Thanks for adding it @MushroomLT

@MushroomLT can you port Lastest lenovo super camera to our device ?

Hi, I tried flashing the TWRP Recovery (downloaded via link in your thread) using the scatter file provided with the revoery image.
While trying to flash, this pops up: "PMT changed for the ROM; it must be downloaded."
I tried to use scatter file downloaded directly from your thread, but after successful flash I can't boot into recovery at all, phone just turns off.
Do I need to use CyanogenRecovery (it works properly)? (I prefer TWRP)
Could you help, please?

I had GPS slow fix and A-GPS problems also with Stock...
GPS Part is not in this ROM's Engineering Menu available (probably some APK's missing), so I didn't tested it - planing to do it today...
But this ROM is fast and all works stable, very good to start with.
I miss some Features seen in Stock and CM:
- Virtual Operator Network Name not shown - only real network - in Stock ROM it was OK
- no National Data Roaming feature (only Data Roaming), saw this on some CM builds and Samsung phones
- if I'm in roaming I don't see the connected data technology (4G,3G,H,E,G) - only the R standing for Roaming - in national data roaming (Virtual operators) is it annoying - but data works OK.

This is a good budget device when compared to other devices from lead manufacturers like Samsung, Sony, LG or Huawei.
While searching on the internet I did find some Root & CWM installation methods.
I will be updating the relevant posts as and when needed.
You can look in the list below for what you want to do with your device.
ATTENTION!!! READ THIS BEFORE DOING ANYTHING
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Friend, there are two versions of this device in the market:
1. A706 (Chinese model)
2. A706_ROW (International Model)
The ROMs in this thread are only for the A706ROW model of this phone unless otherwise stated.
If you have the chinese model or another model A760 (which is a different model) then the ROMs in this thread are not for you.
Model A706 and A760 are two different models with almost same specifications. This DOES NOT mean that the ROMs of A706ROW are compatible with A760.
Please DO NOT confuse Lenovo A706 with Lenovo A760 as these are two different devices!!! Flash or experiment at your own risk!!!!
If you share a ROM link for any of the above devices, then please mention clearly the device for which the ROM can be used.
What to do with your Device ?

FOR NOOBS
--------------------
Read the instructions (click on SHOW to read) before attempting anything from the list below!
First you need to have the Android SDK installed on your computer. Or atleast you need to have the adb & fastboot files available on your computer.
Here's a good post that tells you how to setup ADB and fastboot.
Here's a post that has a list of adb/shell commands for noobs.
Ok, once you are done with the setup of ADB & fastboot on your computer, then you can proceed with the below instructions.
--------------------
IMPORTANT NOTE BEFORE FLASHING:
-------------------------------------------------------------
Recently, I have noticed that many people after buying the phone are flashing any firmware to their phones and most of the time without checking the phone versions and the OS versions. In the stock firmware post, I had mentioned that people having the Chinese version of the phone should NOT flash the ROW (international) firmware otherwise it would mess up their phone and network etc.
SOLUTION FOR SIM ERROR & DOWNGRADING TO CHINESE ROM
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now, some of the people have already done such a mistake and for those people (who are having SIM or network problems and want to go back to chinese ROM, I am sticking this post by danyno1 to the OP:

BEST soloutions for these 2 common problems :
#1 device doesnt recognize simcards
#2 being unable to downgrade to the chinees stock rom
soloution of the #1 problem :
how I fixed: Just Installed the QNeonModern 1.7 ROM... then I installed the update of a chinese ROM from bootdroid (I mean putt the update.qsb file un the sdfuse directory o my sd card, then power and vol+ to enter the menu and selected SD UPDATE)... thats all... I have again my chinese rom with signal for calls untill we discover how to make work the athk board in the ROW roms.
Hope to be helpfull!

soloution for #2 problem:
Ok trying again to put my chinese device in ROW rom with sim signal, and found a solution:
1:Flash via droidboot a chinese stock firmware I used the 130325
2:Rooted device with vroot and installed CWM Recovery via ADB
3:In the procedure to install custom rom Qneon one of the steps is to flash boot.img via fastboot... well I just didn´t do this step and flashed directly Qneon_1.7.1.zip via CWM
4: Did data/factory reset, cache reset and dalvik cache reset
5:Reboot system
An Ready! Finally got my chinese device in spanish and sim signal.

CWM Installation Instructions:
-------------------------------------------
Make sure you have all the drivers for your phone installed on your computer. Download for A706 from here. Some other Qualcomm drivers (not sure if required)
Make sure you have USB Debugging enabled, Install from Unknown Sources is enabled and device is detected in ADB run this command:
Code:
adb devices
Download the CWM Recovery for A706 from here.
Unzip the downloaded file to get a "recovery.img" recovery image file.
Press SHIFT key + Right mouse click in the folder where the file is located and select Open Command from Here.
Now, in the command prompt do the following:
a. Reboot into Bootloader mode. Use command:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
b. Device will reboot and display Lenovo logo. (check if device is in bootloader mode by running command:
Code:
fastboot devices
. If you see a device connected then you have successfully rebooted into fastboot mode.
c. Now, run this command:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
(This will flash the CWM recovery image to the device).
d. Once successful, reboot the device using this command:
Code:
fastboot reboot
. Or, you can keep the power+vol up+ vol down buttons pressed to restart.
If everything has gone well, this should get CWM installed on your device. Your device is still *not rooted*. Once you have installed CWM, please proceed to the ROOT instructions post to *root* your device.

INSTRUCTIONS
-----------------------
A memory card is required.
Boot into Android normally.
Connect your phone to your PC/Laptop with a USB cable and when asked (or in USB connection settings), please select USB Mass storage mode to mount SD card.
On the root of the memory card, create a folder called "sdfuse".
Unzip the downloaded firmware, you will get a QSB file.
Copy the QSB file to the sdfuse folder that we created earlier on the root of SD card.
Note: Please make sure that your phone has atleast 60% power before attempting or beginning upgrade. Or keep charger connected during the process.
SD card upgrade process:
Long press VOL UP + POWER_KEY to enter the droidboot,
A menu will appear. Select the fourth option, SDUPDATE.
At the bottom of the screen, you can see the progress and status of the update
When you see the message "SDCARD UPDATE SUCCESS!!!", this means you successfully completed the upgrade process
Now, reboot your device and hopefully it should be updated.
That's it! If you guys have found any more firmware download links (even for different regions, build etc.) just share them with me along with details and I will add them to the list in this post.

scuderialoki, unfortunate that you got stuck. worked for me without any issues. i upped the same file that i used on mediafire. can you re-download the file and then check if the file is ok by extracting the zip using winrar or winzip? if it is ok then try flashing it again.

ok, please tell me if you have CWM installed on your device? I believe it is not installed. if this is the case, then you need to flash CWM and then try installing the zip again.
if it is installed then, i believe the super su from previous rooting maybe causing the problem. check on Playstore for a method to unroot your device. or google it. then you need to root again. hope this solves your problem.
thanks
Hi bro thanks for the reply i attached a screenshot of my root validation. I used an app to identify that. And by the way my recovery is installed. I the super su app is killing it

I now succesfully used PDANet (See Tools / Drivers), but a lot of people seem to use the VCOM drivers (MT6589 VCOM, MTK Preloader etc.
The only tool (see Tools section) working after a lot of trying (!) for me was (old) SP Flash Tool 3.1344, and sometimes the newest 3.1408, both icw MTK Droid 2.5.3!

ROM Installing / Updating
Basic instructions to update your phone (if not automatically Over The Air (OTA)) with a ROM ZIP using a recovery:
If you have the SP Flash Tool (see Tools), make a backup with that too
Install CWM (or any other custom recovery like Carliv's CTR or TWRP if available for E380)(see Root by Flash)
Download and unzip the ROM update (see Acer Update History and watch new posts)
Copy the FixPack-B.zip to SD card
(Re)Boot into recovery
Make a full backup in recovery (to SD)
Flash the FixPack-B.zip from recovery
Reboot & enjoy the new ROM / updated Android!
Root by flash (preferred method)
WARNING: USE AT YOUR OWN RISK, THIS CAN BE DIFFICULT OR EVEN DANGEROUS!!!
When stuck / frozen on boot (bootloop) you can always reset by holding Volume Up & Power for over 12 sec!
Carlivs Tutorial is another good, clear and complete overview of all this!
Steps 0-4 are to be found explained more thouroughly and with images, in the tutorials in the ROM Dump section. Read them. Read them well!
All tools can be found in the Tools section.
Also, a short (better?) version by Shreps can be found here (or check this ChinaPhoneArena one).
0) Install drivers (see Tools) with a good USB virtual COM port emulation! Most simple is to install PDANet maybe, but lot of people seem to use so called VCOM drivers / MT6589 VCOM / MTK Preloader etc. Other option is the MTK USB All Developer drivers. Make sure connection is OK, and MTK Droid works (when phone is on)!
1) Create scatter file or use the one attached to this post.
2) Read back (stock) recovery (or all) partitions with (old) SP Flash Tool 3.1344 using scatter from 1, or download my stock recovery img here.
3) Download CWM 6.0.5.0 by vache or Carliv Touch Recovery CTR (2.7 for JB, 3.0 for KK) (thanks to vache/Shreps for CWM, thanks to Carliv for CTR!)(or make your own by MTK Droid altering stock recovery image);
4) "Download" (to phone) the custom recovery with (old) SP Flash Tool 3.1344 using scatter from 1, or use mine.
5a) Copy SuperSU zip to SD card, and boot your phone into CWM/Carliv recovery (hold volume up and turn phone on), and then Install zip from SD > install SuperSU.
5b) Te keep your custom CWM: Install SuperSU immediately after boot, and use File / Root Explorer to delete file ".. recovery .." in System folder before booting again!
6) YOU ARE ROOTED!
7) Install BusyBox (see Tools section)

I've managed to make a backup using MTK droid and root tool. hackwerk, it seems you are getting ahead of me now can you post your recovery if it's working ? thanks !
Is it safe to install and activate Xposed framework on the E3 ?
I got a notification today about a 8.23 Mb update ! But there is no changelog anywhere and I don't want to install it yet...
Anyone got it ?

Yes I already have a datamap / scatter file (from MTK Droid) and used it succesfully to dump / backup all blocks to images (recovery.img boot.img android.img etc) on my non-rooted phone! (however USERDATA block fails in SP Flash Tool, and I do not know the end address of the ROM thus cannot dump the last block (__NODL_BMTPOOL))
Made a CWM custom recovery with the Official CWM Builder online, but the new output recovery was larger than my stock input one!?
Big problem for now, as I cannot fit it in the current recovery space?!
Xposed I do not know? However I strongly advise everyone NOT to install / run programs or apps or packages etc which are not on XDA or are closed source! There's a LOT of virussing / spying / trojanning going on in this world.
The official Acer update is only (as far as I found out);
1) Update of the build from Acer_AV052_E380_1.007.00_EMEA_GEN1 > Acer_AV052_E380_1.012.00_EMEA_GEN1
2) Update of the APN version from APN 2.053 > APN 2.062
I colored the 2 changes green in my FP.
So just do it, its fine I guess, and we will get Android 4.4 Kit Kat soon anyways...
Ok, and do you think that with root I would be able to retrieve this last block ?
I can confirm that even after reboot the root is there ! I used Voodoo OTA rootkeeper to make the OTA update, just to be safe and it managed after 2 restores to put back root. I don't know if it was needed.
I don't see any change with this update, just a traduction error corrected in the settings menu (flip cover wake up)...
Would be nice to have a changelog from Acer just to know !
I can also confirm that Xposed Framework is perfectly working on this phone.

Size of the last 2 partitions is now known and added but the reason it cannot be read by SP Flash Tool is that the sizes are not a multiple of 512 or so!?
Yeah baby! Great news!
I managed to install the ClockworkMod Recovery (rua1 autoCWM 5.5.0.4) made by the MTK Droid Root & Tool, and Downloading it to my phone in the older SP Flash Tool 3.1344!
After that of course installed SuperSU and we are ROOT, by a simpel/safe/clean method!
Links and stuff are in the first post.
Problems/ToDo now:
1) This CWM is removed after a normal (re)boot and replaced by the stock one (Android system recovery 3e). How!? And how to stop this?!
2) Newer CWM (6.0.4.7) like the one the online CWM Builder makes for me (altering my stock image) seems to big for the partition
3) Custom ROM making (CyanogenMod!!!), but let's wait for 4.4 Kit Kat and the sources of that, which will be available in the next months.
Data to Ext SD
We need to extend space to our external SD card, as the internal phone memory is not huge.
However I really really cannot see all differences with pro's and con's anymore between all options, so please help me!
What should we do, with this rooted stock Acer ROM (Android 4.2.2)(with EXT4 partitions and CWM recovery)?
1) Use one of the famous scripts INT2EXT, Data2EXT/D2EXT, Mount2SD/M2SD, Apps2SD/A2SD etc. etc.
1b) For INT2EXT we need Init.d support, so whats the best way to add that? An App like Init.d Toggler or Universal Init.d or so? (4.4 support would be nice!)
2) Just use simple symlinks with Link2SD/L2SD or Apps like FolderMount etc
3) Repartition and make data partition on SD, using Meteos etc
4) Use one of the many Apps to move Apps, like Titanium Backup etc.
What CAN, and SHOULD we try/use? Please advise me?
Have you already seen this behaviour of a custom recovery reverting back to stock after reboot ?
I've always used link2sd with my previous phone, so far I put my apps on sd using the android built-in option on my E3, because I haven't reached the internal storage limit yet...
Are we only 2 having this phone ?^^

From what I can see now, you should install SuperSU immediately the first time in CWM, and THEN reboot. SuperSU asks for permission for Acer system update and you should deny that. CWM will then stay. However, you could also update (to 4.4 later) and then flash the CWM again of course.
Yeah the phone is JUST released, so we are the first. Probably some more people will join in the next months!

MTK Rom Studio (1.1.77.266)(by Linerty)
Multiple MTK (Engineer) Apps / Tools on Google Play, like Mobileuncle MTK Tools (2.9.9)
Xposed (2.5.1) Framework (modify ROM without flashing)
Titanium Backup (6.1.5.4)(backup/restore, and remove or move apps, also system apps)
SuperSU (1.94)(install via CWM to root phones etc)
BusyBox (11 / 1.22.1)
Fixes
Bad GPS fix with MobileUncle MTK Tools (or MT GPS EPO Fix)
Camerafix (by ventus00): Drag Camera app to homescreen into "App info" which brings you to "Gallery" app info. Press Force stop > Clear data. What fixed the cam was pressing "Clear defaults" under "Launch by default".
Hacks
To boot into recovery/fastboot mode, hold Volume Up while powering device on.
To make Acer's drivers also recovery/fastboot compatible, add this line to your "android_winusb.inf" files in the maps in submap "drivers" (and then install/update drivers in Windows Device Manager): %SingleAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0C01
Repartition and extend space to SD with Meteos App here or here (root required)(more partition info here)(not tested yet)
Use external SD for apps with the famous INT2EXT script or check all options like App2SD, Mount2SD, Data2SD etc
More?
To Do / Problems
Which script/app to use for data > ext SD? See post #6 etc!
Which method to use to get init.d support?
Custom recovery ClockworkMod RUNNING (5.5.0.4 with MTK Droid) but the CWM custom one from CWM Builder online) seems to large :/
Besides the CWM, build and test custom TWRP Recovery, and Carliv Touch Recovery.
No custom ROM like CyanogenMod yet :/

Porting custom roms from Acer Liquid E2 to Acer Liquid E3 it's very simple.
All you need to do is to take boot.img (kernel) from your stock rom and then if you want I can help you to port kernel to your e3

Welcome Marco and thanks!
Our ALE3 stock boot.img and the kernel source (both still 4.2.2) are already available and I really welcome you to help us.
Although we are also very much waiting for the 4.4 Kit Kat release which is almost there (Q2)!
Ps. Is it (still) hard/impossible to get a CyanogenMod (which I LOVE and am very used to) clone running on our ALE3 (because of MediaTek MT6589?)?
Unlock
Can you tell me if any of the above will unlock my new E380 ? Or do I need to wait for a custom ROM to be ported ?
Many thanks.

I own a Acer Liquid E2 and I ported CM11 from Wiko Stairway (MT6589) to my phone thanks to some patches and libs. At the moment developers have to fix camera, bluetooth, hw acceleration and some little bugs.
I can port this roms but I haven't got a Acer Liquid E3 so I can't test them.
EDIT: I'm gonna port these kernels, but I can't upload those roms because of my bad connection
So all you had to do is to download the roms, replace my kernel in the rom and replace libs with stock libs (they are located in system/lib/modules )
Jellyxperia kernel:
https://mega.co.nz/#!8ZVHzTwJ!kQO_A9AJdLx2Mz3u1ctZ5-IhuEUZvFJOb-SxG9LuyJA
MIUI kernel
https://mega.co.nz/#!gJtQVSCQ!5IdxGHxOobBfGblp8Dd7AUM03prNScxaIudSXT5879E
Try and tell me if I succeed
As long as key features of our (ALE3) phone are not supported in custom ROMs, like camera, I will not (try to) flash/test or modify them.
I am not a developer, and I really demand basic features like making a picture
And again, maybe we should start fukkin around when 4.4 (and sources of 4.4?) are released!

What exactly do you mean by unlock? Rooting? Pattern/PIN lock? SIM / network lock?
Rooting:
See the first post (FP) / topic start (TS) if rooting is what you want and try the simple but obscure Kingo method or flash CWM and install SuperSU etc (complicated but trusted / universal method).
SIM / Network lock:
If rooted, you can install all apps (signed and unsigned) and do everything in your phone you want to, so install a SIM unlock app (OWN RISK), or use a complicated but more trusted file edit method (OWN RISK). A good app option seems to be the famous MobileUncle MTK Tools (see Tools section in FP), as it has a Permanent Unlock option for both SIMs in the Engineer Mode (MTK)!
PIN / Pattern:
A million methods via ADB, or (CWM) recovery etc, like these, but just Google man!

So you have CM11 running, but with these problems (because of the MT6589), on your ALE2?
And you did (or also) run customs SC0RPION, JellyXperia and MIUI (only/all three?) and without big problems (so I can probably use those on daily basis)?
Which one do you like best? SC0RPION seems most updated, newest and best fitting (ALE2 based), MIUI seems older and simpler, and Jelly is based on an other phone?!
I do not understand how I would be able to port them to our ALE3. Can you explain it more elaborate please?

Yes I meant network unlock (use a phone on an alternate network to that to which it is locked)
Three (UK) have kindly agreed to unlock without charge .. So I just need to root as I need to port some sideloaded apps accross from an old HD.
All the best

CM11 is still buggy on mt6589, not only on my phone.
I tried those roms and they are bugfree except jellyxperia which is not multilanguage, in fact only english and chinese.
Honestly I prefer Sc0rpion rom because of its performance/battery life.
About porting roms, you should follow these steps:
1 - Download rom you want to port
2 - On your stock rom, go to system/lib/modules and copy all the libs inside this folder on your sd card
3 - Open custom rom zip and replace custom libs (in the same folder) with your libs
4 - Now replace boot.img of the rom with the ported boot.img which I gave you (i.e. ALE3Jellyxperia)
5 - Make a backup of your stock rom, Wipe data/factory reset and flash the zip in CWM
Yesterday I forgot Sc0rpion kernel, so you can download it here:

Thanks a lot but after my whole journey (see FP) I just finished configging my phone and am very happy at the moment.
I will try it later, but maybe 4.4 (will be released for us, inc kernel source) will be my next step, and I hope CM11 4.4 customly made from/for this!
How did you make these boot.img images for our ALE3 (from ALE2) btw?

[GUIDE][CM Port][ MT6589 only] Port CyanogenMod 10.2/11 for all MT6589 devices

@chrmhoffmann compiled first ever CyanogenMod for his Wiko Stairway which is a MT6589 device and made it possible for other MT6589 users to taste CM. Since then many are porting it to their MT6589 device and many are requesting to make a port for their device. So, I have made a guide here to make it easier for them to port themselves. You should give proper credits to respected developers and hit thanks before posting on XDA.
NOTE:I have made a list of already ported CM roms in #2 post below , if your device is not listed there download any of the ported CM rom and follow this guide to port it to your device
This is the guide to port CM 10.2/11 for all MT6589 devices.Read carefully and follow each step correctly otherwise CM won't boot
Tools Required:
1) Archive Manger (winrar,winzip,7zip)
2) boot.img Unpack Repack Tools
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1587411(For Linux)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2036528(For Windows)
NOTE:
For CM 11 the same proceedure is followed but the stock boot.img must be having kernel with binder.c patched and SELinux enabled (This feature can be bypassed but binder.c patch is must otherwise CM 11 won't boot)
Guide:
1) First get your stock rom and download any ported CM 10.2/11 rom from #2 post below
2) Get boot.img from your phone(stock rom) and boot.img from downloaded CM-ROM.zip
3) Unpack both of them to get ramdisk and kernel of both.
4) Repack CM's ramdisk and stock kernel (your phone's) to get a new boot.img
5) Extract system folder from your phone(stock rom) and system folder from downloaded CM-ROM.zip
6) Copy and replace these files from stock to CM,
=> /lib/modules/ -> all files
=> /framework/ -> CustomProperties.jar
mediatek-common.jar
mediatek-framework.jar
mediatek-op.jar
secondary-framework.jar
=> Also all the files mentioned in the below link ( A great thanks to Kashifmin for providing this )
https://github.com/kashifmin/android_device_micromax_a116/blob/master/proprietary-files.txt
7) Now take the modified CM system folder and the new boot.img and make a zip archive with normal deflate compression ( are default in 7zip)
8) Open the newly created zip archive and downloaded CM-rom.zip .Now drag and drop the META-INF and file_contexts from downloaded CM-rom.zip to newly created zip archive.
9) Now flash the new zip using recovery (CWM/TWRP)
10) Enjoy !!

If CM for any MT6589 device is missing here , PM me. I will add here.
i try but always stuck on boot splash, no boot up.. pleash help thanks
Uhm.... I guess I can't port cm10.2 over stock jb4.2.1 rom, right?
I ask because I first looked for cm10.1 to port, but to my surprise, I didn't find any cm10.1 builds for any mt6589 on google.
@polfrank you can port CM 10.2 using stock 4.2.1 rom. First you have to download any CM 10.2 Rom from above and follow guide to port. You can even port above CM 11 Roms if you have a working kernel source for your device

@limam27 boot loop occurs if 1) boot.IMG is badly repacked 2) any file is missing from your device stock rom which has to be copied to CM ROM as mentioned in the guide. Check them first . Also Check whether you are getting errors during unpack and repack of boot.IMG.

Hmm, I'm stuck on my brand's splash screen too. I don't get to see the boot animation, and as you mention I get errors during both unpacking and repacking. But it said that the file was copied though.... I 'll search for another way to upack and repack on Google and come back.
Edit: pfff, seems like the only way to do it on windows was the one you provided...
Which CM version you are trying to port ?
If have Linux use unpack scripts to unpack/repack boot.img
Windows always gave me errors.

I chose the CM10.2 from Wiko Stairway.
Yes, I'm now setting a Virtual Machine with Linux 14. And I'll try the unpack scripts from there. Let's see...
UPDATE:
OK, i ended up doing a clean install of ubuntu.
I upacked both images SUCCESS.
I repacked using stock kernel.img and CM ramdisk folder, SUCCESS.
I Install boot.img through CWMrecovery, it now gets past boot logo(Cubot white screen) but I think that before it would enter bootanimation the screen becomes a weird mass of colours, as if the screen was broken. It lasts for 1 second, then it restarts.
ps. I can successfully go to recovery with power+volUP If i like..
Any ideas?
You should get CM boot animation even if you use stock boot.img but won't boot. Did u correctly replace all required files in rom ? Do a clean one. Check if you can get logcat. Send me the logs

I think I used wrong kernel.img. I repacked, will flash soon and come back to report.
EDIT: Are you sure that I have to use the META-INF folder from the CM rom? It gives me status 7 error.... (I also used the META-INF from a rom for my device, unfortunatelly it uses aroma, but it seems to install properly..)
EDIT2: I think that now I repacked the correct components of boot.img. It seems to get past the Cubot white splash screen, but after this, I get a black screen, but I can see that the screen is on, I can see the backlight. [I will try again with the CM META-INF-->still fails]
ps. Seems like I have to learn how to get a logcat if I wanna make use of your help... I'll be back in some hours.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
To sum up:
I have packed the new boot.img and replaced the needed files in the rom.
1) With the CM's META-INF folder I can't install, status 7 error.

NEW UPDATE: IT BOOTED!! but how....? Here it is........
I just replaced the boot.img from the wiko stairway flashable zip with the boot.img I created with repacking my phone's kernel and CM's ramdisk.
SO, I just changed the boot.img !!!! Testing.......
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Testing results: buggy mobile network and sound not working. I guess this is why all those files are needed to be copied. I think I ll start copying..... But I wonder...what did I do wrong earlier while copying,,,?
You will get status 7 error because it is a security feature which doesn't allow to flash one device's ROM to other. You have to edit using any text editor and remove first line in the update-script found in meta-inf/com/Google/android/
Also don't use other rom's meta-inf as they have different symbolic links which may not boot the device.
Your phone's modules will be different from wiko's. That's why you got buggy audio and network. Replace all the mentioned files.
sent from my iris458Q using XDA mobile app
Okay, after some hours of trial and error I copied all the porting files provided in the op, except 2:
-libjpeg.so - When I port this from stock, Cm boots, but cannot show images, every single image, including the bootanimation is black.
-libmedia.so - When I port this from stock, Cm stays in the bootanimation forever. (No bootloop, just bootanimation forever)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The "extra" bugs that I have are:
1. No sound from the speaker (but yes in the headphone).
2. Weak signal. I don't know if this is normal. It has 1 bar and sometimes it has 0 and says no service. Also, the name of the tile in the QuickSettings is 20201 (weird...). I also get a message when the rom boots and it says: "Restricted Access changed. Data service is blocked." This appears sometimes at random too.
3. USB storage doesn't work through Android.... ( I don't know if this is normal too). When I plug it on PC it just charges. (Note: I now see that other devices have this problem too. I found a partial workaround in the MMX Canvas HD cm10.2 section)
PS. Would logcat help in any of these problems?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I moved on, and took some adb logcats.
1. I took the audio.txt as follows: started logcat, pressed play on the apollo widget, pressed pause, stopped logcat
2. I took the signal.txt as follows: started logcat (while on Airplane mode), disable Airplane mode (from quickSettings tiles), enable mobile data, disable mobile data, enable Airplane mode, stop logcat
I'll look at logs meanwhile I never had problem with signal, speaker audio and images. To get USB storage working add these lines to build.prop and reboot
persist.sys.usb.config=mass_storage,adb
persist.sys.usb.config=mtp,adb
For signal issue , did u replace your modem.IMG in CM ROM ?
For image issue try those 2 files from wiko ROM.
Edit:
Try to freshly port CM once again as given in guide with some changes in meta-inf and build.prop as I gave. If you still have problems then report here.
I couldn't debug audio log but in signal log > network is disconnected as data is enabled and even it's saying messaging settings are false. There may be issue with modem.img
sent from my iris458Q using XDA mobile app
Thanks for the USB storage tip. At least the internal SD can be seen now by the computer.
Images are OK now with the lib of CM.
For signal issue I copied modem.IMG from stock into the CM rom, and still having problems.
Btw, I just created a new thread for my device, I hope this is not a problem.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...cubot-gt99-t2834832/post54542482#post54542482
Cheers !! I'll add your device in the ported list. As I said previously all necessary files should be replaced in CM to be bug free except major BT,camera,hwcomposer,FM,GPS,2nd Sim bugs.
Also USB storage is buggy now as SD card is unmounted in mass storage mode but not mounted on PC and when disconnected from PC it doesn't get mounted and you have to reboot to get it working on android. Also mtp mode sometimes doesn't work

Nice!
The only file missing is /lib/libmedia.so and I 'm starting to think that this may be the cause of the sound bug. But when I copy it from the stock rom, I get boot problems...
Anyway, thanks for your help, and sorry that I messed up/spammed your thread. I think the most important part of the job is done..! Good job!
EDIT: I think I sort of fixed the mobile network issue. I used a modem.img from another version of stock rom and it seems to work. However I still get the error "Restricted Access changed. Data service is blocked." But I have full signal and 3G! It's something!
Restricted access notification occurs if you enable or disable data and turn on/off airplane mode and phone and it is not a issue I think. It may be cyanogenMod's security message or something.
Also try libmedia.so from other
Stock rom which you said above.

You can't patch binder.c from boot.IMG. You must be having kernel source for your device and you must patch binder.c in kernel. If you don't have kernel source then its almost impossible to get KitKat. See if your device clones have kernel source for their device. Else look for almost similar specs device with same processor. My device has mt6589m but no source from vendor. I used similar mt6589m device's source to build kernel. Now CM 11 is booting but no display due to different GPU config. So it's really hard if you don't have source. Try with CM 10.2 first .
EDIT- Previously I have told why you get status 7 error. So read whole thread before posting here. Good luck

Good work, comrade! I flashed CM11 on the Moto Defy - everything works!
We did observed some cases, where a "new life (resized)" Defy is not booting anymore. Only solution was to reflash SBF and start from scratch.
Does this mean, it is possible to recover TWRP from PC? That would be a step a head!
This is amazing! Everytime I needed to reflash the stock ROM I needed to install cm10, then cm11, then new bootsrap etc...
Unfortunately I don't use Windows...
@Octanium91 Would you mind if I port your script to GNU/Linux?

Maybe. If Iunderstand with GNU/Linux scripts
The new version, V4
The new version, V4
Changes:
The script changed drastically
After installation removes trash from the memory card (so far only on Android 4.x and higher)
More debugging: Now the script itself is not closed, and tells the user exactly what happened.
Sorry debris removal only works on Android 4.x and later.
Linux port done!
@Octanium91 I ported it to C++ (for Linux only at the moment). Please add it to the first post . Here is the link: MediaFire | MEGA
On Ubuntu just mount the ISO as image (not archive) then click 'Run' (or you can also extract the ISO and run the executable directly). It works on x86 (32 bit) and x86_64 (64 bit) CPUs. The source code is also included in the ISO. Tested on Ubuntu 14.10 and 16.04 (64 bit).
I tested it with both stock 2.3.6 rooted and CM11. It seems that the stock ROM won't boot after flashing the new bootstrap, but the recovery works fine
Also your version has a very bad bug: it flashes Defy bootstrap even on Bravo!!! It should flash Motorola Bravo specific bootstrap instead. My version only works for Motorola Defy and Defy+ at the moment, but you can edit the source code. EDIT: they are the same file with different names. I updated my version to support MB520.
After run the command script, when i boot in TWRP SDcard shows 0mb.
Already tried flashing the SBF recommended by quarx and after that the root SBF, but the result is always the same.
With CM recovery i can see the SDcard properly, but after the resize, or bootstrap, i always get 0mb at SDcard.
Any help?
Thanks!

Greetings guys, I'm a user from the Atrix 2 section and a part of the current device supporters there. It's a pleasure to finally post here, 'the domain of Quarx' haha.
I was wondering if this recovery is able to flash and boot android Lollipop 5.0 roms yet? If so, then is there some way to port it from source to my or other similar Moto devices in the OMAP bracket with locked bootloaders?
I'm an Android novice, but I'm experienced in building custom recoveries and roms, as well as beginner git commands, so no need to hold anything back, lol. I appreciate the work you're all doing here, please continue to make the difference. Thanks for reading this and take care!

Hi!
flash and boot android Lollipop 5.0 roms - just can not say, but it is theoretically possible (need to check).
If so, then is there some way to port it from source to my or other similar Moto device - No, this is not possible (specifically, in this case). BUT this method you can set recovery to another smartphone (it is theoretically, need to try)
Here recovery that are in the public domain, I think that they can install Lollipop 5.0 roms - TWRP2 \ Safestrap
Moto devices in the OMAP bracket with locked bootloaders? - Most likely will not work, but no one stops to try

Many thanks for the prompt and well ordered reply! I'll look into your suggestions and I'm aware that there aren't many available recovery software for our locked bootloader phones.
We were actually trying to get Safestrap working on our device since last month, but it's failing to work correctly in booting our kexec roms. So I thought I'd ask here since the Defy works by using the 2nd boot like us, but it's still under investigation. Thanks again for your assistance, we're not out of the game yet and we'll get things rolling eventually. Take care!

You can send us a screenshot?
I had a successful installation of a december build and twrp 2,6x installed, everything ran just fine. But when the CM tells me there is a update and i download it does not install from recovery, get errormsg. Also apps like rom manager pro tells my phone is not compatible with any updates, and that i should install CWM recovery. So is it possible to install a real CWM on a defy mb526?
Hi, I flashed Recovery BootStrap v4 on the Defy MB525, but its not working. After flash and reboot, phone starts booting, but it ends up with the following screen.
Doesn't matter if I choose Recovery or continue. I can press the menu button (to choose recovery) and nothing happen, till the 3rd press. Than display goes black and thats all .
Any idea where could be the problem or what I'm doing wrong?
Edit: maybe its related to the bootloader version, which is 09.10

In principle it is possible, but it does not make sense.

Introduction
If you want to put root and TWRP on your device then you have to commit to this as there is no going back from Alcatel to Vodafone firmware after this unless someone uses the scatter file for this device to perform a readback (SP Flash Tool, search: Hovatek how to make a full backup of your stock ROM using sp flash tool, however, the dev blocks should be gathered straight from the scatter file, not MTK droid tools. Will update this if this happens it is successfully conducted by someone ) This little corner of XDA will show you how to:
Flash Alcatel Firmware
Install Custom Recovery (TWRP/CTR)
Root with SuperSU
Install one custom ROM (Cyanogen MOD 13)
NOTE: I will NOT teach you how to install drivers if you need to do that go to https://forum.hovatek.com/thread-440.html (If you are running Windows 7 and up you need to disable 'Driver Signature Verification', this link will show you how to do it: https://forum.hovatek.com/thread-752.html
If you can't figure out how to that by yourself (everything is a google search away) then you shouldn't even attempt any of this.
All files will be on AndroidFileHost
If you want to download all the files for all the tutorials, then you can download the complete package which has everything required for the tutorials (except for drivers of course)

I have questions......
Since Google keeps crashing me out of apps and breaking my brightness control to send me ads and try to get me to install experimental zombies this past month, I'm keen to try this on my VFD501 Vodafone Smart Turbo 7 but.....
Does the initial step have to be Alcatel? I only ask because my SIM is 2 Degrees and I don't know if it'll work with it as it's a bit sketchy while it's still thinking it's a Vodafone.
Is the second step the ONLY rom it'll work with? How far can the hardware be pushed or more efficient?
Lastly, would I still be able to get updates for the usual app suspects? I'm getting further into Minecraft now there's online server games and I'm not finding any options for updates other than through the Play Store. I also watch quite a bit of YouTube on it (another Google aquisition). Would these be denied me by the EvilCorp™ once I free my phone from it's clutches and get rid of Google Movies, Google Mail, Google other bloatware aside from Books where I have several and would like to keep reading them?
HIe, when can we get the custom rom.looks great.
Do you still have the mixed Spanish English rom?
Could you post that please if you still have it? When i installed the cyanogenmod after flashing to alcatel after locking the screen and turning it on again it won't render properly anymore, i just see random lines. Thank you in anticipation!
guys, please can anyone make a backup (TWRP)of stock ROM with /system /data /FRP /protect /boot ? with any google account please.
i want to unlock FRP on my vfd500, i gorgot my google account on this phone so i cant go pass setup wizzard, thanks

So far you have to flash Alcatel to do any modding whatsoever, however, I may have a solution so we can get root on VFD 500 running Vodafone stock but not VFD 501 (however I'm begging my friend to borrow his to do a Miracle Box Backup so fingers crossed :silly: so I can get the 501 version of the Vodafone OS) if the solution works I will release a video on it, if you want to know if you have to flash Alcatel for custom ROMs yes you need Alcatel for the ROMs there is currently no ROMs for this device, and I don't know how to make and edit ROMs just gonna put that out their
Not working for me. Format completed OK. but then error "S_FT_ENABLE_DRAM_FAIL (0xFC0)" given when doing the download and format. Vodafone VFD501, used scatter file provided, drivers appear to be installed ok except i get "MediaTek USB port" used by the firmware loader. "MediaTek Preloader USB VCOM Port" stays even when phone is not plugged in and had yellow triangle

Solved now using this rom and instructions.
Can't post links so google - Download Vodafone Stock Rom for all models - Android MTK and look for VFD500 in the list
The driver tool uninstalled lots of drivers i think this may have helped it use the "MediaTek Preloader USB VCOM Port" which allowed it to write to the phone. Took about 10-15 mins to boot afterwards, I thought it was stuck but just a slow phone

Hi!
I get a Vodafone_Smart_Turbo_7_VFD500 phone bricked and was very dificult to find a working rom, there are a few that boot but after locking the phone screen goes mad...
I fixed a RR rom, still not perfect but is better.
One kwon issue is charging with phone off, screen stays white and on...
I Let here a link with:
SP_Flash_Tool_v5.1916_Win
SP_USB_Win7_Drivers ( Copy to Desktop and execute the shortcut)
Vodafone_Smart_Turbo_7_VFD500_MT6735M_V2.39.1_21122016_6.0 ROM to flash with SP Tool
open_gapps-arm-7.1-nano-20191029.zip
RR-N-v5.8.5-PIXI4_5_4G.zip (Fixed) Rom
TWRP3.0.2-0_VDF500.img Recovey (Use SP Tool with MT6735M_Android_scatter.txt from Vodafone ROM to flash it)
To use SP tool, first install the drivers then open SP tool, search for MT6735M_Android_scatter.txt file. To install full Vodafone ROM click in Download only and select Format All + Download then Download key above and plug USB, to install TWRP unselect all and only select recovery and click in location field, search for TWRP, click in download from above and plug USB ( If faild with error you need to flash all Vodafone ROM first).
After all this, use TWRP to flash RR Rom then Gapps.
