Max Charging rate (mAh) of Moto G Eka Falcon - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've seen on different post , many said it can charge max 1.5 A. or 1500mAh .
but i'm not getting that charging rate , tried out different 1.5 A. and 2.1 A. charger. on Stock Rom/Custom Rom/Kitkat rom.... nowhere.
I've found max rate on
Amphere: 930mAh
Battery (apps): 1120 mAh.
plz post here charging rate of ur one.

I have tried many chargers , currently using a 2.1A charger - full charge in 1 hour.
I think amperage of falcon is around ~1.5A
Apart from the charger the quality (esp. thickness) of the cable also matters. I have used bad quality thin cables with 2.1A charger and it takes more than 5 hours to charge - so I bought a high quality charging cable

is there any patch or tweak to charge about 1500mAh??
plz share screenshot or max charging rate of ur's. cause its hard to believe our Falcon can take 1.5A current flow.

[Q] Nexus S Charger: Does a different output volt matter?

Hello Guys n Gals...
I friend of mine has lost his original Nexus S charger few weeks ago and now has managed to get his hands on another genuine Samsung charger but with a different volt and ampere rating.
As far as I know, ampere rating affects the charging time but I'm not sure how does volt rating affect the battery.
Original charger: ETA0U60JBE Output: 5.0V / 0.7A
Replacement: ETA3U30UBE Output: 4.7V / 0.55A
Is it safe to use this replacement one? Beside having just a long recharge time because of lower ampere, what other effect can the voltage difference make?

New battery charger

Hello,
my battery charger stopped working and i need a new one. I read a few review and i'm a bit confuesd, not every chargers with the capability to deliver 1000mAh works with every device. So which one oft them works with the desire s and delivers 1000mAh and not just 500mAh?
just buy a oem wall charger ,, easily found on ebay and also cheap
does it has any difference between 1000 and 500mah chargers? now i'm using original liveview charger with 500mah on it but also have 1A iPhone charger.

Overheating
im using an old S2 charger i think, its got an output of 5V, 0.7 amps and after flashing a costom rom, jellyfirebean im getting serious overheating issues, but only while charging with the phone on.
however i cant confirm this is the chargers problem yet
just a note, its the phone that heats up not the charger

Double that. Overheating can be only caused by the phone itself, or a defected battery (means it is near death, but for serius heating, you will notice like 1hrs of battery life for the phone).
On another note for the topic. I use 3 type of chargers for my phones:
At home my ASUS tab's one (which is rated 5V 1A at the standard USB, plus the extra for the dock, but it is ASUS specific), at work an old ZTE "dumbphone" charger (which is rated 5V 0.75A, and is a high frequency switching type, so really energy-efficient) and for any other my old SE X8's one, which is 5V 650mA (which is also switching type). Also dedicated charger cables, 1 nokia, 1 SE, 1 HTC and 1 ZTE at my car.
The phone's original 5V 1A is NRFB at the box of the phone, but I have a security backup Samsung charger (rated 5V 500mA and pass-trough type, so not really efficient, but stable) which works just fine. The S is not capable (or not enabled just yet) of fast charge mode AFAIK so no really chance for 500mA or more when charging (even when GPS and 3G on, and screen on max, which is aroung 430mA when I last measued it with a service cable).

yeah i can confirm it was the 2 year old htc battery
i am now using 2 anker 1600mah batterys and they last a LOT longer + come with an enternal charger so i always have one charged, it also charges the old htc battery too externally so i can now use 3 battieries mwahahahaa
note i did have to delete battery stats in cwm to recalibrate

[Q] Buy a new charger or not?

Got my new moto g yesterday and its damn good but the thing that frustrates me is the charging, I got a charger with 550mA output and it takes about 4 hours to charge from scratch. I am thinking to buy a new charger and read somewhere that the max cap is of a 1.5A power supply, I need to know how much power supply should I have for maximum battery years. Should it be 1.5A or my current charger or something in between like 1200mA. Thanks in advance.
It really depends on the electronics circuit inside the moto g and also on the one in the battery.Motorola says max recommended is 1,5Ah.I`m using an HTC charger (the old ones) with 1Ah / 5V rating , its charging it for about 2hrs.Also tried with Sony 880 charger (1,5Ah, and it took ~1hr and 30 min.But what I can tell you is that if the charger is high quality one, they all follow the 2( 3 ) step charging in a nice parabola.
If I were you , I would have gotten something with higher amps, like at least 0,9-1,2 at least, cos waiting 4hrs for it to charge is a pain, otherwise it wont be a problem for the batter at all.

A slow charge is likely to be best for overall battery longevity so as a balance I'd go for something around the 1amp mark. I use a .75a Blackberry Charger - takes 3hrs to fully charge from empty.

[Q] moto G slow charging rate measured, max .49A

Hi,
I bought a device to measure USB current.
And I'm surprised about the slow charging rate of my moto G (XT1032, unlocked, unrooted).
I tried it in every USB power outlet I have, ranging from 1A to 2.1A.
(In the instructions I can read that it is recommended to use 2A usb outlets.)
and the amper meter shows me currents ranging from .33A to .49A when charging the moto G.
Is this normal ?

My xt1033 is charging slowly.. Takes 3 hrs to charge from 10% to 100%.
I have search about this issue and all says its normal.
But i have purchase mi power bank of 10400 mah in India of mi company.
And it takes 1.5 hrs only to charge from 10% to 100% ..... It has 5.2 v output

You're probably measuring it wrong or your amp meter has a high drain...
Also avoid measuring when the battery is 80% or higher.

Fast Charging Using Nexus 5X Charger

Hey guys, just to let you all know on my findings. I have Nexus 5X charger (rated 5v 3A) and decided to try on my A1.
It goes from 63% (I think, I forgot to write down the actual %) to 100% in 45 minutes. Considering usually after 80% it will charge slowly, I think this is pretty quick time.
I'll test it again some more when the battery level is much lower and report back.
I'm on latest Oreo stable

37% in 45 minutes isn't all that fast, imo.
I'll measure charge time tomorrow, stating start percentage and I'll look for what happens after 80%, to see how much it drops in charging amperage.

I didn't measure it's amperage, just check the time till it fully charged.
If do the math from this charge means from 0% can be fully charge in 82 minutes. That should be faster than stock charger. One caveat though, if it's really 63% and not 73% when I start charging it.
Now my phone already 2 hours SOT and almost an hour hotspot, but still left 74%. Not easy to deplete it's battery.
One more thing I forgot to mention in first post, I'm on latest Oreo stable.

From what I read, Quick Charge would use dynamic voltage (5v-20v) instead of utilizing higher amps to attain higher wattage charging.
Use ampere app to measure current.
For better results try charging it while its off from 0 to 100.
And try while its on.

I'm not sure if Nexus 5X charger is QC, it doesn't stated anywhere. But the amperage is higher than A1 stock charger.

Ok I'll try it when I charge later. Now the battery still left 50%. I'll drain it another 10% at least before charging.

Alright so my battery was at 42% when I plug in the charger. Using ampere it stated Max USB Curr is 2000mA. And the reading max is 1930mA while average is about 1800mA.
After 20 minutes it have gone up to 65%. Reached 90% after 43 minutes. At exactly one hour it reached 97%, which I checked ampere reading is 440mA. 100% reached at 64 minutes.
During charging I received a call which lasted about 3 minutes, which I use loud speaker for the call, so here might have added few minutes to it's charging time.
So I guess the speed is around the same when Oreo beta is?
Start time: 0805h
Battery: 38%
Check in time: 0905h
Battery: 87%
Did see that the amperage has lowered to around 1A after the battery reached past 80%. It definitely decreases after 90%, I'll check this the next time I charge.
I can run the test again with a different usb measuring tool. This first one seems to indicate a lower voltage than my other tool by about 0.2v (and amperage by about 0.2-0.3A. Although it should just be a passthrough for the power, it may be inhibiting the power sent to the phone.
The measured amount of power sent was ~1600mAh to get the phone to 90%. That seems about right for 52%, give or take.
i try with Honor 8 Pro QC charger (9v 2a) and it goes from 0 to 78% in 60 minutes, phone was off. I don't know the total time to 100%, sry

That seems faster. I got a Huawei 9v 2a charger too, I'll test it after my battery dropped below 50%.

1600mAh is the amount of power that was sent to the phone, as measured by my USB measuring tool. If you're talking about amperage during charging, I get around 1.9A on average. It fluctuates between 1.85 and 1.95A, and the voltage fluctuates between 4.95 and 5.20.
This is using a Tutuo charger which is capable of QC 3.0, and also 5v/2.4A.
I've tested using the regular 2.4A port and the QC port.
Basically, this phone does not request more than 2A at most, so even a 3A charger isn't going to make a difference.
I am using stock charger only. Don't have fast charger won't buy it unless phone supports it

Incase of zl max current was capped at 1.5 A
QC 1 is 5V 2A our charger 10W
I bought Samsung 5v 2a charger for my zl. I still have it. Works fine. (Just adding history to context :laugh
QC 2 was designed to give 18W(average)
5v 2a QC1 compatibility
9v 2a QC2 18W output
12v 1.67a (from Wikipedia)
QC3 went with higher amps and dynamic voltage
Don't know anything about QC4
So give 9v 2a a try while measuring current take screenshots multiple times to track voltage since i don't know any other way to measure voltage except what ampere already shows.
PS: i know commands to read from proc and all but since i haven't rooted my device i won't ask you to go through that way.

Started charging 12:54 AM, battery at 4%, airplane mode activated

I tried with 9v 2A charger, still capped at 5v and almost 2000mA.
One interesting finding is using the 9v and Dash charger plus their cable give consistently almost 2000mA, whereas if using Mi charger and cable; or Dash charger and Mi cable; or Mi charger and Dash cable; all give around 1700 to 1800mA averagely. I think Mi charger and cable is of lower quality and unable to max out 2A.
The conclusion that I found is if want a slightly faster charging then use other better quality charger and cable.

That's as fast as when Oreo beta is. Like I suspected Mi original charger and cable unable to max out the ampere.

I just read that Mi has not opted for Quick Charge by paying royalty to Qualcomm. So they have disabled QC functions from software side, though chip is definitely capable.
By Mistake, they let Beta have QC functionality. But now that has been fixed.
We now have to find way to enable it ... If possible.
