VOLTE sim issue with Moto G 3rd gen - Moto G 2015 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently got two sim cards of Reliance Jio 4G in India. This sim supports VOLTE for calling. I have put Jio 4G sim in slot 1 and Airtel 4G sim in slot 2. Things are working fine and I am getting LTE and VOLTE signals as shown in attached screenshot 1.

But at randomly, my LTE sim signal is getting lost and sim 1 is showing as in screenshot 2.
All I need to do is to go to sim settings and disable sim 1 and again enabling it will bring signals back. This is happening randomly during a day and happening 4-5 times in a day. I even dont know that signal is lost unless I take my phone of pocket for some other work. I have even tried to put second Jio 4G sim to check but same is happening with second sim also. Tried even putting both Jio 4G sim in sim slot 2 but same problem is happening. But my another sim of Airtel 4G is not having any such issue.
So I am confused whether its an issue with sim or phone? Not able to decide whether to go to service center or contact Jio service provider customer care.
Any help would really be appreciations. Thanks in advance.

Its the issue with jio 4g network
Its the issue with jio 4g, it is still under test and not commercially released, it is given only to reliance employees so that they can perform tests. I also have the SIM and I'm facing similar issues. So just chill nothing's wrong with your phone its the jio the network which is weak and under testing. But its getting stable day by day.
Also I wanted to ask you that how to use VoLTE as in my MOTO G3 this VoLTE symbol is not there? I was never able to make a VoLTE call. Is it because of the marshmallow update? Please let me know your software version. Are you on lollipop or marshmallow?
Thanks. :good:

I don't know how the OP is getting a VoLTE icon on their device, the Moto G 2015 does not support VoLTE.

Moto g 2015 support VoLTE , whatever version is your's LP or MM you have to just enable it in under settings.
Settings > More > Mobile networks > enhanced calling feature ( enable it ) .
Remember VoLTE is available only on sim 1 .

I don't see such option in the settings. No enchanced calling feature.......

Are you on stock ROM ? , if then your network service provider has to support VoLTE otherwise you can't enable it .

On which android version of stock rom or which rom you were getting Volte sign over network?
Can u pleaae tell..
I am also using G3 and Jio4g ..I am not unable to listen the sound fron other side ..
There is no sound..
Please tell on which rom you were getting signals of VoLTE ??
Hint:- I am using Cm12.1 and there is no option to enable VoLte..
Thanks

Only stock rom support VoLTE call and messages.
If you are on stock rom make sure you have enabled enhanced 4G LTE mode under mobile networks >settings.

I am using Reliance Jio 4G sim.Even I have faced the network disconnection issue sometimes.Hope it is the problem with the network provider(Reliance).Other than that everything is working fine, been using VOLTE for calls, and 4G is working smoothly for me as of now.

Will you check phone testing by dialing *#*#4636#*#* after check down there and select TURN ON VOLTE PROVISIONAL FLAG then reboot.
After that check in network settings.

its all issue of jio sim
I am also facing this type of issue my signal always lost when I change mobile data from jio to another sim

I used moto g3 with cm13

VOLTE Properly Work on Nexus 5

hello n5 users i am using jio sim in my n5 and it is working and voice call also. first you must install fake nexus rom android 7.1 in this rom check 4G enhanced LTE Mode enable or not,if it is not enable then enable it and use VOLTE in nexus 5. if any query tell me.:fingers-crossed:
i am extremely sorry because i forget to upload screenshots here are some screenshots check it.

Can you post a screenshot of it working? As much as i'd like VoLTE feature on the Nexus 5, i still believe that the phone lacks the hardware required.
I'd be glad if i'm wrong though.
can you send me the screenshot of it pls..

Tried it out, the enhanced 4g aka VOLTE setting exists but I couldn't get VOLTE icon in the status bar and was not able to place any calls at all. Probably the setting is just a stub.
Not working
sometimes doesn't work jio voice calls because of network problem.
In the screenshot you posted you are using jio4GVoice app to place and receive call, it has nothing to do with phone supporting volte or fake nexus rom, I am on stock marshmallow on nexus 5 and using the same app i can place call using jio, its just an app that lets you place calls over your mobile data..

VoLTE not working

Hi, I had Poco F1 before with working VoLTE, so I know that my carrier and current Sim card is supporting it. All I had to do on the F1 was typing in that code *#*#86583#*#* and activating the new volte setting.
I tried that with the X3 but it's not working. Whenever I receive/make a phone call my connection will switch from 4G to 3G.
Is there a workaround or is it a hardware limitation? I could imagine because the X3 just has an entry level SOC that the modem has some artificial restrictions to differentiate from the flagship SOC (845/865).
Did you get a volte carrier check disabled message after dialling that?
For me both volte and vowifi are working fine
Yes I got that. Are you telling the phone your real location or do I have to chose India or china? I remember with my Poco F1 I had to chose India to get features like call recording...btw I'm in Australia.
Changing regions
Anyone know if I do a factory reset and change to a different region like Europe will that make the phone operate on different Verizon bands possibly allowing me to get service? Just a thought ?

If you got the VoLTE was disabled message after entering the code, go to SIM settings and there will show the option to activate VoLTE. If not appears, try to enter the code again and check the SIM settings.

I think using different bands it's more about regional ROMs construction (Global, India, Europe etc) than changing region in ROM settings. Alternative, you can flash a different regional ROM using MiFlash and see if it helps with your problem.
After entering that code I get the switch, to turn on volte, but that doesn't change anything.

Can't you see the specific VoLTE symbol near mobile signal in the upper right corner of the screen? If you can't see it, you can try to make a phone call and see if the google dialer shows it's a VoLTE call (or check the dialer history calls if you use Xiaomi dialer....you'll see there if it was a VoLTE call or not).
Same here with my Poco x3 NFC global I am on Vodafone UK my carrier support volte and vofi but I can't enable it , I have no settings . What I found when I flash custom ROMs the volte works , the sound in voice calls is super crisp and I got the icon always there vote on sim and vofi on WiFi . I need an option or a menu or a trick to show that option in stock ROM to enable it .
I remember back in the days when I had OnePlus I had to go in the ingineer menu to tick on a toggle " enable volte" and "enable vofi"
And later on the OnePlus 7t pro I had to install an apk to force that toggle so I can enable it .
On my Mi Mix 2s it shows volte when enabled. This one no. Poco needs to fix this before a number of users get dumped for lack of volte.

Did you try activate it using this codes in Dialer? VoLTE: *#*#86583#*#* and VoWIFI: *#*#869434#*#*. After that go to your SIM settings and you'll get the option to activate VoLTE and VoWiFi.
I have tried those and I left it on enabled both of them . Still not working

If you have an locked bootloader I'm not aware about a method to flash another regional ROM. I had read that many Poco X3 users have problems getting mobile data connection with Verizon (especially in USA).

Same here in Italy, no volte, it switch ti 3g. With my previous 8t all was fine
I am using the stock room and used the dial codes got the settings but everytime I tried to make a call it wouldn't work I went to setting all specs and tap internal storage 5 times then choose the sim you are using then you have to turn the top switch off then back on. This is how I got mine working I also have extended my storage by using root explorer and cut everything under sd card and move to storage.

Any results on this ? I have the same problem. Or is there custom firmware that enables WiFi calling ?
I have the same problem, the problem is the 1+ at the beginning of each number.
Like 1(760)555-5555. Remove the 1, and should be fine. also any 1 800. numbers might now work even removing the 1. I just modified all my contacts, and removed the 1 from each number, but when you recieve a call from them you can't click their number in call history you either have to type in the whole number without the 1 or on your conctacts if you alredy fix the number manually.
hope this helped.
thanks, I am using XiaoMi Poco X3 Pro with Mint on t-mobile,

Gosh, I just found that when you use *#*#..., those two features will be enabled with a message like "VoLTLE (or Wifi Call) was disabled". If you see "was enabled", that means you actually deactivate the feature. Now, I see the features are working for me on Mint Mobile. Hopefully, this helps you.
Hey all. I just found this thread, and I understand based on the input above how to send the text message with the gobbledygook that enables both volte as well as Wi-Fi calling. My problem is that I'm already overseas, and so I'm not on the mint mobile network at the moment to enable this. Can any of you think of a workaround?

No way to enable while overseas unfortunately.
Hey all, this is still working for Mint Mobile as of Sept 2022. One word to the wise: when you put in the above codes you want it to say, "was disabled" after you put in the codes. This is super counterintuitive. Let's go!

Any idea whether this works on a carrier that doesn't mention your device on their list? I assume it does, but my carrier requires me to call them to get it activated, which I don't want to do if it doesn't end up working.
The carrier in question is Virgin Mobile in the UK.

I'm not sure if you can have VoLTE and VoWiFi available at the same time, on mine it's one or the other. Disable wifi and what happens?
Yup, u are correct, seems VOLTE gets activated by default if wifi is not connected.
Never really seen the big deal with VoLTE. If you have a data signal good enough for it to be used, you have a general mobile signal good enough to make or receive a phone call rendering it somewhat pointless.
VoWIFI on the other hand is something else entirely, far more important for me which makes it not working highly irritating. Vodafone say it has been activated, but it hasn't.

generally your phone will be on 4G/5G and you will have a decent data connection.
Without VoLTE your phone has to drop to 3G which is likely not as good. Also some places don't have 3G any more, so without VoLTE you may not be able to make calls.

Yes, and the quality will probably won't be as good as VoLTE and you may lose data connection whilst you are on 2G/3G.

In my experience, if you have a 4G/5G signal good enough for a phone call to be on Volte, you have a good enough voice signal for the difference to be non-existent.
Doesn't really matter anyway, if it's important for some people then fair enough. The only advantage I can see is if you're downloading something and you receive a phone call, the download will continue on 4G/5G as opposed to dropping to 3G.
But I really need a method of forcing VoWIFI to work.

Yes, and the quality will probably won't be as good as VoLTE and you may lose data connection whilst you are on 2G/3G.

That is the whole point. VoLTE allows you to use the internet at the same time as you make a phone call. If you do not have VoLTE then when you make a call you might not be able to do any internet surfing, or anything else until the call ends. VoLTE is needed more than VoWiFi in general because VoWiFi is used when stationary in your home or at a public WiFi area. VoLTE is used when traveling/moving AND when stationary!

I know all that. I was trying to explain what the big deal with VoLTE is!
