Hi guys,
is there a way to have the double tap feature to wake up the phone?
I mean without install a new rom. Maybe installing a kernel that support the stock rom.
Thanks

install blue spark kernel stock version
Thanks a lot for the reply. Could you give me extra informazions about that kernel?
Where I can find it and if it is possibile to restore the original kernel in the case I don't like this one.
Thanks you
EDIT:
I found the kernel. But int the last post the developer says that the kernel will not be updated anymore. Do you advise to install anyway?
Interested in this as well, haven't found specific info on installing the "blue spark kernel stock version" on the Moto G 2015 though?
EDIT - ah ok it's here http://forum.xda-developers.com/2015-moto-g/orig-development/kernel-t3207597 - going to read up!
EDIT2 - ah bit confused on what needs to be done to flash the kernel...(is it dt.img ?) TWRP needed (I have it since I rooted) ? Also someone mentions going back to stock kernel if need be here http://forum.xda-developers.com/201...ent/kernel-t3207597/post63208808#post63208808 but I can't say it's very clear to me

If you want to install the blu_spark kernel you have to download a zip file from this page. If you come from example from the stock rom you have to download "blu_spark_r92-stock-5.1.1_osprey_1562e7b.zip". To flash the zip you have to go in recovery mode and install it.
About restoring stock kernel as far as I read from the message you linked you have to:
-First backup the boot partition from TWRP and save it somewhere
-Do something...
-If you want restore the stock kernel you have to restore the boot partition you have saved in the first step (do it always from TWRP)
Thanks, it's a bit more clear now, are you going to give that kernel a try? On top of the double tap I'd be interested in getting improved battery life as well.
Well, I'm quite uncertain.
First option: install a custom kernel
Pros:
Install a single zip file instead of flash a custom ROM (losing all data)
Maintain the stock ROM
Cons:
Development for blu_spark kernel is abandoned (like the developer said in the last post of the topic). Yeah, you would have the double tap feature but have a kernel with no support. An option could be install this kernel and as soon as possible change it with a new one with active support. What do you think about?
The other kernel (squid kernel) misses this features (double tap to wake up)
Second option: install a custom ROM (e.g. Cyanogenmod 13)
Pros:
Very good ROM (from my own experience with other devices like Nexus 7 and Huawei)
If I'm not mistaken Cyanogenmod has the double tap features as a default feature
Cons:
Losing all data flashing the new ROM (actually not a very problem)
Losing the stock ROM (this is a not very problem too)
Smart creen on off is the solution!
It's available on play store. No root needed.
Thanks for the reply.
How about the drain battery of an app (such as Smart Screen Off) compared to a built in kernel feature?
None of the apps I've seen works well with double tapping as they want you to double tap on the proximity sensor. One option I've seen that works ok is "waving" if you set it to 3 quick waves. Not as nice as double topping.
It seems that a new kernel has appeared. It has the double tap to wake and is currently supported.
There is only a small problem: it doesn't support the stock ROM, but the CM13 yes.
Not hw feature. Can use more battery
Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk
Thanks for the heads up, no go for stock 5.1.1 though
Did you ever try the other kernel now abandoned? That one worked with stock apparently.

Marshmallow?
1. I noticed that in the OP it said M8 GPE so is this ROM a port of sorts of the marshamallow GPE ROM of the M8 or does it just have some inclusions from that ROM? If it's the former then this is freaking amazing!
2. Since this ROM is based on Skydragon does that mean that the installation instructions from Skydragon apply to this ROM? Such as needing to be S-OFF. I am S-ON so that's why I ask.
3. If it does require S-OFF can I just manually flash the boot image like in santod040 M7 GPE ROM to make it work?
It sadly doesn't boot. I'm stucked for 30 mins in boot loading screen.

In fact installer and build number are unaltered.
Same install methods apply if you are S-ON.
It's lollipop as is the M8 UI which adds the following features:
Lockscreen DT2S
Statusbar DT2S
Clear all recent apps
No search bar in recents
Centred statusbar clock (optional)
Right Quick Settings pulldown

Cheers Liam. Involved me getting some things working and adding good tweaks and apps. I've not built from source and probably never will as I personally couldn't commit that sort of time. Best part has been discovering the great open source apps and alternatives out there, which I still am.
ROM won't boot?
I followed the installation instructions written in the OP but, after leaving my phone for 20 minutes it would not boot. I then forced a restart by holding down the power button as elementalx sometimes get's ROM stuck on a bootloop and after doing that and letting it reboot for 10 minutes nothing happened. I also got a bootloop when I flashed the ROM only no elementalx. When I say bootloop it's the booting animaiton not the htc logo.
BTW in the aroma installer for elemental x kernel I selected the stock voltage instead of "Undervolt (850 min)" or any other one because undervolting could produce some boot failures. Every other setting is selected to stock.
I am using TWRP 3.0.0 recovery could that be the issue? It flashes other ROMs fine so the recovery is not corrupted.
I will attach a logcat later on so you can see what happens. Not at a computer at the moment.

ROM Booted!
I flashed the boot image provided through fastboot and then I flashed the ROM only and it booted perfectly. I only waited for around 4 minutes so it was very fast. I am S-On. Flashing the boot image definitely works
I will now try to flash the ROM plus kernel at the same time. Will edit this post in around 10 minutes.
Edit: Ok so I tried to flash kernel and ROM at same time after flashing boot image and the ROM booted perfectly. Weird thing is though that after I wiped data, cache, system, dalvik I flashed the ROM again with and without kernel (before first boot) without flashing the boot image and it worked perfectly as well. I don't know what was going on with my phone last time I tried to flash were it got stuck on bootloops. This is very strange as I haven't changed my firmware on my phone since last time I tried or done anything differently in my flashing procedures.
Well for how weird this experience was, I am very glad that I am able to use your ROM so I can provide feedback and also be able to enjoy it.
As was my plan all along, kltevzw official support for AOSP roms is picking up. Please see this thread for official downloads and support:

FAQ:
Q: Can I use this?
A: Do you have a developer aboot? If so then yes, but I won't help you install a developer aboot. I only ever had a Developer phone, so I only know the process as well as reading the thread. See this thread for info/help: HERE
Q: When/how often are these built?
A: Less often than my CM13.0 build, but at least every week. Unlike my CM13.0 build, I don't use this ROM so I won't be doing a "does it boot" check before uploading. Please tell the entire thread if one day's build doesn't work properly.
Q: Can I get help with something?
A: I have a full-time job and travel a lot. I'll try to jump in and answer some questions, but there is a lot of info out there for you to learn on your own. Aside from you having a vzw-variant, most of the details are standard KLTE. Please see the normal Resurrection Remix KLTE thread for standard ROM help.

Recovery:
The standard KLTE TWRP 3.1.0-0 should mostly work, but MTP doesn't work for any klte* variant using it.
I prefer KToonsez's 2.8.6-based Recovery. It's older, but MTP works.
There are Unofficial 3.*.0-* recoveries available by @jcadduono. I find that these don't support decryption properly, which I find to be mandatory.
Like many other devices, the .zip files can be flashed in a recovery. The .tar.md5 files can be flashed in ODIN. The .img files can be flashed using Flashify, a TWRP recovery. You can even get an .img file from a .zip or .tar.md5 if you just open it up.
If you use adopted storage then things get odd. The latest recovery by @jcadduono MAY support adopted storage if you don't encrypt userdata (I personally know that TWRP handles adopted storage for jflte and d2), but I do use encryption so I don't use that recovery. It may be that you only see /data/media/0 -- if so, I find that using Flashify for each nightly is the most straightforward way to update, but you could always manually copy to /data/media/0 before rebooting to recovery. This is a standard Marshmallow and TWRP thing.

Modem/Firmware:
Most of the LP modem/firmwares should work, but I use the one PB1 here. This modem matches with the proprietary vendor files that are part of the build. Flash it in ODIN. Please note that some have reported that you cannot flash these after the aboot unlock; If you cannot flash the PB1 modem/non-hlos it shouldn't cause any big problems.

Someone needs to be the guinea pig. I know how much a pain it can be setting a ROM up from a clean install, but if CM feels just a bit too vanilla then I'd say jump into the pool.
Alright going to download and flash it now and I will report back to you thanks for your hard work!
---------- Post added at 01:06 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:35 AM ----------
Hagg flashed the rom and everything seems to be working so far I can make calls and receive texts I prefer RR to CM13 for the features! Just wish there was a way to get my Gear S to connect to non Touchwiz roms but oh well I'll just use it as a regular watch or maybe get an AW watch lol
Running CM13, what's different?
Hmmm extra features to be honest I like CM13 but it's so boring and as a guy that actually likes Touchwiz RR is nice because of the added customization!
So I've for RR installed. Few things I noticed right away: Built in ad-away, nice! Uses super-su. I personally have no issue with the built in root, but whatever. Other than that, it's very close to CM13 in terms of speed and look/feel.
Edit: One weird glitch I've run into on both this and CM13 is that the camera app gives and error "gallery has stopped working" when launched from the icon. If i used the double power button though, then the icon starts working. Any ideas?
Edit2 : It seems to be the default camera icon that is on the home screen in both ROMS. I noticed the graphic is slightly different from the dock as it is in the app window. Deleted bad icon and replaced with app windows one and it works fine. Probably an easy fix!
No glitches, no forced closes. Everything works, and works smooth. Very nice. My new daily driver.
Unlocked and loaded RR with OpenGApps..
No issues...running great!!
Thanks!!
Will try later, thanks haggertk for your work...
Just turned my S5 into DEV last night but do not want the Bluetooth and wifi bugs of CM13 so...
1) Are there major bugs present in RR like those in CM13 (Bluetooth, wifi)?
2) To be clear, is RR Marshmallow 6.0.1 as well (might be helpful to state the Android version explicitly somewhere for us newbies to custom ROMs)? I know CM13 is mentioned in different places and 6.0 is mentioned in the GApps section, but I don't see the Android version like on the RR Changelog (ResurrectionRemix - v5.6.5 - 20160313 #Marshmallow 6.0.1_r22).
3) Are there S5 functions that won't work with RR like the fingerprint reader or is it pretty flawless?
4) Does Xposed work?
5) If I am coming from KK stock 4.4.4 NK1, do I need to do something special with the Modem as discussed in the OP such as somehow flashing the PB1 Modem?
6) I am betting I have to wipe my S5 clean before flashing this ROM, but is it reasonably painless to restore all my apps and settings with Titanium Backup?
7) Is there a patch for RR to make the front speaker work when playing music similar to a patch I found on KK that does? Love that functionality and don't want to lose it.
8) Are there other Marshmallow S5 Dev ROMS besides CM13 and RR or are these the best options right now?
Thanks!

Guessing the "6. not sure" was in response to the Front Speaker question and not the Upgrade question, so how difficult is it to reinstall all apps using Titanium Backup or something similar? Or is there a way to upgrade without having to reinstall apps?
Front speaker doesn't work out of the box in RR, right? (where a patch isn't necessary)
Thanks for all your feedback!

Would one of you on RR be so kind as to send me the mixer_paths.xml (if that's what it's still called in MM) in your System > Etc folder (assuming folder structure is the same in MM also)? I would like to compare it to the surround sound modded file I installed in KK as per the following link: http://www.naldotech.com/enable-stereo-surround-sound-speakers-galaxy-s5. I am probably not technically capable of making the same thing possible in MM with the S5 front speaker, but it's entirely possible the same modded file I have will work in MM and it's possible a comparison will reveal only a few lines of code to modify that I could do.
Thanks in advance!
Hello, i reality want to activate the LG function Knock on on my new motorola moto g 3.
How I can enable it? I'm on 5.1.1 stock lollipop because I've read that it works better than android 6, I read too that this function need an custom kernel, I prefer to keep my stock rom, is really working amazing, are a way to use this option without touch the kernel?
I want the real knock on, that works with the screen off like LG phones, I've tried some apps but they keep the screen on or the proximity sensor on and this drains the battery obviously, so that's not what I'm looking for, my device is rooted.
Thanks.

You heard right, this requires a custom kernel that has DT2W (Double Tap to Wake) compiled into the kernel, then you have to use a tool like Kernel Aduitor to enable it on each boot since even kernels that have this feature usually have it disabled by default.
Not that this will increase drain battery anywhere from 1% to 3% per hour (usually on the lower end of that range though, depends on usage)

Thanks for the full answer! Well looks very well 1 or 3% of battery for that option, you can say to me what kernel is recommended for this?
AGNi or Explosion kernel are the only two I know with DT2W still enabled... FireKernel used to have it, but it was removed a few versions ago.
Make sure to backup in TWRP before flashing a kernel, if you want to switch kernels after flashing a custom one to try something different, restore the boot partition, and boot fully before flashing a different custom kernel.

Really thank you for your help, now I have another question, do you know how to activate the option on camerafv5 for manual focus? It is possible? I've read that will work with the new camera2api included on lollipop but I dunno how's that.

Pretty sure the G3 doesn't support Camera API2

The reason I am posting here and not in the Rom section is because I am not a developer. I am an Android enthusiast who, with the help of a few awesome tools, some reading and some help from a couple of great devs, I was able to build a custom rom from a stock first release. I have been running it now for a couple of weeks and battery life is awesome. Just enough Samsung apks left in too call it a stock rom but not so many to cause it to lag. I thought that since it was running so nice, I would share it with you. So, without further ado, this is what I came up with.
"Ghost Project v1.0 6.0.1 t350" This is only for the t350.
With the help of a few awesome people, that provided me with the direction and resources links, I was able to take a stock firmware.tar (T350XXU1BPE3) and make a TWRP flashable zip. This is what I came up with:
I am not a developer..... Let me make this clear.. Lol.. I am not a developer. But I did use an awesome tool that allowed me to make this rom " superr kitchen" .... http://forum.xda-developers.com/chef-central/android/kitchen-superrs-kitchen-t3202296/page26
So first and foremost a big thanks goes out to this developer for this awesome tool.
I would also like to give props to Samsung and Sammobile.com for the firmware.
The kernel is from http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-a/development/kernel-galaxy-tab-sm-t555-5-8-2016-t3433560 and is a stock, permissive kernel. By "[ashyx, http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=4899305 Recognized Contributor]" another awesome dev. This is a stock kernel in every respect with SElinux set to permissive.
I would also like to thank and give props to"{FankieT} of {R3Ds themes and Development}" https://plus.google.com/communities/102477541363210451018 for all of his help and guidance. He was who got me started into Linux through Ubuntu and spent many hours teaching this old dog the ways of Android coding. Just a pinch of coding on my part..lol

Use at your own risk. ********You have been warned..*********
Features:
1. Rooted with chainfires SuperSu in system, not systemless (I hate systemless root)
2. Busybox installed
3. Debloated. I didn't go too far (for reliability) but will work on getting more Samsung system apps removed.
4. Zip aligned
5. Deodexed (I may make one that is odexed later on)
6. Removed Kies
7. Custom kernel
Stock but SElinux permissive (see note on developer in Intro)
8. Some script changes but nothing to change system behavior
9. Added ES File explorer v3.2.5.
This app will try to update unless Play Store settings are changed to not auto update. But if you like the latest than update it.
10. Added Nova Launcher v3.3
I don't like the newer Material Designed updated builds. This will also try to update unless settings in Play Store are set to not auto update.
11. Latest Google Keyboard.
I just don't care for Samsung's and like the theming features of Google's latest keyboard. Samsung keyboard is still in though if you prefer to use it instead.
12. According to the toolkit, Knox was removed. Although I still see it in the settings tab under Settings/about phone. I don't think this can be removed safely however all updates (annoying notifications stating that there is an update available) have been removed so there shouldn't be any chance of accidentally updating to the latest firmware, if any is released. If you want an update than you will have to download any updates ( if the are any) from Samsung and use Odin to install it.
Kernel:
Here is a link to the kernel developer's thread, who is another awesome dev, who's kernel is the heart of this rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...el-galaxy-tab-sm-t555-5-8-2016-t3433560/page8
By "[ashyx, Recognized Contributor]" This is a stock kernel in every reguard with SElinux set to permissive.
A few other small things here and there but mostly stock.
-This is a flashable zip using TWRP recovery and I highly recommend the 2.8.7.0 build as apposed to the 3.0.2.0 build that is also on XDA in this forum.
Link to recovery built by "ashyx" an awesome dev...

-Since this is a stock rom build, gapps are included
#####Flashing instructions#######
###MUST BE ON MARSHMALLOW BUILD ****T350XXU1BPE3******####### so, if you are on a lollipop build (5.0.1) you need to update to 6.0.1 and have TWRP installed........
1. Make a backup onto your external SD card or on a PC using TWRP recovery. This is a very important step as things do go wrong. You have been warned.
2. Wipe. I recommend a clean install with all 4 major wipes done (system, Cache, Dalvik Cache and Data)
3. Flash "Ghost Project v1.0 6.0.1 t350" rom zip.
4. Wipe both Cache and Dalvik Cache
5. Reboot to system and profit.
*****The first boot will take a long time to boot. Put the device down and walk away until it boots (could take up to 15 minutes ) but most likely around 12 to 15 minutes. That is because all files are deodexed.
After it boots up Go ahead and set up the device the way you like it and enjoy.
I also have a Google Plus Communitee Called "Hayes Tech Rom Reviews" where you can go to watch reviews/overviews of custom roms for many devices that I own. I have about 20 to 25 devices now and try to do reviews on all the diferent roms out for them. I also have awesome links like the 3Minit battery mod by{made by "gharrington"} for the Nexus 6 and many more things. Please feel free to stop by.

Warning, I am not a developer. All I am doing is sharing my personal build. I am not nor will I be responsible for anyone ruining your device. Thermonuclear war or Loss of job from device not working is your responsibility. And above all this zip will void your warranty.
I can't think of anything else..lol.. This is the first time for me so I'm not too sure about proper post etiquette for Custom Roms. I am not posting in the roms section because I am not a developer. I do not have the skills those great people have. We just do not have any stock based roms yet and mine is running great so I am sharing with you all. I am going to try to add more custom features and may even add a pure stock rom for total stock experience, let me know... Enjoy.
A video review of my rom... Go here if you would like to see it

I built another rom for those that want the stock experience but still want it rooted and Knox removed. It is also Zip Aligned and is running the same permissive kernel for Xposed Mods to work better with it.

Yes it does. I used the kernel that is in this forum to build it with and it is a permissive kernel. The version is v87.1-sdk23-arm made by Wanam specifically for Samsung. I am running it now asking with gravitybox and a few other mods.
Just remember that since it is deodexed it will take a long, long time to boot. I timed it on my last 2 flashes at around 13 minutes both times. My battery life is outstanding.

Just installed this, flashed it and xposed at the same time, took 7 minutes to boot the first time.
Updating, reinstalling and debloating things I don't need now.
Seems faster than the debloated 5.02 rom I was on.
Will keep you posted after everything is done

Wanam isn't changing the clock color or left hand icons for me.

I screwed something up with a xposed module (I guess, everything was fine until I installed a power menu module and told it to reboot into recovery). No matter what I did, It would only boot into twrp. Even if I powered off and plugged the charger in, instantly twrp. Reflashing the rom did absolutely nothing, I had to odin stock then reflash this rom.
Ah well, live and learn with xposed.. I know not to install that power module lol

I hear ya. Xposed is something I use only if I know the module. I never use test version (anymore .. lol) I did the same thing you did a whike back with some other mod.
The only mods I use are Gravitybox, Notify Clean, Xuimod, and sometimes either HK theme engine out Xtheme engine. Gravitybox has most all mods that I need built right in it including an advanced powed menus settings.
Also, when you were in that issue, did you try using the Xposed uninstall zip? That may have got you fixed up too.

Well, even with gravitybox's reboot menu, if i have it boot me into recovery it sets the recoverybit and makes me reflash stock firmware.
so DON'T pick recovery from your reboot menu

I use it all the time. I just rebooted into recovery just before I responded here. Anyways there are also app on the p

Thanks goes out to @wbrambley for his involvement in testing & helping to solve / fix bugs!
I noticed that "mm-pp-daemon" was stopping the CPU from going in to sleep state and keeping it at full clocks but after killing the process it reloaded and was fine.
@nutsda, I've tried to pm this but its not working. Probably some spell check safety net
You should post a link here. http://www.modaco.com/forums/forum/796-vodafone-smart-ultra-6/
the SU6 has its own device forum on Modaco and I'm sure it would create some interest.
I've pushed(?) a change that enables the NFC and also put up my overlay folders. There's some stuff in there you might like.
The sensors (Accelerometer, Magnetic field and Rotation vector) are still causing grief.
How fast is your phone to "wake up" from sleep? My buttons light up but screen on takes about 5 seconds. (could be the sensor hal cal firing up but im not 100% sure.)

Use recovery to flash a 5.1 stock ROM, then you can get temporary root. I'm guessing you've found a guide for this. After that I recommend flashing stock MM from TWRP. There's one with edited uodater-script around that will work.
Hint: look at the forum I posted earlier.

I haven't tried the other custom roms but I believe it will be because most of them are ported from another phone rather than specifically built for this phone.

You have to download SuperSU to get root access as Lineage doesn't have root access built in.
