1. If you have CWM installed: format all partitions. If you don't have CWM installed do a Hard Reset (*2767*3855#) Note: A hard reset also wipes your sdcard, make sure you got it backed up
Note: A format or hard reset is not always needed, you can always try to keep your data folder and flash broodROM RC5, wiping dalvik cache is still needed!
2. Put your phone in download mode (when off hold: vol -, home, power)
3. Start Odin, Choose AriesVE.ops file, check "One Package", choose: "broodROMRC5.tar.md5" > Click Start
4. Wait till the process is complete, now your phone will reboot and show you recovery mode, now choose reboot system now by pressing the menu button
5. Set animations to a few. (settings > display > animations) For the shutdown-style old TV animation and start enjoying your new rom

broodROM RC4 FAQ
Q: I kinda like Apple, and I don't want an android pissing on an apple as bootlogo
A: Well.. this is only a custom boot logo, you can easily change it by reflashing the SkyHigh v1.4 Kernel
Q: I want to install a system accelerator like Thunderbolt or Adrenaline shot
A: Don't do that! The SkyHigh v1.4 kernel already includes an integrated Thunderbolt, adding more tweaks would simply bootloop your phone
Q: I saw the screenstate_scaling script in /system/etc/init.d, what's up with that?
A: screenstate_scaling is an addition to Thunderbolt, in this script the default awake & sleep governors are set, this script can function as an alternative to CPU Master. You will notice that CPU Master will give you a warning each time you boot your phone since the screenstate_scaling script will interfere with it.
Q: I noticed that you have set the sleep governor to ondemand, why is that?
A: I did that because I've experienced some alarm clock fails on 100Mhz, Of course you can try it out yourself, it might work just fine
Q: I want a better battery life for your rom! How can I achieve that?
A: You can perform the following steps to gain a better battery life: first thing is to lower the CPU Frequency, the default is 1.8GHz, but you can set it to 1.4Ghz (or so) with Antutu CPU Master. The second thing is that you can set the sleep governor to "powersafe" (can be found in screenstate_scaling script) this sets the phone in an even lower state and safes you battery (see the question above for the possible risks)
Q: I want to change my kernel, how do i do that?
A: I recommend you to not change your kernel since Skyhigh gives the best performance for broodROM RC4. Although you can download an alternative kernel and place it on your /sdcard, then reboot in recovery using the extended power menu and choose install zip from sdcard > install zip from internal sdcard > choose the zip file > install > reboot.
Q: My browser FC's all the time, how do I fix this?
A: Some people experience browser FC's, you can easily solve this by installing the broodROM_RC4_InetFixes.zip in recovery mode, don't forget to mount /system to be sure it installs correctly.
Q: My WiFi has constant drops, how do I solve this problem?
A: The first thing that you need to investigate is your "DHCP Lease Time" you can find this option in your router, if it's set to a low number please change it (mine is 604800). If this doesn't solve the problem you can try installing the KQ1 Modem using Odin (select AriesVE.ops from broodrom rc4 and choose the .md5 file as "Phone" package) and install the KQ1 Wifi Binaries using Recovery mode (also don't forget to mount /system) If you still encounter WiFi problems you will have to wait until the ICS Value pack release so i can permantely fix it.
Q: I saw the "Module Loader" app. what is this? and what can it do for me?
A: The module loader app is an app that allows you to run additional modules for your i9001. You can load several modules, I added the tun.ko module which is OpenVPN, the cifs.ko module which is Samba Shares Support (smb://) and the PPP Modules. If you are sure you will never use any of those you can delete the app by deleting "moduleloader.apk" file in /system/app
Q: I noticed that there are some bugs regarding the ICS Theme, some apps have gingerbread looks
A: You can solve this problem by downloading the newest ICS Theme and extract "framework-res.apk" and "twframework-res.apk" from the archive, then copy them from your sdcard to /system/framework and overwrite the current files, set the permissions to RW-R-R and reboot.
Q: I want to change the bootanimation, how can I do that?
A: I've chosen to keep the sanim.zip layout instead of bootanimation.zip which is default for SkyHigh v1.4. So you can place your bootanimation (named sanim.zip) in /system/media, set permissions to RW-R-R and reboot
Q: Is your Configurator BETA 4 compatible with broodROM RC4?
A: Yes and no, you cannot flash themes or mods, but you can use things such as changing boot animation, changing dns, updating hosts and so on (all things that include theme files are not compatible with broodROM RC4)
Q: I cannot buy apps from the store. how can i solve this?
A: Wipe the play store cache by going to settings > Applications > Manage apps > All > Play store > clear cache (thanks to nail16)
If this doesn't work, download an older version of the market here and delete /system/app/Google_Play_3.5.1.5.apk then place the market apk in /system/app and reboot (set permissions to RW-R-R) The market will now automatically update to the latest version.
Q: I cannot change the background of my lockscreen, why is that? I want to change it!
A: The lockscreen from KQ7 is a beta and does not support custom wallpapers yet. Although you can change the lockscreen by looking in the framework-res.apk file with Winrar, look for "framework-res.apk\res\drawable-hdpi" then you will find the "zzzzzzzz_default_lockscreenw.jpg" file at the bottom, You can replace that file by dragging your custom 480x800 lockscreen in there. set the compression level to "store" and put the framework-res.apk file on your /sdcard, copy it to /system/framework and overwrite the file. Don't forget to set the permissions to RW-R-R
(this also seems to work on the default way of changing the lockscreen background )
Q: I get random reboots, help?
A: Because all i9001 devices are not actually exactly the same, some devices could cause errors when using a support OC/UV kernels, you can flash the SkyHigh v1.3 kernel or Feacore 1.4 NonOC to prevent this problem.
Q: I have sdcard fails, how can I solve this?
A: the developer of the SkyHigh kernel is currently working on a fix, you can read about it here
Q: Where can I get additional information about the kernel?
A: You can find it in the SkyHigh Kernel Thread

haven't tried it yet but it looks really impressive. Still some thinks I would change and will put back into this rom, because I think it is a little bit TOO slim, but this is everybody's own decision.
looks really nice and will be tested on the weekend.
looks promising.
a couple of questions; you've removed conversations.apk and messaging.apk. what sms app does your rom use?
i can see that you have removed talk.apk. isn't it needed to be on the phone to access the market?
Good job. Thanks for that tutorial on knocking off some cmg. Can you by any chance tell us how to make those boot only files that other mods put up. It really helps to downgrade that way. I will try this once I am back home from work.
cheers
Very clean Rom, at the moment all work for me, market work perfectly, i will test sms and this evening...

Maybe if you dont do a factory reset before installing the rom (rom does a reset before anyways). So if Talk is setup in the first place its required (I'm guessing), but so far without it works fine. Added screenshot above of market with paypal on screen.
Also tiggggr is right, the messaging apps where replaced with a stock MMS app.

If your talking about things like the Android 2.2.1 - 3.4.2-107 TMobile US modified bootloader. No idea, this flashing method I dicuss does not use/make a modified bootloader. Its just removing the Froyo bootloader and system partitions from the sbf.

Ya I have a notion that Stagefright being enabled for player streaming might be the cause. I'm looking into it.
No problem
Ok no problem, only modify the media.stagefright.enable-player=true to false or use this buil.prop
One thanks for me plz

Was uploading the new version already but thanks.
Yup Stagefright being enabled for the youtube player was causing the issue. Flash the new version and should be all set.
coming from pays 3.3
I found pays 3.3 to be laggy when trying to close apps and the network connection quite slow and jumping between 3G and H a lot. I think the network issue is causing the lag.
coming from pays 3.3 on 3.4.2_145-003. I thought I'd wipe and factory reset before installing Lawnchair.zip
This left me with a clean ROM but with no home app and having wiped in clockwork recovery meant no debug for an ADB push. I didn't check for ADB connection but I found that voice commands would run and that allowed the selection of clockwork, so no need to reflash sbf.
Just a note if anyone sees this.
ROM has booted now and looks good, people shouldn't complain about what's missing, nothing's missing if you have ever used Titanium or Appmonster.

Ya the reason for re-flashing the sbf is because other rom's (and mine) do remove apps from the system folder. Something which a factory reset wont fix.
However, because my rom does include all stock system apps; yes this should work but like you said if your missing a Launcher in your system folder it will make it complicated.
Otherwise, glad to here its up and running.
thank you very much for the work. the downgrade method you just included are new to me. As long as i´m working on DefyFroyoSense Beta01 and cant fix the camera flash problem, i think your way to flash Froyo and keep downgradability will fix this issue. BTW you optimized rom is great for those who wanna have a personalized system running. Thanks again and keep it coming.

Ugh had it turned off, go for it now heh.
I really liked the rom, although what i did experience was a some random lagging occurring.. after switching on the screen the device seemed to hang completely then just as i was about to pull the battery it began working again. i hadnt installed any apps and i had followed all steps exactly.
I had to reflash an alternative rom in the end because of the freezing...
I am looking forward to trying new builds - cant think of any features needed really, it would just be nice to know if others had similar issue to me and if there was a fix for it.

KNOWN ISSUES / NOTES
- First Boot Installer sometimes fails to complete (usually completes on reboot)
On first boot, unlock the screen and let it sit until
you see all the media scanning notifications stop -
this is because on first boot, there will be some
app installing going on for the apps included, will take about a minute.
If you're coming from a clean install, you will have to set
Swype as your text input in Settings > Locale and Text Settings to start using it.
File system (BML/MTD) SleeperROM will retain your existing EXT4 or YAFFS2(MTD) partition configuration,
but will convert RFS to EXT4 (journaled).
It will otherwise not do any conversion.

Installation
Boot into recovery: Three Finger Salute (Camera + Vol Down + Power)
OPTIONAL: Wipe all the things (Wipe Data/Factory Restore, then, "Mounts and Storage" > Format /system (be careful - DO NOT format your SD card)) - ! don't wipe if you're installing an Incremental update ¡
Install from Zip, Choose SleeperROMv2.x.xx-EL30-[Pkgversion].zip
Reboot. First boot may take up to 3 minutes while the dalvik cache is built for the first time.
If you don't have recovery/are on stock OTA EL30, Flash the BML/Odin ShadowKernel/CWM5 Root combination in Odin
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1465033
***CLEAN INSTALL
1. Backup with Titanium Backup, then a CWM Backup.
2. In CWM, go to "Mounts and Storage" > "Format /Data", just once will do.
3. To restore your basic data with Titanium Backup, avoid Batch Restore for system apps, choose the Green items one by one for the feature you want to restore then reboot. - I usually Sign In to my google account (open market, gmail, talk) then restore [CONTACTS/CALLS], [VOICEMAIL], [SMS/MMS/APN], [BOOKMARKS], and if i'm feeling daring and lazy [SETTINGS/BLUETOOTH..] - but this last one usually causes me FC grief. After a couple of reboots, you can batch restore all of your user apps.
ABOUT LOCKSCREEN MOD (or lack thereof) TSMParts may be integrated in the near future but NOT the lockscreen mod, as it goes against the philosophy of this rom in maintaining stock appearances (exception is scrolling status bar) while featuring the latest patches and mods which enhance usability and stability. The standalone lockscreen mod flashable is NOT compatible with this ROM.

Let me know how it goes, I did a lot of testing back and forth between RFS/EXT4 this time around but haven't done much with MTD, so if it worked before it should work now...
I just realized wifi may be broken on the MTD version, uploading the update now (10 minutes)
Sensei!!! Wooot. Downloading now to try out. Hey, I see it says MTD. How do we make it MTD? Is there a script or is it setup to do that automatically?

Will do bbelos. Thanks.
Yea. I flashed the regular one and it's rebooting over and over on me after a minute or two. I'll just go back to stock for now or try reflashing Sensei
1. This does not install EL30 modem.
2. Mine reboots in a loop on startup.
Coming from Sleeper 1.1.02a I wiped all the partitions and installed the .zip. First time I was stuck on samsung screen. Wiped again, installed again. This time I was stuck at the galaxy S boot animation screen, it would keep looping. Installed .zip again without a wipe and Still stuck at the boot ani screen. I'm going to go back to a nanroid backup of 1.1.02a for now.
EDIT:
After restoring my nanroid back up of 1.1.02a I tried to install 2.0.01 over it with out wiping anything....and it worked!
That's the first time NOT wiping has fixed an issue I had when installing a rom?
Running good no problems so far! But I don't have a scrolling status bar anymore? Also sprint zone is on here, how can I remove that?

Not sure what in blazes is going on here but this method worked. I restored my backup, wiped NOTHING and flashed and good to go. My OCD made me go back and wipe dalvik and cache but it was running and is running just fine now.
I tried flashing from the EL30 Odin package. I went through the process of rooting and getting CWM 5.0.2.7. Before flashing SleeperROM I wiped cache and dalvik cache, it took a long time to boot (fully expected), but once it did boot it was just FC after FC and I had no status bar... I will try a clean install later but for now I went back to Stock EL30.
If anybody can see the flaw in what I did I would appreciate the insight.
Home/ search soft keys
I installed this ROM and now my home/ search soft keys vibrate but don't do anything.
Could this be something my last ROM screwed up or is anybody else having this issue?
**EDIT-
This was after having installed this ROM over MTD CyanogenMod.
I no longer have this issue with after a clean BML upgrade
I did not wipe i simply copied the Full version over installed from ZIP and it booted. I did have none stop FC with SWYPE but i uninstalled then reinstalled without any further complications.
It does still say i'm Base Version: S:D700.0.5S.EI22. Are we suppose to install the modem ourselves?

you on BML or MTD. Pretty sure for that modem delta update to work you need to be on BML.

Before installing this ROM, where you on BML or MTD?
If MTD, you can try these steps:
Download and install (through CWM): ShadowKernel-EL30-MTD-v3.0+OC/UV
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21830188
Download CWM-bml-sdcard-5.0.2.7-epic4g.zip:
http://epiccm.blogspot.com/2012/01/boot-cwm5-bml-from-sdcard-no-flash.html
Flash that, re-boot to the temporary recovery, then install the modem upgrade.
Well, I'm on MTD/Yaffs2 and my first attempt at flashing this resulted in boot loops at the ani screen. After wiping and reflashing 1.1.02a then flashing this over that without wiping, it worked without a hitch. ;-)

FLASH in recovery after WIPING CACHE AND DALVIK
**If you want Overclock, flash it after flashing this, as this re-arranges/cleans up the Init.d folder and scripts**
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Extra modules pack v0.1.3 (feat. overclock module) compatible w/ Leak #1 or Leak #2
What is this? : this is to achieve overclock, this is done by using Whirleyes overclock module + governers for the droid razr. I altered it a little bit to work for the atrix 2 as we have 3 set clocks and razr has 4.I then Baked up an Init.d script so it runs on boot instead of the current method of terminal emulator commands, end resault ..noob proof Also this includes some governors for different preferences,to read what each does go HERE and for pegasusq go HERE . included down below are two overclock flashable zips. The first is to overclock to 1125Mhz with GPU overclocked at 398Mhz. The second is for 1200Mhz overclock and GPU overclocked to 398Mhz. I included both because some Atrix 2's can handle 1200mhz (like mine) but for some it will bootloop the phone. so if it does, restore your rom and stick with 1125Mhz.
Included Governors -
boostedASSv2
pegasusq
smartassv2
hotplugx
interactivex
**By Default i have Governer set to Hotplugx. If you want to change the governer, install Antutu Cpu Master Free off of google play. from there you can set on boot whicever governer you prefer. Enjoy! **

2. Place On SD Card
3. Reboot into Bootmenu

************A note on over clocking For SCV5 Only***************************
For best results this is how ya need to do it. (only if you are using the old method exp typing 1200 into terminal emulator)
-Do not over clock until your phone is fully loaded (feels like setup lag is gone)
-Use motor_hot_plug governor
-Set min and Max to 1000
-Reboot the phone
-Wait till the phone is fully booted (again feels like lag is gone)
-Now open terminal emulater and type "su"
-Now type "1100"
-Run at 1100 for a few mins put some stress on it at 1100
-Now go to terminal emulator and type "su"
-Now type "1200"
****I'm seeing much better results if I "break it in" the over clock as opposed to just jumping in at 1200****
Thanks to Rick#2 for this overclock method.
Original OC thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1341514
************READ ME************
If you are running V4 you will need to delete the file OC3 in system/ect/init.d in order to use this overclock method, the default method in V4 is different then this one but they are both included. Please read the post linked below to learn how to set your own clock speed.
If you want to OC to say 1200 you would open terminal emulator type su, then echo 1200000000 > /proc/opptimizer
Another option is say you know your phone is stable at 1250 you could go to /system/etc/init.d open the file oc3 and change the values to 1250000000 and you would be at 1250 on every boot. DO NOT SET THIS TO A LEVEL YOUR PHONE IS NOT STABLE AT YOU WILL BOOT LOOP.
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/14511-opptimizer-project-omap4-overclocking-kernel-modulesofficial-thread/
Why distribute a rom as a backup?
It's just so much easier to maintain a rom like this, by just using the /system image for the restore we keep things small, simple, and updates can come much faster. We are also eliminating the possibility of a bootloop during flash to a new rom and we don't need a prep rom that causes gps issues! This will also mean the future updates in theory should never require you to format /data. That means we should not have to lose all our setting's in future editions of the supercharged roms!
____
-Beta;
It means the rom is a "WIP" Work In Progress, With enough of the features working to be a daily driver. In this stage the rom is not to be considered as a finished product or 100% stable. Expect bugs, (Report bugs!)

That might be very difficult... Are those the russian versions of the stock system apps and files in that zip package? What does it change? Language packs usually just affect the keyboard and dictionary (LatinIME.apk and a libjni_latinime.so file, i think)... or are you thinking to add a new /res/values-ru/strings.xml to each and every apk?? That's a big order my friend..
Probably the best you can hope for is the US version stock moto/gb keyboard in SCv6 (which is a damn fine keyboard, and supports русский язык - видишь? - it even has the russian dictionary built in).
Out of curiosity, what is your system version (settings> about phone)?
But, I will definitely be looking into that zip myself... Спасибо!

many of apk (strings.xml and some images for dialer and etc) is translated by russian team. All of there in this archive, but it consist stock deodex apks, not SC`s.

Thanks for the update, but the zip you attached has doubles of the /res/ folder for every apk.. someone would have to pick apart every apk and copy the needed files.. it would be very cool to put multiple languages/locales in a custom rom (there are already many roms for other phones with multi-language support), but also a difficult task..
I might still look into it though... Thanks again for the info and the zip!

I'm running v5.2. If I install Ubuntu under webtop as per here by jimbridgman, will that get undone when I update to v6? I assume it will, although the file on the SD won't change, leaving only the parts that update the "internal" android files to be rerun.

3. Flash the ROM.zip
4. Boot to bootloader (hold vol down & push power button )
5. Ensure your device displays"fastboot usb"

10. Reboot
11. Enjoy your Ice Cream Sandwich
Q 2: Available Radios
Have a look @this here
Q 3: Sense or No-Sense Launcher?
Have a look @this thread HERE
Q 6: Should I use a task killer on the LD ROM?
Not recommended, is you really want to, use the one that came with the rom.(Lee would say, NO!)
Q 7: Backup? What is that?
A good idea is to back up all your data and settings from the phone before flashing a new rom with a full wipe. Best app available is Titanium Back up(included in the ROM)
The best way to back up the contacts is to sync it via HTC Sync or via your gmail.
Q 8: Are Nandroid and Titanium backup the same thing? How do I manage backups?
No, Nandroid backs up the ROM and Titanium backs up the applications. Nandroid is what you do using the recovery and it makes the exact image of your ROM along with the data.
Q 9: On what occasion will I lose my data (apps, contacts etc)?
Only when you flash the rom wiping data using the Aroma installer option. (see next question, Answer 3). When you just flash a rom or a .zip from recovery, it will not wipe anything unless otherwise mentioned.
Q 10: I was on stock (or another rom from another cook) and I flashed LeeDroiD ROM, now I am having some problems.1. Try to rebooting the Phone and see if it makes a difference.
2. Reboot into recovery and clear cache and dalvik, reboot the phone and clear data of the apps causing problem.
3. Reboot into recovery, reflash the rom choosing full wipe in the installer.
Q 11: How do I flash Full wipe or Superwipe and what does it erase?Reboot into recovery, install a zip from sd card option, select the rom, follow the Aroma installer and select "Flash with wiping all (or something to that effect )
Q 12: The screen is not very responsive and is lagging.
Let the phone settle down a bit after you unlock it. It generally needs a few seconds to kick up the CPU.
Q 13: The market is not installing anything. Gives error.
Reboot into recovery and select “clear cache partition”. And under settings - applications - Manage applications - under the Market app < Clear Data>.
Q 14: My battery is draining heavily.
When you first flash a ROM this is what happens. Give it atleast one full charge cycle and it should come back to normal. If required, reboot into recovery and clear battery stats. It is advisable to do so on 100%.
Common Opinion - Heavy battery drain is one thing that you cannot complain about on this rom, for sure. The battery life is much above average
It's NOT recommended to empty the battery, it may course a poorer battery performance and life cyclus.
Read what member Wolfraim discovered HERE
Q15: Should I run the phone battery to zero percent, and what if it does??
A: Absolutely not! Both the current recoveries are giving problems while pulling the battery up from zero percent. If the phones dies off due to battery being zero, try to reboot it into recovery, flash the stock recovery. If it doesnt, then plug it into the wall charger and leave it for as long as it takes for you to boot it. Then flash the stock recovery, charge it fully and do your stuff.
Q16: MMS Problem?
A: Please check your APN settings.
Q17: Some games that use the motion/G sensor are not working as they should.
A: Re-Calibrate your Gsensor –> Settings – Display – Gsensor Callibration
Q18: I dont like the animations. Dont want them.
A: Go to settings - display - animations.
Q19: How do I change the bootanimation or the downanimation?
A: System\Customize\Resource or System/Data/Local. Replace the boot/down animation.zip file with the one you want. The new file must be named bootanimation.zip/downanimation.zip.
Q20: Can I modify frequencies using SetCPU/System tuner or similar?
A: Yes You can.
Q21: GPS Problems?
A: Try faster fix app here from the market. Has helped a few members.
Q22: I am having difficulties assigning ringtones from my SD card on the 4.0 sense.
A: Go to contact, select ringtone. Select ADD where it shows a list of system ringtone - Now it should take you to your music and tones on the SD card. Select the one that you want and click OK. Back on the system ringtones, scroll to find the newly added tone and select it.
Thanks for kind assistance as always to my dear friend Senior Moderator PG101

A pretty annoying data bug (switching from utms to hspa and back constantly, losing signal during gps use) and no wifi calling to name a few.

Wifi calling is a must anyway and I can add it to a UK rom to be used with Orange signal boost..
The signal issues should just be a build.prop string mod relating to network settings.. but dont quote me on that.. will grab a US RUU and compare asap
This rom has it all! This will be my first LeeDrOiD ROM! I've always heard great things about it but have never been fortunate enough to be on the same device until now! After reading through your OP I can definitely see what all the hype is about! Definitely gonna be my DD! It's got everything included! Thanks LeeDrOiD!

Installation instructions:
WARNING: Flashing this ROM will make the orange triangle appear and increase the flash counter. Flash at your own risk, I am not responsible for your actions. Follow the instructions below ONLY if YOU are sure of what you are doing. Otherwise stop here. You can reset the counter and remove the triangle using the app developed by chainfire (triangle remover).
Installation Details & HowTo:
- The GT-S7562 has a download mode and a recovery mode. Both are boot modes that allow the device to start but enter a different configuration mode than regular Android start mode. Think of them like starting your PC and entering the BIOS instead of loading Windows as usual.
- The "download mode" is a boot mode that allows flashing bit-by-bit (very low level) data to partitions on your device. To enter download mode on the S7562 do the following: make sure the device is well charged (over 50%); remove all cables (this is important); power it off (don't reboot); hold volume down + home and power on the device (volume down+home+power). Then a warning will be displayed on screen. You must press Volume Up to enter download mode.
- As long as you can enter "download mode" you can recover your device. While in download mode, you can use the ODIN tool to flash recovery, boot and ROM images.
- The "recovery mode" is a boot mode that allows "safe mode" changes to be performed on the device. This is done using CWM, a tool that can be used to automate Android system changes to system files, partitions etc. To enter recovery mode on the S7562 do the following: make sure the device is well charged (over 50%); remove all USB cables (this is important); power it off (don't reboot); keep volume up + volume down + home and power on your device.
- To navigate in recovery mode, use the volume buttons to change active selection and the home button to make selections. The back button works as back button. When done working with recovery, go back all the way and select option to reboot system to boot your device normally.
- Before installing KyleOpen ROM, make sure you are running XXBMD6 as base ROM. If you skip this step, you may have network and signal problems after installing KyleOpen ROM. So, download the ROM image here and flash it from download mode using ODIN and PDA button BEFORE you continue!!!
Download to your PC the custom recovery image that enables CWM, if you don't have it already, from here
Reboot in download mode to flash CWM
Unzip the file in your computer and start ODIN.
Click the PDA button and select the "kyleopen-cwm5-v3.tar.md5" file.
Connect your phone that is already in download mode. ODIN will display it as being connected on a COM port.
Do not change any other options. Just click the "Start" button and wait. In about 1 minute, on your device there will be a loading bar displayed. Once done the phone will reboot itself normally. ODIN will tell you the flash was OK and restart your device. This operation will increase the flash counter and make the orange warning triangle appear. This is normal and is not a problem. From this point on, you can boot in recovery mode and flash CWM zips.
Let the phone restart normally and boot up completely. Now you are ready to upgrade your stock ROM to KyleOPEN ROM.
Update Instructions:
Make sure you are running a proper stock ROM (like XXBMD6 or any version of KyleOPEN ROM)
Download the OTA update utility app attached to this post and install it if you didn't already.
Run the KyleOpen Tools and check for updates. If your ROM does not have root access it's gonna be slow to start and may not show the proper information, but the update check and download will work just fine.
Download the update and save it.
Press reboot in recovery mode.
Install the downloaded zip.
Clear cache and davlik cache.
Reboot system.
Hit the thanks button or you will be ignored in the thread!
Note: The recovery ZIP also contains the stock recovery image. The stock ROM can also be found on http://www.sammobile.com
Mirrors for use without OTA updater:
Alternate download methods in case you don't want or can't use the OTA update utility can be found below. Download the ZIP files, copy them to your device and reboot in CWM to flash them.

FAQ & Known Issues:
I am on stock version XXXXXX, will KyleOPEN ROM work? - I have no idea. Try it and report back. In case you get network problems try a different base. Use XXBMD6 as base whenever possible.
What baseband is supported - Baseband is not affected by this ROM, it does not change it and any baseband version is compatible.
My CSC is "unknown", why? - That is normal and the phone works correctly. It works in roaming and all providers.
My phone requests unlock code - You must unlock EFS to use it on other networks if you purchased it on a contract. This ROM does not unlock your network.
Notification quickbuttons missing - This is normal. If you want them back flash the "Stock Samsung Theme v1" add-on in post #3 below.
I want stock theme back! - If you want the stock icons and colors back, then flash the "Stock Samsung Theme v1" add-on in post #3 below.
Direct Call widgets don't work - These widgets are part of the Trebuchet launcher and only work on CM9. In KyleOPEN, they will not work, due to a couple of intent security limitations. There is no workaround for this problem. If this is bothering you, use another launcher or don't use these widgets.
Browser white address bar problem - I have no idea what causes this. It is only for some browsers. Use Google Chrome to avoid this problem.
Cannot change lock screen wallpaper - Go to settings->wallpaper and choose to change both wallpapers. Apply any live wallpaper. Then set a new wallpaper with your favorite app. Alternately, install stock gallery (see post #3 belov), change lock screen wallpaper and then remove or disable it.
Where is kernel OC??? - The default ROM package starting with version 3.1 does not come with OC as it's unstable and not all users need it. For OC support, install a compatible kernel with OC support from post #3 below.
How can I get back to stock? - You must download a compatible image from samfirmware.com and flash it using ODIN.
XXXX doesn't work correctly, what can I do? - Follow the installation steps in the first post. There are no known bugs (things that don't work) in the ROM.
Some applications force close after installing the ROM - This happens because you did not follow the installation steps provided. Reboot in recovery mode and clear cache and dalvik cache.
Resolved Issues:
Front-facing camera photos - Camera app can't switch to front facing camera. This is because of the MIUI camera app and is intended. Front facing camera works in other apps such as Skype.
Camera recent photo - After taking a picture using the stock camera only the Samsung Gallery can be used to open the recent photo (bottom corner preview). Will be replaced by MIUI camera in the next update to allow camera integration with any gallery app.
Default browser and all apps that require WebKit - Netflix authentication, 9GAG Facebook login, default browser and any other app that relies on WebKit will crash. I have no clue what breaks this but I am looking into it.
Signal lost and call problems on *some* devices - Reported by multiple ROM users. Seems to happen only in some areas and might be related to CSC or the modem version being used. I have no way of testing this and might take some time to find a fix because of this. I am considering moving to a new base and see if this fixes the problem. Might also be kernel-related...
List of compatible Themes:
Flash the themes by rebooting in recovery mode and using CWM to install ZIP. It's a good idea to clear caches and dalvik before testing them out:
Greenblast Theme by charles111 - Get it here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2dm0w4hc69jyyfd/the greenblast v2.00.zip (theme thread here)
PurpleGlow Theme by Mohitash - Get it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42058670
BlueGlow Theme by Mohitash - Get it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42093164

BlueGloss Theme by Mohitash - Get it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42194443
List of compatible Add-Ons:
These add-ons provide additional functionality to the ROM and do not bork already existing features. None of them are mandatory and you can install only the ones you want. To remove an add-on that was flashed using CWM, simply reinstall the KyleOPEN ROM again and the add-ons you want to keep. There is no other way to uninstall a CWM package with ease.
Remove menu-to-kill feature - Flash using CWM. This will disable the feature to kill running apps by holding the menu button.
FaceUnlock - Flash with CWM. Will enable face unlock in security settings after boot.
CM9 Gallery - Flash with CWM. Installs the CM9 gallery and video player.
CM9 Apollo Media Player - Flash with CWM. Installs the CM9 media player Apollo.
Stock Gallery - Flash with CWM. Installs the stock Samsung Gallery (allows you to change wallpapers and everything)
Stock Keyboard - Flash with CWM. For those of you that miss the stock Samsung keyboard.
Stock Launcher (TW) - Flash with CWM. Installs the stock launcher and hogs the phone again. Also for the nostalgic types.
MIUI Camera - Flash with CWM. Replaces stock Samsung camera to fix recent photo bug. Does not support 5MP mode and cannot be configured to save photos to SD.
Swap SD cards - Flash with CWM. Switches the internal memory and external microSD cards between them to allow downloading of HD games and apps that need lots of space on the internal SD. BEWARE: Doing this will automatically make the kernel go haywire and battery impact is considerable. You will not see the errors (apps run fine), but the phone will enter sleep mode very rarely due to the checks it does constantly. However, it is completely safe and no functionality is lost (thanks to hybridmd for the init.d script!)
Samsung S Voice - Copy to device and flash using CWM zip installation. Original work and hacks by Wanam for SGS2.
Stock Samsung Theme v1 - Flash using CWM to revert to how the phone UI looks while stock.
Blue ICS Theme v1 - Flash using CWM. Changes the touch sounds from the annoying bubbles to CM9 sounds, changes boot animation to Nexus 7 one, changes UI to blue theme and remake of SIM icons (not in settings yet). Screens attached. This is the default since v2.x of the ROM so there will be no change if you flash it.
All removed APKs - Flash with CWM. This 120MB package includes all removed APKs from the stock ROM. Flashing this will undo my work in 30 seconds, making your phone near stock, but deodexed.
List of other compatible packages (not mine, not tested, don't ask about them):
XperiaZ walkman player with clearaudio+ and xloud, Note2 Gallery & Player from the Galaxy Grand Duos. Thanks dising007
CrossBreeder Lag reducer - Some users reported better performance with it installed. Thanks to idcrisis for posting it in the forums!
List of compatible kernels:
Please note: Regular users should stick with the kernel version included in the ROM by default. If you encounter issues with any of these other kernels, flash the ROM again using CWM to restore the default kernel.
GitHub link to the KyleOpen 4.0.4 Kernel: https://github.com/cheatman-xda/kyleopen-kernel
KyleOPEN Kernel v5 - Stock kernel with additional CPU governors, overclocking support, init.d script support, root enabled. Flash directly with ODIN. Credits go to VamshiStunner for his work on governors in this kernel version. NOTE: Although it seems to have OC, it is not working. Setting OC values will not boost the phone's performance as it will run at 1GHz no matter how you configure it.
KyleOpen ROM Kernel OC1 - Bleeding edge kernel with increased sensitivity, all features activated and custom boot logo image. Only for the hardcore fans and power-users of KOR that know what they're doing.
xvasek2 - Breakfast Kernels - OC Kernels for everyone, plenty of speeds to choose from. If you really want OC and can't get around with any setup, use these kernels confidently. Don't forget to follow the instructions and check your balls (or instincts for the ladies!) before you proceed. All kernels should be flashed using ODIN.
please try to make s duos support usb otg
Can you post the bug list? Like what all the things that work and not work?
Procedure
Hi can you please post a step-by-step procedure for absolute beginners?
I would like to try your ROM.
regards.
Antonio
Ok, I added VERY detailed instructions, even for first time flashers. If you got any additional questions, ask here. I am porting SVoice right now, which will work as an add-on to the ROM for anyone who wants to install it.
PS: I will maintain this ROM until CM9 or CM10 is available for our device (probably never, unfortunately). Due to the dual-sim support of this phone, it will be close to impossible to port CM9/CM10 because CM does not have dual sim support at all.
Good to see a ROM for this device and thanks for that.
I had been waiting for this for a very long time and as I could not see any development thought I do some modding myself. I can't do anything to extract my ROM so just had some suggestions for your ROM:
->add init.d support
->add init.d scripts
->build.prop tweaks
P.S- I could do these tweaks using:
Pimp my rom for init.d and universal scripts for tweaks
Regards,
allspark2020
Feel free to take either of the kernel images and modify the ramdisk appropriately and post it here. We can test it, add it to the list of kernels and post it in the thread. I got S Voice to work properly and I will add it to the first posts as an add-on.
Cheers,
C.
ROM
Hi all. I can report that following the step-by-step instructions I installed the ROM no problem.
Believe me, if I can do it, anybody can do it :cyclops:
Thanks the Developer!!
Rom Svoice
When I start to flash Rom or Svoice I get : E: Signature verification failed. What wrong?
@Alexannino: Try disabling assertion scripts in CWM.
In other news:
Also, a new kernel version is ready. Insecure, init.d script support and the additional governors by VamshiStunner included in this release. The best one yet....

Look at this howto for CWM: http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile...-and-how-to-use-it-on-android-complete-guide/
You can find there all the info you need about signature checks and script assert checks (and what they do)

Thanks for letting me know about the download links. They're back up. I'm also mirroring them on Dropbox but that will take another hour or so (dropbox servers are slow!!!).
Cheers,
C.

hello dear,
i want to know that which kernal is best because my s7562 on stock rom stock kernal was tooooo laggyyyy.
also i am not able to play SUBWAY SURF (laggy during playing)
and finally can i use custom kernal on stock ROM
@iamsamratM: 15 minutes is too much. I assume you have a galaxy duos phone. Please look at the first post and tell me if you can get in download mode and recovery mode. If you can, please relax, you can restore your phone. Enter download mode, download v3 kernel, flash it using ODIN, boot in recovery mode, flash the ROM zip again. Also, clear your davlik cache and all other caches. Also do a full wipe after you install the ROM. This should fix all problems.
@jimmykar: I was able to reproduce the bug. Thank you for reporting it. However, this is a problem with the Trebuchet launcher package version I have put in the ROM, not a problem with the ROM. Essentially, the manifest XML of the Trebuchet launcher has a few permissions it shouldn't have. To test this, install a different launcher from the market and test the widget. It should work fine. I am having trouble finding standalone versions of trebuchet at this time, so solving this might take a while.
@man2droid: The latest and best kernel is the v3 (last one in the list). But please bear in mind that it's not the kernel being slow, it's the phone. Try installing Seeder and setting the CPU to use "ondemand" governor and "sio" schduler. This helps with performance.
PS: I added mirror link to dropbox for the ROM as well.
Thanks for the assistance..I'm now able to install kyle open ROM on s duos..but I would like to know that how to over clock the CPU..currently it doesn't allow me to over clock its on 1ghz..want it to over clock to 1.2ghz..please advice..thanks
