Nexus 5 run over in traffic. Front camera blurry. - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I left my Google Nexus 5 on my bumper and it fell off at a busy intersection and was run over by cars and trucks. The touchscreen was totally destroyed.

I just replaced the touchscreen, and the phone works perfectly -- except the front facing camera is blurry. I know I can buy a replacement camera on eBay for $10, but figured I'd try and fix it if it was a simple fix. The main camera and rest of the phone works perfectly. Can the blurriness of the front camera be fixed?

Rear (Main) Camera
Front Facing Camera

To me its definitely a hardware problem so nothing short of replacing it is gonna fix it. What exactly do you have in mind ?

Maybe the front-facing camera needs to be replaced. The lens is a pin-hole, maybe some broken glass or road debris got into the pin-hole. I'll make one attempt to clear out any debris from the pin-hole before I give up and just buy a replacement part.

Hey. Nice fix. U made it like new! If u don't need a front camera why bother?

I think you have to get a new front camera module.
BTW, what exactly is that DeWALT thing?

[Q] EAR speaker broken[no sound]

oke,so my ear speaker has no sound while calling.
and i dont know if there is any other way of testing it.(all music ect ect go's trugh back speaker)
so im geusing its broken.
so my question is. where can i get a new one?(speaker part)
or is there a way to test it to see if it stil works.
You sure it's not in silent mode? Sorry, but it has to be asked.
It could be a lose connection or just went bad. I had same problem but with rear speaker id just hit it on the palm of my hand a few times and would start working
eventually stopped working all together so i took apart cleaned connections and reseated to the mainboard but no go so i sent back to Samsung
You can try to order the part but you will have to desolder the speaker off the cable becasue the earpiece and rear speaker are two separate parts for some reason
so when you order the new piece it wont come with the rear speaker so you will have to solder that back on...this is why i sent to Samsung didn't want to deal with soldering plus phone was under warranty so
this is the whole assembly (impossible to find online to purchase)

this is what you want
this is the rear speaker you have to desolder off and onto new cable
if under warranty and if definitely defective i would send back if under warrenty

DIY would be the option, find some good lenses and send them to be cut into small size;
get a small plastic wheel which looks like this

craft it from wood
main issue is of lenses, get them DIY will be half done!!!
I was wondering if android can use an iPhone(sorry to mention this here lol) wide-angle or fisheye lenses. Will it fit?

[Q] Dust on camera lens or dead pixels camera sensor?

The other day I was taking a photo and found out the photo had a black spot.
The first thought was, it must be dust on the camera glass.
Removed the rear cover, cleaned the camera glass, took a new photo, black spot is still there.
As can be seen on the first three attached photos the black spot is only visible in the camera view and on the photo.

Now I am thinking that it could either be:
Dust between the camera glass and the camera lens, or
Dead pixels on the camera sensor
What do you think?
I was wondering if anybody has seen this before?
I'm inclined to think that's some crap in the lens, not dead pixels.
It's a decent size spot, I would think something has come adrift to allow something that large to get inside your lens.
Someone else might think different though.
update plz
can u plz temme what was the real problem?? n did it get repaired??or did the phone have to be replaced??
¿Did you try taking a photo with another camera app?
¿Did you try wiping cache/dalvik cache? ¿Are you root?

It's a 9 month old thread, bud.
Also, this is a dirty camera that has absoslutely nothign to do with hardware or software problem. It's pysically dirty.

[Q] Dropped Xoom - now screen random displays like this

I recently dropped my Xoom (in a case onto a carpeted floor). It semeed to survive but now the display shows distorted colors like the sample attached. I thought it might be a loose connection but I can be working away and the screen will revert to normal and stay that way for days.
And I can suspend it while it's okay, come back to it and the display is corrupt again.
Can anybody work out what could be going on? I would prefer not to have to replace the screen but I don't really know if that is the issue if it reverts back to normal all the time.
Thanks

Silly me. The screen shots look distorted to me also because I was posting on the device!
Yeah looks like a loose connector to me. You may be able to fix it if it was a soldering joint. I guess the repair can do the same thing.
I dropped my tablet recently and the screen got screwed like yours, but mine is worse. I don't know too much about hardware, but I think that it's the crystal that broke, so it may be hard to fix :/. Anyway, if you get it back working I hope you to share some info with me, as well I will do if I get working .

yeah mine does too, but honestly, dont see a difference in quality for the cam pics
It's only an issue around the flash since it absorbs some light, and since there's no flash on the front, it doesn't matter. Mine's covering the camera too, no issue at all. I do have a hole for the lightsensor though.
"Edit: think twice about get this one. I was about to install but noticed that it covers up the front camera. I never use the front camera, but still. " Then why cry about it? Most the of the time its just glass so it aint a big problem that its over the lens anyways. But you can get good one's on ebay with the right holes for 3 bucks.
