[Q] Phone and Messaging icons show number when there is no unread SMS and phone logs

Hi friends,
I just got GTAB2 7 and use it for couple of weeks. There is something weird happening lately, the messaging and phone icons show numbers when I got sms and missed calls but after i opened both apps and read the logs and sms and the number shown in both icons still there. Then i removed all logs and sms and still the number shown in both icons still there. If i restart the device than the number is gone from both icons. Can anyone help me what to do to solve this "a bit irritating" issue? This is something that sometimes happen in Blackberry devices.

Hi there... I had a similar problem... I did the following and it help me...
>> go to settings
>>Select the option Application Manager
>>Select the option 'All' which is next to 'downloaded' & 'running'
>>Select the application 'BadgeProvider' and click Clear Data...
>>Restart the phone...
This had helped me... Let me know if it works for you...

Unfortunately its still the same and even stranger. After following ur way, sometimes the widget doesnt show any number of unopened sms, sometimes show the number that not disappear after opening the sms.
After further investigation, the number will disappear after 1-2 hours. So i assume the widget and the app communication doesnt run very well. Or maybe something else.

[Q] Hangouts not always giving notification of recieved message

I have posted here but recieved no answer. I figured my question belongs here anyway, so I won't bump the other thread.
I am trying to use Hangouts as my default SMS app (It is also currently the only SMS app installed on my device) because I do like it. However I noticed that sometimes I don't get any notification when I recieve a text message, no vibration, nor sound nor notification in the status bar. As a result, I miss quite a lot of texts. Notice that I do recieve those texts, if I check the app they are there, text bold to indicate they are not yet read. I just don't get the notification. Also, most of the time I do get the notifications without a problem. So to be clear, this is about some SMS's, not about all.
As far as I know this happens when I recieve the message very shortly after I put down my phone (my routine: send text, press 'backbutton' once to get in the hangouts overview, and then I press power to shut of the screen and put the phone down.) If I get a message let's say within half a minute of me turning of the screen I won't have a clue I recieved the message until I go look in hangouts to check. This happens often when someone is quick to respond to my own message, but could maybe be happening with other messages I recieve in that time. I don't think this happens to messages I recieve when the screen has been off for a time, but I can't say that with certainty.
I have a HTC One S currently running CM11, but I had this problem on stock ROM too. However never with the HTC stock messaging app.
I have found similar problems here on the forums, but no satifying answers. I hope someone has a solution?

Dismissing Text Messages - S3 vs S2

I hope I can explain this well enough for someone to understand, so here it goes.
When using the S2, I could swipe up to dismiss a text message and then I would look on my V20 and the message would show as being read.
Now.....when using the S3 the message on the phone still shows as unread. I can even reply to a text from the watch, but the phone still shows unread.
Basically I want both the watch and the phone to mirror one another.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have notice the same thing I hope someone can explain why this is happening and come up with a solution

I'm not using the stock messenger, I'm using Textra. But I'm guessing they work the same.
I believe it's the difference between dismissing the notification (and/or replying from within the notification), and going in and reading and/or replying down in the actual message. Almost like layers. But it confused me at first, because the notification can "preview" the message with... the message! (Toggle "Always show details" in the notification settings)
Try tapping "Read more" before replying. Weird thing is, seems like you still have to go back and swipe away the notification after replying...

WhatsApp on S8+

I'm wondering if the WhatsApp in S8+
Is like the one we got on Note 7
Which had separate groups & single member Texts
Also the Best part it had option to Not show WhatsApp mesg pop up
anyone useing S8+ can verify please

To me it does not look ANY different compared to my former device (S5 mini) but maybe Samsung and WhatsApp are working something out already I hope I could help ya

OK i use the S8+ and i HAD a huge problem with whatsapp notifications and the always pop up display. I like having the pop up appearing each time i receive
a whatsapp message, instead of that small blue pop box at top of screen. I tried everything to rectify the problem and even emailed whatsapp to sort it out.
As usual i just got a generic reply. All of the settings in the app and phone were all set properly and i was angry.
Besides whatsapp , i was also NOT getting proper text message notifcations, but the same old blue small banner at top of the screen.
What i did next astounded me. I DELETED whatsapp from my phone..................i reinstalled it straight away BUT..............................
Whilst i was installing it again, there are some TICK boxes to complete. The first was the usual stuff like allow all things like contacts, location, numbers etc etc......................the next box it asked if i wanted something to do with SMS settings etc (i forgot now)................i DECLINED this one or ticked NO.
Now.....everytime i use whatsapp i get the proper pop up screen......even in the locked screen, and i receive proper text messages as well. No more small blue banner at top of screen. So i guess if you accept the second box on installation you get the small banner preview box and it therefore conflicts against whatsapp..........and if you declne......you get a proper whatsapp and a proper text message.

That blue pop-up is most likely being caused by Edge Lighting being on.

unread messages will not shown on tizen 4

After updating to Tizen 4, unread messages are not stored on S3. I get a message and can view it ad hoc on the watch. So far so good. But if I can't read the message right now, it won't be saved. On Tizen 3 I could swipe to the right and there were all accumulated messages, mails etc.. With Tizen 4 there is - despite received messages - "no notifications...choose apps you want to notify".
The fact that unread messages are no longer stored is a deal breaker for me. It's a bug or feature?

In the messages and email apps you can see all your phone's messages and emails, however, not just notifications. I guess none from other apps, though.

For sure. If you use the standard apps the message is saved. But the yellow point which shows you missed notifications is not there anymore and the leftside notifications menu is still empty. So i've got no chance to read missed insta, fb, wa, twitter notifications anymore. That ist anoying. Can i switch back to tizen 3? Cause with this issue the watch is useless for me.

I have the same problem, is this a tizen 4 issue or a muss configuration on the user?
For me the notifications just popping up on the watch for 1sec and the watch vibrates, than it's gone and I don't have this orange dot anymore from tizen 3.

Did not find a solution.... I have reseted the watch x times, deleted data from the phone app, synct my settings with one of my colleagues, but it's not working for me. My colleague has tizen 4 as well, but it's working for him.

I found a very simple solution, and surprisingly it worked!
You just have to reboot the watch (lower button pressed until you see the message "reboot").
I just don't understand why a simple reboot does the work and a full reset of both the watch and the phone app doesn't .....
Please let me know if it also works for you!
