I've been using this on the HTC salsa since it come out on the UK market, we use v4.0.1.4-quilong recovery setup.
Ive backed up several images of my stock ROM so i can try out a custom ROM, now i would like to revert back and the CWM will not restore the image. it says nothing found in directory.
How is this possible when this recovery made the images in the first place, and its doing this on all my backups. not been able to try another image as theres only 1 other person with it.
is there a specific way as i didn't have this problem on the Xperia X8 i own.
Did you upgrade to CWM 5.X.X? Anything over version 5 you can't use old images with. If this is the case, you need to downgrade to restore those older images.
This is the only cwm recovery usable with this handset so far.

Just to make sure, you're booting into CWM and then going into nandroid, right?
I can either reboot into recovery menu from phone on or whip battery out and use volume key and boot into there from boot screen. From the cwm recovery screen I goto backup and restore. I've made 3 backups and non will restore from there. The HTC salsa section in xda will show the cwm recovery menu structure we use. Haven't found any other cwm that will work on this handset yet.

Cwm manager does not work with my HTC salsa either, not listed in device list :-(

I somehow flashed Cyanogen Mod with ClockWork Recovery, and it boots up properly. However it I can't use the touchscreen.
I am using an HTC One XL

Go into fastboot and type 'fastboot flash boot boot.img' without the quotes of course. And switch to twrp cwm isn't supported on our device and has major bugs that could possibly turn your phone into a weight
By the way make sure you put the boot.img that was in the ROM zip into your fastboot folder

Ok, so I flashed TWRP on it and installed CleanRom Version 5.1, flashed the boot image, but I still can't use the touch screen.
I know the touch screen isn't broken because I can use the interface on TWRP perfectly.
Dose any one else know any roms for the HTC One XL from Rogers that work.
Thanks
Seems as though you were on rogers or Telstra and took the ota...you can only run jb sense roms right now so maybe I suggest viper
A good one I like is king kang I works for me

Do i need to flash a stock boot.img when restoring a backup from TWRP?
My experience points to yes because I tried and it never got to boot animation after nandroid restore. Not 100% sure though.
Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
Well if you think about it technically... If your backup is a custom rom and you restore it you have to flash its kernel, so since the backup is like a custom rom only backupped so you will have to flash its kernel too
So I'm having a problem installing any AOSP ROMS on my one x. I can install any sense 4+ plus ROMS but cyanogenmod, jellybam , etc won't install they just bootloop constantly . I'm on the latest version of viper jellybean . It's a weird case unless i'm missing something which I think. Please help if you can

Have you taken the stock JB update?
That upgrades something making non sense roms fail I think.
Not too sure exactly, but have read this somewhere and I'm in same position after taking JB 4.1 OTA before finding xda goodness.

Even if you've taken the 4.1 ota it will boot just no working touchscreen. Op is doing something wrong. Verify that you have a onexl and are flashing a ROM for the one xl then make sure to wipe cache, dalvik, system and do a factory reset in twrp. If you wipe system and are flashing a ROM for the wrong phone you will brick so make sure you have the right ROM and phone combo. After flashing the ROM boot to fastboot and fastboot flash your boot.IMG. if you do all that your ROM will boot.

Wait so you flash a ROM first , then flash the boot.img ?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Doesnt matter if you flash it before or after ...are you full wiping? Data system caches. .. and you're flashing thorugh Fastboot right Sith Fastboot flash boot boot.img ?
Yes. Well mostly to flash the flash boot img . I was using the flash image gui app , or the flash boot .img batchfile created here on xda. They both have worked in the past .

Any ideas anyone? I just tried flashing nocturnal and my phone's just sitting at the boot logo. I've flashed the boot.img and yes my phone is a oneXL.
Similar problem
I've been having a similar problem but maybe even worse. After rooting my phone via onexroot.com tutorial I havent been able to install any custom roms. It says that the MD5 file is not found and "completes" the installation very quickly. I have tried the viper rom but i have tried the CM10 and AOKP JB. I have flashed boot.img via fastboot every time to no avail. Help please.I have ATT One X 2.20 hboot 1.14 twrp 2.4.1.0. Thanks.

I know this may sound silly but are you leaving the boot image in the zip file that you are placing in recovery? Extract the boot image from the zip but leave it in the zip file you are placing in twrp.

Yep, I just extract and copy the boot image over to user/downloads/onexrootattnew folder. Im starting to think that I did something wrong when rootin. I followed a tutorial online step by step and have twrp working and have superuser access. I'm not sure what else I'm doing wrong.

Place boot image on phone but not in any folder so that GUI can see it not in one x root. Place full zip file in downloads folder on phone storage. Use GUI to flash image. After flashing it will go into recovery. Use TWRP to install zip. Make sure you wipe system, cache and davlik cache before installing zip.
Hope this helps.

So I downloaded the flash GUI program and followed the steps via the video (thanks for that, very helpful) but after flashing the kernel (boot IMG) and hitting the recovery reboot option it didn't reboot, it didn't do anything. So I did a manual reboot into recovery and installed the zips and rebooted. I got to the Rom initiating page (this one had a unicorn) and it didn't go any further. The only other info I could offer is that I went the lazy way and emailed the boot image to myself on my comp and downloaded to my phone via the email. Not sure if that makes a difference. Any more ideas, I'm gonna try the ice cold jelly Rom and the viper xl later today.
So I just tried the viper 3.2 Rom and although it seemed to get a little further in the process, result is the same: stuck on viper logo. Only ice cold jelly left. When transferring zip files over to phone do o have to mount via twrp or can I just mount as disk drive via stock rom? At this point, unrooting and waiting for att's official JB update may be my only option. Thanks in advance for any help.

Don't forget to hit the thanks button, I have worked very hard on this
Instructions:
Download the zip
Boot into recovery
Install It like you would with a Mod Or Rom
Then Set The Check Box At the end With Reboot In To System
Then Boot Back In to recovery and See your new recovery
I Have Also In Include The Instructions for F2FS In The Recovery Switcher
Instructions For F2FS:Procedure for fresh conversion including new Rom flashing:
1. Backup everthing you want to keep with titanium backup or whatever backup you choose.
2. Fastboot flash the new recovery img.
3. Run a twrp backup in case things get ugly!
4. Flash new ROM now if desired.
5. Still in recovery...Goto wipe -> hit Advanced wipe. Select data and hit change partition type. Convert to F2FS. Repeat for cache.
6. Flash the kernel+fstab conversion
7. Reboot and profit. Any partition app on market can confirm new format changes.
Procedure for nightly ROM updates after F2FS conversion:
1. Flash nightly
2. Flash kernel+fstab conversion
Procedure if you want to convert back and forth after initial conversion for testing purposes:
1. Change formats of data/cache as desired (only ext4 and f2fs supported).
2. Flash kernel+fstab conversion to update format types before attempting boot.

I believe your problem is that you're on TWRP 2.5 in the first place, it's super buggy and has major issues flashing anything.
Download the modified version of TWRP*2.6.3.0*from here. Put the file in your fastboot folder. Connect phone in fastboot mode, open command prompt from within fastboot folder, issue the following commands:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery "filename.img"
(the exact filename, minus the talking marks)
Code:
fastboot erase cache
Code:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Now try the recovery flasher again.
