Using any modified revovery:
Put zip file on memory card
Reboot phone into recovery mode
Choose Install, then select your zip file and flash
Using Mobileuncle Tools on smartphone:
Extract zip file and put recovery.img on memory card
Inside app, select Update Recovery. Select recovery.img and confirm. Wait a while and when it asks if you want to reboot into recovery, select OK.
Recovery installation finished successfully. Now reboot phone and remove recovery.img from memory card.

Download this file for rooting your device;
Reboot phone into recovery mode;
Tap on Install and choose BETA-SuperSU-v2.52.zip (The file which you downloaded before);
Swipe to confirm flash;
After flashing, reboot your device.
P.S. Root method only works for Lollipop (Android 5.x) and not for KitKat (4.4.x). If you want to root your device, you have to upgrade to Lollipop. If many users will request root method for KitKat, I'll update the thread.

UPDATED: Added method of rooting (by intalling SuperSU via TWRP)

Hi, my Lenovo p70-a is with locked bootloader and non rooted. When I try to apply the method given I cannot get to the "install" menu in recovery mode. Is there any thing else I should do before the abovementioned given steps.
And also waht x32 and x64 stands for? Is it for the software - the Android OS or for the hardware - the CPU? I'm complete newbie and any help is highly appreciated!

Lenovo P70-a stuck on Select Boot Mode page
Hello
I have a p70-a
it was successfully rooted 3 years ago.
I have a recovery image which I recover whenever the phone stops working, which recovers all my apps and accounts which were installed prior to that image.
today it just rebooted to this page:
Select Boot Mode:
[VOLUME_UP to select. VOLUME_DOWN is OK.]
[Recovery Mode]
[FastBoot Mode]
[Normal Mode]
the curser just keeps moving downwards across these three options.
I can't choose from any of them.
I tried to disassemble the phone and reassembled it but still the same problem.
I'd appreciate your help.

[Q] Xoom Root Problems

A few days ago I decided that I wanted to root my Xoom, so I went by a guide on how to do it. ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1249798 )
I got into the bootloader, flashed on a new recovery, etc. Got the new kernal installed, so I reset my Xoom thinking I was done. Right now, it's stuck on the Motorola screen. Bring up the boot menu and try the recovery, it doesn't work. Tried the fastboot option, computer doesn't detect it. However, on the RSD mode, I did have some action with the computer. I'm not sure if it's a drivers issue, if the Xoom hates me... or what. :/
Anyone got any input on this?
I've done the following:
Used a different USB Cable
Used USBDeview to remove the drivers manually
Reset the Xoom using Vol up+Button on back
Ragequit, multiple times
Gone into Recovery, which led me to a Reading ODM Fuse: 1 screen where it stays
Tried the fastboot multiple times to no avail
Posted on xoomforums about this, no final answer.

Sounds like your relocked your bootloader, or you don't have a system image installed.
Start over from scratch - I used it to Root my Wifi Only Xoom and
my 4G LTE Xoom with no problems. Only took about 10mins - use this method:
Universal Xoom Root
Thats right, this method will work for any xoom on any update - Including future updates!!!
Note: Unlike the similar method floating around on here, this also gives you an unsecured boot image.
-- Please Note: this thread is still a work in process and has been sped up by the arrival of the 4g Xooms --
Current requirements: adb & fastboot have been setup and you have an external sdcard for your xoom.
1. Setting up adb & fastboot
Coming Soon! (If you want to write this section for me and pm me it, thats fine !)
2. Downloading the rooting-update zip file.
Download the zip file from here.
Now place this on your external sdcard. - Sorry this is a requirement at the moment, like I said this is a bit rushed.
3. Flashing recovery
1. Download this Recovery image. (put this image in the same folder that holds the adb.exe most likely tools or platform tools folder.)
2. If your device is locked, now is a good time to unlock it.
To UNLOCK -
Code:
adb reboot bootloaderfastboot oem unlockfastboot reboot
3. Flash recovery
Code:
adb reboot bootloaderfastboot flash recovery recovery-Tiamat-R4c-100611-1150-cwm.img
Once you have verification on your device that this has been flashed, reboot your device by holding volume up + power.
Then 3 seconds after you see the Motorola logo, hit volume down. You should now see "Android Recovery" in the top left corner. Hit volume up to boot into recovery.
4. Flashing the Xoom-Universal-Root.zip file.
If you're in clockwork mod recovery you can continue (This recovery image will say it is clockwork mod) . If you're not looking at clockwork mod, then you need to repeat step 3 again.
In cwm, go into "install zip from sdcard" -> "Choose zip from sdcard", then select the Xoom-Universal-Root.zip file you downloaded.
Note: use the volume buttons to navigate and the power button to select
Reboot your device and then welcome to your rooted device!
Now reboot into recover and flash a new ROM of your choice - I like this one:
[ROM][ICS] Team Eos ICS 1.0.0
Flash ROM then, do not reboot yet. Flash GApps right after ROM Flash then reboot!
Welcome to your rooted device!

It is safe. I have been using it on my Karbonn Titanium S6. I have also create CTR Touch recovery and TWRP Recovery for Karbonn Titanium S6. I will upload them if anybody needs.
The phone can become bricked for many reasons - It can become bricked if you try to flash wrong pre-loader in SP Flash Tools. So when you use SP Flash Tools, select only Recovery and de-select everything else. Also use only Download Only mode in the SP Flash Tools., other modes can overwrite memory and brick your phone.
pleas help me!!!
i dont press volume down to OK mode my phone is huawei y560 u02
please help me. his does not work for my phone. no download mode no recovry!!

I don't know. Do you have the full MM rom zip? My phone is still on 5.1.
Well, I do have it but your phone will have excessive battery drain while wifi is on. I'm trying to fix it but I think the problem is the wifi driver. And it will have the company's applications. I can send you the image but we have to keep it secret because I will be fired from the company. If you want I can make a pre rooted ROM to flash with cwm. The device has thousands of wakeups from the wifi Android system UI.

Team Win Recovery Project (TWRP) is an open-source software custom recovery image for Android-based devices. It provides a touchscreen-enabled interface that allows users to install third-party firmware and backup the current system, which are often unsupported by stock recovery images. It is, therefore, often installed when rooting Android devices, although it isn't dependent on a device being rooted to be installed.
Procedure:
First make sure you have installed proper drivers on your PC, then follow the flashing procedure.
1. Download and extract SP Flash Tool.
2. Download twrp-recovery.zip.
3. Open and run "flash_tool.exe" as administrator from Sp Flash Tool folder.
4. Click on the scatter loading button and select the scatter file from the twrp-recovery folder.
5. Click on download button and connect your smartphone to PC via USB cable and wait for the flashing process it will take 20-30 seconds.
Note: Switch off your smartphone before connecting to your PC then connect and do not interrupt the flashing process.
6. Boot into recovery by pressing VOL UP + POWER button.
7. Flash Latest Magisk Module (Prefer this for root over SuperSU)
8. Wipe Dalvik Cache and reboot the system.
Now, you have successfully installed TWRP on your mobile.

Could someone write me a complete guide or link me a well done? Thanks in advance!
Hi,
sorry english is not my native language.
Assuming you have a pc with windows,
1°) install alcatel drivers from your phone.
Download alcatel flasher
Download TWRP 3.1.1
Download SuperSU.
2°)put supersu on the phone sdcard
3°)reboot your phone in download mode (you have to press volUP + volDOWN during boot, it will bring you to the download mode page, press wolUP then). And plug-it to your pc.
4°)launch alcatel flasher

This part didn't work for me.

[edit] Hm weird... After a few tries, without changing any setting (??!) it finally worked, i am on TWRP recovery now
[edit] Rebooted. And i'm back to normal recovery again. What is happening?
OK. I was able to install TWRP. It is still there when i reboot in recovery mode.
I then installed superSU from SD card. Wiped cache/dalvik and rebooted.
Now i am stuck, the phone won't boot. It is not exactly looping, but it is stuck on the "Alcatel onetouch <-> smart move" white animation... and not going forward at all
Hi
Here my experience with this method : https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75479341&postcount=109
I managed to boot again, using Mobile Upgrade Q.
I found this on reddit
Download Decker's Sahara and Firehose (Alcatel Flasher), latest SuperSU and appropriate TWRP for your model (see xda). Follow the instructions on Decker's website to flash TWRP (to be safe backup the stock recovery partition first). Launch TWRP and make sure to mount /system only as read NOT rw. From TWRP's terminal type "echo SYSTEMLESS=true>>/data/.supersu" and then flash SuperSU zip. Reboot and you're rooted. Tested on my 6045Y. If you have questions pm me.

Those were the instructions I used to get systemless root on the stock Alcatel MM and regain fastboot which enabled me to flash with Lineage.
But this was before the latest "update" from Alcatel that users have been saying has stopped them from rolling back the adware on the system apps.
I'm running Ubuntu. Is there a way that I can do it with adb and fastboot?
