Hello,
I'm currently doing R&D to create a strap adapter for the Gear S2 which will allow the use of any standard 22mm band w/1.8mm diameter pins. I'm expecting to try some prototypes in early January, to verify fit and finish.
I am open to creating a version that accommodates 20mm and 18mm as well if there is interest.
The options out there for replacement bands are.. extremely lacking. Case in point, there's no leather band available at the time of this writing. I know that many of us, myself included, would love to be able to wear any band we want.
Open to feedback and general opinion on the undertaking!
Sounds good let me know what you come up with. I'm really looking to make an adapter for a mesh black or Silver band along with other types too. Just have been so busy haven't had time to sit down and tinker.

I'm developing two designs concurrently, and will see which one turns out to be better and cost efficient. There will be at least 3 sizes offered, 22mm, 20mm, and 18mm , all of which will allow the use of standard pin bar straps. By the end of January people should be able to purchase them.
Sounds good, I would be interested in the 20 and 22mm adapters. I really can't believe Samsung skipped out on this feature. I honestly was going to go with the Moto 360 2nd Gen but couldn't pass up the rotating dial and I also needed 3G because of my job.

I can't say for certain due to the design variations, and then also the material used for manufacturing, but I would say a stainless steel version without the bar pins would be between $40 and $50 (for a set of 2 adapters). Each watch needs two adapters, and then you need two bar pins and whatever strap you want to use.
If a plastic adapter can be made and is strong enough, that would reduce the cost by about $10, so $30-40 for a set of two adapters.
Rough estimates but I would say that's the higher end of the price range. People are probably going to buy the adapter, then go to a jewelry store to pick out a band and have them install the band, due to the difficulty of bar pins. An alternative would be including two quick release spring bar pins which might be the most user friendly path to take.
That a not a bad price at all, you think it would be possible to use the push pins like the ones built into the watch band?

The adapter will insert into the S2 in the same, or similar, manner as the oem band does, however the 22/20/18mm straps will be attachable through pin bars only. Not sure if that answers your question, let me know if not.
Moderators: I want to be sure that I'm staying within forum guidelines; this thread isn't about me selling to anyone, but rather about feedback regarding the adapter.
Yes partially it does answer my question but I was thinking along the lines of this.

I too, am interested.
No worry on the pins, every strap I have purchased comes with a set and they are not hard to deal with at all.
Fred
The main issue is going to be the clip portion, which has a very very small amount of "bite". Even the stock connector if you hit it hard enough, will come off your wrist. I had it happen while putting my carseat (newborn) into the car - my watch hit the back of the carseat and it feel to the floor.
My designs have been keeping with this clip design, to utilize what Samsung provided. However, I'm not sure it's sufficient. It's a poor design on Samsung's part to do it like this in my humble opinion.
I will have some pictures very soon of a final prototype, before I get it made in stainless steel. Once its made in stainless steel and I verify it's as good as can be, I'll start selling them.
Most recent prototype, with carving marks from x-acto knife. The final version in stainless steel should look even better.

The Samsung I9000 Galaxy S is one of the most powerful mobile phones on the market. To use this power to move even more comprehensive, it is with the Power Pack EBB-U10 perfectly matching battery extension. The Samsung I9000 Galaxy S is there simply implanted "and already it has enough power for up to an additional 8.5 hours of talk time or up to 500 hours standby. The testers are, moreover, agreed by the Bank: The Samsung I9000 Galaxy S is found in the top rankings ever before and need no other phone to hide. Example is the good test results with CHIP, and connect online kosten.de.
The google translation starts of fine... it gets all crazy at the end lol. Cool though, not exactly sure how it works...
My translation
The Samsung Galaxy S I9000 is one of the most powerful phones on the market. The Power-Pack EBB-U10 is a perfectly tuned Battery-Enhancement to use this power more comfortable on the go. The Galaxy S easily sits in the case and can use an additional 8,5 hours of voice or 500 hours standby. The testers are troughout impressed by the Galaxy S: it tops every highscore and doesnt have to hide behind other phones. Take the tests from CHIP, connect and online-kosten.de for example.

It works just like every iPhone Batterycase. A battery is built in the case. It connects to the phone via the USB port.
that sounds nice! hopefully it's going to be cheap and available soon
I wonder how much thicker this makes the phone.
The weight is 70 grams. Making the whole thing 188 grams heavy.
iPhone 4 is 137 grams total.
I like the concept and the fact it doubles as a case for the back and sides fo the Galaxy S. It looks very nice and extends the overall usage time of the device. So plus plus in my books.
Here's to hoping it doesn't cost TOO MUCH and that it doesn't hinder the 3.5 socket. I was waiting for an official battery to be released out there, then they announce something better.
This may actually make the phone feel sturdier and protect the back. It can also make a more explosive phone LOL
Galaxy S Power Pack Provides 8.5 Hours of Extra Talk Time
Not for me, but just trying to spread the word in case anyone desires/needs more juice and doesn't like carrying extra batteries.

to my knowledge in the top right corner of the korean version of SGS there is a antenna (tv or something). the battcase (and all other hardcases) has therefore at this place a hole for better reception. now if u look to the photo u see through this hole and u see another hole, that one is for the cam.
lets hope u unterstand what i mean...
OT:
anyways, i still don't understand why samsung placed its usb connection in the top left corner ... this is a real hardware design mistake - like the iphone 4 antenna design.

That's a massive hole for a keychain.
It's for the antenna, they're not going to make 2 different kinds just so some can have the hole.

From my early years I was trying to create the ideal design of a phone. But then Steve Jobs ruined all my illusions with totally changing the path evolution of smartphones. But you can't stop the progress, and the smartphone of the future must blow up our minds as much as iPhone did. But how must it look and which functions must it be capable of?
These points with me :
1. Let's forgot the battery
2. Update hardware with OTA
3. No Chinese pirated app stores ...

Nobody did it because the touch screens weren't very good at registering fingers at the time, and the PDA was for the professional user to keep notes, not the general population.
Apple improved the screen to register fingertips (which it still didn't always do very well. You couldn't write on it for sh*t, and half the time it didn't register a touch.), but a single step improvement is by no means mindblowing. There were plenty of computer displays that already used tip-touchscreens; you found them in shops, factories... Apple just made the screen smaller.
What was mindblowing about Apple's launch of the iPhone was their exceptional marketing strategy. As much as I dislike their products (and their sheer lack of service), I have nothing but respect for their marketing team.
Yes, you weren't spamming. But making posts for the sake of getting posts, even if they're useful, is frowned upon; you're supposed to get your first 10 posts by helping others.
I also very much like the idea of foldable displays, but only if we can get them truly foldable. Imagine, your entire computer on a flexible sheet of plastic? You could stick it in your wallet, and then fold it out to 22"! I would so love that. With the contact lenses, of course (have you seen Continuum? think of the contact lenses like the CMR in that.. )

Remember how massive the old computers were? You needed a truck to house 100KB. Hard to imagine we can stuff 128GB into a thumb-sized piece of plastic when you look back at that. They can store TB's on plastic tape.
And when Quantum Computing finally kicks off, we'll stop thinking about physical size altogether, because we'll be talking about nano technology.

Kingston have fitted 1TB onto a thumb drive, well to be fair it's about a double thumb drive.
Quantum computing is a far way away though and it's very unclear what it'll do for personal computing. It'll be king for decryption and similar, if it can be utilized for graphics we'll see pretty much unlimited graphics where software will be the bottleneck. (Imagine coding a graphic engine for a quantum computer). Exciting stuff though.

A mix of the new projector technology used in iphone6, with the bendable screens of samsung. With a Paranoid Rom
how far into the future? I think eventually it would be an augmentation into our pupils. Yup...in the future we'll be installing ROMs to our eyeballs.
Anybody having experience with edge and vr? I just ordered a "giant" cardboard vr headset.
I won't spent a ten times bigger budget on gear vr (yet) just for playing around.
Please let me know how it works. I never bought one because I was told the lenses do not work well with larger phones, and that a different lens would needed.

Did you receive it yet? If so, how is it ?
No worries, i will give feedback as soon as my unit arrives.
It left HongKong on the 12th, no idea when it will arrive in Europe.
The site says 7-14 working days.

VR Headset
I Bought this one. Quality is really nice and it fits the Note Edge precisely. Confortable to wear and really nice lenses.
3 Issues.
1. It keep pushing my volume button (more an issue of the phone lying down) so the volume is low after putting it in. Maybe a bit of tape arund the volume controls helps
2. No magnetic buttons like on the cardboard (can probably add it DIY)
3. Headphone opening is not alligned, cut out a small piece will be enough
Overall, for 16 euros I'm really happy with this sturdy device. Tried VR videos, Rollercoaster etc. Not yet found a real use.
Anyone knows how to get the Note4 VR Apps on the Edge?

I understand but what are they supposed to do if it had them
I got my unit!
The black foam looks good and our tiny edge fits just nicely.
The magnetic lever works (after i realized i had to pull it quickly) and even the NFC tag triggers .. something.
As for the software (you can try it even without the cardboard), well some apps work, others don´t.
For example i can´t start the cardboard demos and other apps have no display. Tuscany dive, Roller Coaster VR or Sisters work well. These apps are based on a different gfx engine, so the cardboard player might be a problem. The NFC tag tries to trigger the cardboard app but fails.
There seems some info on this issue over here:

Overall this is a nice toy! But the rollercoaster got me sick rather fast but inspired my work mate to order the same cardboard for himself (note4).
I will post pictures later
So, as promised some pictures attached:
thanks for posting pictures. I might wait until they fix the bugs
so i am now trying to decide between these two. I often see people reviewing large versions of cardboard that it needs a different lens than what most cardboards come with. The first link seems to be the only one ive found to have such different lenses, intended for larger phones. Second link shows another large set with regular lenses, but that is well reviewed with larger phones. Thoughts or recommendations?

Apperantly it's only for the note 4 and will not work with edge. But galaxy S6 and edge s will have compatibility. Looks like I'm gonna have to get occculas dk2.

Yes it fits, but you still have no Oculus apps. So its a bit pointless.
