After around two successful years of launching its Android app, Niki is jumping to the next level by introducing voice feature. Users will now be able to shop for products and a number of services using voice commands. To help shape it better, we are looking for beta testers who can talk to Niki and point out bugs, or suggest improvements!
About Niki
Niki is an AI-powered bot, which happens to be the pioneer in conversational commerce in India. One can pay bills, book movie tickets, buses, hotels, cabs and more by simply chatting with Niki. Our aim is to make Artificial Intelligence accessible to everyone i.e. Businesses and consumers. To consumers, it’s a simple and easy to use chat interface to shop for products and services. To the businesses, it provides a plug and play technology that can be easily integrated everywhere including operating systems, on messaging platforms like Facebook Messenger, and on the brand’s applications (app and web).
One chatbot to rule them all
With around 40+ merchants on board for multiple services, Niki is a one stop shop for everything commerce. Keeping Niki installed, one can replace over 10-15 apps on his/her phone and get tasks done via a single chat window interface. Apart from being an all-in-one shop, Niki aims to be present everywhere. After a Messenger Bot and an Android app, we’re ready to explore other messaging platforms like Slack, and also have plans for an iOS app in the future.
Voice feature
2017 is being called the year of Artificial Intelligence. Although the technology is being explored since years, the new developments have been exciting. Big players such as Google, Apple and Amazon already have their voice-controlled assistants for you. And even when there is immense scope for improvements, they are definitely helping make life easier. The virtual assistants are at your service as soon as you blurt out a command.
Similarly, ordering and making transactions on chat has been a much easier option. We wish to make it even more fun, time-saving and convenient for the end-users, by letting them talk to Niki and get things done.
For this to be successful, we definitely need your help with testing and feedback to improve accuracy and efficiency. Niki learns and becomes smarter as she talks to people! Join the next revolution by being a part of Niki’s foray into voice-controlled commerce!
To test
Once you join the beta community, we’d be really grateful if you could help us with the following tasks:
Try booking a free event using the voice command feature
Ask Niki to find buses from a source to a destination on a particular date
Ask Niki to show you nearby restaurants or ATMs
Try different queries which you would want Niki to help you with
Try asking Niki for offers running on the app
Become a beta user
Provide Feedback

Virtual Orienteering - Let's have some fun

Well I'm here on this forum for a while now, since I bought my HTC Polaris device. During my staying here I never really helped the community in any way... I just asked questions and tried all the ROMs I got my hands on. Even now, my old Polaris gives me great satisfaction running Froyo better then the WinMo
I've become a Android developer and tried to made a application that uses GPS. It's all about orienteering for now, but later we're trying to improve things. The whole idea is about executing on field a track that has some check points, as fast as possible using you device and optionally a Compass.
Right now the application is in beta stage, still some bugs to fix. If you are interested in becoming a member of the close beta testers group, please read further details in here: VOrienteering
It's easy and free for everyone.

Hey I sent you a PM, but I forgot to mention what device I have. HTC Evo. Hope to hear from you soon!
I just answered to you.
I want to KINDLY thank egzthunder1 for making the announce here http://www.xda-developers.com/android/play-and-be-active-with-virtual-orienteering-for-android/
Allow me to quote egzthunder1 which described very well the application's scope in Android applications area.
If you are as clueless as I am about this whole concept, the first thing that you may have thought is: “there is a typo in the article’s title”. As it turns out, this is an outdoor activity where people will determine a path to follow and will try to make it in the least possible amount of time. This can be done either walking, by bicycle, or car, a good sense of orientation, a map, and a good compass.

Hey there XDA-type People!
About a year ago (May 2011), me and my friend were in a Subway trying to think of what to get when I had an incredible idea for an app: one that randomly chooses a list of ingredients and creates a completely random sandwich for you to eat. It solves the indecisiveness problem and provides a bit of an adventure. So, that week, I sat down and I wrote this app. After I was done, I posted it on Facebook, gave it to friends and forgot about it.
Well, here it is. Almost one year after it's development, here's a public release:
From my site's description:
SandwichRoulette is an application designed for the indecisive. Like many people, my lunch has been delayed because of my inability to decide on what to put in my sandwiches. This application, designed for Android-powered phones running 2.1 and higher, automates the ingredient choosing process. Creations can be saved and later versions will support sharing the particularly delicious ones.
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Features Include:
Saving/Loading/Deleting of Sandwich Creations
Exclusion of certain ingredients or sauces/spreads/condiments
Shake to randomize
Cryptographically secure randomized sandwiches
Delightful wit
Known Issues:
No i18n. English only. I'll translate it into French and German at some point and then Google Translate it into other languages after that.
I haven't tested it on a tablet, so let me know!
Download it below
or (because I'm a nice person):
Mediafire link: SandwichRoulette version 1.5
Get it on the Google Play Store
I have also published it to the Play Store and will post a link as soon as Google has finished processing it.
Github: https://github.com/maxfierke/sandwichroulette/
Love the app? Buy me coffee.
Screenshot because attachments seem to be derpin':
Such a great app! Use it whenever im indecisive on my sammich needs!
Y'all can now viciously scrutinize my Android app writing abilities. I posted a link to the project on github in the first post.
I assure you, I'm a much better Java programmer than an Android app programmer. I'm still learning the Android SDK & API.
seems like an interesting application.
Well, now the guy behind the counter at Subway won't have to get so impatient with me
Holy hell, this is an amazing idea! I can never figure out what I want on my Subway sandwhiches. Now I will!
edit: After using the app for a bit, will the possibility of being able to randomize only certain aspects of the snadwich become available? say just the main parts, like the Base, Bread, and Cheese would be the same, but have the ingredients be randomized? Or the other way around? I'mm looking forward to the sharing feature, though!
Holy hell, i need to grow up I just thought about ChatRoulette + "Sandwich", if you know what i mean.

I'll plan on adding that. It sounds like a good idea.
New in Version 1.5:
Sandwiches are now stored in an SQLite database instead of text files on the SD card.
Allow deletion of sandwiches.
Added the ability to randomize sandwiches by shaking the device.
Added caesar dressing and hummus options.
Changed about dialog to it's own separate screen with app info, creation info, and the GNU GPL.
Added short SandwichRoulette splash screen.
Using cryptographically secure way to randomize sandwich.
With this release, SandwichRoulette is now on the Play Store.
Get it on the Google Play Store
Non-Play Store download is in the OP.

- Any network, any carrier
- Uses very small amount of data
- Crystal clear audio / adaptive noise cancellation
- Automatic configuration
- It's live voice, not 'store and forward' voice notes like with other apps
- Easy on your battery
- Private teamwork network only for your teammates
LONG DESCRIPTION
Create a place for your fast transactional teamwork: "We're in the back," "start it now," "where's the hammer," "which box did you say?" For quick conversations like these at work, school, or home, Sonica accelerates teamwork by avoiding typing, ringing, voicemail, conference calls, shouting, or any other "system" you use today.
We designed Sonica for modern collaboration in the real-time group environment. That means being discrete at times, lively in others, and ensuring the conversation ebbs and flows at your own tempo. For this, unlike a regular walkie-talkie, Sonica's innovative "pause and stay quiet" feature lets you mute on app exit but replay everything you missed later. Stay connected and receive live voice when anyone speaks, or remain undisturbed and just listen later. It's up to you.
Sonica is engineered to take the hits day after day and not just be a toy. Enjoy crystal clear voice even under poor network conditions due to adaptive echo cancellation, background noise suppression, and other advanced features working intelligently behind the scenes to keep your communications broadcasting across your team reliably.

Contacts
Your APP is nice, I love the interface ! I like the concept to talk with lot of people. But i cant add contact.
I send a invitation to a personnal contact, he dowloads your app and we cannot add eatch other...
@Totolouis, thanks so much for your feedback and for trying to connect with your colleague! I am going to immediately look into why you did not find each other. We rely on a variety of techniques to make this automatic, but I suspect that phone number matching from your country might have a logic problem. I will update you asap once I figure this out.
European numbers
@Totolouis, (and others) I posted an update, version 1.0.5, to Google Play which fixes this issue for our European friends! Please update to v1.0.5 and then go to 'add contacts --> import address book' and should be ok.
APK outside Google Play?
Do you mostly use Google Play for app downloads or do you like there also to be a generic .apk download available? What do other developers do? We will post a generic .apk if you feel it is useful.

[CLOSED][APP] [PRM/CRM] ContactShip - personal relationship management for everybody

Dear XDA-developers Forum!
I want to introduce my app project to you.
Maybe you like to try it out and give me Feedback?
We launched at the Google Play Store a few weeks ago:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.contactship.app
---------
ContactShip helps to:
stay in touch with family, friends and acquaintances
and to spot toxic relationships faster and to avoid them
How it works:
You use it instead of the standard address book of your device and you can store and structure different types of information about the people you know.
This information is used for:
reminders to stay in contact
hints for the next conversation
cross-contact-analysis.
and to highlight good and bad relations.
This makes it easier to plan and enjoy your next interactions with the people around you.
---------
What type of information you can manage:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Nearly everything! Occasions, interactions, contacts, contact details, descriptions, likes, dislikes, wishes, dreams, social links between contacts, group memberships etc.
And we use different dimensions to ensure a good overview:
Views, categories, time stamps, ratings, markings, automated lists
Our goal was to be as flexible as possible but still keep enough structure to have benefits of it.
---------
Some screen shots:
There is no advertisement inside the app and moste features are free to use.
Maybe one or the other of you will like the idea.
I'm happy to answer questions here in the forum.
Here's the download link again:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.contactship.app
I look forward to your feedback!
Thank you all!
Best,
Matthias
Will be testing this app and reporting back to you with my findings. This looks promising!
Thank you! Looking forward to your feedback
The problem:
“What was this girl’s name I met last Wednesday? I know I wrote down her name and number … “
Contact Apps only display names and numbers. Therefore it's impossible to identify a person if you don't know his or her name anymore.
The solution:
“Sort contacts by created descending” sorts your contacts according when you saved them in the ContactShip app.
This makes it possible to identify new contacts even if you haven’t saved the interaction in their contact history.
What’s behind it:
ContactShip saves the creation date for new contacts automatically and you can use it later on.
What advice would you give yourself if you could go back to when you first started?
My advice would be to spend a lot of time to build an audience while you develop your product. I'm very happy with our app itself, but we lack on public reach. If people don't know it, they won't use it.
My mistake was to care about building audience and getting followers first after the launch because legal preparations, concepts, testing etc. ate my work time.
We still only have a few hundreds followers on most social channels and our community grows slowly but steadily. And it is very difficult to get in contact with the media if you don't have personal connection. And people with good connections want a lot of money to help you.
If I could go back I would spend 1/3 of my time on audience and followers.
