Debranding.. - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I've bought an xt1039 which has an branding from tesco Gb with 4.4.4 installed.
I tried to flash the german rtde firmware but I still have tescogb into my carrier info.
Also modem etc is still telling me tescogb.
I used the german rtde 4.4.4 firmware with the following commands:
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img
fastboot flash logo logo.bin
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.0
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.1
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.2
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot reboot
all commands succeeded
Can somebody tellme how I get an stock rtde device with no tesco stuff on it. Or is it possible at all?

I need to do that without unlocking the bootloader!

My understanding is that this is a difference between Moto G (Falcon) and Moto G 4G LTE (Peregrine) - Falcon can be debranded, Peregrine cannot. Following your above actions would remove Tesco branding from a Falcon handset.

But why peregrine cannot be debranded when you have the stock rtde firmware from that specific device?
Where is the difference?

Your guess is as good as mine. It maybe related to hardware and / or software and how LTE / 4G functions.

The device definetely has no Sim/Net lock, so generally everything should be possible with software...!?

Could be two things:
1. You may need to flash gpt.bin from 4.3 (included in official 4.3 download) as this will create a new correctly sized partition table.
2. Make sure you use motorola fastboot to flash (known as mfastboot) and not the Google fastboot.
Not a problem. Download http://sbf.droid-developers.org/download.php?device=14&file=124
And follow:
Code:
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin #if this fails, ignore it and carry on
fastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img
fastboot flash logo logo.bin
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.0
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.1
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.2
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot reboot
I have same problem too...any firmware I flash I get those " image is too big " errors and when I restart I am stuck at bootloader? any ideas?

Unfortunately i'm in the same boat, stuck at boot. Flashing different zips doenst seem to help. I think the partition has changed since the 4.4.4 OTA from 4.4.2 on the GPE. It's impossible to flash a different rom at the moment. Hopefully there will be a fix soon.
Yes ...I read the same thing in several places...it has to do something with that gpe firmwares partition.....anyone have any idea how to fix this please?
same problem here. I was able to fix my phone partially with
1, factory reset in recovery (twrp)
2, adb Cyanogen rom
3, fixing reception with
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
using gpe 4,4 fsg
Can you explain that in "noob language " please ? ...did you managed to flash official firmware after that?
Is fastboot mode available? If yes then you could just either 'dd' them or flash via fastboot, starting with sys partition. Don't touch the efs.

[Help] Phone Bootloop

Hi guys, so i flashed a Moto G GPE rom onto my phone, got sick of seeing 3G rather then H or H+ and have decided to move back to Stock Retail.
I have a problem though when i use the guide on the FAQ ( the mfastboot way) everything i flash gets the okay appart from the system spasrsechunks? that gets some sort of error and it says error okay? Well apart from that after i reboot the phone, it has the warning sign but then uses the google bootanimation? ive left it on a good couple of minutes to see if it will boot but it doesnt seeem to want to..

Google animation means that you still have the gpe rom on your phone. This happened to me before when i flashed the GPE rom too. What you need to do is flash your firmware again. Download the stock firmware form this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2542219 Then what you need to do is run these commands MANUALLY! As in 1 by 1.
fastboot getvar max-sparse-size
fastboot oem fb_mode_set
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash logo logo.bin
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk1
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk2
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk3
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot oem fb_mode_clear

XT1039 now showing as XT1032

I softbricked my Moto G 4G this morning & the only way I could get it out of the bootloop was to flash with a X1032 firmware. I have subsequently managed to flash the latest stock XT1039 ((Moto_G_LTE_XT1039)_RET-EU-SS_4.4.4_KXB21.14-L1.46_cid7_CFC_1FF.xml) firmware but when I plug the phone into my PC it is shown as XT1032. Is there anything I can do to revert it back to its correct model number?
Did you use an included .bat file to flash or a series of fastboot commands? If the latter, what commands?

Its was an included bat file. I used the files from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/help/easy-unbrick-moto-g-restore-4-4-4-stock-t2850282
You might want to consider doing the fastboot commands manually. If all commands are used, ant trace of XT1032 should be gone.

That was the method I used after using the bat file.
mfastboot flash partition gpt.bin
mfastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img
mfastboot flash logo logo.bin
mfastboot flash boot boot.img
mfastboot flash recovery recovery.img
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.0
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.1
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.2
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.3
mfastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
mfastboot erase modemst1
mfastboot erase modemst2
mfastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
mfastboot erase cache
mfastboot erase userdata
mfastboot reboot
these all worked OK without issue
I had to modify the sparsechunk files to match the ones in the rom that i downloaded
All Models of Moto G have 1032 in the baseband, is it possible your phone was always recognised on PC as XT1032?
It was definitely showing as1039 before the soft brick
Then obviously something is remaining from the XT1032 firmware. If you have a Custom Recovery, try the wipe options there.
Alternatively, the following command in Fastboot might be enough: fastboot erase system
BTW, never use the Fastboot command: fastboot erase all

I have tried the wipe option before. I will try fastboot erase system then reflash the stock rom
This didn't solve the issue

Flash the firmware images from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/general/moto-g-2014-factory-firmware-images-t2869485 (Please download the one for your phone, country and network)
Then use these commands:
Code:
fastboot.exe flash logo logo.bin
fastboot.exe flash boot boot.img
fastboot.exe flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk.0
fastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk.1
fastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk.2
fastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk.3
fastboot.exe flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot.exe erase modemst1
fastboot.exe erase modemst2
fastboot.exe flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot.exe erase cache
fastboot.exe erase userdata
Is there a way to downgrade without root? I just got my moto G yesterday and I'd rather not root it yet.

You do not need to unlock the bootloader to flash original moto firmware
Just put it in bootloader mode and on your pc where you have fastboot and all the firmware files open a command/terminal prompt and type the following
Code:
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img (not all devices have this)
fastboot flash logo logo.bin
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk0 (flash all sparsechunks in number order - for example)
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk1
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk2
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk3
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk4
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot reboot

Some phones may not have sparsechunks 0 & 4 - as long as you flash all the ones in the firmware in number order
I don't have your phone so I couldn't tell you what firmware to use
I have Motorola g5 so I can just tell you the process
And looking on that firmware thread it says you need to use mfastboot for system images - so see that thread for details
Long as everything is flashed successfully in the order I have written above including erasing user data
Sooo.... Could you tell me which comand i have to use ?
Related to no sim card issue?
I'm wondering if this is related to a problem I am having with mine phone. I flashed the official firmware (6.0) on my moto x force and everything works but the simcard. It says it's not loaded so I have no phone or cell data. My sim card works in other moto phones so its not that.
