Got the same message here..smh

There was a new limit Sprint out on unlimited data plans. I think it was 26gb. I know its stupid.

I am happy so far over the last couple years I never got this warning or throttled. I have used up to 300 plus gigs a while on note 4. But since note 5 I have not rooted so I guess I have slowed on downloads. I now average around 70 to 130 gigs. Past 3 months. I think bigger cities are the ones that get this. Or heavy sprint areas. I think here where I live it's not too many that are on sprint. SO i love it. I get 27 down and 10.plus up.

Keep it mind it will only impact you on congested towers, while congested checked on 20ms intervals.

No message..lol

Sprint Data Usage?!

Hey Guys -
I am a bit worried... I know that we are supposed to have unlimited data through sprint... but I wouldn't be suprised if they pull an AT&T and limit people to 2GB...
AT&T argue that "hardly anyone uses 2GB on their phone" - but I have now used 1.6 GB in 8 days... What would be on my phone that uses that much data?! The only thing I can think of is Pandora but theres no way that uses 1.6GB...
I guess it's probably QIK now that I think about it - so if QIK uses 1.6GB that fast (I have uploaded quite a few videos and use this often)... if Sprint ever does throttle internet (which is on their playbook)... they will be throttling their video chat customers instantly..
Sucks to be iPhone uses with this "Face Time" i guess thats why they are limiting it to WiFi... cause if they didn't - all their customers would have data overages every month!
Hah - 1 up for Evo
I'm with you on this one, since I got my evo i've used 1.66gb Though I checked sprints 'plan optimizer' and I have used 1.8gb each month on average over the last year
I'm hoping I don't hit the cap and have to kill my data till it resets lol
In sprints new data format for data cards, they only have the 2gb limit on 3g, 4g is still unlimited, the majority of the us should have 4g within a year or so, so I wouldn't worry too much about it
-------------------------------------
Jramz, sent from my evo with swype.
Evo 4g
Root w/ perma-recovery & unlocked nand
Fresh Evo 0.2
You know... if at&t says the majority never will go past 2 gigabytes... why have the cap in the first place huh?
actually jramz its 5gb for 3g. unlimited for 4g.
but if they ever did, theyd wait for verizon or somebig name to do it before them one more time, and if they did 3g would probably be limited while 4g unlimited.
sprint has no plans on throttling data....and no plans to get rid of our unlimited data....i wouldn't worry about it...
Indeed. I just checked my personal details and I have used 282 mobile-mobile, 10 n/w, 60 land line, 50 texts, and a WHOOPING 3.2GB of data in 10 days. I have been using SprintTV to broadcast the FIFA games in the lab (ATT could not even get a signal in there and I get 3G good enough for video in there).
Oh yeah, I have been using the 4G as my data connection at home since it gets 5.5-7 mbps at my house rather than the measely 3.2 from Comcast. Comcast is getting cut at the beginning of July. I cut ATT and all my Apple products at the beginning of this month. Slowly, but surely I am getting rid of Evil, Frustration, and Big Bills in favor of fairness, open source, and portability. Sprint + Clear FTW!!!!!

When I hit 35 gigs last month 4 days before my bill cycle date Sprint shut off my ability to use EVDO. I wonder if forcing evdo will get around this? I think if I try to force evdo I will simply have no internet.
I think I am grandfathered in the truly unlimited internet access. I have never used over 30 gigs in one month before. I am surprised they did did this to me. I even drove to the base of the tower and reset my phone and checked to make sure forcing rome was off. Then the night my new bill cycle started at midnight I was surfing and watching the 1x on my phone. Sure enough it changed to EV at 12:01 Am. HA Proof. Sprint didnt charge me or contact me about it as of today its been 3 days since my bill came in. HmmView attachment 564921
as a fellow "power user", i can say, dont worry about it. they've never throttled me. one time i felt like they were and i just pulled the battery for about 7 or 8 minutes (until tv went back to commercials) and it fixed right up
They did it again. Twice more. When I hit 30 gigs im stuck at 1x till my bill cycle starts over. Sprint 15 year old plan.
My land line company finally got DSL to my neck of the jungle so I dont need to tether any longer. Now that I dont need more then 2GB per line Im Ditching my $350 six line 6,000 minute Sprint plan for Straight Talk. Im loosing insurance, roadside assistance and reducing my bill. Sprint has very bad reception in Hawaii.
Yeah i was reading that this is what Verizon is preparing to do.

Hopefully sprint is not a follower and decide to screw us by limiting our data use.
I hope they don't follow those data cap. The only reason I'm with sprint is unlimited data coz signal and internet speed are the worst of all.

with the release of the iphone 5 i highly doubt that will happen any time soon.
right now, they're in third place with the major cell service providers and it's the one that distinguishes them from the pack or the biggest providers. If they do, there's time till to do so.
I think(I could be wrong) I read somewhere that sprint cap is only for those who use phone as a modem, phone internet use is not capped
I found out that the cheap prepaid plan with Straight talk at wallmart should have an internet speed 15 times faster then Sprint. And that got me thinking. Well sprint says they dont throttle but I know they do. They did it to me 3 times. I ditched them for a cheaper prepaid phones from wallmart. I had 6 lines with Sprint for 15 years. I Finally have DSL now so I no longer have to rely on sprints so called unlimited data. My new phone service has way better reception on the Big Island then sprint does. And its internet speed is faster then my DSL. I am getting 6835kbps down and 1050kbps up on my new (but old) Samsung Galaxy II skyrocket with there bring your own phone plan at $45 a month. Down side is rumor has it that its caped at 100 mega bytes a day with a max of 2 GB a month. I have not pushed those limits yet.

Will AT&T cancel my contract if i use a lot of data?

Last month I was throttled at about 3.5gb and I ended up at 14gb by the end of the month. This was my protest for being throttled. Mind you, the last 7 months usage I usually do 3.5-4gb.
This month I got my 5% warning and im sure will be throttled within the next few days. When that happens I plan to do 100gb
Will AT&T cancel my account ? is this a stupid way to protest? What do you guys think?
Tbh, I think my last month raised the top 5% because this month I got my first warning at 3.8gb…last month my first warning was at 3.2 and i was throttled at 3.5
No, I don't think they will because everytime you get close to the threshold you'll be throttled. I had a very long and wasteful talk with one of their representative.
Throttled at GB and 13 days left. So far I have used more than 15 GB thanks to the APN switch. I don't care I am paying for unlimited data so nobody can tell me otherwise. AT&T can throttle my speed all they want but unlimited data is what we are paying for. Thank god for APN switch.
I am just trying to figure out how you guys can consume that much data each month. Are your phones streaming videos and music 24x7 or something? I am just curious as to what a typical day of use would be for you.
I also have unlimited data but I barely use 2GB's per month cause most places have wifi now and if I am out of the house with the family or friends, I TRY not to keep my face buried in my phone.
As far as your method of protest (@waiters), I personally think it IS stupid if you are going that far simply because they are throttling you. Just because you CAN do a thing, doesn't mean you SHOULD do a thing. Just my opinion.
But as you stated, you are guaranteed unlimited data, so have fun...
First of all to everyone ,
i haven't gotten my skyrocket yet until friday, but im sure its the same with the iphone .iv been with an iphone since 07 when it was first released , luckily i one of them in a handful that HAD the unlimited plan until last month . ATT will not cancel your data plan , they will just apply you with a new data plan (4gb a month) . i was warned months before my plan got changed . first started with sms from att then emails and lastlly and sms&email notifing me with the change.
so long story short ,ATT will just change your plan .most likely to you will get 4gb a months and 10$ after each gb .
BTW my choice to switch to android after so many years after being loyal apple customer was nothing more then to try out other operating systems Oh and 4G . especially after being disappointed of the iphone4s which wasnt much of a change from the iphone4. Dont get me wrong IOS is and wonderful system ,very user friendly . lets hope android turns good for me too as its community. Any tips or redirection to great forums like this one will be greatly appreciated
I upload a ton of pics and vids of the family...download roms..stream pandora and stream slingbox in the car or at restaraunts. I also tend to sit and watch youtube for hours at work. the wife and i average about 4gb a month each. we ise wifi when home
The real problems I have are that
1. last month i was throttled after being on vacation for three weeks ...so yeah heavy data usage
2. if we go out of town and have heavy data usage the first weekend of the month...bam...throttled for the rest of the month...super lame to be throttled because we used "more" than whoever they are comparing us to at the beginning of the cycle.
3. every notification I have received has been within an hour of streaming slingbox .. Seems fishy

I would like to offer my input here by saying that that sounds like a GREAT way to protest.
Clearly these thresholds are going to HAVE to be changed with our current level and generation of wireless speeds. It's obviously impractical for the limits being as low as they are (before throttling).
They need to wake UP and take some action, and until they do that I say feel free to do whatever you'd like to nudge them along to hopefully get their tails moving in the right direction.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
Internet usage , cause I didn't own a laptop or of to be tethering off to . I would of switched over to sprint but unfortunately they have really really low speeds
AT&T really needs to think things through. Fine with throttling data, but AT&T needs to be clear about what is exactly the cap limit and let the consumer know about it. Now, for LTE, the cap needs to be higher than 6 GB a month. LTE speeds are very fast and with all of those updates from the market, streaming content such as videos @ 720 and HQ music your data will be consumed in no time. Your call AT&T, keep being sneaky and don't face the heat or just adapt to the fact that many consumer will start going the route of switching APN's on their phones and getting good HSPA+ speeds. I am lucky I live in Dallas were HSPA+ speeds are within 7 to 10mb download every time. Android 2.3.5 + HSPA+=winning combination for consumers.

Thanks for the honest reply. I was honestly curious. I have heard that sling box has horrible (meaning almost zero) data compression, so that doesn't surprise me. Do you have a data monitor on your phone so you can see how much each app is pulling? Might be interesting to know.
Installed one last night.
To give you an idea of the amount of control I use, I apparenyly use about 1-2gb of data a night on wifi.
I am using "my data manager" which tracks wifi and cell data. I am curious to see if claims that heavy amounts of cell data are still being used even though I am connected to wifi.

Really T-Mobile?

So yeah my "unlimited" plan was slowed down because I exceeded the 2 GB limit on the plan I had. My question is, how much do they cut off in the "unlimited" plan when you reach your maximum 4G bandwidth?
I noticed that my speed is so sluggish that when I download something it goes by the kilo bytes, and I can't stand it!
Also it has nothing to do with the reception, I live in the tri-state area so obviously T-Mobile has full coverage of where I live.

its probably because you have the 2gb high speed unlimited plan and not the unlimited nationwide 4g plan (I have that and I love it!! No throttling at all!!
You should have truly unlimited data but only 2 gigs of 4g then they cap your bandwith to about 26k.
Im on simple mobile now but when on tmobile i managed to get 7 gb of data one month with a torrent app.
Never heard of a 4gig limit but ive been on simple for about a year. Maybe diff now.

I have a 4G plan but it's capped at 2 GB. But hey better than Metro-Piece-Of-S**t.
With the new unlimited plan it shows a cap of 10,000 gigs a month.
If i reach that cap.....ill let you know whether or not i get throttled.
My old 2 yr contract was 4gig cap
Being capped sucks. I called and complained and said i can't even check my e-mail and i use my phone for business this is unacceptable im gonna leave yadda yadda and they gave me a "free" gig of data. I suggest you do the same

10,000 gigs. Assuming the month has 30 days:
Around 333 gigs per day
13 gigs per hour
.23 gigs (230 megabytes) per minute
3.85 megabytes per second
It's definitely doable if you have a really good phone and something to download 24/7 for a month.
Comcast(cable) has a suggested limit of 300g. What could you do with 10k?

OMG you lied to us and said it was 10,000 you are a untrusty person. Lying to us like that...ok enough sarcasim.
That is actually pretty awesome. Like fb said its possible to use that much if you are downloading 24/7 but that would be a lot of stuff. Not sure you could off-load it fast enough to a computer/stand alone hard-drive.
On topic many have said it you still have unlimited data only at a 2/G speed. /shrug
It might be 10,000 lol if you add what got used of it.
At least we can all agree that it's OVER 9000!!!!!

Speed test with my previous SII with 42Mbps+ capability, it only does 25Mbps+ max download, but practically it probably will probably download 20Mbps by average, so I doubt one can reach the limit even downloading 24/7. Would have to wait till next year when LTE is out for T-Mobile.

Att unlimited data

I have a question for the att unlimited data users. I posted it here because I figured most heavy users are android users with hacked hotspots. I currently have unlimited verizon grandfathered plan. Lately for the past year I've been noticing a high number of dropped calls and crappie data speeds only when I'm at work. It's fine at home. So I'm looking to get a unlimited grandfathered plan on ebay and just sell mine. Does att throttle your unlimited data and if so when typically and how slow are the speeds. I've Googled this but found different information stating some don't get throttled. Any ideas anyone? Thanks
I got throttled once and my speeds dipped pretty bad. But this was like 3 years ago and it hasn't happened ever since. Also my usage has been going up if anything with all of the streaming music and all.

I believe its supposed to be at 5gb. But I also heard that in saturated markets it could be lower.
Wow that's bad
I work for a retailer which sells AT&T, and have seen several accounts with unlimited data on one or more lines secretly notated that they are being throttled, sometimes with as little as 3.5GB of usage.
I got throttled at 5GB and then data speeds were so slow i literately could not use the internet.
I get throttled as soon as I hit 5gb and then the phone is useless because it's so slow.

It's funny I just did a speed test and got 51 mb upload and said so much for throttling. Then saw this post saying they cancelled the policy. I think Verizon is really starting to feel the heat from it's customers. A lot are jumping ship if they are in an area that supports other carriers and Verizon is feeling it. I am sure they have read online and received complaints about this throttling and were told if they did they would lose customers. It doesn't seem smart to upset the customers with out a contract that can leave at anytime.

Hats off to you. I'm impressed
So, for the heavy data users, is it mostly from using the phone as a mobile hotspot? If so, are there any elegant ways of integrating it into the home network? As in, extending it into the home WiFi. I get free internet as part of my poa, but when I move, it would be great if I don't have to pay for home internet and just run my computers off my phone's data plan.
