Pair a Kindle Paperwhite with a phone? - General Questions and Answers

Not sure if anybody here knows anything about the kindle paperwhite, but I was wondering if it was possible, somehow, to connect your kindle paperwhite to you phone for file transfer?
I'm going to travel south america soon for a longer time and I wanna pack as light as possible, meaning no laptop. However I plan on reading a lot; Don't know which books yet though(Anybody heard of the 52in52 challenge maybe?) and I would love to be able to get books on my kindle from other sources than the kindle store also. So I could download them to my phone and them somehow get them on the kindle.
Any chance thats possible?

HELP! Kindle Fire or Nook Tablet?

Hello,
My cousin is visiting the states which means it's perfect timing for me to ask for a cheap tablet.
As usual it comes down to NT vs KF. Which device is more compatible with sideloaded android apps?
i think its the nook.. but im unsure..

neither... go get an Asus Transformer or something similar... you have more flexibility to do what you want with apps. The Nook only has like 1 GB for "personal user" space and the Kindle allows some side load stuff, but if you have to root you can say goodbye to Amazon video. At least that's what I rememeber reading lately.

When you say "sideloaded" apps, I take that to mean you are not planning on rooting the device. If that's the case you almost have to go to the Nook Color because of it's SD card slot where you can add media at will. The biggest weakness of the NC is the lack of a microphone, but it's the best 7 (meaning very handy and portable) tablet around (IMO). If you can go larger, then the Asus Transformer is the best - although quite a bit more money as well.
My personal taste for a small, knock-around, tablet is the Nook Color, rooted and overclocked and install apps like Netflix and it's a terrific tablet. You could do the same with the Kindle Fire but you would be lacking that SD card slot.
Either one would be a neat device. Used you can find Nook Colors on ebay for around 150.

[Q] Amazon Video apk

Has anyone gotten the Amazon Video app to work on their 7+?
I figure since it has the same screen resolution it should work on unrooted tablets unless it just really loves being on Gingerbread.
As a former owner of a Nook Tablet (ditched it for more than 2 points of multitouch on 7+) I know it is not locked onto the Kindle Fire but the Nook Tablet was Gingerbread not Honeycomb so maybe that is the issue.

Can I root a Skyrocket from a Kindle Fire?

Can I root a Skyrocket from a Kindle Fire?
It has a USB port. But I've never rooted a phone from anything other than a Windows desktop before. Kind of wondering if it can be done from a Kindle Fire?
I googled it but all the hits are about rooting the Kindle, rather than using the Kindle to root something else.
Well no, you can't. There is no odin for a kindle fire and there will possibly never be...

How to 'borrow' books on kindle app

I'm trying to convice mi lady to move over to the nexus 7 from the fire, and she has 0 problems with it, as she is an android fan like me and likes the newest and baddest
that being said, she seems to be a little upset that she can't 'borrow' the free books from the kindle lending library without a kindle device...
so how can we get around this to borrow books from the kindle lending library?
we do have an older kindle we don't use, so maybe borrow one from there, and will it show up on the kindle app then?
and does google play bookstore have a similar borrow book feature? (doubt it)
Maybe by editing the build.prop, bit that requires root.. Btw, I would ask this is the Nexus 7 section
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk 2
I borrow books on my Acer tablet via my local library and the Kindle App. The Overdrive Media Center app is the easiest way to do it. All you need in a library card and pin number from the local library. My only problem is that I don't have a large library system to draw from. Would LOVE to get the pin and card number from a huge library system like NYC or something like that!

Then Kindle app is limited. My wife wanted a couple of magazine subscriptions and they were only available on a Kindle Device. I think Prime is the same way and I suspect borrowing is too. We ended up finding a Fire on Craigslist to get all the functionality.
