Anyway to disable update notification for a specific app? - General Questions and Answers

I have an app that I don't want to update. Any way to disable the market update notification?
I've found some old thread but the solution is quite involved.

Thanks

Just go to playstore and disable auto update, if it's from Samsung apps then do the same but on samsung apps.

Yes. But that still get the notification. Annoyance aside, if I'm not careful and click on update all, it will get updated. Is there a way not to even show the update notification?

Go to the Settings > Apps then select your app, Uncheck "Show Notifications" checkbox and done. Maybe that help you.

Try user Cevem's way, it could work. If not then please post a screen shot, that way it would be easier to know what the problem is exactly.

Sorry. I meant the notification from Google Play that an update is available. Not the notification from the app.

I've found 3C toolbox. Its unlink function appears to be permanent, compared to what TB does

[Q] Disable permanently 4.4.2 update notification.

If You don't want to upgrade, and You like to disable the update notification popup, then:
Go into your Android settings.
Click on apps.
Swipe right to "all".
Click on Google services framework and uncheck "notifications".
Edit: Seems, this still doesn't help with Moto G, MotorolaOTA uncheck "notifications" should be the right one.

How to ignore 5.0.1 update?

Guys my pop up notification for 5.0.1 has arrived. But I don't want to update. How can I get rid of the notification from constantly showing in my drop down bar? I've selected "later" but it keeps coming up every so often. I'm running a rooted N5 along with the brilliant XGels and Gravity Box. I really don't want to lose these great apps.

Download this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rs.autorun
Open in advanced mode, go into it's settings and enable for system apps.
Then in the UI (if its annoying, try in landscape), tap on Google Play Services and disable everything with "SystemUpdateService" in it.
Blocking the notifications from SystemUI/framework in Settings could block other system notifications, and it'll still download the OTA (download wakelock) until you take it.

Gravity box has settings for blocking notifications of apps. Use it.

The notification for 5.0.1 only occurs while on 5.0. Gravity Box is not an option.

Odd. I would think that you would get the 5.0 update notification first. If you're on 4.4.4 and not using ART, GB is definitely a way to go.
Like Lethargy said, use Autostarts to disable all the receivers with "system update service" in their name. That's the only way to completely block your phone from downloading the update without any wakelocks. Or the easy route would be to disable notifications from play services, but then the update will still be there, it just won't show up in your notifications tray.
I'm not sure about this.
Just hold the notification and then drag to App- Info and Force stop that .
If that works reply me.
Even I'm eager to know if it works.

There is no need to. When update notification appear go to GravityBox settings and block that notification (from play services). Thats all. You don't need any third party app for doing this.

Or you could long press the notification, use the app info menu and block the notifications for the play services, without using gravity box.

You could, but with time notification about update will appear again. That's because untick notification in stock settings will not block all notifications activity and you can't disable everything with "SystemUpdateService" as Lethargy descripted well.
On the other side, GravityBox will do this entirely.
Regards, Zagor
P.S. I do both off solution on my phone with 4.4.4 - Xposed, so thats why I'm so sure about it.

Apps being killed

Hi there,
is there a way to stop apps being killed?
Some of the apps, that I need to stay open, are being automatically killed in the background, even though there is enough RAM (2.2GB).
I went to battery settings or anything, but there is no option that I could find.
Any way to do it without root?
Regards

It's done differently on EMUI 8 devices.
Settings > Battery > App launch
Select your app, turn off the toggle so you get a pop-up called Manage manually. Make sure the three options are enabled (blue) then press the OK button.
This will stop the operating system from closing the app.

Might be Doze doing that then. Try playing with those settings:
Open the 'Settings' app
Select 'Apps and Notifications'
Select 'Apps'
Press the 'Settings' cog at the bottom of the screen
Select 'Special Access'
Select 'Ignore Battery Optimisation'

Did not know about that, will try it out, thanks!
Done this, app is still being closed, even when I opened it the evening before I went to sleep. It is an app that will alert me when someone is having a hart-attack in my neighbourhood. Quit annoying.
For EMUI 8, tried everything on mate9, any setting is useless to stop closing apps in background, only can do:
1. swift to apps using push notification
2. downgrade to EMUI5.0
3. rooting if possible.
What I have found is that if you lock the app in the open app manager window it won't kill it.

It's an app, so you can disable the system notifications from notification settings or just freeze the app.

I tried to disable the notification in settings but it says System Update these notifications can't be turned off, do you know the app name so I can freeze or remove it from system app/priv-app?

"System-Update"
Wow, this is exactly the question I wanted to ask.
Regarding method 1 (disabling the notifications), I can't find System-Update in Settings / Notifications / All apps.
That leaves method 2 (freezing). What tool do you suggest to do that?
I uninstalled Greenify because its hibernation was incompatible with Fingerprint unlocking (even with the 'slow method' enabled.)
EDIT: this seemed to work, is this a recommended way to do it?
- Open Titanium Backup Pro
- Tap the Backup/Restore tab
- At the top right, tap "Click to Edit Filters"
- Uncheck "User", check "System"
- Tap the green checkmark at the top right
- Scroll down to System Update 2.0.etc
- Tap Freeze

You need to enable the view of system apps within 1st method, otherwise only user apps are shown.
Freezing within TB works this way
Wow, fantastic. So I see that at the top right, there is a menu that lets you see system apps.
Awesome, thank you very much!!!
Well, I have found a new way. Using any root explorer, just go to system/app/OPBACKUP/ and rename OPBackup.apk to OPBackup.apk.bak and you are done...

Thank you! You helped me back with op 6. Any idea for op 8 pro, Android 11? They must have renamed the app, thank you!
You can use Titanium Backup to disable the updater...

Question Goodlock Registar notification

Hi all! Just downloaded new goodlock module, I searched but found nothing. Is there a way to remove the persistent notifications? In the settings the phone won't let me to disable them...

It can't be disabled, at the moment at least. It is greyed out in settings. You could potentially use an app like Tasker to dismiss it. I've tried the back tap feature but found it unreliable. I've used Registrar to prune menu and that works. Even if it took some time for setting to take
