KatKiss ROM
MarshMallow 6.0.1 ReleaseAsus TF700T - TF201
This rom is an aosp based rom with my own additions on top of it.
The main motto of the rom being Kiss. Even though the Meerkat could give you a kiss, it stands for Keeps it Sweet and Simple too
Which means that just like the other K.A.T stuff, the rom's main goal is efficiency, speed/responsiveness,
while not adding bloated features that will slow things down
DOWNLOADS:
TF700 Latest Rom Version: KatKiss-6.0_TF700T_029.zip | Mirror
TF201 Latest Rom Version: KatKiss-6.0_TF201_029.zip | Mirror
Gapps: OpenGapps ARM 6.0 Pico
(if you want "Now on Tap", use the Nano version, and activate Now on Tap from google now settings)
SuperSU (for root): SuperSU BETA 2.52
F2FS: The included kernel will autodetect if partitions are f2fs or ext4 (so you do not need to flash a separate F2FS kernel)
Install Instructions:
Install a F2FS compatible TWRP Recovery (KANG TWRP recommended)
Backup everything !
Boot into the recovery
The first time or everytime you have an issue when dirty flashing (Especially when changing android versions):
[*] do a full wipe , if you have issues make sure that you format /data (format is different than wipe)
Warning: formatting will remove what is stored in your internal storage, so store the rom /gapps/supersu zips onto an external storage (microSD, SD card..) or make sure you know how to push them back through adb.
Change /data filesystem to f2fs
Then everytime (even when "dirty flashing") do the following steps:
Flash the rom
Flash the SuperSU zip
[*]Flash gapps
Wipe cache/dalvik
Reboot

Tips
First Install
Make sure you do a format /data the first time you install the rom (f2fs)
(backup your internal storage first if you want to keep something)
First boot takes ~4-5 minutes without gapps and 10+ minutes with gapps and /data as f2fs
Also keep in mind that after a fresh install, it might take a bit of time to get up to full speed as media scanner & google are checking/scanning and restoring stuff.
Bluetooth
Bluetooth might require to be turned on twice before it scans and displays the available devices.
Wallpaper Modes
Different Wallpaper modes have been added in Settings => Display
** Normal (regular android mode)
** Disable System Wallpaper rendering (set as default)
** Disable Wallpaper service
2nd setting will prevent the wallpaper being rendered by the system making things faster and also freeing resources
That's the recommended setting you want to use if you are using a launcher that has internal wallpaper rendering
The Default included Launcher3 has internal rendering
For Nova: Go to its Settings => Desktop => Wallpaper Scrolling => Force , then set a wallpaper.
(You will see a black wallpaper if you're not using a launcher that can do internal rendering, If wallpaper is important and that you want to keep your current launcher, then switch back to the 1st setting)
Google Play Movies
Our current Widevine DRM libs are not compatible in MM.
So you can't play a movie on the tablet with Google Play Movies as it requires that.
Starting a movie to play on chromecast should be fine as the drm will be the chromecast one in that case.
GPS
To get a quicker fix for the GPS, install the K.A.T app (the audio part will not work on the TF700T)
But go to install => and check "install GPS quicker fix & assistance"
then click Install
Reboot, and you should be all set.
With that I get a 9 satellites fix under 10 seconds, and 13 sats in about 30 seconds.
Also make sure that the app you're using is recent enough and is asking to access location at runtime.
(a popup should appear to ask for the permission)
Hardware keyboard layouts
More languages have been added in the default asusec keyboard
Set the keyboard layout through Settings => Language & Input => asusec => setup keyboard layouts
These also allow live switching without reboot with ctrl + space
Global Key Override/Shorcut Mecanism
Available in Settings => Dock => Add Key Override Actions
This will allow you not only to redefine function keys assignment, and other special keys actions,
but you'll also be able to assign global macro actions / app launch to any key + Meta key combination (shift Left or Right , ctrl..)
You can also add multiple actions to one key combination, simply click again on the "+" button for the same key combination.
For example if you want to assign to one key combination a list of action to run before going to bed for example, like: turn wifi off, Bluetooth off, mute sound, and turn screen off, you can do that
Note that starting multiple applications with one key is kinda a miss and hit for the moment due to some mecanism in android that seems to prevent applications to start too close to each others.
Storage (fstrim) and Database optimization:
Fstrim is native since 4.3 and will happen in the background if your tablet is idle / sleeping and that your battery is > 70%
There is also a script to run it manually in the rom: /etc/kat/optimizestorage
To optimize the Database: /etc/kat/optimizedb
To run both, open a terminal and run:
su
/etc/kat/optimize
MultiWindows
Multiwindow allows you to split the screen in 2, 3 or 4 panes
you can switch an app back and forth between multiwindow mode and regular mode while it's running
NavBar:
- To switch between full screen and split View you can use the
NavBar Buttons
The app that currently has the focus (or the latest used app if you're on the Desktop) will be used for the main pane (left and/or top depending on the mode and rotation)
And it will lay the remaining most recently used apps in the rest of the available 1-2-3 panes depending on the icon you click
- If you press a multiwindow icon again when in splitview mode, it'll bring the focused app back to fullscreen mode.
- To swap the 2 latest focused apps location / pane , long press on the
NavBar Button
- To change focus simply Tap on the app or use the
NavBar Button
That button can also be used in non multiwindow mode to switch quickly between the 2 most recent apps.
Global Actions:
Actions to switch the app between fullscreen / splitview 2-3-4 panes and swap or switch between the 2 most recent apps have been added
so you can bind them to a key / key combination with the Global KeyOverride or long press on navbar button too.
Note: Most apps works ok in splitview mode, but some of them might crash or not refresh correctly sometime.
To manually position an app in one of the pane:
For the moment either reorder your apps before clicking on an auto mode icon,
or you can also activate the default Marshmallow Multiwindow mode to get extra icons to positions an app in a specific pane (activate it in developer options )
Then position the apps with the icons from the Recents screen. (default MM recents icons are for 2 or 4 panes)

it's good to see Marshmallow on TF700
I would like to give a try and choose which ROM is the best for me (Cromi-X 5.4 or KatKiss MM) But I can't install the ROM because there are some problems between my Internet connection and XDA : Download slows and stops after a few minutes and Network error...
Can you Upload the file elsewhere please ?
Thank you in advance

EDIT: actually, no
do not use that version, it's the version that modifies the boot img.
It doesn't seem to work with the TF700T.
Use the version linked into the 1st post.
Hmm. I'm stuck on bootanim... I saw that the flash was very very very long (approximately half an hour). Is it Normal ?
I'll retry to full wipe, format /data again and see what happens in a few time :/
ok, I'll remove the link that I put to avoid any problem

It depends on the condition of your storage when you first install.
But yes you should format /data f2fs on the first install.
Mashmallow art optimisations are stronger than lollipop and requires more time
(only on the first boot)
The first boot will then take approximatively 10 minutes from there.
just let it do its job.
If you stopped the process and hard rebooted.
Redo all the installation steps from the beginning including the format.
Yes i formated /data to f2fs
yes i hard rebooted after a long time waiting (more than twenty minutes).
Now it's stuck on bootanim again for some minutes...
Ps: I just thinked about : My /cache is f2fs too, is it a problem ? Do I need to format it to ext4 ?

Yes, only format /data f2fs
Format /cache back to ext4
Seems to be better when /cache is ext4.
After two minutes, i got "Optimizing app .. of ..."
Thank you
@maxou2600, tu pourras faire un retour sur la ROM STP ?
you'll be able to look back on the ROM please ?
RAS.
The ROM is working very well it's fast and there aren't big lags or freezes... As we can see in the first post, Bluetooth doesn't work at all. GPS doesn't work well, it takes a few minutes before it found a visible sattelite (no fix) where my LG G3 takes a few seconds to found twenty visible sattelites and fix to ten of them. Except Bluetooth and GPS, it's really good and it's a pleasure to see Marshmallow on our tablet
Just downloaded seems to be running smooth.
Issue seems to be unable to charge thru dock. But still looking to see if issue is on my side.
Thank you for all your hard work.

- Installation for broodROM RC5 -
1. If you have CWM installed: format all partitions. If you don't have CWM installed do a Hard Reset (*2767*3855#) Note: A hard reset also wipes your sdcard, make sure you got it backed up
Note: A format or hard reset is not always needed, you can always try to keep your data folder and flash broodROM RC5, wiping dalvik cache is still needed!
2. Put your phone in download mode (when off hold: vol -, home, power)
3. Start Odin, Choose AriesVE.ops file, check "One Package", choose: "broodROMRC5.tar.md5" > Click Start
4. Wait till the process is complete, now your phone will reboot and show you recovery mode, now choose reboot system now by pressing the menu button
5. Set animations to a few. (settings > display > animations) For the shutdown-style old TV animation and start enjoying your new rom

broodROM RC4 FAQ
Q: I kinda like Apple, and I don't want an android pissing on an apple as bootlogo
A: Well.. this is only a custom boot logo, you can easily change it by reflashing the SkyHigh v1.4 Kernel
Q: I want to install a system accelerator like Thunderbolt or Adrenaline shot
A: Don't do that! The SkyHigh v1.4 kernel already includes an integrated Thunderbolt, adding more tweaks would simply bootloop your phone
Q: I saw the screenstate_scaling script in /system/etc/init.d, what's up with that?
A: screenstate_scaling is an addition to Thunderbolt, in this script the default awake & sleep governors are set, this script can function as an alternative to CPU Master. You will notice that CPU Master will give you a warning each time you boot your phone since the screenstate_scaling script will interfere with it.
Q: I noticed that you have set the sleep governor to ondemand, why is that?
A: I did that because I've experienced some alarm clock fails on 100Mhz, Of course you can try it out yourself, it might work just fine
Q: I want a better battery life for your rom! How can I achieve that?
A: You can perform the following steps to gain a better battery life: first thing is to lower the CPU Frequency, the default is 1.8GHz, but you can set it to 1.4Ghz (or so) with Antutu CPU Master. The second thing is that you can set the sleep governor to "powersafe" (can be found in screenstate_scaling script) this sets the phone in an even lower state and safes you battery (see the question above for the possible risks)
Q: I want to change my kernel, how do i do that?
A: I recommend you to not change your kernel since Skyhigh gives the best performance for broodROM RC4. Although you can download an alternative kernel and place it on your /sdcard, then reboot in recovery using the extended power menu and choose install zip from sdcard > install zip from internal sdcard > choose the zip file > install > reboot.
Q: My browser FC's all the time, how do I fix this?
A: Some people experience browser FC's, you can easily solve this by installing the broodROM_RC4_InetFixes.zip in recovery mode, don't forget to mount /system to be sure it installs correctly.
Q: My WiFi has constant drops, how do I solve this problem?
A: The first thing that you need to investigate is your "DHCP Lease Time" you can find this option in your router, if it's set to a low number please change it (mine is 604800). If this doesn't solve the problem you can try installing the KQ1 Modem using Odin (select AriesVE.ops from broodrom rc4 and choose the .md5 file as "Phone" package) and install the KQ1 Wifi Binaries using Recovery mode (also don't forget to mount /system) If you still encounter WiFi problems you will have to wait until the ICS Value pack release so i can permantely fix it.
Q: I saw the "Module Loader" app. what is this? and what can it do for me?
A: The module loader app is an app that allows you to run additional modules for your i9001. You can load several modules, I added the tun.ko module which is OpenVPN, the cifs.ko module which is Samba Shares Support (smb://) and the PPP Modules. If you are sure you will never use any of those you can delete the app by deleting "moduleloader.apk" file in /system/app
Q: I noticed that there are some bugs regarding the ICS Theme, some apps have gingerbread looks
A: You can solve this problem by downloading the newest ICS Theme and extract "framework-res.apk" and "twframework-res.apk" from the archive, then copy them from your sdcard to /system/framework and overwrite the current files, set the permissions to RW-R-R and reboot.
Q: I want to change the bootanimation, how can I do that?
A: I've chosen to keep the sanim.zip layout instead of bootanimation.zip which is default for SkyHigh v1.4. So you can place your bootanimation (named sanim.zip) in /system/media, set permissions to RW-R-R and reboot
Q: Is your Configurator BETA 4 compatible with broodROM RC4?
A: Yes and no, you cannot flash themes or mods, but you can use things such as changing boot animation, changing dns, updating hosts and so on (all things that include theme files are not compatible with broodROM RC4)
Q: I cannot buy apps from the store. how can i solve this?
A: Wipe the play store cache by going to settings > Applications > Manage apps > All > Play store > clear cache (thanks to nail16)
If this doesn't work, download an older version of the market here and delete /system/app/Google_Play_3.5.1.5.apk then place the market apk in /system/app and reboot (set permissions to RW-R-R) The market will now automatically update to the latest version.
Q: I cannot change the background of my lockscreen, why is that? I want to change it!
A: The lockscreen from KQ7 is a beta and does not support custom wallpapers yet. Although you can change the lockscreen by looking in the framework-res.apk file with Winrar, look for "framework-res.apk\res\drawable-hdpi" then you will find the "zzzzzzzz_default_lockscreenw.jpg" file at the bottom, You can replace that file by dragging your custom 480x800 lockscreen in there. set the compression level to "store" and put the framework-res.apk file on your /sdcard, copy it to /system/framework and overwrite the file. Don't forget to set the permissions to RW-R-R
(this also seems to work on the default way of changing the lockscreen background )
Q: I get random reboots, help?
A: Because all i9001 devices are not actually exactly the same, some devices could cause errors when using a support OC/UV kernels, you can flash the SkyHigh v1.3 kernel or Feacore 1.4 NonOC to prevent this problem.
Q: I have sdcard fails, how can I solve this?
A: the developer of the SkyHigh kernel is currently working on a fix, you can read about it here
Q: Where can I get additional information about the kernel?
A: You can find it in the SkyHigh Kernel Thread

GravityMod2 - custom ROM for THL W8 (4GB/8GB/16GB/W8+/Beyond) - Android 4.2.1
Version 3.0
Compatible with 4GB/8GB/16GB versions of THL W8, W8+ and W8 Beyond
Read IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT COMPATIBILITY below.
Introduction
Here comes the Android 4.2.1 ROM with full Project Butter experience with UI running @ 60+ FPS* making our W8 a real beast!
It's based on the latest Eastcom W1 stock Android 4.2.1 ROM. It's a pure stock with a few fixes and mods on top (check out the Changelog in the second post).
For W8 16GB, W8+ and Beyond, the ROM is based on the official THL firmware and it uses official THL kernel.
Installation can be done via recovery (Instructions below).
Thanks goes to akim14 @ androidforum.cz for giving a tip about compatible Eastcom ROM.
* 60FPS is available for W8 4GB/8GB models only.
* W8 16GB runs at max of 49FPS since it's using official THL kernel
* W8+ and Beyond use kernel from Beyond running at 58 FPS
IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT COMPATIBILITY
Although this ROM seems to be working fine on majority of W8 models, there's still a chance you might come accross some issues caused by incompatibility.
Except for memory size, newer batches of W8 seem to have some other hardware differences (e.g. camera sensor) making them incompatible with this ROM.
Since I own W8 8GB version that came out in the very first batch, it is impossible for me to reproduce, debug and fix bugs that may appear on different or newer W8 models. I won't be providing any support nor bug fixes for these models!!! It is simply unmanageable for me! Thanks for understanding.
Therefore, you should rather consider sticking with the stock ROM and installing standalone GravityBox app which will basically introduce all the mods without actually having to flash any custom ROM. This approach avoids all the potential incompatibility issues you may have with non-official ROMs.
And remember, it's always YOUR decision when it comes to flashing ROMs or installing apps.
You should ALWAYS make a backup of stock rom before flashing anything on your device!!! I am getting too many personal message from people that didn't make a backup of stock ROM before flashing GM2 asking for help, which wastes a lot of my free time that could be used more efficiently (e.g. to work on GravityBox app)
Read carefully before you proceed
- full wipe is needed to upgrade from Android 4.1.2 or any other ROM that's not based on this one.
- returning to previous ROM that was backed up using custom recovery is possible only in case you used my ClockworkMod to backup your previous ROM.
All other custom recoveries will simply not work fully because they are not "MTK6589 friendly".
So I strongly recommend to flash my ClockworkMod and perform backup using this recovery before proceeding any further.

Don't even try It won't work.
Tried to install the compatibility fix that you uploaded.
Entered CWM>>Install Zip From sdcard>>Choose zip from sdcard
now I get a message that says:
"E:Can't mount /sdcard/"
how else can I install this file?
or any file actually..
CWM requires external SD card. It cannot install from internal storage.
You can just unzip the file and copy xml file into /system/etc/permissions
Set its permissions to 644 (rw r r)
It seems that not all widgets are displayed in the menu... Cannot even find'em. There's no possibility to put them on the desktop... But maybe that's because I restored them using TitaniumBackup (backups made on 4.1.2). It shouldn't be... Any Ideas?
Added: I tryied to romove an app and afterwards installed it again - no effect.
That's the withdraw of the stock launcher. Install e.g. Nova Launcher from playstore. It will allow you to install any widget when you long-touch the screen.

ROM installed, first positive impressions :
- very smooth UI,
- 4.2 Android is very nice
- no problem installing hot fix nor installing the ROM itself
- date & time settings bug corrected thanks to Sparcot tip
- I've installed the apk I use every day, no problem.
- Baseband seems to be improved, seems to work better that previous one, am I wrong ?
the "bugs" :
- we can see Eastcom logo at boot between ThL image and ThL animation
- there is no more music on ThL animation at boot
- proximity sensor : while taping phone number with digital pad (for instance a long tap on 1 for reaching my answering machine), then I wait for earing the voice of my answering machine and then I put the phone on my ear : the proximity sensor does not hide the screen fastly enough, and the contact between the ear and the screen taps on a number (3 for instance). this was not happening with ThL W8 original ROM. I've tried to see in engineer mode to catch a settings but can't find anything about that.
I'm going on testing this nice ROM... :good:

- eastcom logo is somewhere burried in new UBOOT image - nothing we can do about. We need this image to be able to have display working.
- original Eastcom rom doesn't have bootsound. But if you want one you can simply take it from original rom. It is in /system/media
I personally find the boot sound annoying so I am glad it's gone
- not sure about proximity. Seems to be working fine here

CarbonRom for bravo unofficial v2.0 - Test release with Kernel 3.0 - 168.28MB
md5 0949746aced316dfcea1e9175cdf752e
Characteristics of v2.0:
1) Added kernel 3.0.16-kitkat-v0.1 (Hell yeah!) -- Big thanks to everyone who was involved into k3 development -- especially Niklas and Thomas!!!
2) Use performance tweaks (enabled KSM and zRAM at 50%)
3) Use same codebase as in carbonrom v1.1
Known issues in v2.0:
- Initially 'Long press home key' does nothing (you have to go to Settings / Carbon Fibers / Buttons and 'Enable custom actions' -> configure home with 'Recents')
- If your battery falsely shows 0% and causes your phone to shut down, then boot into recovery and wipe battery stats when 100% charged
- Trackball wake not working
- Camera preview is sometimes distorted (taking picture works)
- Noticeably higher battery consumption as in older ROM versions
- Everything else should work, if not please let me know
Instructions:
Requirements:
- An hboot with at least 400mb on system. Get it from here: PB99IMG_LP-looback_420_5_12.zip.
- A 1gb - 4gb EXT4 partition on your sdcard. Use this guide to create the partition. Partitions made using other tools (CWM, Minitool Partition Wizard, etc.) will likely cause issues.

1) Sync with CarbonDev on 2015-09-04 (however, the latest code changes by CarbonDev occurred around 17th Nov 2014)
2) Use Data2ext4 (credits walter79)
* This is meant to permanently solve the biggest remaining pain that bravo kk users have: running out of space on /data
* Makes using A2SD scripts from Evervolv obsolete
* Requires a SD-EXT partition on SD card of size between 1GB and 4GB
* Requires a custom hboot which provides sufficient space on /system (e.g. 420-5-12)
3) Added a patch by CM to prevent wakelocks caused by Google Play Services 7.x SystemUpdateService
* This will fix the problem mentioned here: https://jira.cyanogenmod.org/browse/CYAN-6438
4) Added quite a few tweaks and build.prop mods:
* Increase ui responsiveness (credits CM)
* Enable slow blur (credits CM)
* Media profiles: use m4v to gain performance improvements (credits walter79)

Guys, if you read this piece of information about qualcomm-optimized kitkat dalvik and bionic libraries, one conclusion is that it is not recommended to replace the bionic libs of a CM based rom because CM's bionic libs are advanced.. and actually this rom has been compiled with CM's bionic libs. Please correct me if I am wrong..
In my point of view, there is one option left for the next release -- to use qc-optmized kk dalvik.
Do you want me to give this a try?
I would love to know if this will make any difference. :cyclops:
does it include google phone like Chromiums beanstalk? I mean phone app which can lookup for phone numbers directly from internet?

Assuming that you are talking about the kitkat phone app -- YES.
It has a search bar as it is shown on the 1st picture:

in fact I meant nexus 5 phone app, AOSP doesn't have internet lookup capability or at least evervolv's hasn't but it also has search bar for local search...
your CM11 also doesn't have internet searching capability, maybe you should add it for CM11... anyway, i will try carbon tomorrow, thanks!
Nice ROM. Stable and looks good. Speed is the only thing to do.
Bugs:
Google keyboard fc with gestures.
Video playbacks are not flounce enough

Bug found.
Settings>Carbon>Lockscreen>General>enable Slider torch (Double-tap and hold the slider to start torch)
In the lockscreen, double tap the lock ring and hold to turn it on, but double tapping lock ring puts the phone back to sleep
In notification tiles, I can't add a torch toggle.
Does anyone know any other way to quickly toggle on/off the torch?

Known Issues (regarding latest available Stable build)
Please do not report bugs if it is already listen in the list of known issues
Rarely, when you wake-up the device, touchscreen will have a noticeable input lag, easily fixable by turning off and on the display. (H/W or S/W bug?)
Wireless Display with some TVs could cause issues (AOSP bug related to HDCP, and Google doesn't provide a solution)
Video Stream through Screencast & Wireless Display will have inverted Red and Blue color channels due to BGR Pixel Format (actual Exynos sources don't allow to fix it)
Any Chinese (CHN, I9500XCUxxx codename) Baseband/Modem reduces Call Quality (due to forced AMR_WB, unsupported by CHN modems)
5GHz Wi-Fi Networks using Band B (52-140) and Band C (149-161) channels won't be listed (H/W or S/W bug?)
Reporting Bugs
You are allowed to report bugs only in this thread. Before reporting a bug, please make sure you are running as stock as possible. This means no custom kernel, no custom framework modification, etc. If you are using any of the above modifications, please flash the rom again to get rid of the modifications before reporting.
REPORT BUGS IN THIS THREAD ONLY
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
If it is a random reboot, grab /proc/last_kmsg. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. The following is a useful format to follow. Note: If you can provide the latest night/build that the bug didn't exist, it would greatly help in tracking down what caused it.

Differences between GearCM (Optimized CyanogenMod) and Official CyanogenMod (NIGHTLY):
Degrated Shadow said:
Enough of those dumb questions..
The official CM rom is maintained by @Alberto96 and @intervigil
He makes the very recent changes here relating to performance.. which are then in time pushed to CM official rom. The kernel is different because it has selinux disabled and few minor tweaks you might not even notice.. this gearcm rom will have more performance. But CM rom will have their updated base changes which are included here with each update.
What I mean is you probably wont even notice what's different in terms of user interface.. gearcm will have more performance. Official cm will have updated sources. But it will include gearcm's changes in time as @Alberto96 pushes them to CM
You can decide by a simple choice. more performance and not-nightly updated sources or similar performance (improving with nightly updates) with updated sources. I would choose gearcm because of the reasons I mentioned above. Do what you will.. and let this be a note to everybody who ask this again and again and again. Don't spam the thread with same question in every alternate page.. Because there are other people who might have different problems they need to ask. Read atleast 15 previous pages and the first post changelog before asking the question. Reading most of the times will give you a solution and if not most of the info you will read will help you anyway.

FAQ (Frequently asked questions)
Where are "Performance" and "Developer Options" categories?
To activate 'Performance' and 'Developer Options' categories in Settings you need to tap 7 times on 'Build number' located into Settings -> About Phone.
How can i solve problems with Hebrew language?
Go to "Developer Options" in Settings and check "Force RTL layout direction".
What can i do to reduce the "echo effect" while in-call?
Try to reduce in-call earpiece volume (if possible).
I'm having problems with battery life, what can i do?
1) Use "Greenify" to hibernate all apps with a "little cloud + 'Gcm' word inside" on the right of each app's name. Donation version is recommended because it allows deeper hibernation of apps
2) Disable "Location" or set it to mode "Battery Saving" (Settings -> Location)
3) Make sure that your 2G/3G mobile network signal level isn't always low or unstable
4) Deny "Wake Up" and "Keep Awake" permissions to Google and third-party apps. (Settings -> Privacy -> Privacy Guard -> Press menu button and check "Show built-in apps" -> Press menu button again and go to Advanced -> Horizontal Scroll to Device)
5) Disable "Sync" or sync only useful stuff like Contacts
6) Disable "Auto-rotate screen" (Settings -> Display & lights -> Rotation)
7) Use one of the latest Modem/Baseband listed on first post.
8) Disable Ambient Display
9) Install Xposed Framework and configure Amplify
If this isn't enough then replace your battery and/or reduce your phone usage. :silly:
Is GearCM OTA supported?
Yes (Since 20150707 Build)
Why is my phone over-heating while playing heavy-games or running heavy-apps?
Use a bit your brain to explain why. High CPU and GPU usage = high heat production. Your phone will automatically throttle CPU when needed so don't worry, it is safe and normal.
Can I use another kernel instead of the one included in the zip?
No. Only use the included kernel for 100% compatibility, bug reports with non-standard kernel will be ignored.
Can i disable S-View cover features (lock/unlock)?
Not yet.
*** IR Remote app isn't working anymore/was working on previous builds/causes my phone to crash, what can i do?
Contact *** IR Remote app developer.
Any question about "Can't connect to camera" issue
Do not "stress" camera on CM because we don't use yet a proper implementation. Open/Close Camera apps carefully without force-closing them.
fix stock camera try flash this zip https://www.dropbox.com/s/z2a7hegwzu9ft2c/Fix_Camera_Cmmct_5.0.zip?dl=0
Been using lollipop as a daily driver with awesome results. But still there's something that bugs me. Although GPS works fine I find that its accuracy is pretty low.
For instance I run in order to keep fit. I use adidas miCoach which calculates your speed and distance covered giving as result km speed (from Argentina). GPS has a hard time keeping up with this and every time I train I revert to TW and then back to Lollipop.
Will test this GPS and see if its better than team Cajinica
does this rom have working bluetooth calls over car stereo?

Great. Downloading now[emoji1]
"App not installed" if manually install an apk.
Is there any workaround?
@Alberto96 haven't test it on GearCM 11. I'll try and report back asap
Can't install apks.
Although pushing apks to system works. Titanium backup in not able to restore as well.
Edit: I guess Titanium Backup does work. Not with the default superuser though. I flashed supersu to get it working in frapeti's rom, strange.

With GearCM 11 latest build GPS is pretty accurate. Used Waze while driving and miCoach while walking and had good results.
Further testing done with the build posted (20141216) I can't access SD card to install apks that are not from playstore for example BBS, and getting the low memory message even if full wiped and fresh installed.
Can't install APK in this Build ...
Storage Issues
@Alberto96 Hey man there seems to be an issue with your Kernel please take a look at the changes u made as they seem to be the cause of peope not being able to install any APKS and Install from playstore as its complaining about the storage being low so what i did is compile with CM kernel and tested it and the GearCm works fine without any storage issues but if I compile it using ur GearCm Kernel thats where theres storage issues. Please take a look at it
Thanks for your time and dedication of this Alberto. Unfortunately I'm having a hard time with your CM12 Releases
With CM12-20141212v2 (I did a clear wipe) and no RIL Service. So I was not able to use it basically...
Today I gave it a second try CM12-20141216 . I was happy to see my 3G Connection. But when I started to download the app from Play Store. It was impossible. All APKS giving an error.
I will test Canjica Version. It's a pity but I will have to wait till we get to a stable version of Android 5.0.1 with GearCM12.
Despite of that, Thanks for your work on this! We wouldn't have this if it wasn't because of you
Heads Up
Brilliant to have 5.0 on our phones, look and feel is really cool.
Confirmed Working:
Calls, SMS, Internet (WIFI & 3G), Camera, Gallery
FC's:
Music, File manager, Play store (all google apps) & anything else which is on the SD card
Keep it up guys:good:
Application not installed?
thanks for update 12\21 @Alberto96 ...but issue with installing apk is here.
New build is coming with some fixed, especially performance related.
New build is up!

Tips
First Install
Make sure you do a format /data the first time you install the rom
(backup your internal storage first if you want to keep something)
The first boot after a rom flash can take a few minutes as ART is slower than dalvik to optimize the applications, but is faster after the 1st time.
(First boot takes ~4-5 minutes without gapps and 10+ minutes with gapps)
For Nova: Go to its Settings => Desktop => Wallpaper Scrolling => Force, then set a wallpaper.
(You will see a black wallpaper if you're not using a launcher that can do internal rendering, If wallpaper is important and that you want to keep your current launcher, then switch back to the 1st setting)
Youtube
Depending on your network and tablet load, 720p videos might not play or take longer to buffer.
Switch to 480p in that case.
Some videos are also 720p60fps so you might need to switch back to 480p for these too.
You can also try an older youtube version and disable auto updates: youtube-v5.0.21
Google Play Movies
Our current Widevine DRM libs are not compatible in MM.
So you can't play a movie on the tablet with Google Play Movies as it requires that.
Starting a movie to play on chromecast should be fine as the drm will be the chromecast one in that case.
Now On Tap
Now On Tap requires the nano opengapps version, however our default /system partition is too small to accommodate them.
So if you want to install the nano or bigger opengapps version, you'll need to repartition the storage space first using Bigwheelie for extended partitions
Then activate Now on Tap from google now settings
MultiWindow
Actions to switch the app between fullscreen / splitview 2-3-4 panes, swap, or switch between the 2 most recent apps have been added
so you can bind them to a key / key combination with the Global KeyOverride or long press on navbar button too.

Many thanks, Tim, for keeping the Tf101 alive!
I'm a little afraid to try, but I know I will
Officially my Transformer is one of the oldest devices I own and should really show its age.
But it just doesn't, it sets itself apart from the two other Tegra 2 devices (Notion Ink Adam and Acer Iconia) by being a thoroughly enjoyable device, which reacts very promptly to all input and still is mechanically perfect with great battery life.
Some hardware ingredients like DRAM and Flash seem to be made of better stuff (some benchmark show twice the memory bandwidth than Acer Iconia and NI Adam and the eMMC is lots better than Acer (Adam is notoriously terrible)), but mostly it must be the constant tweaking you (and Google?) have put in, because the performance only got better and better, even if the applications typically got fatter and fatter and 1GB of DRAM is no longer as plenty as it used to be with Android 2.2.
I surely can't say the same for my Nexus 7, which started being somewhat snappier than the Transformer and turned out pretty bad with LP even after turning off the journalling on ext4.
Marshmallow has disappointed me so far (only Nexus 10 migrated yet), mostly because my standard launcher SPB shell 3D no longer works on it and I just like it better than stock or any other.
And then I just don't see any significant improvements beyond Lollipop or rather CM 12 with all the privacy stuff already included. And I just love the fast task switching, which is part of the multiwindow support and which I have on a keyboard shortcut (hope it comes soon).
Somehow I also doubt that Nougat will be better in any sense except "better" Google integration.
But since I'm very much afraid of operating anything without the latest security patches, I'll just have to make the switch.
And I'm sure it will be as perfect as the current LP by the time Nougat comes out.
Thanks Timduru for making it possible
Link is ready, downloading :good:
Thank you. what I've failed to understand, do you need to install a separate root tool? Or is it included in the recommended recovery tool? It's still as i bought it in 2011... Thanks!

Just follow the procedure from the 1st post:
once you have the recovery installed:
the first time: format /data
then install all 3 zips at once: rom + supersu + gapps
then reboot.
Thank you Tim! Awesome as always. Gonna try ASAP.
One question...
What is the downside of not having omx codecs working?

No omx codecs means no gpu video acceleration, so it'll use cpu to decode instead.

It sounds so easy... First I don't really know how to install the recovery (hence, i have been spending 'only' app 7 hours on topic by now). I would assume from PWR+VOL- then Vol+ goes to recovery mode, but the device gets stuck with a android red expression mark. I then tried to install the Easyflasher 0.8.3 and managed to first delete the drivers and installed new universal ones. Rebooted and continue to follow the procedure and the Easyflasher on my Windows tells me i have successfully unbricked my Asus Stock. However, when i reboot, it looks all exactly the same, no data lost, no new installation. Then I could, or should?, flash a recovery. However, if i try to do it from the Easyflasher there is only the old TWRP 2.2.1. available and i fail to make use of the downloaded TWRP 2.8.1.1. CLick the Root, doesn't work either.
Then, the frustration goes up and the progress goes down... please advise and push me in the right direction! MUch appreciated!

Installing the recovery is not really the focus of this thread, and it has been a really long time since I installed on mine
But what I would do, since you seem to have easyflasher and drivers working:
- Install TWRP 2.2.1 from easyflasher
- reboot to that TWRP 2.2.1
- Install the TWRP 2.8.1.1 flashable zip from TWRP 2.2.1
- reboot to the recovery and it should now be TWRP 2.8.1.1

sounds as if the new kernel didn't flash or something.
What recovery are you using ?
Even if the screen goes black you should get adb working after a few minutes, it's still doing things in the background normally.
Try to grab me a logcat + dmesg at that point.
EDIT: Found the problem, yeah kernel not flashing:
Flash it separatly for the moment: Tim_KatKernel_122_MM6.0.zip
that will be fixed in the next version.

Unfortunately me too.
The only step from install note was the "Format" because of lack of time and data cable to copy everything from internal sd to my pc (only way for me is over the air with My Phone Explorer right now).
Tried 19 & 19b together with SuperSu 2.52 and gapps-arm-pico in one flash.
Backlight of screen is on, but then nothing happens over an hour.

Sounds like a plan, i tried and Easyflasher tells me it runs Wheelie,NV Flash then 'finished new reboot into recovery'. I do so, but android gets stuck in the recovery with an red expression mark, then it'll boot normal again.
Might it be that root access is blocking it? The Easyflasher root access tells me to first falsh recovery and put the superuser on sd.
I have installed both TWRP and SuperSu but both run into issues: the first tells me 'root is required' then closes, the second tells me 'no SU binary installed' then closes.
I then decided to go for a very crappy 1-click root access, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1689193, with an even worse http://www.4shared.com/postDownload/ja5cFLAL/1-Click_Transformer_Root_11.html. This seems to have succeeded and i got root access (!) and the above described issues on TWRP and SuperSu were not gone.
Then in TWRP i couldn't select the zipfile TWRP 2.8.1, and after telling TWRP i had a TF101 i could select an older version like 2.3, which he was going to download. I had to confirm a path but decided to abort. I then tried to boot recovery but unfortunately, and not as i expected, it run into the same red expression mark. I then decided to run APX mode again and see if easyflasher could access root now. Also negative. Then run normal ABD mode and checked if i could do something with SuperSu, also negative.
So it seems my problem is that TWRP doesn't allow me to select the right zip file and as a result i can't run any recovery... any idea?
UPDATE: going back to apx flash the default TWRP2.2.1 then reboot to recovery succeeds in Easyflasher but the same red expression mark with Android. so also negative
