Galaxy S6 (G920FD) - Missing LTE/3G/R icons - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am using Wanam lite custom rom and for some reason, the arrows indicating that there is a data activity are not showing up. There is also no data icon like 4G/3G/R etc to show that I am connected to the internet.
My data is on as I can browse and internet is working fine but this is important as well. I have tried changing LTE value to 4G in CSC features but that did not help.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Have you made sure you are on the latest Xposed Framework?
Try using the Xposed module's 4G/LTE icon and see if that works.

Latest cposed is installed and have tried 4G/LTE swap in Wanam Xposed but nothing appears. Not even arrows and any data sign...quite strange.

Hmm, are you using some sort of theming? e.g Alliance Framework? Sounds like it's just "hidden"

Nope nothing, just using plain wanam lite rom, stock odex.
Anywhere else to look for to enable these?
Thanks

Inserted the sim in the second slot and now all icons are there. I guess issue was that one sim slot was not showing but other one shows so no software issues.

2G/3G Toggle?

Any idea how to enable/unhide this feature under wireless networks? Switching to 2G only nearly doubles my battery life on my Nexus
I've just been accessing the band selection menu and selecting gsm bands only. The menu is *#*#2263#*#*. This little "fix" doesn't hold after a reboot, fyi.
I also use the SMODA widget to shut off the data connection whenever I don't need it.
It sucks that mobile data is always on by default, with no stock option to shut it off, and that you can't select to only use 2g right out of the box.
I've seen some widgets that will turn 3G off/on... I wonder if those work on the captivate. I'll give it a try today.

I think you should be able to force it by going to *#*#4636*#*# and selecting GSM only, but that's such a hassle

I'm not looking to completely disable data - I just want to be able to disable 3G when I don't need it (and revert to EDGE data)

The widget I have - which comes with Weather and Toggle Widget - does not work. It just brings up the wireless connections menu, but of course you can't turn it off from there.
I'm using smart bar, and it has a 3g-2g switch, but it isn't working. Since this functionality isn't working on my captivate, but worked on my other phones, I'd say it's been intentionally pushed out. If a hack can fix this, I'd love to learn about it.

I am also interested in this. I work in.a area that switches from edge to 3g a lot and when i had a iphone i increased my battery a lot by setting it strictly to edge at work.

After all the digging and searching around, I found two apps that work perfectly on Samsung Captivate for toggling mobile data (3G)
- Juicedefender (it has a widget you can use to toggle 3G quickly)
- SMODA Widget (It doesnt have too many 5 star ratings but works fine on my samsung captivate).
My phone is rooted but I believe it is not a requirement of either of the above apps. Hope this info is useful for other captivate owners.
Most of the other APN / 3G toggle apps on the market try to put a suffix on the APN names in settings. On the samsung captivate this works only with a restart/reboot. Meaning if you disable 3G using the app it would put a suffix like 'disabled' or something to the APN name. But your phone still has the 3G connection using the original APN settings. Only after you restart the phone does it see the 'disabled' APN name and is not able to use and hence no 3G. Vice versa when you want to enable 3G back - needs restart.
I dont know what process the above 2 apps use but they work instantly on my samsung captivate. No need to restart or click a bunch of other settings. They work perfectly and as simple as it should be.

i heard juice defender works well
Where are you seeing the option to switch from 3G to EDGE? I just installed Juice defender but can't find the option. The mobile data connection widget just shuts off my data entirely.
Sorta on topic but when I try to install juice defender it is never able to install the aosp helper. Does it work for you guys?

It says install completed, but in the logs, it says there was an error
It would be nice to disable 3g while at home or something , where the reception is a bit sketchy, but i could at least still use it for voice and texting , and use wifi for the internet and app stuff. Could help conserve battery life as well
I tried smoda and can confirm that it doesn't work for me. It disabled data completely as I cannot access the web.when I activated the widget. It would be nice if we could set this phone to 2g and if data speeds were above a certain threshold for a certain amount of time then we could have it switch to 3g.

Yeah, I'd really just like to force the phone into EDGE mode when I'm not using it - updating weather and fetching e-mails are really not that data intensive and don't need the speed from the 3G connection. I'd like to have a widget that will turn the 3G back on when I'm on breaks or whatever and want to surf the web, watch a video on YouTube, whatever. I believe you can do this in the service menus, so you would think there would be a way to accomplish it with a widget - even if it were Galaxy S specific.
I'd pitch in 5 bucks towards a bounty towards such a widget if somebody could create one.
Juice defender does have the option to run the 3G radio on 15/1 cycles (off for 15 minutes, on for one) but I'm not sure how/if my apps that would use background data would sync up with that.
i9000 vs 1897 band settings?
Now that I've moved to the JH2 firmware I'm back to some of the AT&T crap, like hiding the band selection setting.
I'm thinking that the differences are in the Settings.apk.
Others have said that since it's a system app and signed, you can't just install it. So I'm wondering if it would be possible to pull the Settings.apk from the i9000 rom and stuff it using the update.zip method.
May have to do a backup and give it a shot.
Once that setting is available, you can use 2G 3G switcher from Market to bring up the UI and toggle between EDGE and HSDPA.
By keeping it on EDGE, my battery lasts alot longer...
If we could manage to enable it juice defender would switch back and forth automatically based on download speed and/or the screen being on/off, which be ideal.

Remove No SIM and Wifi Connected

I'm using my Skyrocket as a media player. I was wondering how to remove the "No SIM" notification and how to hide the "Wifi Connected" notification from the notifications. They are always there and I can not remove them. I'm running the leaked Touchwiz Jelly Bean ROM with root access. I just need to know what files to modify to remove those two notifications. Thanks!
gs2usr's mods will get you the wifi noti.

toyes made a custom rom that is only used for media playing called Clear Media, it might suit ur needs idk as i never tried it, link in the 1stop sticky
Good thinking vincom. I used my skyrocket as a media and GPS device. However, I make it ready as a backup phone. Another point, I connect my phone to a screen, so I need to stick with touchwiz (as long as I know). Therefore, toyes's ROM is not suitable for me.
I froze the phone app and I get rid of "NO SIM" notification but no luck with "WiFi connected" notification.
BTW, I'm using your SL-TW ROM.

[Q] Network indicator (3G, 4G, LTE, H+, etc) in status bar

Hi all!
I'm using an XT1034 (US GSM w/ AWS) and have done the usual (official 4.4.2 firmware, rooted, Xposed + GB[KK]).
I also use a DPI of 240 because I still have good eyes and enjoy the extra space.
What bugs me though is the network indicator.
On my other phones, I use the SlimKat ROM and this one allows me to use a *text* network icon in the status bar. Instead of showing bars, it shows an antenna and the dB reading on its left (this is how I know I usually get -91dB in my basement).
Is there a way to use Xposed (or anything else) to achieve the same on my MotoG ? Or at the very least, remove the 3G and/or H icons and keep only the signal bars?
Thanks!
I wanna know some way too.

[DISCONTINUED][ROM][MOD] S8+_U1_Unbranded_Rom_PlayStore_Addon_Mods_ADB & Odin_Install
THE FIRMWARE IN THIS OP IS FOR VERZIZON S8+ ONLY
The PlayStore Nougat Mods Zip Or The S8 Nougat Mods Zip Can Be Used On Any CarrierThis involves some knowledge of using odin and adb if you do not how to use these please read up before attempting this as this thread is not going to be a how to use odin/adb thread
How I Achieved This If You Want The Technical Stuff
I found that Older CSC zips pulled from the cache.img of the S7 model phone will install using adb sideload.
I dont flash a S8 CSC file in odin because this contains the carrier stuff
I have to flash 2 different csc files from the S7. The first one flashes the correct stuff to blacklist unwanted other carrier Apps and install vital verizon apps. But the first csc zip blocks samsung cloud so by flashing the second csc zip which is from S7 MM firmware Samsung cloud was not blocked then. Finally the 3_Install.bat zip removes unwanted carrier files that cause problems with verizon VoLTE.
This Will Wipe Your Phone!
Leave Phone Connected To Computer The Whole Time

Maybe I misunderstood some of the conversation in the other thread. Here is what you stated there:
I don't know of any other way to force WiFi calling other than turning off cell radio. On Verizon base rom you can put phone in airplane mode and connect back to WiFi but that don't work on unlocked firmware. The whole root thing depends on an unsecured eng boot image. Which the ones we have right now are not
So I thought that in order to get wifi calling working you would have to turn off cellular service. Maybe all you need to do is connect to wifi to get it to work since wifi would be preferred? Right now, when I am at home I get wifi calling and when I am not on my wifi I get cellular radio calling. I don't have to turn anything on or off. It just works.
Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I dont know how your getting wifi calls with verizon without either having no service or your roaming or you turned off the cellular radio. Verizon doesnt let you choose when the calls are made over wifi they choose for you the only settings you can control is if you want to use wificalling while roaming. Just because your connected to wifi doesnt mean the calls are being made over wif network. Unless this has changed in the latest update

Download the Latest VZW Firmware and flash it with Odin3_v3.12.7 from the OP
VoLTE_Fix.zip this is an updated zip to replace the one that came in the System zip. Unzip this and replace your old VoLTE_Fix folder with this new one and the rerun the 3_Install.bat. This will fix wificalling issue not activating
To test wifi calling open rom control app click on Phone Testing Menu
Turn Cellular Radio Power off
If working Properly your setting will look like thisView attachment 4195477
Notice Data Network Type =IWLAN This means your connect to Wifi Calling Network
If your phone is ready to make a WifiCall your Voice Service=In service
If your Voice Service= unknown then go and try and make a call it will fall to call try a couple of times then come back here turn cell radio back on. Wait a few seconds to connect then turn cell radio back off and wait a few seconds it should show Voice Service=In service and you should be good to go. Then try and make a call and wificalling should now work
Also updated the S8_PlayStoreNougatMods_V2.zip. Added a few more things
Just want to say jrkruse you are the truth been following yiu since my s5 keep up the good work .

National Roaming AOSP Marshmallow

Hi,
maybe there is an expert out here that can help me.
I have a cheap Chinese smartphone running marshmallow. The phone is rooted and runs TWRP 3.1.1 recovery.
Unfortunately here in my country my operator uses MVNO and that causes my phone to display roaming, even if it is only national roaming. I searched XDA already a lot and most solutions suggest XPosed, which I do not want to use, as it may break many other things.
The usual suspects like framework-res.apk (MCC MNC) settings or prop.build seem not work. Framework.jar has no entries as well. I would guess there is some .jar file that I need to have a look in.
For which files would I need to look to adopt the national roaming settings to support my networks and get rid of the limitations and the "R" in the status bar? Or is this not possible at all?
Thanks
