Hi, I'm looking at the H1 to do me for 6 months when I'll pick up the Nexus 6P successor, how did you find it? I've read a few reviews online but not much information about prolonged use. I'm coming from a galaxy note 4 (now broken) and have never owned a mid range smartphone so I'm unsure what to expect. does it run smoothly with a few apps open? app switching? multiple chrome tabs open? a few games here and there (not the most demanding of games though).
thanks

First, you have to remember that Cubot H1 has a MTK quad-core processor clocked 1 MHz. I think it's not the same league as processors in SG Note4 or Nexus 6P . Secondly, I can't live without root access. I use Greenify application, which makes RAM usage between 500MB - 1GB . I have installed 3 games : Angry Birds - Transformer, Traffic Rider , NFS No Limits. No problems. The same with open few tab in Chrome browser. Smartphone still working as a first day. Personally, I have slowly looking around for a successor, but doesn't find worthy . Battery 5000mAh and 5,7' screen is the absolute min, LED notifications , dual-sim, SD card slot (no hybrid), blinking buttons below the screen, mini-jack, plus USB on the top of the unit. Cubot work with Android 5.1. Probably I would wait (on the new smartphone) for Android N. Are you checked Ulephone Power?

[Q] How hot does this device get?

I recently bought a Surface Pro 2 and I was unhappy with this device because surfing the Web, using One Note, playing light games like Zombie Tsunami for 5mins caused the the device to get warm/hot. I'd say the temperature of the device was in the 40s-60 range. The device felt more like a laptop than a tablet.
I saw this device and realized I want something I can watch videos for at least 1-2 hours, browse the web, take notes/draw, play games without reaching the above temperatures given above.
So my question is, does this device get as hot as the Surface Pro 2? Does it overheat?
Please advise, Thank You!
You appear to be misunderstanding something. 40-60ºC isn't overheating. 80-100ºC is overheating. These are powerhouse devices with hardware that, when used in a pc or laptop, would require a heavy duty fan to keep them cool. They're not 1.4Ghz singlecores, they're 2.5Ghz Quadcores with their plastic shell as the only heatsink.
Watching films (1080p MKV) doesn't cause much of a heat increase at all. (About 5ºC). Ditto for writing/drawing. Gaming depends on the type of game. If I play Doodle God, it barely heats up at all over 4 hours. If I play Oh Edo! Towns (Kairosoft), it goes up to 45ºC within 20 minutes. (It doesn't go much higher than that, even at an ambient room temp of 35ºC and 4 hours) No negative effect on the device from it though, these things are safe up to 80ºC before they start lagging.

Battery (screen time)

I have never used a 3k mAh battery(phone) before and now that i have i cant really see a big change here are the stats
1. 20% battery after 10 hours.
2. Screen time 5 hours.
3.call time 40 mins
4. I am connected to wifi all day so whenever my screen is on its either i am surfing net or using any other internet apps
5. No game played
These are the status for today (usually same other days too)
If anyone of u can take out some time to reply abt if ur guys are getting the same or almost same charge time or is it only me
Mine screem time always exceeds 6.30hrs and i play games
Between 5-6 hrs of screen-on time on all-day wifi, 20-30 mins of 2G calls, an hour of gaming, an hour of YouTube or music, and the rest of the time wasted on social networking & other apps, and in taking a LOT of photos.
There have been days where i've seen 7 hrs of SOT, but that was when the phone wasn't loaded with as many apps as it is now. Now its mostly around 5 hours on moderately heavy usage and just over 6 on days when i only text & browse the web.

Battery usage- not effective
Dear friends,
I hear you all talking about battery usage, and i am wondering if anything is wrong with my phone.... who knows... but i would like to report that, yes , indeed the screen time is reaching the 5 hours but the battery has been reduced from 90% to 15% and only using facebook and videos and the music player!!!! OMG!!!! I Mean OMG!!!
Where did you came up with 5 hours with youtube plus gaming plus facebook plus talking plus plus ????
To my humble belief the battery needs to save more energy. !!!! At the moment i dont have any tool to monitor if all 8 processors are runnning at the same time, but i am pretty sure that they do run together for everything! BUT actually they dont need to run !!! Especially when the phone is used only for facebook webrowsing and all these applications.!!!!!
all cores must be triggered and be fully working when you are using high end graphic games and stuff! Why all this battery is running for such small applications @???@@@@!!!!!?????????
I am not sure if anyone knows any solution on how to deactivate all these cores, but if there is swomebody i would appreciate it if he really did as it is a pitty all this battery to go wasted JUST AND ONLY FOR the purpose of just alll 8 cores running at the same time WITHOUT ANY LOGICAL REASON!!!!
This phone has amazing poetntials!!!! AMAZING POTENTIALS if it to be reprogrammed and debloated by developers such as yourselfs!! If i knew how i would immediatelly start searching for a solution to all these issues!!! There are much more issues than that and for this phone specs the capabilities are being wasted!!! It needs to be debloated and may other things that will enable this phone to become a big GADGET in the market as a low cost and proper phone that it its!
Please for your replies

I have left this phone on overnight for 7 hours with WiFi and 4G connections, starting with 100% charge. Periodically my phone would have been checking for new podcasts but other than that it wasn't doing anything.
On my Moto G 4G, the battery dropped from 100 to 93%.
On the Mi 4i it only dropped to 97%, which could be the much larger battery, but it might also be the CPU returning quickly to a deep sleep state as it can finish tasks quicker.
In day to day usage I haven't found it hugely better in terms of battery life but I think that's because the screen is a lot larger and also has far more pixels which places a greater requirement on the GPU.
I use the GSam Battery Monitor app and have attached a screenshot from this as well as from the MiUi6/Android graph.

Hi,
Wouldn't it be much more nicer though the fact of developing a new rom that the user will be able to do all these stuff ( i mean overclocking/underclocking, play with colors saturation and setting as well as eliminating all the process that prevent the phone from keeping the battery for 2 days! (that is even with wi fi use!)
Cause if you think about it , we are not far from previous low end generation phone that the used single core and much more less characteristics in order to run the exact same application on the same level, but in a lower graphics environment. Also look at samsung note 4 hibernation mode, that would be a development for this phone as well and keep the phone lasting for 30 days!
From one point of view we are talking with an open world of software, why not having these abilities why do we have to waste drain battery with no reason what so ever. ???
I think you know what short of improvements i am talking about and these would be accompanied perfectly with this phone specs.
what do you think guys?
i want your point of view, maybe i am not saying everything correctly.
Thanks

Yes that would be nice and I guess ASOP roms have all those features wat you are asking about. A new rom would be nice but miui keeps on fixes minor bugs I don't think mi would provide us that rom in near future and noone really likes to wait so everyone roots their phone and tweaks it xposed framework is one of the best thing after rooting

i have rooted my mi 4i but i cannot adjust only using two out of the eight cores for everything in order to achieve battery reduction.... there is non such application neither kernel development of any short hat allows you to change the kernel setting to how-many number of cores you would like.
But if you know any other way i would be most happy to hear about it my friend.

why are you asking this though? how does this relates to the core programming and usage, do you know any software to downclock and use only two cores only? that would be the benefit to the story,

Well coz Dev ROM sucks the battery so I thought that might ur case yes u can under clock the processor and ur devices must be rooted for it since the kernel source is out I guess we shd wait for a new ROM i am sure someone would include that feature in the ROM

If someone have root can use "Tweaks For Mi 4i . Fast Charge, No Lagging, Fix issues. For Any ROM" thread from en.miui page to get more standby. I used Tweak your cpu. Phone was coller and by night it used about 3%. Now on V7 I'm not sure it works but that ROM got a lot wakelocks from enything. By night it used 5%.

Anyone had doubts between: Xiaomi Mi4C & Asus Zenphone 2 (and can share)?

Hi,
Curretnly i'm on the G3 and i dont like it much.
Thinking on 1 of these:
Xiaomi Mi4C
Asus Zenphone 2
Now, I asking that in Mi 4C Thread bc's i thinking that there is some people that might had this.
What do you think?
Thanks!
It comes down to preference really as I dont really like phones bigger than 5" and xiaomi is quite established. Its got the right size, ir blaster and a good SOC which should get good rom support, cm12.1 already available
Where are you based? The Global version of the Zenphone 2 has band 20 which the Mi 4c doesn't have (may be able to be unlocked manually but I'm doubtful). The Zenphone also has expandable storage which the Mi 4c lacks - you may already be used to this and the larger form factor due to currently using the G3. That said, I've heard (but cannot personally verify) that the Zenphone has erratic battery life and performance in addition to being more expensive than the Mi 4c.
ermacwins & wingsfortheirsmiles,
I got used to 5.5" so this is not an issue at all...
I from Israel and LTE bands are 1800 & 2600.
So from my understanding, both of them would work, right?
32gb are more than I need, so the expandable storage is not too important.
If the Zenphone do has erratic battery life and performance, it's a good reason to go for the Mi4C, isn't?
Anyone else suffered or heard on it?
Thanks very much!

Well, my Mi4C had battery drain. Around 3%/hour on idle with WiFi and 4G all off, so when I woke up a third of my battery was already gone. I ended up fixing it by flashing the international ROM but after that, I've been getting 5 hours of SoT which is great. Can't comment on the battery of the Zenfone.
Regarding the battery problem:
Looks like it could different between your's to anyone else.
I read a review in a site in my country and the person who made the review praise the battery life.
Thanks!
My Mi4c has very good battery life. The same like the z1 compact i had. Other phones i had i charged sometimes more than 2 times a day.
The zenfone 2 has worse battery life, build quality and performance. If you don't mind the SD card and 5" screen then the Mi4C is your phone. Zenfone 3 could be very interesting when (should be kinda soonTM) it gets released though!
Thank you all!
Go for the Mi4C.
P.S: A newer model of Mi series also coming soon?
How abt Redmi note 3?
No battery issue with my Mi4C. Left it idle for most part of the day with cellular and Wi-Fi connected the whole time and managed 0.7% / hour idle time. I also have many apps installed (not facebook or any messaging apps though). It's rooted and greenified, running original stable Chinese Miui 7 Rom with some Chinese bloat apps removed. It's also scoring 52K on antutu 6.

Processing power wise, ZenFone 2 (the high end 32 GB internal memory with 4 GB RAM model) is comparable to Mi4C, the GPU is even slightly better. However, when it comes to video recording, ZenFone is waaaaay below Mi4C. The still image, if you use latest firmware, is already fixed though. Note that due to the use of Intel processor, some apps that use native libraries might not be installable. Ensure your apps are architecture-neutral or have both arm and intel version available.
OTOH, Mi4C has thermal issues and I still can't find the best thermal configuration so far. This causes the cores, both CPU and GPU, get shutted down or their upper limit is decreased to lower down the temperature. I break this limit by changing the limit a little bit higher, but if you play games while charging the phone, my best record reaches 90° C. Hot enough for a sleep killer tea
Happy deciding!
Having owned both phones i can say the Zen2 is a dud. The screen is dim, the speaker is weak, some apps drain crazy battery as they are using an ARM emulator to run on x86. It wobbles on the desk and the battery dies after your lunch break. The camera has low exposure that makes everything look darker than it is. The Mi4c just works like you expect a flagship to do.

I dont believe in 90° C unless your phone is borked and termal throttling doesnt work, also phone would shut down anyway with that temperature.

It is, well the screenshot I have is 87 actually in one of the many thermal zone (they're all varying from 60 or so) but during that time I did see and feel 90 (as a hot tea drinker, I know how hot is 90). Thankfully I have a flip cover that absorbs the heat, but if you touch the scree, it's really damn hot. Thermal throttling doesn't work on my device, because I've disabled the thermal driver :cyclops:
I don't really know the actual upper limit, but I guess it should be around 100-120. My PC was 120, but I don't think smartphone's SoC will differ much.

Hahaha, worry not, it's been back to normal temp (30-50). The problem only happens if you play resource intensive games while charging.
My last phone Mi4i also reached ~90°C after playing with the thermal engine. The flashlight turned on in the pocket of my pants and burned for half an hour. I just noticed it because my leg got hotter and hotter luckily the phone wasnt damaged through this. Also, i think the CPU can handle these temperatures without being damaged, but i would worry about other phone components such as SD Card, battery or glued components
Sorry, my antutu 6 score for my Mi4c was 685xx, not 52k.

Question Poco X3 Pro state

Hi, I am thinking to buy x3 Pro, but at first i want to know if all problems are already fixed.
I read a lot of comments about problems, but most of these comments are 3+ months old, so...
1) under load it gets very hot. Throttling...
Just by running Antutu benchmark few times, you see how score drops over 100K.
2) Touch issues
3) lags in games, Laggy UI, delay when scrolling
4) fast battery drain
5) network Issues, unstable data connection
6) unexpected shutdowns, screen freezes
7) back panel vibration when audio is playing
There are more, but these are most common.
I hope most of these problems come from their "amazing" MiUI, and can be fixed.
I can only confirm point 7 but it's not so noticable unless you are banging music at high volume.
No heat issues but then i'm not running Antutu over and over. No touch issues here but some people mentioned it. Laggy UI? First time hearing this lmao. It's butter smooth even on MIUI. I get 3 days of battery life with 10h SoT on average with 120Hz, i dont think it's bad.. plus i'm using navigation (GPS) and camera quite abit, you can probably get more than that easily. Never had any network or random shutdown issues (almost 20 days uptime, since last update of ArrowOS) probably some people with magisk / mods reported it.

I would agree, although I'm not going so good SoT (but since I'm a light user I still get very good battery life).
Never forget that people report issues, not good experiences. If you look at each indvividual grievance, you'll never buy any phone anyway
"i'm not running Antutu over and over"
It's just one of ways to put your phone under load and immediately see/compare results.
Many smartphone reviewers do this test to see if phone will throttle.
Check this video:
I found video where we can see x3 pro from inside.
On the left is x3 NFC and on the right x3 Pro.
Very interesting decision for x3 pro.
There is copper tape, instead of metallic plate.
Plus, you see that thermal paste is only on memory (3x pro).
If they don't use paste and there is not enough pressure then heat will not be dissipated by pipe.
And here you can see how much they use thermal paste between tape and pipe.
3 small lines on CPU and a bit for memory.
Just look how much more contact surface is on x3 NFC.
Now i understand why x3 pro is so hot.
If your x3 pro is not hot, then you are lucky (there is enough pressure/paste).
If you are not lucky, then idk. It's faulty phone.
1. Yes, the phone gets really hot, but that is only while gaming, especially when on mobile data. I just bought a cheap cooler and everything is fine
2. I had problems on AncientOS only, now on Crdroid i dont have it
3. Games dont lag, ofc u cant play Genshin Impact maxed out, but overall the gaming experience is smooth. On Crdroid i have no problems with scrolling, but i also use Samsung Browser and Relay for Reddit, Chrome and Reddit app were laggy even on custom roms
4. Battery drain is a problem of MIUI, on custom roms i get 8-10h of screen time from 100-20%, but i feel like i should get more than 2-3h of gaming
5. & 6. No problems
7. Yes, the back of the phone vibrates while listening at max volume, which is to be expected with how loud the speakers are and i dont see how this is a problem. Did the people who complain about this ever hold a speaker? Even overhead headphones vibrate while listening at high volume.

wait, only 2-3 hours of gaming and battery is empty?
"Yes, the phone gets really hot, but that is only while gaming"
I think we all will agree that it shouldn't be like this. Either Chipset is hotter than they expected and cooling solution used in older models can't handle it. In this case they had to slightly undervolt/downclock. Or they have huge % of faulty phones (cooling problem) and they simply close eyes on it.
But maybe it all goes by the plan. They know that chip will be hot, but it's fast and it's enough to get good sales.
Yes, its around that, but i mostly play CoD mobile and Wild Rift maxed out, so that might play into that.
I also agree that the cooling solution isn't that good to use this phone to the max and no update will ever fix it without a performance drop. Honestly this device would have been better suited with a SD855, the SD860 is too hot for the device, or at least the body of the phone didnt allow for a better cooling solution. But i guess they didnt want to have a 2 years old chip in a new phone, even if overall that would allow the phone to work faster for a longer period of time.

It's not normal. It's defect, same as cooling system.
Here you can see comparison with Redmi Note 10 Pro at max volume.
Being honest i really dont mind it, actually i enjoy it, the speakers feel powerful.
I feel many of the bugs described on first post and I find it a real shame what POCCO has done with this phone. Cheap phone? Yes! Powerfull? Yes! and... It works as expected? No!
On the other side, there are more than 10 different ROMs available for this phone and most of them are the same. Same bugs and same problems but with different skin.
I loved this phone but after see how it evolves, i feel like i did a bad investiment. Next time i will go for Realme.

I had some of the these issues when I was on miui and before unlocking BL. Phone gets warm during gaming which is perfectly normal and on par with other phones.
I sold my galaxy note 10+ for poco x3 pro, it was the best decision I made this year. Gaming got better with no throttling on custom rom, more fluid, better battery life, native google ui.

how many hours you can play games, or watch videos?
For example, on Realme 8 you can play pubg 6-7 hours (14%/h). On poco x3 pro, around 4 hours (23%/h) But can you squeeze 6+ gameplay hours from x3 pro on lower settings?

I haven't tested that long prolonged gameplays. My comment was against my previous phones - galaxy note 10+ and black shark 2 and it easily lasts for 2 days for my usage. But 4 hrs in 23%/h is still a good life, isn't it? don't get killed yourself playing for so long

Pointless comparison, Realme 8 SoC is about twice slower. It's like comparing if Ferrari or Volkswagen Golf will empty their fuel tanks first. Ofcourse Ferrari will but there is a reason for that. Not to mention 120 vs 60 Hz screen.

Dude turn off this "protective" mode. I am not comparing, i am asking question.
I understand, you own this phone and it's most amazing thing you ever had.
"It's like comparing if Ferrari or Volkswagen Golf"
Reality is that there are more powerful phones on smaller batteries and they live way longer then poco x3 pro. For example poco F3 with 4520 mAh. Even if x3 pro has 5160 mAh, it's battery is empty at point where F3 has more then 20%. And both phones has 120Hz screens. Only difference is that F3 has amoled display.
k3lcior, i am asking question (it's not comparison): why F3 with smaller battery lives way longer? Is it because of amoled display? Is it because of chip which is hot as hell? or?
if we compare processors:
Snapdragon 870 vs Snapdragon 860: tests and benchmarks
We put Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 against Snapdragon 860 to find out which SoC is better. See performance comparison in benchmarks and games.
nanoreview.net
we see that "Efficiency of battery consumption" is the same, so problem shouldn't be in cpu.
so, amoled display does all magic?
I'm not defensive and no it's not most amazing thing i ever had. And yes you are not comparing, but you are asking to compare no?

It does save battery when there are blacks on the screen because they are not 'powered' on AMOLED screens on that large screen it can make large difference. There are also more small details which also can make some difference for example SD card slot, Poco F3 doesn't have one and Poco X3 Pro has one which has to be powered at all times.
Not to mention GSM signal, small signal difference can easily make several % battery life difference which can be easily manipulated hence why these comparisons are idiotic.
And btw. here is less than 40 min. difference in battery life from what i see.
Edit: Also UFS 3.1 in Poco F3 is more power efficient compared to UFS 3.0 in X3 Pro.
Question was, if on poco x3 pro you can squeeze out 6+ hours of pubg gameplay (even on low quality).
Everything else was just additional info.
Why i am asking? Many poco x3 pro owners wrote that battery life is bad. I am trying to understand if problem is software based, or hardware. If software, it can be fixed, if hardware, then you have powerful phone with bad battery life. If F3 and X3 Pro are both on the same soft, then seems that problem is hardware based (IPS screen).
I saw this test and F3 has 24% of battery when x3 pro dies:

You will find people write this for every single phone there is on a planet. I already said what can make battery life difference between the 2 phones and it's not only screen, try reading again.

dude you are so toxic.. im out.
Actually I find your attitude toxic. You make some good points but you listen to nothing!
I could tell you that the phone is great, that your points are somehow valid but not really IRL. I'm afraid of your attack though.
Good luck with the phone.

Question Hdmi out

Hello, this phone has an HDMI output? I have read in many sites that say yes and in others that say no
Yes, it has. You need to buy the original Blackshark HDMI cable from their website.
what?
it doesn't work with any regular usb-c > hdmi or usb-c multihub (hdmi,pd,usb,rj45) hubs?
i would also need LAN for stutter free gamestreaming( via moonlight)
I guess any USB-C to HDMI should work. Will confirm once I received the device.
Hey Folks my black shark 4 global Rom supports hdmi with any cable through my usb/Hdmi powered hub.
The only problem I'm trying to fix atm is i can run mouse & keybourd and hdmi simultaneously no worries but no power pass through if i do.. If i plug the power cable in the hdmi works, but then i cant connect mouse and keybourd so its either or..
i have a rooted note 9 (sm n960f) that work perfectly with hdmi, charging, mouse and keybourd all at once.
Any help would be much appreciated and happy to donate/pay for the fix cheers all.
I just got one Black Shark 4
I can confirm that HDMI outputs works fine with unofficial USB-C/HDMI cables
Unlike Samsung DEX you can just mirror the screen without any options.
But that's fine to play emulators games with your friends I guess
Sorry for the off topic.
How the battery life friend?

How's the battery life friend? How many % per hour of emulation ?
I am about to purchase this device and one thing that concerns me is the battery life (i'm coming from a OnePlus 7, which offered some 3 hours of relatively demanding emulation with 5 % left on battery)
Thanks!
Hello @RaduNastase
I got the phone just 2 days ago and I had no time to play with emulation yet.
So far I'm very happy of the phone for a standard usage.
I played Fortnite at 30FPS and max details without any issues.
The battery seems to last arround 2 days if you just go to the Internet and don't play.
I will play more this weekend and tell you how long the battery is lasting.

The battery Capacity for BS4 & BS4pro is the same 4500mAh.
Based on my testing with BS4pro, the emulations generally sustain among 5~7hr at normal usage conditions, whether using higher resolution (2x-3x) or Bluetooth controller with CPU temp 46~50 C (FPS performance is dependable on game combability list). However, FPS is stable at almost 60 with CPU temp 18~27 C.
HDMI out with cable or Docking station results with 1080p/60FPS (BS4Po) due to low wattage of USB power almost 15~20W.
Sorry for late reply, battery life on the black shark 4 was fantastic the SD 870 was quite the chip...
I've sold it due to needing a 512gb storage option and I have a Asus ROG 5s 16gb 512g model now.. so I can try and compare them.
The 870 was much more battery efficient even with the smaller 4500mah battery compare to the new ROG 5s which has 6000mah...
I guess the sd888+ sucks a lot more juice out of the battery (even on standby) when testing emulators and PUBG new state (60fps for now) and mobile legends @ (120fps) was pretty similar In real world tests...
Hope this helps you decide
In the end i went for a Rog 3 (12/512).
The battery is good, especially in heavy usage (~ 5:30 hours of continuous play at 3x resolution with Aethersx2 ps2 emulation for one charge), though not as consistent in stand by as my previous OnePlus 7.
I guess Black Shark 4 is still a great phone to consider for anyone interested.
