Since SetCPU was updated today to support the tegra II chip, I thought I would just give you all a heads up. Hope to see some kernels compiled with overclocking slots soon.

Cant you overclock by hand without that?
There are a few other apps and methods to overclock. The newest version of setcpu is able to see the slots in clemsyn's kernel, but they don't exceed 1ghz.

Looks like the xoom is already OCd to 1.5. Can't wait to see some kernels for us too
Wrong section.
At any rate, I'm sure once coolbho3000 puts his overclock code in github, the kernel devs around here may be able to get these puppies overclocked as well. The difference being that the Xoom as a .36 based kernel as where we are still running .32 based kernels, so there is just as much chance that it doesn't port.
When posting, think of the content and context. This thread is about an app. But this section is for Guides, Kernels, and ROMs to be released. I know this section is where most folks spend most or all of their timing reading/posting, but there are 4 sections for a reason, to keep content organized and relevant. Let's help the mods do that by posting in the appropriate section.

Why do there seem to be so many self imposed forum police these days? Seems like half the posts I see are people *****ing at the op
There is a big difference between 36 and 32. Honestly, I only assume this from looking at the latest 38 rc commits and comparing the two. But it seems to be significant, even in its comments and verbosity. What's missing is cpu-tegra.c or the cpufreq driver for tegra written by Colin Cross (android dev) - instead we have NVIDIA's cryptic cpufreq.c .. I can barely understand what's going on with most code.. but it seems like our kernel version is from a time where NVIDIA's code was still being sorted thru by the aforementioned Google dev.
I have setcpu installed however I cant change the governor

Yes and so can I. I can also set the governor with a script or manually. They kernel for the GTab has 2 settings....performance and powersave... and as far as I know setcpu doesnt support the .32 kernel that GTab has. It does support the .36 kernel that the xoom has.

I (one of the two mods) moved this into the General section where it should be. It had been in the Development section which wasn't the right place.
And thebadfrog is correct - we (as a community) benefit when everyone helps everyone out - including making sure posts are created in the right spot, and aren't just another variation on a question that might have been asked 15,245,332 times before.
I apologise for posting in development. I wasn't even paying attention. Thank your for moving the thread for me.

You need a kernel that supports overclocking and the GTab doesnt have one yet

wondering if the xoom setcpu profile would jive w/ our tablets?
The gtbalet's benchmark is around 2,500. The overclocked Xoom got 2850. Standard Xoom @ 1Ghz got 2,150.
Am I missing something???? If the gtablet could be OC'd that would be huge.

The profiles won't until the AOSP frequency scaling is imported into the kernel sources - and that's not an easy process. Then the kernel will have to be compiled, etc.
Yes - it'd be nice to be OC'd - but battery life would be affected. It's a tradeoff in many ways....

On my OG Droid I like being able to drop the speed for battery savings when the screen is off if it's not in use. So there's more in it than just big numbers.
I've compiled a kernel for Cyanogenmod 7 that OC's up to 1.8ghz (along with a few other tweaks I forgot about). Just use setCPU. It's pretty much Kali-'s kernel, but with a few minor config changes that I just had to enable. If you feel the need to donate, please donate to Kali- as I just changed around a few files. A few more tweaks will come around as soon as I have spare time (school's a b*tch sometimes and I have a tattooing apprenticeship to juggle). Just request what you guys want for the next version and I'll do my best to add it.
Thanks to Kali- and the rest of the cyanogenmod team for creating our port, and to everyone who helped them out. Hope I'm not violating anything by posting this.

I had a few issues with 1.0 @ 1.8, just updated to 1.1 and went to 1.7.
This is perfect, was just looking around for how to go past 1.2

Lol, at this guy. Give people a chance to learn. Judging from your other posts you seem to be doing the same to other people who want to learn but don't know stuff yet.

Hello all, I was just wondering if there is any way of increasing the voltage to Trinity kernels, without compiling it myself?
I read through some searches and it looked like that was the only way but I don't know how to compile a kernel... I just wish that I was allowed to raise voltage to my heart's content, since it appears to be the snappiest kernel I have tried but they are all too low voltage for my CPU which needs a bigger boost than most.
Thanks!

the only other way to get your voltage raised, without compiling the kernel yourself, is to ask morfic to build you a version with a slightly higher voltage.

Yeah... I don't think there's live voltage changing on trinity.
Yeah that's what I thought.
Is there any reason why Morfic doesn't like supporting the Proton App? Given the other enhancements he's made, it'd make it a really perfect kernel that'd be able to custome tune for any nexus out there... it must be hard for him to try and strike a balance between what his personal phone does, and what's best for everyone else

Clarification as to the why Im stopping
Echoa said:
I am not committed enough to this to do so. Havent even touched it since the last update and dont feel the need to, I really would much rather leave it as I do not wish to get very involved in kernel stuff, etc.
I feel like posting source means I have intent to support, maintain, etc. this stuff and I dont. Its not just a matter of the posting source, its that I only posted the kernel because it was Fauxs and Codecrafts sources I used (only using the GPU OC from Codecraft) and since they shared their work so graciously I felt I should share my modified version of it. I dont want credit for work I didnt do because someone used my sources (which arent even really mine). Ive used github before and know how, its easy, but like I said I feel that would send a message I dont intend.
If there is someone who wants to actually maintain it i will gladly give you the source if you PM me.
TL;DR Im not leaving the kernel scene just because of source posting, its because this was just a fun little thing I did and dont plan on doing that long.

Ive been weeding out things that take too much of my time away from my intended career of comics/animation, this is one of them, and considering I didnt have much intent for it in this first place i may as well leave it now.
Sorry for the lack of info on my part guys as to exactly "why" Ive decided this. Hopefully these past posts give more clarity. Im glad the kernel was well recieved and works well for you guys, but I didnt intended to do this that long in the first place. Is there a reason some Kernel's use 2.5GHz for OC instead of 2.8GHz? Or is it just personal preference?

Hello,
I am Mi5 dev, and as some of you know what Mi5, Mi5S, Mi5S Plus, Mi Mix and Mi Note 2 have the same source, I have a kernel called "FloppyKernel" for MI5 and decide to add support for those devices, but with that I'm feeding feedback to know if everything is working, because I only have the Mi5, thank you if you can test and give feedback
Download
FloppyKernel for MI5
Installed the non-lite one, it boots at least.
Performance I'm testing right now.
What's the difference between lite and non lite for mi 5s plus?
Geekbench, 1983, 4055. Somewhat strong single core, bit underwhelming multi.
Phone scores 123745 in antutu, 40051, 42940, 31211, 9543.
Bit low actually.
I haven't ran this on my older kernels ( nexus exp, psychedelic ), so no comparisons I'm afraid.
Edit: Double tap to wake is borked. Psychedelic is too, so I don't think it's your fault.
Can't really check if cores go to sleep etc., don't want to break no-root.
Thank you for the feedback of all, I will create an official thread for the kernel, there you can discuss the problems and solutions of the kernel (and post the logs, of course)
Did you implement sweep2wake in this kernel? Can you link the commit where you did it please? I really want to implement this in my own kernel.
