Galaxy S6 Edge *plus* update to Marshmellow? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

A few questions. First off, is there a forum dedicated to the S6 Edge Plus? Or is S6 Edge and S6 Edge Plus pretty much the same softwarewise?
Secondly, when will Sprint update the S6 Edge Plus to Marshmellow? I swear Sprint takes forever.
But I'm also getting pretty ancy here. There are a number of things with the stock ROM that I'd like to change but can't unless I root. For example, when you raise the volume when on Bluetooth at about 75% it stops and gives you a dialog box warning you of listening too loudly. At Sprint! I have another volume knob on my car. I can control the volume there. There's also a volume on my Bluetooth headset. Stop stopping me from setting the volume to 100%. Can I turn this off? NO! Not unless you're root. Well that stupid!
Another case, when the phone starts charging either from plugging it in or on a wireless charger it beeps indicating it's charging. But it also lowers the volume of whatever is playing, does it's little beep then raises the volume. It's interruptive at best! Can I turn off this beep? Nope. Not unless your root!
But from what I understand it may be even more difficult to root this particular phone. Plus if you root you won't get updates so I'd never get Marshmellow then. Yes I know I can install a custom ROM and then manage things. That's a bother I'd wish to avoid. But the real kicker is that if I root then Samsung Pay will stop working (and probably Android Pay too) and I don't really want to lose that.
Oh carriers - why do you restrict things like turning off a beep or a stupid warning requiring the users to either root or just live with it and why do you take forever to update your phones?!? It's maddening.
So looking for advice on my issues listed above.

here is the sprint 928p (galaxy S6 edge +) forum
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s6-edge-plus
the android 6.0 beta has gone out to a few UK S6 and S6 edges but not our variant, nor any US 925/925p
if you are new to the whole flashing phone biz...get to know chainfire...do alot more research man!:good:
IF YOU DONT KNOW ANY OF THIS......
please dont flash or modify your phone. you are not ready yet.
stay safe and enjoy your stock phone for what it is
You are metaphorically sitting on the fence line, you want root features yet you don't want to root due to some apps not working while rooted...
why not run two roms...one stock and another rooted the way you like. make twrp backups

[Q] Low speaker output/Volume

I have a gsm galaxy s6 in the UK
To me the loudspeaker output volume is low, certainly lower than the first one i had and im wondering if its anything to do with a recent update.
To explain further, when the s6 was first released i had one of each (s6 and s6 edge) and the handset was on 5.0.1
I was not entirely convinced by the handset and decided to return them and go back to my iphone 6. One of the things i was really impressed with on the handset though was the speaker output. I remember this particularly as it really stood out and i can remember that when playing music or watching youtube that even on 1/2 volume it seemed as loud as any other phone i had used with plenty in the bank to go higher.
Anyway, after a couple of weeks i decided to leave the iphone and get another s6. This phone was purchased sim free and came to me fully updated to 5.0.2 (no further updates available)
I find now that with this phone the volume seems really low and find myself playing it often above the 3/4 mark and not far off full.
I know that these type of things are quite subjective but i am certain the earlier ones i had were much louder.
Is it just me or has anyone else noticed this or could give some suggestions as to anything that may cause the volume to be lower for any reason.
thanks
Really only just me them?
Not just you, i also posted a similar post, i am also in the uk, i have an s6 that come with 5.0.2 already on it and my call volume seems a lot lower on max compared to my older s4.
I noticed theres a setting when making calls that says 'extra volume' when you press this, it doesnt seem to do anything?
For me its the loudspeaker volume when playing movies or YouTube etc.

A few issues with S6

There are a few silly issues I'm having with the phone and I just want to find out if anything can be done, for my sanitys sake.
I hate the way the screen lights up when I plug my headphones in.
I hate the fact that the countdown timer will vibrate only in vibrate mode (unlike my M7 which made a noise) but when not in vibrate mode it was only make a noise. I guess it makes sense if you think about it, but to me, its nonsense. I want it to vibrate AND make a sound in either mode, hell I'd even take sound+vibrate in ringer on mode at this point. So I can be listening to music and the timer goes off (in vibrate mode) and if I don't feel the vibration in my pocket, tough. Hard to explain, but I have to call back to the HTC M7, it didn't do this, it worked.
I hate the way that the alarm clock has increasing volume only once. If you snooze the phone, the next time the alarm goes off, it goes off full blast, no increasing volume.
I've been using XtreStoLite Deo-Mod Edition 2.4 rom with a week or so now and it's great. But I have noticed some issues which really worry me. I got this phone because it's fast. But when I press the power button there is a definate delay until the screen lights up and Facebook messenger for reasons unknown makes the phone unusable, it lags so bad and even the soft keys don't work. Never did this on other phones and my partners non-rooted S6 is fine.
It does make me wonder, is all this rooting and custom ROM worth it. So far, I've got odd lag and an app which nearly breaks the phone. If I could adblock and restore apps without rooting, I think I would unroot.
Then sell it and be happy
What is your question exactly then?

Can we automate it so your response is posted for every thread talking about issues with this phone?
My Question is, are any of my issues "fixable". I know xposed could do a lot of things for the M7. Is there something I've missed which can help me with my issues?

Chill i was making a joke
Have you tried full wipe? Or completely unroot to stock? Then back?
I have.
My Mrs has a unrooted stock S6 which I use for comparison.
The lag issues and issue with Messenger are only my phone, the isues I have with the screen lighting up with headphones plugged in and the alarm clock, we both share those.
I know the lag and messenger issue could be fixed by going back to stock, but this is the problem with custom roms and rooting. You get given nice features and you risk losing them all when going back to stock. I can live without messenger and the wake up lag I can just put up with, but it isn't right. I guess in truth I expected too much from this phone, I wanted it to be blazing fast and it just doesn't feel it.
There isn't a great range of roms either, my M7 had literally dozens of roms to try but I find with the S6, there are like only a handful.

will EU Volume cap ever be removed?

Looking at potentially buying this phone in the future but I'm curious to see if it can be done or has anyone been able to successfully remove it yet?
Anticipating the answer :S
If that's you only worry about Europe and its laws you are one lucky person.
Ryland
Best way to remove it is to turn your volume up, and when it asks you the question, press ok.
Then if you don't reboot the phone it won't ask you again.
I have to admit though, the poor volume of the S8 as well as most Android phones barring HTC, makes the cap irrelevant because if anyone hurts their ears listening to music through an S8+ they had broken ears already haha.
Wait, EU is responsible for that feature? Those f.....s
no....as long as it's a law
Gotta love the EU - controlling A$$ holes

sorry for the late reply, yep, good old EU, it effects all audio devices in the UK and europe, even the high end ones, it's always a issue for me especially when i am choosing a new phone and being able to root and remove it.

lol no that is not how you remove it, if it was that easy i would be able to do that on any device, no matter if the volume is turned up or not the volume cap will still reduce the volume no matter what, the only way to remove it permanently is via root, i still have my note 4 with root and the volume cap removed + custom rom with better audio i don't think i could ever part with it tbh, the S8 and S8+ are new so i guess it's the waiting game for now.

the nanny state and all, i can't stand the EU, what gives them the right to think for us really, what next? a timer on all tvs to turn off at a certain day so we are ready for bed? it's really is stupid.
furthermore with the recent news about the note 8 maybe it's best to wait for that phone instead, i'm more than patient to wait anyway, no rush, hopefully that will get rooted and the volume cap removed maybe.
but if either phone doesn't get root & EU volume cap removed i could always go back to legacy devices like my ipod classic (yes i stil have one of those ) the sound on them are still good till this day, only limitation is the space on them but i'll manage i guess.
till now i'll use my note 4 till it dies, it's 3 years old and still going strong for now.
With a bit of luck by March 2019 we'll have left the eu behind & all ludicrous laws. Cannot come soon enough.
Just be thankful that its not like some devices where it will nag you EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. when you turn the volume back up. At least this phone will only bug you once and then leave you alone until a certain amount of time passes or you restart. My Samsung Tab Pro S for example... *shudder*
this is why i would feel cheated buying a £800 phone and putting up with this
http://forums.androidcentral.com/showthread.php?t=796398&p=5798523&viewfull=1#post5798523
i's ridiculous really and the volume is worse with bluetooth too, if i can't remove it i don't want it
No.
It's here to stay.
Even when the UK leaves the EU I doubt Samsung will not have the cap on UK handsets.
On the other hand:
European Phones are easy rootable (the samsung galaxy ones)
US Phones are always more difficult to root and so on (because of the different chips - exynos / snapdragon)
All the best,
lienot
Samsung phones have always been plenty loud enough for me.
You know loud noise damages hearing, right? So the more you listen to loud music, the more you need to turn up the volume.
Better not to get started on the vicious circle in the first place.
For anyone who can't see the 3 dots (tested on S8+ and S10+)
1. Download the free app QuickShortcutMaker from the Play store
2. Run it and type "volume" in the search box
3. When "Settings" appears in the search results below, open the tree and tap on "Settings / Media Volume Limiter"
4. From the choices that appear, tap the "Try" option
5. You have now opened Media Volume Limiter, which is where the 3 dots would have taken you. You should see a switch to turn the limiter on or off and a volume bar set to about 2/3
6. Tap the switch to turn the limiter ON
7. Drag the volume limit to the far right
8. Job done. Bollocks to Brussels.

Samsung Marshmallow 6 Disable Safe Volume Warning [Solved] Note 4 Canada

Don't ask why in 2017 I'm still on Note 4. But it's a great phone. For 2+ years, when I go into my car in Canada, and connect via bluetooth, I have to pull my phone out and accept the "dumba$$, do you want to listen loud messge?". Finally tried this How to Automatically Disable the High Volume Warning without Root https://www.xda-developers.com/how-...gh-volume-warning-without-root/#comments_area and it works flawlessly. I'm on Bell in Canada which probably same spec Samsung as ATT or Verizon. let me know if any noobs need a video tutorial as it took me a few tries to understand the steps.

Looking for an OREO replacement

My Galaxy S7 (AT&T SM-G930A) was recently updated to Android 8 (Oreo). Since the update I am having issues with the volume. I plug my phone into a stereo receiver at work and we listen all day 12 - 14 hours. Nougat would often reset my volume after about 10 hrs of playing and display a warning about the dangers of listening to high volumes for extended periods. Since updating to Oreo the volume will reset randomly. It will not display a warning or reason it just resets. At first I thought it was because I was receiving a call or text or email but the random volume resets do not correspond to any notifications. This happens three or four times a day since the update.
The volume issues are just a minor issue compared to my battery life. I have a 33% reduction to battery life. Prior to the update I would plug in (to the stereo) my phone in the morning and after a 12 hr shift I would have about 20-25% left. Since the update I plug in (to the stereo) and after about 10 hrs I'm at 10-15%. I have not installed any new apps since the Oreo update and there are no other causes for the change in battery life.
The other main issue I have is speed. The phone is noticeably slower. Apps take longer to open and there is definite lag. Earlier today it took me a little over three minutes to pull up my navigation app and get directions. Prior to the update it would take around 30 seconds.
Here are my questions.
1) CAN I INSTALL A CUSTOM ROM? I had Cyanogenmod on my S4 and really liked it over the stock ROM. I think I would like to give Lineage a try but I still can't get a definite answer as to whether or not this can be done. Obviously I have the Snapdragon processor. Most of the information I'm finding is telling me that we can't install a custom recovery on Snapdragons yet, which means, no custom ROM. If I am wrong please provide me some current links.
2) If I can't install a custom recovery/ROM; CAN I REVERT TO NOUGAT OR MARSHMALLOW?
3) If I can't revert; WHAT CAN I DO THAT WILL PROVIDE ME WITH MORE IMMEDIATE SATISFACTION THAN WAITING FOR AT&T OR SAMSUNG TO FIX THIS CRAP?
1) No, US model S7's have locked bootloaders preventing custom firmware/recovery. You'll need an international G930F/FD to do anything custom.
2) No, the bootloader being locked prevents OS downgrades. You can only sidestep or upgrade.
3) Unfortunately your hands are pretty tied. All I can suggest is backup anything important and do a full clean flash, which may resolve some of the anomalies.

Beanvee,
Thanks for the quick and concise reply. I just wanted to offer a belated but brief follow up. I backed up and restored Android. It took a little while to get everything back where I wanted it but most things seem better now. The only complaint I have at this time is that my streaming music app(s) seem to drop the connections too often when running on WiFi. If I turn off the WiFi and use mobile data there aren't any issues. The WiFi issues happen at home, at work and when connected at my mother's home and friend's homes. I rarely have mobile data over-runs so it isn't an issue per se; it just bugs me a little.
Once again, thanks for the help.
I'm afraid that's something I've not experienced and wouldn't know where to look. Best I can think of is check battery saving options, and under WiFi > advanced, make sure Keep WiFi on during sleep is set to Always
