Gear S2 Classic 3G Model SM R735S - Samsung Gear S2

Has anyone purchased the 3G Classic Edition? I'm thinking of selling my existing Classic and purchasing the 3G as I miss the speaker function. I didn't even know there was a 3G version coming out in the Classic model?

It seems they do exist but have only been released to the South Korean market. Not sure what that might mean for compatibility with sims from other regions around the world though...

G D it!!! Why?!?!?!?
Anyone have any idea why they did this? Fer gawds sake, I bought a 3G, because that functionality was important. I would have definitely paid MORE to get a classic 3G version.
WTF is wrong with the marketing people in these companies? Don't they want to make money? Since they're already making it, it's not like the cost to sell it here too is prohibitive.

Samsung did this for the same reason companies do anything: profit. My guess is they figured they wouldn't sell enough in other markets to make enough money. They maybe wanted to focus marketing efforts rather than flood the market with devices like they have done before. Who knows exactly. What I do know is that Samsung would have released this to a wider market if they thought it would increase their net revenue.

Sorry but i failed to find REAL picture and REAL size of this model, i think real size is 44x47x13,4 but i can't know if it is true, and about the weight ??? some say 67g and other 55 ect, if somebody could shows us picture of the SM R735S versus S2 classic, it could be very usefull,
on ebay some spec say the SM R735 have the same size of the S2 classic !!!! lol if it is true i take it now ^^
i hope somebody will post picture ... Thanks.

I'm currently in South Korea and I think I've seen enough to answer the why question. New tech is really popular here even among older people; they probably sell more smart watches here than in the US so the cost of offering more models in that market just isn't appealing.

here, hope this helps, the manual for my 3g classic, as I said, I had the non 3g and now has the 3g, not much difference in size or anything. http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rc...itiHwZXx6jlRi6CdVAd7QA&bvm=bv.111396085,d.ZWU

yes it is a 3G model, or anyway what it is, i don't have the same S2 classic than this guys ... there is some difference (dead zone and strap insertion is different) so if he don't have a 3G classic it means there is another model ? lol

I wonder how different/same the "guts" are from the 3G swatchlikeversion? Is it possible (please!) they are the same, and could just be swapped into a classic 3G case, simply having to hook up the digitizer and bezel (and probably display too)?
This could be a way to get a completely "compliant", functioning, US carrier 3G classic. Likely expensive, but hell, I've wasted so much on smartwatches already that dropping another US$100-150 to make this damn thing the way I want it is thinkable.
EDIT: Check out this this picture:
It certainly looks entirely possible the design may accomodate swapping parts. Heck, it may take nothing more than swapping the logic board between the two watches.
Then, the regular 3G version becomes a Korean unit; sell it on ebay.
Tempted to order one just to try this out here in the US, and if it doesn't work, and the 3G classic can't get on to Verizon (I would think it could, technically, but will Verizon allow it?), then I can just resell it on ebay and eat some loss.
This is probably net-net the most economical approach, rather than trying to but replacement parts.

Just bought my LG G Pro 2 D838

I have just bought my LG G Pro 2 off eBay for £320 from a UK stocked supply so hopefully will be getting it tomorrow. I am on the Three network so 4G should work fine, although the 800 band 4G won't be supported when they roll it out in the rural areas, but I don't mind that. I currently have an iPhone 5S and iPad, and having previously had all android devices I have just never been able to get into the Apple products, I think they are way over rated, so the iPhone and iPad I have are going on eBay next week, and this LG G Pro 2 will be a compromise over having 2 different devices ). I have read so many positive things about the G Pro 2 and they aren't loaded with stupid technology you don't need, and they are cheaper than Samsung phones. I was looking at the Sony Z Ultra as they are selling them for £250 on Expansys, but I felt it was too big, and many reviewers said the screen wasn't bright enough and the battery isn't removable. So what are your opinions for those of you who already have this phone?

Congratulations on your purchase. You're going to love this phone. The screen might be on the bigger side but I find it perfect for reading on the go and playing games. The minimal bezels and the amazing battery life are such a treat to have. and it has a much slimmer profile than I had expected. All the best for using the phone. Do feel free to reach out to the community if you have any queries or issues :good:

Hi there everyone the phone arrived today, am very impressed, I think the screen is better than my iPhone 5s which is going on eBay next week lol. It blows my iPad air out of the water too, I have always been disappointed with the display on the iPad air. It reminds me of a TN panel on a budget laptop.
I can see this LG G Pro 2 serving me well, its easy to use and I love the UI, which am surprised about as I normally like vanilla stock android. It just seems to work. I can't believe LG hasn't released this phone in the UK. I think it would do very well as far as phablets go. I'll update more as the day goes on.
I haven't seen any FM radio by the way. If you have unlimited data plan just stream it on one of the many radio streaming sites.

I have received mine yesterday evening and it's gorgeous. What a beautiful screen. As I have a G2 as well the speed seems the same, may be sometimes a little faster.
B.t.w. I cannot select "swype" from keyboard. I could on my G2. Is that normal? Okay I have installes Swype for now but the G3 keyboard wolud have been nicer.

I already rooted my D838 and have installed the G3 keyboard as well. But that doesn't give you the trace function on the D838. I searched a bit further and found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2531417 where is described how to enable the swipe/trace function. After edit my build.prop swipe is working fine with the LG G3 keyboard. Also G2tweakbox xposed addon works really well on our D838.

Hello all
Does any of you know about the availability of the D837 version in Europe (particularly UK) all I can see on eBay is the D838. My concern is that the D838 only supports 1800 / 2600 on 4G. I am with "Three Mobile" which as I understand mainly uses 800. I can see that the D837 has better frequency support on 2G and 4G which is more useful to me as Three user and also because I travel quite often.
I don't have much information about the F350 model but I can see on eBay being sold from Korea or China (I rather buy from a UK seller), does any one know which frequencies this version supports.
And the last question to the OP (or anyone in a similar situation). I can see that you have bought the D837 and using Three mobile, have you had any issues so far, how does the 4G performs?
Your help would be much appreciated.
LTE bands
I have the F350s, and in the hidden service menu you can choose other LTE bands, and other GSM frequency's then what is listed in the phone spec. For example I'm in the the US on AT&T and LTE band 17 is a option and works great.
this phone is a hidden gem....
I've had my LG G Pro 2 32GB for a couple of months now, it's the best phone I've had since my Sony Xperia Z Ultra 16GB. But now it's time to move on to another device so put it up for sale. It's a shame LG messed up the D83810F update, looking forward to G Pro 3 if LG bother with it.

D837 is rare. i wanted to buy one in HK (the seller advertised it) but it was just a sales tactic to get people in the door. most phones from here will be the F350 or D838.
i use GiffGaff in the UK which is on the O2 network so i'll be on 3G when I come over later this month.
While 3 does use some 800MHz, the official line from them is your device needs to support 1800MHz.

Work in the UK?

Hello,
I've been looking for a new 4G Smartphone, something like a Xiaomi, Meizu or a Huawei.
I think I've settled on the Mate 7 as I like the look of the fingerprint sensor and the style.
However, will it work in the UK? I get that it's mixed regarding the USA, but any chance of it working over here?

Yes, Three uses B3/20. FDD B3 is designed for outdoor coverage and B20 is a PLUS/BONUS for indoor (e.g., in a shop mart; similar as TDD B40/41 for underground coverage) coverage. You can check with THREE for the best answer.

There are a few English sellers who are selling them for about £530, for the 32GB model. Is this too much? Is this about right? Is it worth it?
Gahh, I can't decide between the 2GB and 3GB model. I tend to keep my phones for a long time (still running a Nexus 4).

We recommend 3 GB RAM model if you are to keep the phone a a long time (e.g., >2 years).
With respect to the price, we have mentioned in your other thread and many of our posts. Trust us or your own judgement.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-7/general/2gb-vs-3gb-t2937269/page2
Is it worth it? All depends on your needs, no one answers that but yourself.
Best of luck.
Tl10 working in uk no issues
I just got delivery of my GOLD Ascend mate 7 and guys, i am LOVING it. the fact that i can put my work SIM and my personal SIM in it is just brilliant. I am on EE as well. i do not have 4g as i believe its just a reap off by the networks, HSPA+ works well on both. It does come up with 4g when i turn on the phone for the first few seconds but i always just turn it off anyways. The finger print scanner is pure AMAZEBALLS.
Call quality is also very good. I noticed that when i had my Samsung Galaxy note 3, it would drop reception signal once or twice a day in the house, at times, it would loose signal altogether. This hasn't dropped a single signal bar at all. i tried to run down the battery all day yesterday but i gave up in the end. it only had like 45% battery when i took it out of the box. i did not charge it at all.
Also, i got like 7 OTA updates while i was playing with it. Mine is from China so it came with a load of Chinese bloat-ware. i was able to uninstall most of it though. installing Google play was a breeze just by searching for it from the APP centre on the phone. the only problem i had was syncing my contacts, as soon as i got the right googlesynscontact apk, all was good. i am still exploring the phone. it is SLIM for the size it is. i paid £530 for mine. this amount includes the shipping cost as well.
oh, i can change either SIM 1 or SIM 2 to 4g, 3g or 2g.. it all depends on the one i wish to use for data purpose. When you are using 2 SIMs at once, you cant use a Memory card as well. But if you are just using a Micro SIM only, then you can use the other nano slot with a memory card. Mine came unlocked so i did not feel the need to root it . if you guys in UK have any questions, please feel free to get in touch.

Gear S2 with 3G - Finally a SmartWatch worth getting

This is it!! A Major GO!
I have been waiting years for the perfect watch...and now its finally here.
And for those who dont have Samsung phones, good news, this watch works with all android 4.4+ phones (1.5 gb ram required).
Works full featured with Samsung phones. They weren't very clear on how much functionality they would have with other Android devices.

I do believe this is the future of sim-cards. Future phones will all be e-sim and then you activate them via the phone companies.
A very good thing to have less compartments in the design that has to be accessable. Better water resistant and less parts that can break.

Sure, but they are not very good for people like me that swap a sim between different devices. I have a gear s with its own Sim, and was planning on getting a gear s2. Figured I would just switch the Sim depending on the watch I wanted to wear. If the s2 has an e-sim then it doesn't sound like that would work. It's good for those who just updated to a new device, but not for those with multiple devices as far as I understand it. I don't want to call my phone company every time I switch watches lol. If that's the case then I might just get the classic black non-3g instead.

If that's the case then I might just get the classic black non-3g instead.

Just an fyi, carriers such as T-Mobile allow you to change the sim via your account online...no need to call

Precisely everything you said. I switch back and forth between devices all the time.
In addition to this, eSIMs make international travel difficult. I usually take my US sim out of my phone after I board a plane, and put in my European SIM. As soon as the plane lands, I have a connection and I am reachable. eSIMs would make it much much harder to switch carriers, since I'd be on a plane with NO way to contact a European carrier (like, how do I know what number to call, and what if I don't want to pay outrageous roaming charges), plus I may not speak the language even if I managed to call them (again, how would I do this?!), would have to spell out my name and address in a foreign language (provided I understood that's what they are asking me to do), then give out my CC number and specifics while on a crowded plane. What a nightmare.
It's a huge inconvenience. Vodafone is not on board with eSIMs luckily, and they have a big chunk of the European mobile phone market. I assume even if Tmo and ATT want to move to eSIMs, there will still be devices made with physical SIM card slots that I can purchase, just like I can still buy phones with SD card slots.
At this point, I just don't want to support the move towards eSIMs by buying such a limited device.

If they make the SIM accessible someone else would whine about lower water resistance rating.

I didn't hear any whining about the Gear S not being more water resistant. No sweat, rain, snow or water fosset has ever harmed my Gear S, and it's been in all of those in the past 10 months.

T-Mobile screws us

So it's now official, after five phone calls and finally speaking with third tier T-Mobile tech support, I was told that my area was recently refarmed and I can no longer get 3G service with the 1900 band effectively making my X2 a brick capable of nothing more than Edge. Furthermore, he indicated to me that this is the way things will go into the future and eventually, T-Mobile will support nothing but 4G LTE service (bring your own device.... But not really.)
So where to go from here? I had heard on another forum that AT&T is still supporting 3G over band 1900; but I don't know if they allow you to bring your own phone to the party and I also don't know how long it will be until they themselves eliminate 3G service. Apart from that, I guess my quest is to still find the largest phone I can that will support 4G LTE data in the United States while continuing to hope and pray that Huawei gives us the present of a 7 inch premium phablet with US bands.
As always, I remain open to any other solutions anyone might have or any information that I'm unaware of. Today is a truly sad day for a guy who truly loved his mediapad X2 : (

Sorry to hear that about TMO. I have been pushing to move away from ATT because the prices don't compare. We moved to the "new" ATT unlimited plan and 5 phones run us $330/mo vs the previous $410/mo on their "discount" family plan. I too am sold on the X2 and I can't let it go. I don't see anything else like it out there. I considered Huawei's new 8-inch tablet but without a handset it would be tough to use on a daily basis. ATT still supports the 3G speeds, at least in the Kansas City area, but who knows if that will change. Several times they have changed something on their network and I have had to search and find new APN settings. There are a few alternatives that I've seen but none that can compete with the X2. If you see anything else, let me know.
Thanks!
Jim
Yep, they did the same in my area about 4 months ago.
The whole thing is terribly frustrating. Clearly there is a market (albeit small) for a seven inch phone, so why are we ignored? Blu made one with US 4G LTE bands but i hear it sucks and only has 1 gig of ram causing it to freeze every time you open an app. Posh made a nice 6.4 that I had for a while; but it was a refurb and call quality was terrible. Plus, they are very hard to find. Checked out the Lenovo Phab 2 line (6.4"), but I'm not impressed at all and the new Samsung Note looks like a dildo.
I just ordered an old (new stock) Galaxy Mega which I owned a few years ago and loved. ...but compared to the X2, it's a dwarf (guess I've been spoiled.) So at this point, I really have no other option but to try ATT (who I detest) for a month pre-paid to see if i can go back to getting consistent HSPA on my beloved X2.
I sure hope someone at some point wakes up and gives us what we need...but I ain't holding my breath.
I'm eagerly anticipating the Huawei Honor Note 9 because I feel it's the only device that will be comparable to our beloved X2. I check for new info everyday but so far nothing but some uncertain leaks from Chinese websites. Does anyone have any *new* info? Better yet a way for us loyalists to get much deserved discount would be nice.

Looks like the same deal as the X2 unless they release a US version:
https://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_honor_note_9-8799.php
According to this page (careful !!):
https://www.gsmarc.com/huawei/honor-note-9/
the LTE bands are LTE 2100, LTE 800, LTE 1800, LTE 2600, LTE 900, LTE 2300, LTE 2500, (VoLTE)
not so bad (for my country, only 700Mhz is missed)
But I'm a bit worried about the price of the phone
Just ordered this through Amazon. Looks promising and US bands too!!!!!

Let me know how you like it. It doesn't have band 12 on T-Mobile which sucks. I may have picked one of those up if it did. If you buy it directly through iRulu and use coupon code G3DEAL50 you'll get it for $149.99.

I tried KingRoot, Kingoroot, One Click Root and others. Nothing has worked so far. I saw that 149.99 deal but like the fact I got it in 2 days with free shipping and no tax from Amazon Prime and can return it for a full refund with free shipping back to them no question asked...

If those root options don't work then the phone most likely will never be rooted. I bought a ZTE Zmax Pro about 8 months back to use as a spare phone and that was never rooted so i'm sure the iRulu probably won't be.

Thanks for posting this! It actually looks really good especially for the price, except for the fact that the battery is 4300mAh and I suspect Li-on not Li-Po. The price point is 10/10 and is simply amazing.
I wonder if a discount will be available on the upcoming Huawei Honor Note 9 as well... It is supposed to be released Dec 6 or 20

Never rooted a phone before...and not really sure why you would want to (probably best I don't know : )
The comment about the GPS scares me...and could potentially be deal breaker for me. But the rest of it seems livable. Not sure what led notification is either, but I figure if I don't know what it is, it probably won't matter to me that I don't have it. Otherwise, I went with Amazon because of their no hassle return. For me, that's worth every bit of 50 bucks on something I'm unsure of.
So after one day with the iRulu, my impressions are thus,
For me, this is in no way a replacement for my Media Pad X2. The build quality is just not there.
First, the good: this is the largest screen phone that I could find with the bands to receive 4G LTE in the United States. There are other larger ones such as the Posh L 700 and the 7 inch model made by Blu, but I don't think either of these phones can be taken seriously with their pitiful 1 GB of RAM.
Second, the phone works reasonably well. I was able to watch YouTube videos without difficulty and surf the web just fine. It was easy to load on applications and most things work as they should. Bluetooth was fine, easily connecting with both my car stereo and my laptop computer. In short, this is a decent low to middle tier phone; but it is NOT a Huawei.
The bad: As I was loading on applications, the phone did randomly restart; but this was only on one occasion, so I don't really consider it to be a big deal at this point.
Second: The GPS is as horrible as reported. I put it on for goofs navigating to work; and several times while driving down 95, the GPS had me somewhere in the middle of the woods. I don't think it would have caused me to miss turns; especially if I was using Google maps audio turn by turn directions; but generally speaking, it does not work as it is supposed to.
Third: at least for me, the phone seemed small. That half an inch screen size between this and the media pad really made a large difference to me. I guess I'm just used to my Huawei, and I like what I like. I also didn't find the phone aesthetically pleasing, which is not really a big deal to me; but it lacks the perfection in design of the MPX2.
Fourth and the biggie: is that I purchased this phone because it had 4G LTE bands in the United States. I used the thing all day long driving around the state of New Jersey; and not once did the phone indicate that I was receiving 4G LTE signal. As a matter of fact, I believe that I get a better signal on the AT&T network with the HSPA bands in the Huawei.
Unfortunately, for me, it's a bust. I will be returning this on Amazon and continue my quest for a mega screen phone that has LTE bands in the United States. One might ask why I am so hung up about LTE bands if I seem to be getting good Signal with the Huawei. It is because I have been told by people at AT&T that my days of enjoying my media pad are numbered; because they will soon be moving to a system similar to T-Mobile that will render the media pad useless. This so-called 5G technology will essentially render most manufacturer unlocked phones useless for some time until the technology catches up. Hopefully, it will take longer to accomplish this so-called feat of progress than it will take for some manufacturer to realize that there is a market for a high-end super screen phone in the United States.
Oh well.....
> I don't know if they allow you to bring your own phone
Yes, I use AT&T prepaid and brought my own phone. Also I'm paying $55/month with 10GB data. The service is of course throttled to what I believe is 15MBPs or something, but it's better service from the other resellers like Straight Talk that use the same towers.
The resellers appear to get low-tier service (I used to be on ST and have tried some others, with some terrible issues).

Not using LTE/3G Is it possible to use normal 22mm watchbands?

As far as i understand, the bands on LG Watch Urbane 2 is secured with torx screws, so technically, the hole to mount any other watchbands are there, but is it possible? I don't mind losing mobile data signal since I don't really use it.
I'm not a fan of silicon/leather bands, i'm interested in using steel link type bands.
Any kind people that have a normal watchbands and LG Urbane 2 that are willing to try?
In another topic, since we have root on this watch, can I change the background on system setting to complete black to take full advantage of OLED display?
I was curious about this as well... as i would use mine with our TMobile service so it wouldn't be compatible anyways..
