Battery Drain and Factory Reset - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm with battery drain problem. Sometimes it happens to fall at once 2%. I see a lot of people with this same problem. A user of Sony's official forum said he did factory reset and resolved. Someone tried?

I found issue when light sensor is on, display consumes more power and goes back normally when set to off and manually control of light.
it needs to be fixed by sony

[Q] [HELP] Scrolling Problem

last night, my phone was overheating. and then i'm trying to cool it down by putting it in front of a fan. when i use my phone, my scrolling is error. it stops when my thumb/fingers is not touching ( do you get it ? :silly: ) . on a normal phone, the screen keeps scrolling even if my finger/thumbs not touching and slow down until stops. but not with my phone. it just stops without slowing down...
can anyone help me ? :fingers-crossed:
sorry for my bad english
Try restarting??
And JB has higher inertia while scrolling. That means if you scroll lightly, it will stop very fast, unlike Gingerbread 2.3.x.
Also, a possible cause might be that you were charging. XL has a slightly aberrant scrolling response while charging, most likely due to the interference caused by the charging battery.
Yes. It worked
Btw, how did you know that xperia L has problem with charging?

Hi!
I noticed this problem with mine too. I was charging my phone and using it on Facebook. Scrolling worked fine but when mi finger was on the screen (just touching the screen, no scrolling), the image went up and down. It looked like the screen didn't know what to do.
But I was not using the charger given in the box, I was using an older one given with my Xperia Mini Pro from 2011.
When I use the charger given in the box, there is no problem.
I've seen this problem on X10 Mini Pro too.

I don't know where it comes from, sorry.
as far as I know, it happens with all chargers. But maybe it just escapes attention sometimes? The charging battery affects the capacitive touchscreen response.

When I saw this "problem" I let the phone charging with my "older" charger. But when it was finished, I tried it with the new one. I went on every application that need to scroll but all was right.
It may be something with electricity quality, like speakers which have interference... (That's just an idea)
yeah. It happens only sometimes. I suspect when the phone draws considerable charge from battery, and the battery from the charger, resulting in higher electromagnetic interference.

Update or bad screen?

Hey people
Got my smart watch about 4 days ago and it was all good until tonight and now for some reason i can't see the clock anymore unless i press the power button :S i could have sworn it had a low light mode and the clock was visable ok but since tonight i can't see the time unless there's a light pointing straight at the watch. I hooked it upto the service centre thing and updated it through that but hasn't helped.
am I going mad here and just seeing things? :S
EDIT: i also noticed when i turn it off i get some weird colours appearing in the clockface some pinks/purples. i don't understand it was ok a couple of hours ago and it's been on my wrist the whole time :S
Did you try to reset the watch? Also our you have any custom clocks installed, remove them. As after reset, Sony smartwatch app will reinstall them on the watch, once the watch and the phone are connected.
On your watch, go to settings and tap reset watch.

tried that chap loads of times and nothing tried re-installing firmware and nothing swell. no custom watchfaces installed either just the stock ones

Just to make it clear, you are not talking about the low power mode right? No backlight, but can be still seen by people in ambient light??? Maybe you should take a picture of the watch so we can clearly see what is going on.
At night my sw2 turns of the screen completely. But when I MOVE the watch it turns on the clock on the display. I think it has an accelerometer that turns off the screen when no movement is detected.

The same for me. I think that isn't a bug, but accelerometer
Inviato dal mio LG-D802 utilizzando Tapatalk
It is normal.
It is a feature to save battery when it isn't worn.
I am more curious as to the "watch (display) turns on from moving it". Does the SW2 have an accelerometer? My watch display doesn't kick on when I move it. Or was this a feature of the earlier SmartWatches?

I believe SW2 does have an accelerometer. Put your watch on a table, leave it untouched for while, screen completely turns off. Not even the low power watch mode is displayed. But once you move it, low power watch comes back on (without the backlight). I observed it many times when it was charging and when left at the bed side table.
But it is not utilized for backlight function. That is a missing feature people are asking for. But I don't really need it. Just like a regular watch, I press a button to turn the light on when I can't see it in the dark.

Wow... I didn't even notice the screen going completely black after sitting for a while. I am still on watch honeymoon, and either the watch is on my wrist or turned off and on the dresser. But sure enough, it does go into a deeper "sleep" mode and wakes up when I pick it up. Nice!
I do see that having it wake to the backlit mode would be nice but it would seem to kill the battery since when worn it would be in more constant movement. Unless they tuned the accelerometer to only wake when a more significant motion happens.

Yeah the previous iteration of smartwatch from Sony did not have always on watchface and it was a necessity. And to see the time you had to turn on the display. One way was to double tap on the watch screen to wake it up. Another way was to light up the screen by lifting your arm and turning the watch towards you. But the second way never really worked reliably.
But I don't think SW2 needs that. As we already have always on watch with great readability even in places where there little light.

So there is nothing on the screen not even the low power mode on the watch. I don't know what to tell you boss as you have already done a reset. Maybe one thing to check is to use SUS to reflash the firmware using your pc, if you haven't done it already.

[Q] Z3 Color Display / Screen washed out?

Hi,
I have a Z3 and it happens from time to time randomly.
The screen would seems washed out in "grey" somehow...
For example,
I use the Dark theme for LINE application. Normally it would be pretty Dark Grey. But when it happens, it becomes Light Grey.
It is not only happening in just this application, but in all other application as well.
I took a screenshot of it while it's washed out. Then I took another screenshot of it while it's normal.
When I compare both of the screenshots. Both of them look EXACTLY the same... So I guess it's not a software problem but a screen hardware problem instead?
Not sure if any of you have this issue?
It's hard to explain, hope it was clear enough....
Thanks in advance!
Try to turn off X-Reality in display settings. See how it goes.
I tried it and even restarted my phone. Still the same

my guess is, it's simply the display brightness which is automatically set
Everyone has this problem I also have its software related and Sony has to fix it, it mostly happened with whatsapp and soundenhancement app in Lollipop it seemed fixed
I have the same exact problem. Turning the screen off and on fixes it temporarily. I thought it was a hardware issue at first.

I dont think its a hardware issue as it gets fixed after turning the screen off and on. It's definitely a software issue.

Nexus 5 extremely slow and stutter from boot after screen replacement

Hi, I replaced myself the screen (preassembled screen+digitizer+frame). After the replacement everything worked perfectly for like two hours when i rebooted it, from then on it is extremely laggy and stutters from boot animation, and when I press the power button (or when the screen shuts down), the phone itself shut down. In bootloader it doesn't seem to have problems.
I checked every connection inside the device (I've disassembled ad reassembled it several times).. thinking of a software problem, I've flashed marshmallow stock rom frist, and kitkat 4.4.4 then... but it's the same with any factory image.
Maybe I damaged something on the mainboard?
I also made a video to explain the problem:
with a lot of patience I set up a google account and downloaded cpu-z to see if maybe temperature sensor where giving wrong information to the system, but they're fine and everything seems to work propely aside from the stutter.
thanks to anyone who will help me, I'm almost giving up

I thought of that, but the fact that the haptic feedback (like the one you have entering app drawer, or returning home) is perfectly sync without lags made me think the touch was ok... and even twrp recovery was working smoothly (coudn't show in the video since I factory flashed kitkat)

OK, I've just tried... can't tell any differences.
I was thinking that the main way to solve this could be to investigate on the fact that turning off the display (both with power button or by itself after 30sec), shuts down the entire device. Could this be an hardware failure? (maybe generated by a physical damage that I caused)
thank you BTW

I bought a pre-assembled frame-display-touch. The battery came out easily even if I slightly forced it in the bottom. Anyway before replacement the battery was completely discharged... it has been completely discharged for almost two months since I broke the lcd in September. Left the phone disassembled on the desk for two days. After reassemble I plugged in a 2A Samsung charger to fill it up... initially everything was working properly, made a few photos with both cameras to check, a call and some random checks.. still on charge. On the second call I made, the microphone stopped working, so was the third... turned off the device, back on and everything was messed up like it is now.
Well a battery failure could actually make sense...

I didn't fix it eventually... but from my experience in fixing PCs, I believe that it could actually be a power issue related to either the battery or some power circuit.
If you've nothing to lose and some dollars to spend, you could try a new battery and see if it works!

The 8T has a front LED, kind of.

If you enable the front camera you can see a small circle spin round the lens before appearing as a solid light alongside it.
I look forward to seeing what custom ROM developers can do with this, perhaps this LED can be triggered to light up (and stay on, until cleared) when notifications come through.
It is already available below. It works very well on my 8T and I purchased the premium version because it's so good.

I set it to only show for 5 minutes max after a notification and slow down the interval. I don't notice any significant effects on battery compared with a normal always on display.
I use the same app and battery life is fine. I have set it to repeat for 45 min maximum

I've started using this and it is awesome. Only one thing I'm getting is my phone locking up. (Unable to wake up screen)
I have to hard power off and restart.
Uninstalled the app and no lockups. Install the app and I'll start experiencing them again. I'm rooted with only Adaway and V4A. Maybe it's a setting in A11 I have as well? I really like the app and already bought it but it does cause my phone to lockup.

I downloaded this yesterday and enjoy the notification ring. However it's definitely causing battery drain for me, so it will probably get uninstalled soon. I only have it on for a few messaging apps, not facebook or anything like that.
Also since installing, the screen doesn't always want to turn on, I had no issues prior and this app is the only thing that changed.

What do you mean when you say it doesn't want to turn on. Are you having to reboot your phone to get it to turn on. That's The issue I'm having.
I've disabled ambient display completely within the system settings and so far my screen hasn't locked up. Still testing it though.

More of it doesn't respond until I push the power button a few times. It doesn't happen every time, it's occasionally. But it's frustrating when it does that.

I got the app yesterday as well, works really well as you said, apart from the fact that the battery drains with this app.
Anyone know any way to make it less drain?
I'll say it again...this is the one to use...no battery drain, no lockups. It can notify you around the ring, or around the entire screen.
Just try it...what have you got to lose?

This is why I made this thread, third party notification apps tend to be a mixed experience as you can tell by the responses in this thread. I tried AodNotify today and I'm already annoyed by the fact I have to double tap to wake twice in order to wake the phone. Other users are experiencing crashes, battery drains and/or inconsistent notification alerts etc.
When the feature is built-in in a custom ROM, it just works. As in the screenshot below (from an older phone with LED):
Tried aodNotify app. Posting the battery usage screenshots.

This doesn't show the reality. Use the the dots on the top left to show the total device usage. It gives a much better impression.
I for myself don't see any impact on battery life using that app.
