Gallery app that has toggleable EXIF data? - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a gallery app in the playstore out there where you can toggle the display of EXIF data? So that I don't need to always click the details for each photo when I'm swiping from photo to photo.
I'm trying to compare and contrast shots taken on my phone in an easy way, so that I'll know easily which mode takes a better shot under which scenario.
Thanks!

I would recommend QuickPic but only the version before Cheetah Mobile bought it since Cheetah is an information harvesting company with low moral that is part of Kingsoft and Baidu (They all are shady).

You can enable for it to show ISO, shutter speed, date and resolution at low left border so you just can swipe between photos and instantly have this information visible and it is non obtrusive.
QuickPic -> Settings -> "Viewer" ->"Show controls at bottom" -> "Details".

[Q] What's "whiteboard"?

The camera has several settings, like HDR or Close Up - but it also has a setting called "whiteboard" - which isn't described in the manual.
Anybody know what it does?
Assume for taking photos of your office whiteboard.
So no official docs on this?
A quick search of HTC.com would have revealed this:
What different camera modes can I use?
To take pictures that are customized to a specific environment, tap the Scenes icon to choose from the different Scenes (modes) that are available. The icon is located on the bottom-left of the screen when shooting in landscape mode, and is reflective of the scene that is currently active (A will be displayed if Auto mode is active) The different scenes are:
Slow motion video – Create brilliant slow-motion video without needing to use video editing software later.
Auto – Take high quality pictures with a very fast capture speed. This is the default setting and also enables other features such as continuous shooting.
HDR – In bright light conditions, bring out the details of both highlights and shadows without washing out the image.
Panorama – Extend your shot by taking high quality panoramic pictures.
Portrait –Adds a smoothing effect to skin and bringing out the most of the human features.
Group portrait – Captures the most possible smiles and fewest blinks.
Landscape – Brings out the best features of nature’s wonders.
Whiteboard – Take the best possible pictures of highly reflective surfaces.
Close up – Also known as macro mode, this mode brings out the best colours and features of pictures taken at a close range.
Low light – Take great pictures in bad conditions, reducing overexposure caused by using a flash in these conditions (The flash is disabled while using the Low light scene).

How do you think I found the info for you? Btw the search of HTC.com took 30 seconds. I was over estimating by merely saying "quick search" because I figured it would take a lazy, entitled person a little longer. I guess not everyone has enough common sense to perform an internet search, though. So, how 'bout you look at the link I posted in my first reply? Better yet, maybe I should act like a spoiled child too, and retract my help.

Motion Panorama Conversion?

I took a couple of panoramic photos but didn't realize that the motion panorama setting was turned on. As such the file size for the photos were quite large (30-50mb). Is there any way to convert the photos to a non-motion one so the file size isn't so large?

Is there no option of "Save as image" or export ?
Can vaguely remember something like when I've done it
No options in the gallery app or in the file explorer I'm suing (Solid Explorer). The motion panorama photo is still in JPEG format.

Try to find the picture/movie from your camera: Start the camera, click on the tiny icon of the last picture you took and swipe until you find the correct one. In that you should see the Save photo option.

I've tried as instructed. The only options I see when I get to the picture is a "more" in the upper right of the screen (options include: rotate left, rotate right, details, slideshow, set as contact picture, set as wallpaper). And on the bottom of the screen the other options are auto adjust, share, edit, and delete.
Hmm... I guess there aer enough apps to remove exif information. Maybe those work to remove all extra info.

Enable Full Manual Controls in camera

I just recently bought Xperia XZ and I'm very disappointed to see that the "Full Manual Controls" in the camera UI and Camera2 API are actually pretty limited. Manual settings, such as "Saturation", "Contrast", "Sharpness", available since a long long time in Samsung and HTC devices, are absolutely unavailable and inaccessible here, neither in the default camera UI, nor in third-party applications, such as FreeDCam, Camera FV-5 and so on. For example, if you check this video, showing the capabilities of the FreeDCam application - youtube.com/watch?v =PWg0KaXbv5I (I can not post links yet, so you have to remove the spaces) , you can see how many settings at the bottom of the screen can be manually adjusted. But when I installed this application on my Xperia XZ, I got only "Manual focus", "ISO", "Manual exposure time", "Exposure compensation" and "Zoom". All other settings are missing. I read some time ago that Sony finally enabled the full manual settings, but from what I see quite a lot of settings are missing... Is there any way to enable them, maybe by rooting the device or I don't know, but I need them, otherwise I'll have to sell the phone and look for other options...

Most likely it's an app limitation. Just like when I tried to install Camera FV-5 and Manual Camera apps for lower shutter speed but unfortunately they only provide 1/10 SS while the stock camera has 1 second.

That one as well, I forgot about that one, as well as the ISO limited only up to 800, and many others, all these limitations are set by Sony to their Camera2 API so that no third-party apps can use the full potential of that sensor, which is a shame. Clear evidence is that when you install the same application, even from the same apk file, on other phones, such as Samsung or HTC, these additional manual contrrol options are present, they are missing only on Xperia phones...
The reason why I need these settings is because of the camera's very poor performance with the default camera app, mostly because of the dull and poor colors, and I want to compensate that by boosting the saturation and the contrast. Even my trustworthy 5 years old Xperia Pro takes much better photos - with less noise and better colors... I'm very disappointed with Xperia XZ's camera...

I made two screenshots with my Xperia XZ, the first one with Camera1 API, the second one with Camera2 API, and the third screenshot, which I took from this site - en.miui.com/thread-269521-1-1.html , shows the UI of the application as seen on Samsung, HTC, MIUI and other brands or ROMs (basically the default manual controls, provided by stock Camera2 API in stock Android). Clearly the ones from the Xperia miss quite a lot of manual options...

F8331_CameraParameters.txt is created with camera1 -> Settings > Save camera parameters (for some reasons I can't find "Save camera parameters" when using camera2);
log1.txt is created with Camera FV-5 with camera2 set;
log2.txt is created with Manual Camera Compatibility application.
Maybe someone should provide such logs from other phones so that we can compare them.

i see the params its because the device is using sony camera hal and not qualcomms thats why the parameters in camera 2 you maybe able to control sharpness via edge mode and contrast via tone curve .
dunno if you have raw option in camera2 if you tap on jpeg to the left of ui there should be raw10 or raw_sensor if there is neither the best you can hope for is for an aosp rom with qualcomm framework on know the z5c had full qualcomm hal so it had all the options available including raw

It is known issue that the Xperia XZ (as well as all Xperias so far, not sure whether Z5 makes exception) have no RAW capture, so the jpeg option on the left of the UI has only option at all - jpeg and that's it But I'm very disappointed to hear that previous generations Xperias had more manual controls than the latest ones, that's really a shame

How to Use "Scene" with HTC Photo?

HTC's Photo application is supposed to support "scenes". Here's what the PDF documentation says:
Choosing a scene
Instead of manually adjusting the camera settings, you can select a scene with predefined settings that best matches the environment you're capturing.
1. On the Home screen, tap the camera icon to open the Camera app.
2. Switch to Pro mode. See Choosing a capture mode for details.
3. Tap [A] and then choose a preset scene. Select:
[moon & stars] when capturing nightscape such as a city skyline or street with city lights. Keep the camera steady when taking the shot for best results.
[man running] when capturing a fast-moving subject such as your kid playing sports or a moving car.
[flower] when capturing a close-up shot of a subject such as a flower or insect.
4. When you're ready to take the photo, tap [shutter release].
If you need to manually adjust a scene and save it as a new preset, see Manually adjusting camera settings.

Note that the documentation uses graphic icons for [A], [moon & stars}, and so forth, which I can't reproduce in the quote. See the screen-shot attached.
Also see the screen shot for what my "Pro" mode shows. I can't find the [A] to tap, to select a different scene. How do I get "scenes" to work?

How to change the image selection app when using Chomp SMS

This seems like a simple question, but I can't find an answer. Any help would be appreciated.
0. Pixel 4A running Android 12
1. In Chomp (my default SMS/MMS app), when I want to send a picture, I click the small picture icon under Tools to select an image.
2. This opens an app with "Gallery" at the top and all my pictures.
3. The Gallery app has no date seperators or controls to change the layout of pictures - it is just one long grid of pictures.
4. Unfortunately, Gallery seems to sorted by date taken only. As I scroll down, there is no way to tell when a picture is was taken (no breaks between dates). So, when I need to find a picture from last year sometime, I scroll forever - back and forth - trying to figure out if a picture I see was before or after the picture I want. This is nuts.
5. So, I want to stop using Gallery and start using something better - preferably F-Stop (where my pictures are organized by folders, keywords and dates.)
6. My first try was to disable Gallery - however there is no app listed as Gallery, Photo Gallery, Google Gallery, etc (At least I could not find it)
7. My second try was to disable Google Photos (and it sorts by date taken but it has breaks between different dates ) - I disabled it but no change. Gallery still opened as the selection app.
8. My third try was to attempt to change the default app for pictures - but there isn't one. I see defaults for Browser, Calls, Digital assistant, Laucher, Phone app and SMS app - nothing about images.
I'm stumped (but that is not hard to do to me)
Does anyone know how stop Gallery from opening or use a different app when in Chomp?
I use Chomp but don't use it to send pictures, but try this
Let the gallery app open and in the top left hand corner there should be a Recents icon, this should open a file viewer that also shows a 'Browse in other apps' bar where hopefully your app of choice is shown, tap that and you should then be able to pick F-Stop organised the way you want.
You may have to do this each time though
Thank you. The frame in the upper-left corner looks like a broken picture. However, when tapped, it is a search box that also lets me change apps. Thanks again for solving my problem.
