaica?

I've been trying to figure out a way to use my smarty phone keep in touch with my kids while in Jamaica this fall. Was hoping I could do a push to talk or walkie talkie app to talk to my kids via wifi. This on Metropcs. Now that I'm here at Tmobile and the G2X, will I be able to call home using the wifi calling via the resorts wifi? Will it work to make a call to the states?
Still really loving this phone!!
I don't see why not. I could call back home using it while in St. Maarten a couple months ago.
I haven't done this personally, you lucky SOB, but I've heard lots of reports that it will work as long as you have an active wifi connection.
I think it is pretty cool. I travel nationally and sometimes I don't get great service if at all but WiFi calling will come in very handy.. I also use it for work... *thumbs down*

I know right...Couples resort Ocho Rios...420 all day everyday!
Yeah Mon!
I'm glad to hear I may be able to comminicate with home.
Yes, you can make and receive calls just like you were in the states via wifi calling. One of the neater things about being on Tmo
The walkies talkies work fine over , WIFI. No matter where You are.

T-Mobile doesn't run a check to see if you're on a WiFi network outside the states? I'm surprised.

Thanks for letting me know this....what resort? So the wifi is working but wifi calling isn't? Are there any settings you can check? Did you have a confirmed wifi connection when you tried? Not calling you stupid I promise, just would love some details. I have never even messed with wifi calling yet. I do appreciate you replying. Gives me time to research why it doesn't work and my options.

Have you tried rebooting? Once in a while I'll come home and my phone doesn't enable Wi-Fi Calling, even though it works most of the time, and rebooting fixes that.
The only other thing I can think of is signal strength; it won't enable Wi-Fi Calling unless you have quite a strong wifi signal, although it will hold it once started if the signal strength doesn't get too low.
Turning on my phone with wifi on there has been a few times I tried to use wifi calling in my home and it said I wasn't registered on the network yet. I had to turn off wifi and saw the 4g icon flashing then I turned wifi back on and the wifi calling would work.
I am not sure if T-Mobile will require you to register on the network first prior to using the wifi app. I am curious as I travel out of the country sometimes.

[Q] Am I missing something with Wifi Calling?

We get charged minutes for wifi calling right? If that's the deal, what's the advantage?

You do not get charged minutes if you are on an eligible plan.
Here... http://consumerist.com/2011/05/t-mobile-adds-free-wifi-calling.html
yep
I guess I was missing something.
I mean really, the only thing would be if you're in an area with crappy T-Mobile reception, you can connect to someone's wifi.

I use it at home because otherwise I get terrible signal inside my apartment building. I have unlimited minutes so I don't worry about it using my plan.

It also comes in handy when you're overseas. Last I heard you don't get charged international roaming if you're using wifi calling.
I work in an old bomb rated telco Bunker (now our Network Operations Center)... reception is terrible, but not with Wifi calling!

When the earthquake happened last week, all the mobile networks in NYC were jammed. However, Wi-Fi Calling let me get through, since it's routed over the Internet to T-Mobile instead of via the overcapacity cell towers!

[Q] wifi calling on this phone

i'm not rooted, totally stock. got this as a replacement thru phone insurance for my g2. is it just me or does wifi calling on this phone suck? on my g2, anytime i was near wifi and connected, i would have a perfect call every time. on this phone, calls over wifi break up so bad i can't hear the other person and have to hang up, disconnect from wifi, and then call them back. more than half of my calls on wifi are like this, but not all. i generally haven't had any problems with calls on the regular network, but i tend to be on wifi at all times at work and at home, so you can see how this would be annoying.
any ideas?
Idk maybe the other devices on the network are taking up too much bandwidth, i have a linksys E1500 and i dont have any problems with wifi calling. What router d you have?
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using Tapatalk
Back in December I used Wi-Fi calling extensively without any problem. I was even surprised that a call I was on that originated on cellular network got handed off to Wi-Fi seamlessly. I didn't think it would do that, but it did. It was only after I hung up from the call that it dawned on me what happened as I got back home and walked into the house.
it really shouldn't be a bandwith problem.. i have a linksys wrt160n here at work with just 2 laptops connected. at home i have an asus rt16 i think its called... i forget the exact model number. but yea, same setup i had just a couple weeks ago with my g2 before it broke and wifi always made for perfect calls. i feel almost like theres something wrong with this mytouch4gslide becuase the signal over wifi calling is THAT bad. completely garbled. again not every time but at least 50% of my calls over wifi calling.

I too had an g2 and I get the same reception on wifi calling as I did with the g2. I guess they are handing these mt4gs out like candy when you send in g2's with problems. Makes ya wonder???

My wife's slide works flawlessly on WiFi calling. The only problems we have had was with the regular mt4g.

WiFi calling

Has anyone gotten the T-Mobile Wi-Fi calling features to work on the moto x?
Sent from my XT1060 using Tapatalk
Bump
Sent from my XT1060 using Tapatalk
Doubt it. There was a huge bounty for someone to get it working on the nexus 4. Never happened. Probably won't happen here either.
I'm on Republic Wireless, our moto x is a modded sprint phone. My WiFi calling works amazing.
PS I used to be on T-Mobile with my HTC One. I just couldn't resist the savings that RW gives me.

How's sprint service? I'm tempted, but everything I hear about it is horrible. I had sprint before and it was bad, especially data.
I had sprint before actually. I had a GSII that I bought on contract 30 days before the GSIII announced and launched. So I was stuck with a 4G wimax phone in an area where we have no sort of 4G. And I was stuck paying for that useless 4G.
I'm happy with republic since with WiFi I don't worry about call reception. And it roams on Verizon if needed.
And for data plans I can pay and use 3G if I wanted to or 4G if it ever comes here. But I'm happy not having data when driving or shopping. And only paying $10 makes me happy with that decision.
But yes I won't lie. Sprints 3G is usually abysmal. My fiancée just got an iPhone 5S on sprints one up. Now he's paying $96/month for the same service I get on a ****ty iSheep device.
If I wanted to use 4G I'd only have to pay $40/month and thats comparable to T-Mobile pre and postpaid. And republic let's you switxh plans twice a month if you want. They are talking of simply selling buckets of data too for people like me that are happy with just cell calls And texts with WiFi only data, but occasionally wish we had a bit of mobile data.

I have sprint, how do I use Wi-Fi calling?
Sent from my XT1056 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
No input on Wi-Fi calling but I will chime in on Sprint services with the Moto X!
I am coming from and 18 month old Evo LTE, rooted to the Moto X with the Sprint SIM card installed (bought from MotoMaker Cyber Monday) Had to activate the phone through a chat conversation on the activation website.
-I will admit that I am now actually very pleased with Sprint service in my area....
-It actually connects really well to 4G and STAYS connected....
-It (usually) re-connects to 4G when in an area of 4G unlike with my Evo (meaning it would sometimes connect to 4G then the next day I wouldn't even be able to connect to force 4G in the same location)
-The Sprint 4G speeds SUCK at best though. Check Sensorly speeds in my 4G area..... you may see a 14mb but average would MAYBE be 6MB, me that's 3G speeds.
-I still am thinking of dropping Sprint. Sure it's unlimited but Sprint has taught me to rely on Wi-Fi.
Well doing some research I found that republic wireless uses sprint signal. Even doing a coverage check they say to look at sprints maps. So I also seen that bringing a sprint phone to republic wireless is not possible because of republics wifi calling or what they call hybrid calling has specific code baked into their phones Rom.
So with that info how hard would it be to extract that features code from their Roms for use on Sprint phone s? Or could a Sprint phone flash a republic rom and be able to use that wifi calling feature on Sprint.
Wifi Calling has always been closed source and will never be available on 3rd party ROM......If something change it would be #1 news on XDA
So just to put this out there. My cousin has a HTC one sprint phone and he was complaining how it kept popping up something about unable to connect to WiFi calling whenever he tried to call someone. I took a look at his phone and were settings in his phone related to WiFi calling. But it was wanting account information or a sip account. Thought that was interesting.

I think the SIP internet calling options were added waaay back in GB?. Maybe it wasn't until ICS. OP wants native wifi calling. Google Voice + Groove IP is about as close as you can get for now.
Odd, I thought you could activate Internet Calling with a build.prop change & something in the permissions folder... Noticed I had it on my CM10.1.3 Galaxy Note.

Call guality issues

I had VoLTE enabled(HD calling) and everyone was complaining of my phone cutting out. I switched it back off and it is going good again.
Just an FYI if anyone else is getting crap call quality on your end.
Yeah, we are all going to be learning what Verizon's data network is really like in the coming months.

You disabled it on your account? or is there somewhere to disable it on the phone?
On the phone under network settings.
