I have my shield tablet hooked up to my TV the majority of the time in console mode. The regular Netflix app is not very user friendly while using a remote. The latest Netflix app for Android TV will install on the shield but when you open it you get an error that it is not compatible. If you are not in console mode and rotate your device the error disappears and you can control the app with a controller and touch controls do not work.
Is there another way to bypass this error so you wouldn't have to rotate the device each time you want to watch Netflix and be able to launch in console mode?
Sorry for reviving an old thread but I'm wondering this myself.
Currently support for controller is **** on non-android tv netflix.

The main challenge with streaming from a non nvidia or lower grade nvidia gpu is
xinput.
Despite streaming the game flawlessly Controller support does not work on the shield gamepad natively, they just work as keyboard WASD etc buttons for playing games which is not comfortable.
Is it possible to overcome this limitation by getting SHIELD recognized as a 360 controller/detected as a xinput device.
This would complete the gaming experience. Somehow this is done in GFE and shield's native streaming.
Not sure what you mean. Are you trying to use the native nvidia streaming or something else? If it is something else you can try to use the xbox360 controller emulator.

streaming via splastop, and I want to emulate the 360 controlled on the shield gamepad.
example
I connect 360 controller to pc, now the game will work with controller support on.
I stream the game to my shield, But i dont want to use the attached controller on the pc, I want to emulate the controller on my shield.
Don't know any way to do that one.
Kainy does this perfectly! And has many other great features. Say goodbye to x360ce!
NVidia Shield acting as a "controller" for other devices and cross device syncing
Hey Guys,
I have searched and would like to know 2 things:
1) Can the Shield be used as a simple bluetooth controller for other devices? Say I want to play a game on a larger tablet. I know in console mode the other way can work (another blue controller controls the shield), but I want to know if the shield can control say a nexus 10.
2) Is it easy to have cross device syncing of emulators? I want to play say, Mario 64 on my shield on the bus ride home and then switch to my larger tablet and continue.
Thanks guys!

I dont think so, well at least Nvidia doesnt say any word on it in their features. But I guess with some additional software and/or maybe Root it will be possible, but why would you need it to act as a Just Controller ? I mean 250$ controller too expensive, dont you think? You can play any Android games on it, so you dont need controller for Android tablets, Xbox360 doesnt have bluetooth, PS3 has its own controller which is much cheaper and I think even better. If you plan on using it for PC games, whats a point if you can Stream PC games to Shield and play on TV in other room?
I know you can use your phone as game controller on windows system.
Is there a way to sync it with another Android as a controller?
Example:
I have android thumb drive on TV running MK4 on ng64 emulator and would like to use phone as controller via bt or wifi.
i can think of an app called Droidmote which should suffice your requirement for controlling another Android device using another one. This will require root though.
Ok i have been trying to figure out is it possible to have the shield app to connect to nvidia game stream i have the app but that feature seems to be disabled also i am aware of the moon light app but sometimes the stream is a bit unstable.
I have seen the remote play for ps4 flashed is there something simular for the shield app or away to trick the app thinking its on nvidias custom os?
Solved!
Hey, i recently purchased a nexbox a95x tv box.
but i have one issue the supplied remote does not work with hulu, it works with keyboard and mouse or the mouse button on the remote but that is slow.
The hulu app for fire tv works with the fire tv remote so it should be possible on a tv box, although the fire remote isnt i.r.
The box has android 5.1 with root i believe, if anybody has any suggestions that would be great.
I have another on order, that i am looking to develope a bit with, android 6.0 with leanback hopefully...
___
Update:
I found the reason hulu will not work, the hulu downloaded from play store is the touch version
Went and downloaded Hulu for android tv and all is great, now onto more enjoyable things...
