Here: [GUIDE] Update stock rooted/modified rom to last 6.0 Marshmallow w/o losing your data
Additional: update stock OTA

Just dirty flash in the following order :
1. Flashable Zips of latest update (find it on forum).
2. SuperSu 2.66
Boot it completely.
3. Flash ElementalX Kernal 6.09
No wipes. You will be on the latest update.

[Q] What is the current radio and how do i check?

So I just updated from basically 4.4 to 5.1.1. I was on cyanogem mod.
I updated using official zips with TWRP flashing super su each time. This kept the initial boot from installing stock recovery, so I'm unsure if it updated the radio/firmware.
What is the current and how do you check your firmware/radio version?
Thanks!

Flashing new OTA update on rooted MotoG3

Motorola has released new OTA update of 371.4 MB in India.
I read that since I am a rooted user I must not try to flash this update.
I would like the help from xda to install these updates. Should I install stock firmware 6.0.1 first?
Two ways to do it
1. Flash stock ROM 6.0from factory firmware link. Allow ota to download and phone should upgrade to 6.0.1
2. Flash the 6.0.1 stock ROM which is made available in factory firmware link. -Update: 6.0.1 is already the updated system with the new ota of 371mb.
Option 2 is more convenient.
While upgrading to mm 6.0 via ota, on my rooted phone I had tried flashing the stock recovery and cleaning the root. but it did not help and I landed with a soft bootloop. The ota checks for the original fingerprint of the stock system which is why you need to be on stock firmware for the ota update method.
You need stock recovery and stock firmware.

can i update a rooted device?

my device is currently rooted and i just recieved an update from samsung. i am using a super kernel v1.4 and i would like to update to the lastest version which requires this update from samsung. can i update my device ota or must i download the firmware from sammobile and reflash everything then install everything else again. if i am able to update the phonr ota can i also just flash the new kernel to replace the old one? i want a clean install.
OTA won't work on a custom device (Rooted / Kernel / Recovery), I'm surprised you even got the notification for an update tbh
You'll have to update manually when the firmware arrives as a flashable ROM

Can I install a previous version of Android on my J7 2015?

So, I have a Nougat (7.1.2) custom ROM. I just want to flash the stock one (marshmallow 6.0.1). Can I just simply wipe on twrp and flash? Thanks.
It should work. I did this to upgrade my radio files to the latest.
Note that you'll lose TWRP and root.
